MX922 is refusing to power off, connect to network. How to move back to USB?

My MX922 is being a royal pain in the butt. It's only a couple of months old, but it's the first Canon printer I've had in a decade that hasn't been great from the start.
It takes forever to shutdown (more than a day right now).
how can I reset it to the factory defaults? I'd rather shut off the wireless support completely (since it doesn't work worth a darn) and just use USB, but I dont' see how to do that.
Thanks
Scott

Sometimes wireless signals can interfere with the printer (especially connected wirelessly). Try powering off your router and power cycling the printer (unplug if need be). Turn printer back on with the router still turned off. Then, you should be able to reset the settings on the printer. On the printer, press Menu > Device Settings > Reset Setting > Reset All. Should be fine from here to power back on your router. Then, you can just connect the cable to your PC and should be able to print.

Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

  • Connected to Network, how to add browse point for servers

    A little help please,
I have my Playbook properly connected to my network. I want to be able to browse to one of my servers on the network to be able to upload/download files to/from the playbook. I don't want to have to do it through another PC on the network. I want to be able to do it directly from my playbook.
I have all SMB/CIFS windows shares on my internal network. All of my other devices (computers, media players, other)can browse to any of my servers. I'd like to be able to do the same with my playbook.....
What would be nice; be able to play any media file from the server. Download a document, work on it and be able to save it on the server. Transfer files to/from server/playbook to take on the go.
Please, if someone knows how to set this up, submit a step-by-step tutorial with as much info as possible.
    Regards.

The PlayBook can access files on a Windows computer by using an app called Ghost Commander.  I have not done this myself as I tend to move files to and from the PlayBook over WiFi from my desktop computer.  Whether this would work in accessing a server proper is another matter but it should be possible if it is a Windows server.  The following blog discusses how to set up the PlayBook and computer to allow the PlayBook to browse and transfer files:

There may be better experts in this forum who can shed some light on the matter.

  • Moving Time Machine Drive from Direct Connect to Network Share

I have a 1 TB external USB 2 drive I use for my Time Machine backup. I'd like to move that drive to a file server and continue backing up to it. The problem appears to be that when backing up to the drive as a network volume, Time Machine wants to create a new sparsebundle for the backup and not use the existing TM backup folder on the drive.
Is it possible to migrate a Time Machine drive from direct connect to network while preserving the backed up data? Thanks!

Depending on what "file server" you're using, that may or may not work reliably. Here's the criteria they must meet: Disks that can be used with Time Machine. And be careful here: just because some 3rd-party hardware claims to support Time Machine doesn't necessarily mean that Apple supports it, or that it will work in all circumstances.

  • Ipod touch is "frozen" can't power off or connect to itunes

I was listening to music on my ipod touch when the song stopped and would not play again. Took my headphones out, put them back in, still nothing. Powered down to see if that would work. Put the ipod in my pocket after powering down and checked it a couple hours later and it was frozen. Now, if I push the power button the screen shows a cable connecting to the iTunes icon. When I push and hold the power down button I am unable to slide the power off button...the touch screen does not work. I connected to itunes but received a message stating it was unable to connect because my ipod was locked and I need to enter my password on my ipod....but it's locked! Ideas?

  • Unable to Connect to WiFi after iPhone power off; WiFi & internet are working with MBP; common problem, no solutions?

Here's my setup: Internet <> Comcast/xFinity supplied cable modem <> new Apple Time Capsule <> iPhone 4 & MacBook Pro (see below for hardware details)
Internet on my iPhone 4 has been acting slow since yesterday evening. My MacBook Pro was running fine, but just to be sure I checked the Comcast website to see that I have only used 50GB of my allotted 250 GB of data for the month, so it's not that.
I decided it must be a problem with just my iPhone, so I opened up the multitasking bar and quit everything in there manually, and then I held the on/off button, and slid the slider to power off. When I started back up, I could not connect to the same WiFi I had just been using. I tried to reconnect and nothing. I tried to forget the network and try again, nothing. I tried to reset all network settings, nothing.
I have tried all the steps listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398 "iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections"
Toggled WiFi off and back on
Made sure I am in range of the router (it's about 8 feet away and my iPhone reports full signal from the network)
Made sure all the hardware is connected and on
Checked other devices (I'm successfully connected with my MacBook Pro right now)
Checked for router firmware upgrades (I have a new Time Capsule from Apple with the current 7.5.2 firmware which I've been using for a month)
    Restarted my device (again)
Checked that the network is available (it does show on my iPhone)
    Restarted my Time Capsule
Checked my router configuration as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3727 "Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network" which involves simply checking to see that WMM is turned on, also stating that WMM cannot be enabled or disabled for Apple's AirPort products.
    Reset my network settings (again)
I have searched and searched for fixes to this problem, and I have additionally tried:
    Enabling/disabling Airplane Mode
Disabling any network password protection/encryption (no luck), re-enabling it (no luck)
    Changing the network password
Checking for hardware addresses present in iOS Settings > General > About (they are present and not zero'ed out)
Switching Bluetooth off (nothing) and back on (nothing)
....and probably a few other things I can't think of right now
    I have yet to try:
The "Freezer Trick" which apparently involves chilling the iPhone to get a temporary fix?
Restoring the iPhone (I would really rather not)
A different WiFi network (other than my own Time Capsule home network or guest network, both of which give the same Unable to Connect error)
So, after all of that, are there any more ideas? Is there a reliable solution to this issue? So far I've just seen a lot of "mess with the settings," "the freezer trick worked," and "blame it on the iOS 4 update."
    Here are my hardware details:
    iPhone 4; iOS 5; 32GB; AT&T; no cellular data plan (July 2011)
    TimeCapsule6,113; Firmware 7.5.2; 2TB (September 2011)
    MacBook Pro 3,1; Mac OS X (10.7.2); 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo; Hi-Res Display; 4GB RAM; 500GB HD (August 2007)
    ...and the Time Capsule config:
    http://cl.ly/BCUt

Ugh. Apparently "messing with it" is still the answer. I decided to try the LinkSys router I was using before I bought the Time Capsule, and my iPhone connected with no problem.
I went through the steps again, and after rebooting my Time Capsule this time, I can connect again. The troubling thing it that this started with a power-off of my iPhone. No changes or installations, just a reset. Am I going to have to reboot my Time Capsule (which has no power switch, just a cord I have to unplug) every time I reboot my iPhone?
    Jinkies.

  • Connect to iTunes required after every power off of Ipad 64GB wifi

My Ipad 64GB wifi model continually prompts to "connect to iTunes" every time I power off and power back on. This is extremely frustrating and the Apple Customer Care has asked that I return my iPad. I would rather find a solution since I am working Iraq and my Ipad is my e-book reader (in place of a Kindle. Steps taken thus far:
Reset iPad (Erase All Content and Settings)
    Reset Network settings
Reset All Settings (content not erased)
I've read that this problem sometimes occurs with some third-party applications installed (like Jailbird) . I do not have any of those applications installed. If anyone can offer a solution I would greatly appreciate it.
    Danielle

Since you erased all content and reinstalled the OS and this still happens, sounds like a hardware failure. You need to take the iPad back to an Apple store for an exchange.

  • Hello I just barely updated my iPhone software to the ios7 and it's stuck on the power off screen asking to connect USB to iTunes. How is it for me to continue past that?

Hello can someone please help me solve my issue to my iPhone update iOS 7 software. I updated it and now it's stuck in the power off screen showing an demonstration of the USB connection plug with an arrow pointing towards the iTunes logo. How do I go from there?

    Hey Bianca71,
Thanks for the question, I understand how frustrating this may be. It sounds like the update process may have been interrupted, and to resolve the issue, we’ll need to restore your device in recovery mode with iTunes:
