MX 892 air print capabilities on Mac OS Mavericks

Hi there. I have an MX 892 and I just upgraded to OS Mavericks. I used to be able to print and scan wirelessly and just lost these capabilities. I deleted the printer from my laptop and attempted to add it again, but my laptop is unable to find the printer wirelessly. I know that my printer is connected to the same LAN as my laptop because our other iOS devices and desktop can find the printer. What am I missing? Any help you can provide is appreciated!

I am trying to print in Photoshop CS4 on an Epson Photo printer (3880) from my Mac. I just upgraded to Maverick 10.9.2 when the problem started. Can you help.

I have the answer. It took quite a while but I know why the 3880 won't print from Photoshop 4 with Maverick. It is due to the Epson .icc page description files. The way to solve the problem is to make your own .icc. OK, so you don't know how to do it. This is what I did so now I get the quality prints I expect from an expensive printer.
You need to go to www.datacolor.com/spyderprint and purchase the Spyderprint hardware and software. It comes as a package for $300 to $350 depending on if you get a sale. The software will print on the 3880 test sheets of color blocks. With the hardware reader you then read the colors on the test sheets printed. What this does is match the monitor image with the printer, ink and paper you used. It makes an .icc page description file for you to select instead of the Epson .icc file. When you print again select the new .icc file and also choose "Printer Manages Colors" instead of "Photoshop Manages Colors" I know this is usual but it works. When you are done you will be smiling too with your beautiful results.
One other thing. If you want, it is optional, also purchase the Spider 4 Pro for $150. It calibrates your monitor and helps make excellent prints.
I understand it is more money and you already probably have a good computer, expensive camera to go with the 3880 so spend the extra money so it all works together.

I am having trouble getting my printer to print with my MAC. It recognizes jobs in the queue, but keeps telling me the printer isn't connected? I have uninstalled and re installed it, updated the drivers. Grrrrr

IOS Airprint and Adobe AIR print capabilities

Hi everybody!
I'm new to this forum and I'm exploring the capabilties of printing a part of a website via the iPad/iPhone. The special deal here however is that I don't want the print dialog window to appear. The user hits send and the document prints on a network printer, that's what I'm in search of.
From what I understood it is not possible to bypass the print dialog box in webkit. So I cannot use a mobile framework like JQTouch. From AIR 2.5 onwards it is possible to allow printing of documents without the dialog box appearing. At least, that's what I read. Also, it is possible to convert an AIR application into a native iPhone/iPad app using Packager for Iphone. Does that man that an app compiled with the PFI is capable of retrieving a list of installed network printers and allows for (parts of) pages to be printed without dialog interference? Did anybody put this to a test already and did it work?

Haven't verified, but I've heard that Apple quietly removed shared printer
support from iOS 4.x. With that change Airprint supposedly only works
w/those new HP printers featuring ePrint support. Just a heads up...

First-timer on this...Just updated my printer which was less than one year old, to one which had Air Print capabilities. This one is the Epson XP605 which has two trays, one being for photos. Each time I tried to Air Print a photo, it printed from the A4 plain paper tray instead of the Photo Tray.Twice...then I came into my study and changed the printer settings to Tray 1 (photo tray) Photo paper, size 5x7 and Photo Best, but still it printed on plain A 4 paper. Would be most grateful for any help, although I did read on one Apple site that AirPrint may not be able to choose trays!!!! "may not"?? Thanks

I just figured out the print quality issue for my wife with her new iMac and new printer.
She replaced both at once and she couldn't understand why her Artisan 730 was lower quality then her Epson R280 when they had the same specs.
Turns out the newer printer had the option to connect via wifi which we used during setup.
The driver options are completely different depending on how you connect.
Once I connected via USB the correct options were available and the print quality was better.
Looking at the R2400 it dies not have wifi, but while researching the problem for my wife someone esle was having an issue updating to the latest printer driver.
If you go into the print utility from the Printer and Scanner system preference and under the general tab you should have driver 5.5.
One user had to delete the old printer driver before Software Update loaded the newer printer driver.

On my MacBook Pro (w Snow Leopard) I always had to reconnect my wifi at home when it woke up. I upgraded my router from an old Netgear to a newer N D-Link and stopped having to do that.
I would be surprised you would have that problem with an Airport Extreme, you might check to see if there is a firmware update for it.

AirPrint is an iOS 5 protocol. It is not used on the Mac or Lion. What you *can* do is add the wireless printer to you network and print from the mac using that.

AIR PRINT printing on new Mac

I am trying to set up air print on my macbook air. It is already set up on iphone and ipad (last year). I followed the instructions to update latest firmware. When I choose my printer (laser P1102w) and click on it I am brought to a BLANK page??? I have tried three times and the same thing happens. If I choose another model of printer I can get to a page but not with my model. Please,,,can anyone help.

If you want a really good fast printer I recommend the Office jet Pro 8600

MG5500 isn't detected by Mac but air print works.

I can't scan as it keeps telling me the printer cannot be detected non of the canon utilities will detect the printer. I can only print via air print.

I forgot to mention... when I tried?my ZEN?on my son's PC and Laptop, both of which work fine with his ZEN, that both of those machines are running Win2k ... not XP SP2.
The only XP PC in my house is my tower running XP MCE2005 SP2.BTW...thinking back, the USB cable may have stopped charging around the time I installed my Creative Web Cam. It got me thinking about driver conflicts, but since my ZEN doesn't work on the other PC's ... I'm lost as what to do next.

Can't find printer in air print

Cannot find my Samsung printer on my iPhone 5. On same wifi network; prints wirelessly from PC; printer model is air print enabled; only way to print from iPhone is using clunky Samsung print app. Am I missing something here?

try resetting your printer and the iPhone and if that fails, see this:

If you are unable to print, or if you see the message "No AirPrint Printers Found"
Verify that the printer:
Has power and is turned on. If it has power, turn the printer off and then on again to see if that resolves the issue.
Is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the iOS device.
Has the latest firmware version installed.
Has paper with enough ink or toner installed.
Is free of any errors displayed on the printer's control panel.
If necessary, consult the printer documentation or contact the printer vendor for help with the above steps.
Notes:
Avoid connecting AirPrint-capable printers to the USB port of Apple AirPort Base Stations or Time Capsules. Doing so can enable traditional AirPort printing from a Mac, but it will not enable AirPrint functions for iOS devices. If you cannot use Wi-Fi networking to connect the AirPrint-capable printer, use an Ethernet connection from the AirPrint-capable printer to the Apple AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule.
Wi-Fi printers can take several minutes to join a Wi-Fi network after being turned on. Ensure that the printer is connected to the Wi-Fi network before attempting to print.

It depends upon the capabilities of your printer. If you have an HP printer with a photo tray then the Photo app will print to whatever size you load in to that tray.

Can I print with a HP Laserjet 1000 printer on a mac?

I recently switched to macs and so far it has been a trouble free ride. My only concern is that i have pre-owned an Hp laserjet 1000 printer. HP hasn't come with any drivers for mac therefore i havent been able to use it. I was wondering if there is any other way(i have used some other aplications without success) that i can make my printer work.

Sorry to say that this printer will not work in Mac OS X unless HP provides the drivers.
The main obstacle to using this printer in OS X is that you must upload the firmware to the printer every time it is turned on or connected to the computer. This is normally handled on Linux platforms by "cat"ting the firmware file to a raw usb device such as /dev/usb/lp0. We do not have such capabilities in Mac OS X.
