Mx920 Multi-page scan

How do I scan multiple pages to a single PDF using the MX920 ADF? It was much easier to do with my previous printer.

Hi cgd14,
There is a program that comes with the printer called the IJ Scan Utility that can assist you with scanning multipage documents to a single PDF file.  To scan using the IJ Scan Utlity, please follow these steps:
1.  Place the documents on the platen glass of the printer.
2.  Start IJ Scan Utility by going to your Start menu, then selecting All Programs, then Canon Utilities, then  IJ Scan Utility (folder), then IJ Scan Utility (program).
3.  In the Canon IJ Scan Utility window that opens, click SETTINGS.... in the bottom right of the window.  The Settings dialog box appears.
4.  Click the DOCUMENT SCAN option on the left pane of the window, then set the item size, resolution, etc. as required.
5.  In the SAVE SETTINGS section of the window, you will select the save format and location of the document you are about to scan.
    a.)  In the FILE NAME field, specify the name you would like to give the file.  By default the filename will begin with IMG; you can remove IMG and change it to whatever you would like to name the file.
    b.)  In the DATA FORMAT field, use the drop-down arrow to select the PDF (Multiple Pages) option.
    c.)  In the SAVE IN field, please navigate to the area where you would like the file to be saved once it is scanned in.  By default, the file will be saved in the MY DOCUMENTS folder.
6.  Once all settings have been selected, click the OK button at the bottom of the SETTINGS (DOCUMENT SCAN) window.  The IJ Scan Utility main screen appears.
7.  Click the DOCUMENT button.  Scanning starts.  Click the CANCEL button to cancel scanning if needed.  Scanned images are saved in previously selected folder location specified in the SETTINGS... window.
Hope this helps!

    When I try to scan documents in PDF format on the multi page scanner, the pages does not feed into the scanner. The wheels on the scanner just turn. It is almost as though the printer does not recognize there are pages in the multipage scanner. I do not experience any problems whatsoever with the flatbed scanner.
    Being stationed on Afghanistan it is not simple a case of taking it to the closest technitian.
    I have restarted the computer, the printer, Adobe PDF but nothing solves the problem.
    Then I also get a message: "HP FX Toolbox has stopped working." when I start or restart the computer. How do I fix this problem?
    Appreciate the help.

  • Preview crashes when reading multi-page scanned PDFs

    Does anyone know why Preview and Safari should crash while rendering a multi-page PDF scanned by a Lexmark P150 printer/scanner? It doesn’t happen with single page scans. The same thing happens with DEVONAgent and Skim, but not with PDFPen or PDFClerk, which handle the documents with no problem. It happens when I scan with Lexmark’s own All In One Center app, but also with Image Capture. I haven’t tried any other scanning software.
    I can post a Console report if anyone is interested.
    Cheers
    Malcolm

    Tried that, still getting the same problem. The 2nd and 3rd pages are still showing up as landscape in the preview, but portrait when printed.

  • Multi-page scanning to one file

    Scanner will not allow multiple page scans to one file from the glass.  A checkbox exists in advanced settings to create a separate file for each scan if checked.  However if left unchecked there is no button ("+", "add", "continue", etc.) on the screen to add more scanned pages to the file.  The checkbox makes no difference in advanced settings on the "file" tab.

    Hi, Yes, it has              Please scan from the printer software (ie from your computer). Regards.

  • Multi page scanning on Officejet Pro 8600 with flatbed

    I had to replace a 6400 series HP multi process with a HP Officejet Pro 8600. With the old software it would ask if there were any more pages when using the flatbed scan option. I can't figure out how to do this using the new software and it automatically creats the file after 1 page. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Hi,You may scan multiple pages from the Flatbed glass by using the HP Scan software. Open the HP Officejet Pro 8600 software and click the Scan a document or photo option.Select PDF, ensure the Show Preview box is checked and the resolution being set as 300 dpi or below. Click an Scan and use the Add Pages button to add additional pages. Shlomi

  • Scanning with Yosemite splits multi-page documents into a separate document for each page

    I use a Mac Book w/ OSX 10.10.1.  I scan docs using the HP Scan utility & both an HP OfficeJet 6700 & an HP Officejet 8600. Everything worked great for a year or more.
    In about September, 2014, multi-page docs started creating a separate file for each page of the doc, instead of storing the scanned multi-page doc in one file as it had before.  I didn't change any settings w/in the HP utility that I am aware of.  I did download the the Yosemite OSX.  I haven't been able to find a setting w/in the HP scan utility to correct the issue.  Both of my scanners are useless for scanning & returning executed agreements (my primary use for them) until I can fix this problem.  I would appreciate any help anyone can give.
    Thank you!

    Hi,
    From the HP Scan click on Scan and follow the steps on screen.
    Once the scan preview being shown click on Send and then click on Folder.
    Select the required Format, then check the box next to 'Save all items to a single file' and click the Save button, then the scan will no longer be saved in seperate files.

  • Scan multi-page less convenient in Acrobat Pro 8

    Scanning a multi-page document is less convenient in Acrobat Pro 8.
    In prior versions when a page had been scanned a dialog box was presented in which the user could simply press Return or Enter to scan another page, or Escape if there were no more pages to scan.
    However, in ver. 8, the new dialog box defaults to "no more pages to scan" and if you nee to scan additional pages you have to reach for the mouse and click an alternate radio button, then click another button to scan the additional page(s). Quite a bit more movement required than before.
    I realize this is a relatively minor issue, but it's annoying when scanning multi-page documents.

    Hello @txrun ,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
    I understand that you would like to scan multiple pages into on PDF document.
    I would like to help.
    It really depends on how you are scanning.
    Are you using Apples Image Capture or HP Scan?
    If you are using HP Scan, it should be quite simple.
    Scan the first page.
    You should have a preview of the page on the left hand column of the window.
    You will also have a little plus sign found at the lower left hand corner of the window.
    Change the page on the scanner glass then click the little plus sign.
    If you are using the Apple Image Capture, you will have to change the format from JPEG to PDF.
    This will cause a little box to appear under it, that will say 'combine multiple pages into single file'
    Check this box and proceed to scan.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Adobe Acrobat v9.0, and a HP Lserjet M1212nf with multi-page feeder. How do I switch scan scource?

    Using Adobe Acrobat v9.0, and a HP Lserjet M1212nf with multi-page document feeder.  How do I switch scan source from just the scanner bed to feed from the document feeder?
    {Personal Information Removed}

    Hello MN42
    Printing duplex and scanning duplex are two completely different things and rely on two different hardware components. The back of the printer has a duplexing unit for flipping the page while printing. In order to scan duplexed documents "automatically" you need to have an Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) that supports duplexing as well.
    As per your inquiry, if you scan from the Officejet 6700 software you can flip the pages manually from the flat bed into a single PDF document. See the image below. Let me know if you need any additional assistance.

    Hi @pwyckoff ,
    I see that you are experiencing issues scanning from the ADF. The paper isn't being recognized. I would like to help you out today.
    It might be a paper sensor or hardware issue with the printer.
    I would do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
    Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
    Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
    This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
    Here is a document for cleaning the ADF rollers and the separator pad.

  • HP 2540 scanning to create a multi-page pdf?

    I just purchased a 2540 all-in-one, and am trying to scan several pages of a document and create a multi-page pdf. After I scan a page, I am asked if I am done, or to save the document, or cancel. Although I have unchecked the box in advanced settings to create a separate document for each scanned page, I am thus far unable to figure out how to scan multiple pages and create a multi-page document.

  • Officejet 6500 e709a fails during multiple page scans

    I have an Officejet 6500 e709a that I've used for years. I'm running Windows 8.1 64 bit. Today it stopped scanning in the middle of a multi-page document and gave me this error code, 8, [(4, 0, -2147023170)]. It will scan one page with no problem, but after 3 to 5 pages I get the error.
    I restarted the program, restarted my computer and uninstalled/reinstalled HP Solutions Center. Nothing worked.
    Any ideas?

    Welcome to the forums Christopher!
    I read your post about the scanning problem you are now having with your Officejet 6500 model. I would first suggest running the Print and Scan Doctor and recycle your network devices, if you have the printer connected wireless or ethernet. If you have the printer connected USB, try a power reset.
    Power cycling the network devices:
    Turn off the printer and computer and unplug the router for 1 minute (do not press any buttons on the router).
    Plug the router back in and wait another minute, next turn on the printer and computer.
    Power reset:
    Press the Power button to turn on the product.
    With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
    Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
    Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
    Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
    If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
    Ensure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help greatly.
    Please let me know the results!
    Have a great day

  • Save each page of a multi-page document as a separate file using spawned file names with javascript

    Hello
    We are currently changing our hard-copy personnel files and converting them to pdf files.  We have scanned the entire file into one multi-page document.
    I am wanting to save each page (or groups of pages) as separate files.
    In order to facilitate this, I have duplicated field names--such as FirstName, LastName, EmpNo on each page.  This information should be static for the entire file.
    However--I also need information that will change for each individual "page" or document--such as TypeOfDoc, Date, etc.  I have used the Spawn fields using the overlay method on each of the pages in the document.  Then I went in and filled in the information for each page of the document--such as TypeOfDoc, DateOfDoc.
    Now I want to save each page of the document as a separate file using the field names as the file name.
    I first created an action that would split all the pages into separate files and save them into a folder.
    Then I want to save each file as a specific file name based on the information in the fields.
    My problem is obtaining the name of the spawned field name.  The rest of the field names I am not having a problem with.
    This is what I have so far to name the file.
    // Get the field value
    var oPage = this.pageNum;
    var fn = getField("P" + oPage + ".TEMPLATE.DateOfDoc").valueAsString + getField("FirstName").valueAsString + "-" + getField("LastName").valueAsString;
    // Specify the folder
    var fldr = "/n/Personnel/ScannedDocuments/NAMEDPAAS/";
    // Determine the full path
    var fp = fldr + fn +".pdf";
    // Save the file
    myTrustedSpecialTaskFunc(this, fp);
    This code is also accompanied with folder level scripts.
    My problem is obtaining the name of the spawned fields using javascript.  Each document has several pages--so I would like to obtain the field name through script.
    I receive the following error.
    TypeError: getField("P" + oPage + ".TEMPLATE.DATE") is null
    I think this is due to the fact that I have extracted all the pages as individual files.
    If I were to do the above, but not extract the pages first--I do not know how to just save one page at a time.
    Please help.  This is a massive project, and if we have to save each file individually, it will take a lot of time.
    I am a beginner, so any assistance is appreciated.
    Thank you

    I am not understanding exactly where to put the curly brackets.  I have tried two different ways, and still get the same error.
    This is one way
    var oPage = this.pageNum;
    // Specify the folder
    var fldr = "/n/Personnel/ScannedDocuments/NAMEDPAAS/";
    // Determine the full path
    var fp = fldr + fn +".pdf";
    for (var i = 0; i < this.numPages; i++)
    var fn = getField("P" + oPage + ".template.DateOfDoc").valueAsString + getField("FirstName").valueAsString + "-" + getField("LastName").valueAsString;
    {this.extractPages({
    nStart: i,
    cPath : fldr + fn + ".pdf"
    The other is this
    var oPage = this.pageNum;
    // Specify the folder
    var fldr = "/n/Personnel/ScannedDocuments/NAMEDPAAS/";
    // Determine the full path
    var fp = fldr + fn +".pdf";
    for (var i = 0; i < this.numPages; i++)
    var fn = getField("P" + oPage + ".template.DateOfDoc").valueAsString + getField("FirstName").valueAsString + "-" + getField("LastName").valueAsString;
    this.extractPages({
    nStart: i,
    cPath : fldr + fn + ".pdf"
    Thank you for your help.

  • Read and Export "Target Area" of multi-page PDF

    Hey there,
    I have a multi-page PDF (400+ pages) and what I want to do is perform an OCR on a specific target area on each page, then export the results to a CSV or text file. For example, each of my pages is a report, and I want to take out one piece of data from each page, plunk it into a CSV, then bring that data into Excel to do a sum...

    Acrobat's OCR will attempt to recognize all character images on a PDF page containing a scanned image. It has no "zone" control.
    Once the PDF has an OCR output you can save it to a text file.
    Be well...
