  • File Error importing .mov

Here's the background... I'm trying to import a .mov file I've gotten from a friend's wedding DVD. Used Handbrake to convert the wedding DVD to the individual files. The handbrake output was a MPG4. FCP wouldn't import that. So, took the MPG4 to Quicktime and then exported that as a .mov. I get the message...
"File error: 1 file(s) recognized, 0 access deinied, 1 unknown."
What am I doing wrong. Just want to help him re-edit his wedding video.
    Thanks for the help.

it doesnt sound like you are doing anything wrong. can you open the file in quicktime (yes), then you should be able to open it in FCP. I have done the same thing numerous times. In quicktime take the mp4 and export a 'movie to quicktime movie'. settings, uncompressed (10 bit if you can) audio = best (the best settings for both). Make sure your project in final cut matches your qt output and import the footage.

  • File error importing animated sequence in fcp

hi, wondering if anyone can help, I have been sent some animated sequences and want to edit them in final cut studio.
they play in quicktime fine but if i import into fcp then i get the error : file error: 1 file(s) recognized, o access denied, 1 unknown.
I tried exporting and saving as other formats such as dv or quicktim e in quicktime pro but they all failed half way thru saving.
    any ideas?
    ade
movie info in quicktime is - animation 768x576 millions 25fps

    Hi,
I forgot why FCP gave me that message the last time around, but whenever something like this happens, FCP has problems with the file you want to import because of a codec issue for example. I find MPEG Streamclip to be very useful when this happens.
You can download and use it for free:
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
Simply open your movie with Streamclip and export as QT movie (I normally use the Animation codec so I lose as little image quality as possible). Then import into FCP and it will open.
    Most of the time.
    Hope this helps,

  • .mxf files not importing and crashing premiere

    Hello folks
I am editing an event project for a college class. We used three HVX and recorded onto P2 cards. We used about 8 p2 cards total.
Several of the files and entire folder of the video .mxf files will not import into premiere. I get a box stating it is importing them, but the program will state that it is not responding several moments later and I have to force close the entire project.
I have played these .mxf files on VLC player and they play, so I am unsure of how to get adobe premiere cs6 to accept these files without crashing if I can at all.
    Thank you,
    James

I am editing on a school PC (a dell) and it is using windows 7.
It is Adobe Premiere Cs6 I am not aware of any updates that have been updating (ex. patches) or what the internal parts are on the computer.
The video files are in MXF format.
I do not believe the proram is running any thrid party effects or codecs.
A handful of the MXF files will not import into premiere, but instead crash the system.

  • Error Compiling Movie: Unknown Error - compiling .mxf files and .png files

Hi there, really hoping someone can help here!
I'm attempting to output a Premiere Pro CS6 v.6.0.0 timeline through the AME V6.0.382 64bit and am getting the "unknown error" at various points during the output. The timeline contains .mxf files directly imported from a Canon MX105 recorded at 1980x1080 - the sequence is in the same resolution - 25p 50mb. It also contains .png slides, .jpeg slides, titles, transitions, 3-way color correction, mutliband audio compression, a volume plugin. I've tried "watching" the output as it renders and removing potential "bad frames" within Premiere but I've done this 3 times and they keep rearing their head later down the project, and I can't afford to remove any more clips.
I'm working on an OSx v10.8.2 Mountain Lion Mac with 2.6g i7 w/8gigs RAM.
Any help greatly appreciated, I'm quite new to this so any further information required to troubleshoot, just ask.
    Thanks,
    Paul

I'm having (what appears to be) the same problem.  I've spent a total of 8 hours talking to Adobe tech support about it, and they've said they would look into it.  Here is a project containing two consecutive frames of my animation; the first (4965) does not load (and appears with the "Media pending" image if you try to view it), but the second (4966) loads fine.  In every other application I've tried, both images load fine.  Adobe support said "there's something wrong with the header" but I've looked at them with several programs (e.g. below) and can't see anything different between the file that works and the one that fails.

  • 1. importing MXF files 2. Canon XF100

    1. Can MXF files be imported/ingested into FCP 7.0.3?
    2. Can anyone recommend a suitable work flow for FCP 7.0.3 and Canon XF 100 and Canon XF Utility and plug in
    3. If the Canon XF 100 FCP plug in has been installed should it be visible anywhere?
    thank you in anticipation

    1. Yes.  You need to download the Canon XF Log and Transfer plugin in order for this to work:
    http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0040354.asp?model=
    2. Yes...I have a full tutorial on the tapeless workflow with FCP, found here:
    http://library.creativecow.net/ross_shane/tapeless-workflow_fcp-7/1
    3. No...well, yes, but it is a system file buried in the OS.  Just install it, and then use the Log and Transfer workflow.

  • Import of MXF files cuts off at 30 seconds.

I am having trouble importing MXF files, the import cuts off at 30sec. I cannot import clips that are longer than 30sec. because FCPX cuts them off after 30sec. What am I doing wrong?

What kind of MXF?  What camera shot the footage?

  • PP CS6 give "general error" when importing MXF files

    Hi there,
I'm a videographer at a school and they recently purchased CS6 for me to use to edit footage. I shoot on a Sony PXW-X70.
However, anytime I attempt to import using Media Browser (or the input feature) any files from the camera, PP gives me an error (seen below).
The camera outputs XAVC files wrapped as MXF. I've tried importing files from this camera as well as from a Sony F5 and both sets of files don't work. I got the F5 files to import, but they don't play. However, I have also tried importing footage from a Canon XA10 and they did import correctly. So, it clearly has something to do with these MXF files.
I also downloaded a trial of PP CC and it imported the MXF's no problem. Adobe's literature seems to say that CS6 should import the MXFs without a problem.
    Any thoughts?

    Hi Brian,
    Thanks, Kevin.
Interestingly I tried a live chat with Adobe and they definitely told me the support cycle ended for CS6 and I'd basically have to ask a question on the forums here. But I'll try again and say it's an installation issue.
I'll let you know how it goes!
Yeah, you have to be very literal about it being an installation issue. If you still get the runaround, let me know and I'll have an agent contact you.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

I am on a PC. AE version 12.1.0.168. It is updated.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem. We are working on a feature film shot on Sony F55 in 4K RAW.

First, your AE needs to be updated. The current version is 12.2.1.5
If that does not fix the problem let us know.
Second question, are you using the Sony import utility? If not, give that a try. Last question, can you open the files in Premiere Pro? I hope you are not trying to cut a feature film in After Effects.

  • Premier CS6 importer error for mxf files

I can't import any mxf file into Premier CS6. I don't really understand this situation.
I have intalled Canopus.HQ.CODEC.v6.0.7 and for example my vlc media player plays fine all of my mxf files.
Can anybody help me solve this issue?
    Thanks

Probably because they want to be able to investigate the exact type of mxf file it actually is. Because I edit mxf files with Premiere cs6 fairly regularly and I never have issues. So obivously something is either different with that specific type of mxf or something is corrupted which I doubt. Could you upload a small test file? So we can see if it will import into Premiere on our systems. Also since you're saying they digitized them using a canopus capture device/card and or software I'm thinking you may need that software and or the specific codec installed on your system in order to actually make use of that type of file.
I'd recommend downloading the entire "canopus playback codec pack". This should solve your issue. However I have no way to promise it will, I'm fairly sure it should work... Simply google "Canopus Playback Codec Pack" and the first result will give you the info your need to get the full playback package. I'm guessing this your problem.

  • Media Encoder won't import MXF files from Canon XF100

I'm running Media Encoder CC on two laptops: a macbook pro and a macbook air. Both systems are running the most recent version of Media Encoder CC (including updates) but only one will import MXF files from a Canon XF100? The macbook air imports and encodes the files without issue, however the macbook pro won't import the same MXF files and kicks the following error:
The file /Users/.../.../.../AA0106.MXF could not be imported. Could not read from source. Please check the settings and try again.
I could understand if both computers errored but using the same file, one will import and the other will not. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Just try this and see if it will work for you.
Open iPhoto > Preferences > General and deselect 'Connecting camera opens: iPhoto'.
Change it to 'No Application' and close iPhoto.
Now connect your camera to your computer and turn it on or better still use a card reader.
If iMovie tries to open, close it.
Your camera/card should now appear as an external drive.
Copy/paste your video files into a new folder on your desktop.
    Eject and disconnect your camera/card.
Now open iMovie and go File > Import > Movies... and navigate to that folder.
    Z.

  • Problem importing canon c300 mxf files into Premiere Pro CC 2014

I recently shot some footage with a c300 at 24fps, slog2, 2 audio chanels. I copied the "contents" folder of each cf card to my macbook pro hard drive by dragging across in finder.
When I search from within Premiere Pro's media browser for my files, they show up only as VLC icons, and when I click to import them, I get an error message along the lines of 'unsupported format or damaged file".
I can double click the files in finder and they open in VLC fine.
I'm running the latest version of Prem Pro, Yosemite on my macbook pro which has 2.8ghz i-7 processor, NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB graphic card.
Does anyone know why this is happening?

You could try to convert your XAVC MXF files into MPEG, then load them again , but the new codec may not be well handled by some converters.

  • Importing .MXF file into Premiere Pro

Hi there, I'd like some advice on how to import .MXF files into Adobe Premiere Pro for editing.
At university, the Premiere software there can support it. It even has a Canon XF100 preset all ready for .MXF files to be imported into and editing. However, the version I have does not have that preset and thus can not support it.
I have come across a decent video converter that maintains the HD quality it was recorded in. However, it places a watermark above it unless I buy the full version. I am unsure, and as a student, it is pretty expensive.
So I'd like to know, is there a way of adding the Canon XF100/.MXF preset into Premiere so I can edit these clips? Or is there a free converter out there which maintains the HD quality without placing a watermark above the video?
I would greatly appreciate any help and advice for this situation.

    Hi kazpar0071,
I'm using the latest Macbook Pro, OSX Yosemite. 8.0.1 is the Build number of the software.
The preset is not there when creating a new sequence, however, I usually just create any sequence then drag and drop the media into the sequence, where Premiere will notify me that the sequence settings are different and whether or not I want to keep the existing settings, or change it, which automatically changes it according to the media.
This is not the case, as even when I attempt to import the media into Premiere, I get the error message 'Unsupported format or damaged file'.
Thanks for the info. In your case, the solution usually lies in signing out of Creative Cloud and then signing back in. Sign out, Sign in | Creative Cloud Desktop app
Does it work now? Afterward, be sure to ingest from the Media Browser and not File > Import or by dragging.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Trouble importing .mxf files into Premiere Pro CS6

Having problems importing MXF. file types into my Premiere CS6 project. I will go to import the folder and the yellow loading bar will come up to say that it's importing. Then it will freeze and the color wheeled loading symbol will come up (I'm using a Mac) and will just sit there. From there I'm forced to do a force quit on my project and re-open it again. Is there any way to fix this issue and if so what is the problem causing this issue?
Also my mac is running on OSX v10.7.5 and Premiere is running on cs6 v6.0.2

Yes, MXF should play perfectly in PP CS6, but if you can't work this out at this point, you may wrap your MXF video to something intermediate. as a matter of face, Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 seems to work fine if you import your MXF clips directly from a camera or camcorder, but if have already copied MXF recordings your HDD or you downloaded them from somewhere else, the import error may occur.
So i suggest you convert the MXF footage to something mezzanine we would recommend DNxHD.mov (if you are on a PC) or Apple ProRes .mov (if on a mac). those two intermediate codecs are good mezzanine codecs that handle recompression well and standup well in other areas of post-production (color grading, graphics, compositing, etc,). You can see what I wrote about the solution. "Why Premiere Pro CS6 can't import MXF files?" i hope that it is helpful to you.
