MXF codecs & encoder for pc? MXF AVI or MOV

Hello,
I have a question about MXF codecs for PPro CS3. I have a Sony PDW-530 (2/3" professional SD camera) and I shoot on IMX50. I have a problem when I import the .MXF files in PPro CS3. PPro CS3 says, 'unsupported format or codec is missing'. When I shoot with the Sony PDW-F335L (that's a HD 1/2" camera) and import the .MXF files into PPro CS3 I have no problem with 'unsupported format or codec is missing'.
So one of my questions is: 'Is there a codec for Premiere Pro CS3 for .MXF files shoot on IMX30 / IMX40 or IMX50? And where can I found him then.
Then my other question: Mac has a MXF encoder, named 'XDCAM Transfer'. In this program you can import the .MXF files and then convert it to a .MOV file. The .MOV file you can import in Premiere Pro CS3.
Is there for PC also a MXF encoder of tranfer (to a .AVI or .MOV file?)
Hopefully you can help me!
Greetings Rob!

I believe Premiere's MXF support is limited to DVCPRO HD and XDCAM EX/HD.

  • Why Adobe doesn't use the open source codec x264vfw for Elements as .AVI?

Well we all know who wants to work with the x264vfw that it does not work in Premiere Elements.
But i think Adobe could have make it work with the open source x264vfw or with the AVC-Intra coder.
I am still asking me also why it would work when i do re-encode it with another program to h264 again but as MP4?
Adobe does itself make it really easy and messing with us. because they are saying there is support for h264 but only for MP4 and another one...
Why they don't add .AVI support that goes to the support of Adobe because i can't get into the livechat.... because its only under the week....
This Codec the H264 X264 and AVC-1 are the most used codecs today in my opinion so i don't know why they don't sit their Dev's on that.
ALSO that it does not work on their 600$ Application named Premiere Pro is something that i don't understand...
For me its unbelievable if i am honest.
I now want to know why adobe is such a service desert in this point.
They all yelling about that but Adobe does nothing.
If somebody knows a solution without re-encoding or FFMPEG solution, because it does not work well with my Variable Frame Rate in Premiere Elements let it me know.
Also i want an Answer from Adobe why they don't do anything.
I tried to put the x264vfw .dll into plugins or the folder but the problem is not solved.
I am sitting for Quiet a time behind that and see how many threads there existing... and it's only frustrating.
ADOBE it's time to do something!!!

I still think that a lot of peoples have done that. When you see how many persons are suffering by this problem...
Well i have not known about the Adobe Staff tags that they are not the real help from the real support.
    Thank you about that.
Normally i would send a mail but there is no option for that... to they're support team.
I said that it hard for me to get some support under the week. I have to work from 6am until 5pm with driving. and have to do some things a home.
Feature Request/Bug Report Form i think will not help or have you used it and got an answer? I want an answer not only request something.
" We normally do not send personal replies to feature requests or bug reports. We do, however, read each and every message. We use the information to improve our products and services. Your comments, suggestions, and ideas for improvements are very important to us. We appreciate you taking the time to send us this information. "
And yes i buied last year Premiere Elements to Christmas time.
I still don't understand why they didn't add support for H264, h264, X264, x264 and AVC-1 for .AVI wrapper when they have the licenses for the codec...
Also .AVI is really often used... not like .MKV

  • Preferred codec encodeing for web

From AE CS4 which codec gives a good result for HD (1280x720) web use. From Premiere I use AME's H.264 but in AE I don't get as good a quality.

AE and Color Finesse are set to 8 bit. I checked "use maximum bit" rate in Color Finesse. Still won't render Color Finesse effect in AME stand alone. I have Color Finesse "LE" if that makes any difference. Came with Premium suite. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact I'm using CineForm AVI files.
EDIT:  Didn't make any difference. Tried same project with original .MTS file. Still no Color Finesse gel being rendered.

  • Are there any converter or codec/plugin for Edius Captured Avi to be converted into Quicktime?

I have some avi files caputred on Edius. But I work on FCP 7. They do not play on fcp or premier cs6. I tried looking up discussions online, didn't get much help there. Is there a way to convert these AVIs to an .mov files so I can edit on fcp? I don't have access to a windows PC or the original mini dv tapes. I believe the footage was shot in HDV/ PAL. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Media Encoder: timeline cuts off at 3:10 for 38 min AVI

    Hello,
I have searched the forums and the web in general but cannot find anyone who has either reported or solved a similar issue to mine.  I thus fear I am simply doing something really stupid and just need a nudge in the right direction!
Trying to use Media Encoder to turn an AVI produced by Camtasia Studio into an MP4.  The AVI is 1.8GB and loads and runs fine in Windows Media Player, start to finish.  I can queue it up in Media Encoder and select all settings BUT the timeline in the Media Encoder only goes to 3 minutes 10 seconds...it just doesn't seem to 'see' the other 35 minutes of the AVI!  If I execute the encoding, I get a perfectly fine MP4 of the first 3:10 of the AVI.
What am I doing wrong that is causing Media Encoder to only recognize the first 3:10 of my monster big AVI?
By the way, I am going from a Camtasia Studio 6 AVI to MP4 using Media Encoder because MP4 direct from Camtasia come out with stutters (video and audio halts) whereas this double step process has worked in the past to make good MP4s.
    Any help is appreciated,
    Dean

    Dean,
I sometimes encounter this, when I have converted footage to DV-AVI Type II (usually from some crappy CODEC, like DivX). Usually, those converted AVI's are just fine, but on occasion, I'll get one that does just as you describe - the Duration in PrPro is truncated, and at a point similar to yours.
I have found that if I Import that DV-AVI Type II into PrElements, and then immediately Export it to the same exact format/CODEC, DV-AVI Type II, with Recompress turned OFF, the new DV-AVI Type II now has the correct Duration in PrPro.
Why? I have never found the reason. I have tested the two DV-AVI's (the one from the converter and the one run through PrE), and they match up perfectly in all respects. DupeFile Finder says they are identical. G-Spots reports the exact same specs., including the Duration. For some reason, PrPro gets the wrong Duration. This goes back to PrPro 2.0. It only happens on occasion, and I'll often have 10 files from a client's shoot, where 9 convert perfectly, but one will show this problem.
I have tried several other conversion programs, but the same odd behavior happens, seemingly randomly.
Other than that workflow, I have no real help. I also do not know how to find the files that will report the wrong Duration to PrPro - it's a crap shoot. I just check Durations, knowing that I may have one offending file, that needs to go through PrE, which ALWAYS sees the Duration correctly, and then writes that in a form that PrPro can see properly.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Avi codec pack for mac??

    Hi,
We have recently switched over a few mac machines and are slowly getting the hang of them. After having issues playing back avi's on the machine i have downloaded the Perian codec pack for mac which allows me to play the files in quicktime etc and get audio output. I still have the problem however that when imported into Premiere/Encore etc i get video but no audio??? I dont want to have to convert all the files into compatible mac files as i just want a codec to install which will play them and solve the problem. The files are DivX codec built.
I find it odd that files will play with audio in quicktime on the machine but not in the adobe software. Tried reading around this on the web but have turned up nothing after Perian that helps. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ian

    Thanks Hunt,
You seem to reply to most of these posts, so thank you very much for giving up your time to help others, much appreciated.
I have both converted the files - in a rather drawn out way through a couple of freeware programs to give me an mp3 audio file macs don't seem to mind - and and burnt DVD's on mac and PC to check for quality on both machines.
We have to work with DivX a bit for clients to create conference openers etc and if they specify footage from the web etc its generally the only format we can get it in on short notice. Horrible but the way of the world it seems.
Currently running mac book pro's for on site edit machines on the highest specs available for purchase i.e. i7 processor 7200rpm internal hard drive etc and Adobe CS5 and have to say that the 'macs never fall over' hype isn't true. Apart from having their file preferences for use which is a pain when crossing projects over from both platforms i have found both new macs crash when worked hard using premiere, after effects and photoshop/illustrator. We find CS5 has far fewer bugs and is more stable than CS4 mind you.
I'm sure that may queue mac lovers to put me straight on the much fabled shiny machines however.
    Cheers, Ian

  • Cannot encode 1920x1080 Uncompressed Microsoft AVI

My camera gives me MTS files, which I then almost always encode to an uncompressed avi at 1920x1080 1:1 pixel aspect ratio for editing purposes.  However, suddenly and inexplicably, Premiere Pro and the Media Encoder have both decided that the upper limit is now 1620x1080.  My original footage is 1920x1080, so this makes no sense.  I've tried making sure the software is completely up to date, and this does not fix the problem.
Does anyone have any possible insight as to what might be going on and how it might be fixed?
    Many thanks,
    Matt F

Lemme guess... you didn't uncheck the Link Aspect Ratio button?
By the way, you probably don't want to use the Uncompressed MS AVI option; if you want an uncompressed file that will be a bit more compatible, select Microsoft AVI with the codec set to "None." Other options for losslessly compressed (and therefore smaller) AVIs would be the Lagarith Lossless Video Codec or the Ut Video Codec Suite.

  • No sync with audio for input files AVI MPEG4 23.976 fps

No sync with audio for input files AVI MPEG4 23.976 fps.
If i open in Premiere Pro CC any file AVI MPEG4 23.976 fps (with internal audio MP3 or AC3) i got growing out of sync from start to end of file, even while play it at internal media player of Premiere Pro CC for source file.
Using external audio files AC3 or MP3 not help.
In properties of source file i see 23.97 fps instead of 23.976 fps, and time of internal file is wrong.
If i try Clip > Modify > Interpreter Footage > custom settings to 23.976 time i see right time, but when i click "OK", custom fps saved as 23.98 fps instead of 23.976 fps and time of source goes wrong again.
So i always get bad sync such files in Premiere Pro CC while play or export them.
But in all media players, other editors, and in PluralEyes sync OK with all such files.
If i open M2TS or MP4 (H264 23.976 fps) source file, all OK, it it shows as 23.976 fps, time is right, and sync OK.
So i want to add automatic detection 23.976 fps instead of 23.97 fps for source AVI files with 23.976 fps.
    Is it possible?

Yes, i know what XviD and DivX does not edit well in Premiere Pro. And because of that i create this topic "No sync with audio for input files AVI MPEG4 23.976 fps" and was hoping to get help in solving the problem, rather than stating that the problem really is.
XviD and DivX it is MPEG4.
Xvid (formerly "XviD") is a video codec library following the MPEG-4 standard, specifically MPEG-4 Part 2 Advanced Simple Profile (ASP).
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xvid
I have many old useful materials in XviD and DivX formats, and have no other formats versions for that material.
XviD and DivX are very compact formats to store video at acceptable quality and it is fully compatible with all players and editors for PC except Premiere Pro.
You suggest to convert them to another format (DV) to make compatible with Premiere Pro... It is not what i want.
    Let me explaine:
    1) Size of files
uploaded AVI XviD 1280x720 file with very good quality have size 1.9Gb (with audio AC3 2.0). If i convert it via VirtualDub from "AVI XviD" to AVI DVCPRO HD 1280x720 (without audio) it have size 35Gb, and quality is worst than at XviD-HD, and also converting take much time.
    2) Compatibility with AC3 and MP3 audio inside AVI
AVI DV / AVI DVCPRO not compatible with AC3 and MP3 audio inside, only with PCM
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DV
AVI XviD and DivX can use AC3, MP3, OGG audio without any problems.
    Size of 1Hour 30Min "AC3 Stereo 48kHz 16bit 384Kbps" file is 257Mb
    Size of 1Hour 30Min "PCM Stereo 48kHz 16bit" file is 1030Mb
    3) I have and use hardware H264 encoder card "Matrox CompressHD" for export my material
    http://www.matrox.com/video/en/products/compresshd/specs/
This card works only from Adobe Premiere Pro, so i can not use it from VirtualDub or other editing software.
So i need a full compatibility Adobe Premiere Pro with all popular standard formats of input files.
    Here we see:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/extend.html#Supportedvideoformats
    Supported video formats:
"Adobe Premiere Pro CC leads the industry with incredible, thorough native media support, meaning you can edit virtually all of the major video, image, and audio formats natively without waiting."
As most PC users knows, AVI XviD it is a very popular free video format, and would be very useful if Adobe will make normal compatibility with that format in Premiere Pro.

  • What's a good codec pack for Mac?

My friend recommended K-Lite Codec Pack, but it only works on PC and I have a Mac. Is there a good codec pack for Mac?

    mattdwm wrote:
I keep running into video files that I have to figure out how to convert to something After Effects can work with. Such as .3gp from an Android phone.
That's not a "codec pack" issue, you just need a good all purpose conversion tool or two. Apple Compressor works well as do all of the other products mentioned here. Another good tool is a cheap PC with free Microsoft Encoder (or whatever they're calling it these days). You can pull in all kinds of aggressively non-Mac friendly files and output to any of several lowest common denominators.
Bringing in weird and highly compressed consumer movie files isn't as simple as converting to an editing codec (which raises the question, why are you bringing these clips into AE and not Premiere?) you also need to figure out how to do frame rate conversions, scale adjustments, and color space tweaks.

  • Exporting HD Sizes for Quicktime and AVI?

Okay, LOVE the new CS4, but have a problem.
For tech notes in case it means anything, I'm shooting with a JVC HD-110, editing M2T files. Everything in THAT respect works perfectly - NOW I even have an FS5 drive so it goes even better - dropping all capture time and processes. The Projects are all set up as HDV, 720p at 24p - basically, everything about the Project is set to HD.
When I choose Quicktime or AVI as the Export format, the only Preset options that come up are DV related. Meaning, SD... And when I have to manually type 1280x720 as the export size (upping the default from 720x480) it even reads "1,280" - not a straight "1280", get it?
The resulting render looks horrible - completely unusable - unless my goal is to simulate the old Fisher Pricer Pixel Camcorder ;-)
How do I Export from Premiere's Timeline to an HD format? Or can I download a set or HD Presets to put in the Export Settings (or something) folder for each codec?
Thank you for your time, and any thoughts-
    -Lew

Oh yeah - there's a whole huge list for WMV! MAN you have options there!
No, none of those options are (or seem) available for Quicktime and AVI.
I bounce files back and forth for clients (and myself) for FX work and edits (they prefer the Quicktime Animation codec at 100% - gotta admit, it's beautiful!), and would like to do final output to HD in the end for a project I'm working on right now.

  • Finding a Gif Encoder for Java Advanced Imaging (JAI)

I'm trying to find the GIF encoder for Java Advanced Imaging. I keep reading all over the place that there is one, but for the life of me I can't figure out where it is supposed to be. Could anyone please enlighten me?
    Thanks

After I installed this, it still doesn't report gif as a possible encoding type:
    String[] codecs = ImageCodec.getEncoderNames(img, null);
                for (int j = 0; j < codecs.length; j++) {
                    String codec = codecs[j];
                    System.out.println (codec);
}only reports the following types available:
    pnm
    jpeg
    tiff
    png

  • How to encode for 1080i?

I have my new HD camcorder and have created my first HD movie. How do I encode for full HD playback on TV? I don't yet have a Blu-Ray burner. I have AppleTV and PS3. No good going for the export to AppleTV option as AppleTV HD is only 720p; and PS3 won't play any .mov file, only mp4/m4v. The trouble is that when I go to export to MPEG-4 export, the higher value video export options, including 1080, are greyed out. I tried the divx HD profile but playback on the PS3 was plagued with little freezes. What to try next?

    Jeffrey Shaw wrote:
Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I just tried this and I have to say that this produced the very worst video transfer I have ever seen! The pixellation and degradation were very, very severe - and that is an understatement.
Well, I got very good results with the settings I mentioned above. My source is the Apple Intermediate Codec .mov file created by iMovie HD in the project package (in Shared Movies > iDVD) which I guess you're using as well since you say your original footage is over 40 GB for one hour. Sometimes I limit the data rate to as high as 20,000 Kbps (which can probably increase the quality quite a bit), but I've been quite satisfied with the quality of the footage at 15,000 Kbps.
MPEG Streamclip produced a perfectly good MPEG-4 file that is an hour long and only 6.8 GB (the original .mov file is 40GB+), but even though it plays just fine on the Mac, the PS3 says the data is corrupt.
What (exact) settings did you use in Streamclip to create that "corrupt" file? Perhaps one of them is causing the PS3 to see the video as corrupt. Also, how are you transferring the file to the PS3 (DVD, USB key)?
Meanwhile I have settled for an AppleTV m4v file that works, of course, on the AppleTV, but is scarcely better than standard DVD quality. What happened to Apple's era of HD???
It seems (based on how long it takes to convert, compared to other, similar conversions) that exporting for the Apple TV in QuickTime doesn't do 2-pass/multipass encoding, so it looks like it gives priority to speed rather than quality.
Edit: Another question: how do you connect the PS3 to your TV?

  • H.264 encoding for export - CS4

Does higher bitrate encoding equal higher quality results in all instances?
I can of course see increased bitrate encoding reflected in
incrementally larger file sizes, but the quality difference
seems to be much more subtle.
    thanks

My understanding of how material is broadcast these days is no matter what
you supply to the broadcaster... it is going to be "converted to something more
convenient for them to "send" to air.  Especially so with satellite where bandwidth is a
bigger issue.  Much broadcast media is file streamed from servers so understandeably the files sizes are eventually reduced.
I provide uncompressed avi and movs that in the final out come..., I know are broadcast at some level of MPEG.
eg 30 second HD TVCs  at 2GB files become 50mb mpegs.
My rationale is that give them the highest quality possible and let any degredation occur their end ( where  I have no control)

  • Artifacts in Using Save As for AVI to MOV Conversion?

When I SAVE AS a compressed avi file to mov, I am seeing artifacts (they look like interlacing errors) in the final mov file, vs the same frames in the .avi file.  Can I avoid this somehow?  The avi file was compressed with the BlackMagic Intensity code (I think it's motion jpg too).
The file sizes are the same.
Bummer, I bought Quicktime Pro just for this.  Any help appreciated.
    Thanks

Can anyone here tell me why two duplicate laptops treat the avi-to-mov conversion so differently and why I must export at 480p?
As to QT playback, either the codec component configuration is different on each system or the the AVI file contains a legacy video codec that is turned on for system "A" but left off for system "B" but which is included in the Perian bundle installed on system "B." With reguard to the forced conversion rather than a simple "Save As..." action, please confirm the video codec name given in the "Inspector" window for each system. I suspect that either the video codec is different on each system or that the Perian version of the same codec with a different name may be forcing the "Export" conversion.

  • How do I get a codec which will support my avi files?

How do I get a codec which will support my avi files from my D90?

Lightroom 5.5 is the latest version. If you don't want to wait for the next release, you can download Adobe DNG Converter 8.6RC which will transform your D810 NEFs into DNGs that the current version of Lightroom can use.
Download Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw 8.6 Beta - Adobe Labs
The above URL will evidently download both Camera Raw and the DNG Converter release candidates.
