MXF OP1a Won't Import Correctly

While using Premiere Pro CC 2014 (most up to date version 8.2.0) files with the below properties show up as a red screen in the preview window. Premiere is not recognizing the audio at all. I'm working on an iMac 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB, OS X Yosemite Any ideas?

I'd be happy to take a look to see what might be the cause. If you have somewhere to upload them to please send me a link. You can send me a private message if you link.

  • MXF files won't import into Adobe Premiere CS6

I can't get mxf files to open in Adobe Premiere CS6. I'm working on the newest Mac Book Pro- OS X Yosemite 10.10.1.  I tried importing the files through the media browser but I can't open them that way either. I see the mxf video icon but when I try to open it I get this error message -"the importer reported a generic error."  I ran all the updates for adobe and apple, but still these files don't open. Help please.

If I double click on the word holiday, it just shows the file folders. In the file folders the mxf files still don't open.

  • GarageBand project won't import correctly into another project

I created a long podcast project using GB 3.04. The project consisted of one voice track. I decided to break it into two projects so that I could make it into two episodes. I created a new project and dragged part one to it. This worked just fine -- I was able to import other audio files and create my finished episode. However, when I created a new project for the second episode and dragged part two to it, the track was truncated to a fraction of its size and it contained no sound. The original of part two plays normally when I open it, but several attempts to import it as a track have produced the same result. Is there some setting that I accidentally tripped, or is the project file just corrupt? I don't want to have to re-record the track, but I've resigned myself to the possibility. Thanks.

Sorry, guess I didn't explain myself well. The original GB project consisted of one voice track that was around 45 minutes long. I decided that I didn't want the podcast episode to be that long, so I split the track region into two regions. Using the Edit -- Copy command, I created a separate GB project and pasted the second of the two regions into it. I tested the new project to make sure that it played properly, then saved it, re-opened the original, and deleted the second region (since it was now in its own project file). I named the original "part 1" and the new project "part 2". I then created a 3rd project file, to which I dragged the part 1 file and added music, imported mp3s from other podcasts, etc. This went off without trouble. However, when I attempted to do the same thing with part 2, I ran into trouble. I dragged the file for part 2 into a new project file, but instead of 18 minutes of voice recording, I get 3 seconds of dead air. If I open the file for part 2, it plays normally. I don't think I did anything differently with the two regions, but it wouldn't be the first time I've changed a setting or something without realizing it.
    Thanks for your interest.

  • Media Encoder won't import MXF files from Canon XF100

I'm running Media Encoder CC on two laptops: a macbook pro and a macbook air. Both systems are running the most recent version of Media Encoder CC (including updates) but only one will import MXF files from a Canon XF100? The macbook air imports and encodes the files without issue, however the macbook pro won't import the same MXF files and kicks the following error:
The file /Users/.../.../.../AA0106.MXF could not be imported. Could not read from source. Please check the settings and try again.
I could understand if both computers errored but using the same file, one will import and the other will not. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Just try this and see if it will work for you.
Open iPhoto > Preferences > General and deselect 'Connecting camera opens: iPhoto'.
Change it to 'No Application' and close iPhoto.
Now connect your camera to your computer and turn it on or better still use a card reader.
If iMovie tries to open, close it.
Your camera/card should now appear as an external drive.
Copy/paste your video files into a new folder on your desktop.
    Eject and disconnect your camera/card.
Now open iMovie and go File > Import > Movies... and navigate to that folder.
    Z.

  • Computer won't import CD correctly

whenever I try to import any CD, my computer will import it, but it plays as if it were a scratched CD when it's already on iTunes or on my iPod. It skips alot and won't play through. I'm starting to think it's more my computer than iTunes... my CD drive's been having trouble lately reading things, although once it starts playing, it'll be fine. It just won't import it smoothly. What do ya'll think?
    Compaq Notebook PC   Windows XP

I don't know, but something to try, is to rip it using WIndows Media Player in MP3 format. Then add it to the iTunes library.

  • MXF OP1a export problems  - URGENT

i am using the adobe cs5 mxf op1a settings to export my projects for tv stations.
at the tv stations, there are installed avid media compser and harris broadcast playout.
the problem is this - when the exported mxf project is imported in either the avid or the harris, these system crash or report a drop outs that cause the timeline to hang
this problem is not being reported by mxf exports done from Final Cut done by other production companies
i did some tests on the mxf produced from both NLE - Final Cut and Adobe suite with IRT MXF analyser light and found that the mxf produced from the Adobe suite generate a lot of errors from the Header, while exports from Final Cut do not generate any problems. Following is one of the test about 35 secs long advert. on a longer export the errors are A LOT

can this be the problem of other NLE's and playouts crashing?  We choose to have Adobe Suite because of it's direct export to MXF Op1a option, but this is causing a lot of trouble. Any help?

So the file seems to be functional to me.  I don't know why Harris is having trouble importing it - we'll probably need to reach out to their engineering group to get a handle on what they're having difficulty with.
(As to Avid, I believe that they use OpAtom files, so I'm not sure how to get Media Composer to import these successfully.)
The only other suggestion I have is to try using one of the IMX presets instead, see if they fare any better.
*edit:  for what it's worth, I tried generating an OP1a file directly using the MOG SDK sample code, and IRT generates the same errors/warnings that you listed for your file.  So I still suspect that the IRT tool's "errors" are probably false leads...

  • File won't import due to 'Too many audio channels'

I've managered to import one 30 minute video recorded off a screen recording program off the AppStore called ScreenRecordStd. This software has an 'include computer audio' button which I activated after the first 30 minute video.
Once trying to import any videos with this selection activated they won't import, telling me there are too many audio channels.. so I know it is due to this selection. The file information tells me I have two AAC 44100 Hz Stereo files as part of the video, when I change it to mp4 or h264 file formats it does import but the video/audio are not in sync when played through on Premiere Pro but are totally fine in QuickTime player.. also the second audio channel is a lot quieter when being played through on Premiere Pro than in QuickTime.
So, I hoping someone has came across this software or this problem and can help me. So I have two 44100 Hz stereo files within the video and the selection I am using says it can take up to three stereo files, so why is it telling me it can't import because there's too many audio channels??? I've tried changing the video to h.264, mp4 and they just struggle with the video being too slow and avi. just has the same issues as .mov.
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you.

Why do you convert the media to start with? Are you aware of that you are converting the camera's MPEG2 to the MPEG2 you get when creating the new MXF file? (XDCAM HD = MPEG2)
I would never ever re-compress/convert the already-in-camera-compressed MPEG2 to compressed MPEG2 for editing and then having it to end up in let's say either MPEG2-DVD or H.264. You loose one generation and i would not want to lose it by re-encoding to MPEG2 since, imo, re-encodong MPEG2 to MPEG2 should be avoided. (MPEG2 to MPEG2 = The quality is degraded too much) If you still want to re-encode the footage i would use another codec, DNxHD/CineForm/Lagarith. (Pick your favorite)
You can use the MXF files from Canon XF Utility in CS6. (The files MXF are just copied from the original folder structure, so no re-encoding is done.)
AFAIK, the problems with tearing video go away by using the MXF files you get from XF Utility. If the tearing is still present, close Pr and delete all Cache files. Open Pr and let the Generating Peak file finish.
AFAIK 8 audio channels are standard in MXF OP1a according to SMPTE D10.

  • HT4101 The SD card reader won't import images to the iPad. I purchase 10 months ago, and haven't had a problem with it until today. How do I remedy this problem? I'm about the go out of town and prefer not a travel with my laptop.

My SD card reader won't import images from the SD card. I purchased this product 10 months ago and have had no problem with it up to now. How do I remedy this problem. Using the product allows me to travel without a laptop ...Please help!

Have you tried to give your device a reset? Sometimes that helps with glitches. Hold down the sleep and home keys, past when you see the red power down slider and until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.
ALso, the card reader will only see files that are formatted correctly. If you just took the images from your computer and put them onto the card, then it won't work. They have to follow a strict naming convention. There has to be a folder named DCIM on the card and then all those images have to have a file name of exactly 8 characters, DSC_3857 for example. Your camera makes this naming structure but if you manually put the photos on that card you may not have replicated it.
Is this a card you've used before? If it's a new card and is empty then the iPad won't read it. Also if it's SDXC it won't read those either (XC cards use a file structure that the iPad can't decipher)

  • My iPhoto 2 won't import videos from my camera, only photos.

Like the title says, my iPhoto 2 won't import any videos from my Cannon SD1000 digital camera, only photos. A friend says it's because I have an old version of iPhoto, which is true, but when I looked for updates it basically told me I need to purchase a new version of iLife. What can I do about getting a newer version of iPhoto, or making it so it imports videos? It's inconvient using the softwear that came with the camera only for a few videos. Thanks, I could use any help.

    JordanFox,
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Your friend is correct; iPhoto 2 does not handle video files. You'll need at least iPhoto 5 to keep videos in your library. There is no other way to get it than to purchase a copy of iLife, either version 5 or version 6. Upgrades from one version to another cost money, updates within a version (ex; 6.0 to 6.0.6) are free downloads from Apple.
Try using Image Capture (in your Applications folder) to upload the video clips to your Mac. You can manage them yourself in your Movies folder.
    Regards.

  • MXF OP1a Master file converted to Blu Ray in AME to .m4v showa up in Encore as Untranscoded

Just started creating Blu Ray DVDs from MXF OP1a AVC-I 100 Master files.
I use AME to convert to BR matching the settings of the master. It converts successfully creating  video .m4v and PCM files.
When I import them into Encore 6.02, the Project window info displays the video file as  " Remix. m4v    Video file      Untranscoded".  And     " Remix.wav   WAV audio   "Untranscoded"
Whats up with that? If they have been trancoded by AME why does Encore say they are Untranscoded?

The project panel shows both the DVD and the Bluray transcode status/settings. Make sure you are looking at the Bluray column.
What is the audio format for your disk settings? If set to dolby, Encore will show your pcm as untranscoded. Also, try changing the setting for the pcm asset to "do not transcode."
    Are you using 5.1?
I use AME to convert to BR matching the settings of the master.
Are the settings of the master BD compliant?

  • IPhoto 6.06 won't import recent photos from iphone

I've been importing photos from my iPhone for over a year, and suddenly now iPhoto 6.06 doesn't seem to see the most recent pictures on the iPhone, and won't import them. iPhoto simply seems to ignore the last 18 photos on the iPhone. If I repeat the process, it imports the same 44 photos again.
Does anybody know what's going on, and how to fix it? I think something like this happened several months ago, and just when I was about to bring it to the Genius Bar, it started working correctly again. I'm not confident that it will fix itself this time, and even if it does, I want to know what's happening.

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Won't Import, Won't get Track Names, Won't leave the store alone

For some reason, even though I have it set to import a CD when I insert one, itunes won't import the CD unless I actually selected all of the tracks and drag them to the library. Once I do that, it either won't find the track names or says it can't, which I find very hard to believe.
Also it keeps trying to access the store even though I didn't set it to do so and it never actually accesses it even though it tries for quite a while.
    Anyone have any ideas?

    Hi,
I've got it to work sometimes, it appears to be my Broadband internet connection which is at fault. Upon checking it out it appears to be dropping intermittentley but when it's up at the correct speeds, itunes works ok.
    Thanks.

  • Exporting multiple audio channels from Premiere Pro CS6 in MXF OP1a

I have a Premiere Pro project with multiple audio channels and I want to export them as individual channels in a MXF-file.
    Method:
When I created a new sequence I choose "Multichannel" from the "Tracks" page. When I export the MXF OP1a, I choose 8 channels from the "Audio" page. I make sure that none of the channels are muted.
    Result:
The rendered file contains 8 channels as I want it to, but only the first two channels contains audio (main left + right), the rest of the channels are empty. Channel 1 and 2 contains the audio from all channels, but I want the channels to be seperated in the same way as they are layered in Premiere.
Any ideas what I can do?
    Thank you for your help!

    Hey Guys,
I'm having problems exporting an 8 channel audio mxf for a broadcast client. The mix they want is as follows:
Track 01: Full Programme Mix L
Track 02: Full Programme Mix R
    Track 03: International Sound L
    Track 04: International Sound R
Track 05: Music and Effects L
Track 06: Music and Effects R
    Track 07: VO Mono
    Track 08: Interview Mono
I have setup the sequence following this video on vimeo and am fairly confident I have the sequence settings correct. https://vimeo.com/38501157
I also can export a multichannel mxf. But all my tracks are exported as mono and I am therefore not maintaining my L and R as set up in my sequence
The problem is on exporting that since Tracks 01 and 02 are bounced down to 1 + 2 it means that my Track 01 (Panned L) is getting bounced down onto my Track 02 aswell and thus it does not remain seperate. Has anyone delivered a similar format for a broadcaster and come across this problem with Premiere Pro and know a solution?
Any help would be much appreciated
    Thanks
    Eamonn

  • CS6: Premiere exports MXF Op1a (mpeg based) but Media Encoder does not.

As a company we use several local machines with a full installation of CS6.
Premiere Pro exports in our broadcast format (MXF Op1a - mpeg based - Long GOP - 50Mb - Top Field First - etc...) still Media Encoder does not.
They we both installed in the same procedure, full installation of CS6. MXF presets are present on both directories (Premiere and Media Encoder).
ME simply doesn't recognize "any know exporters" even if I force a preset, when it comes to MXF.
We have to import every single video into Premiere to export as MXF. It's difficult to create an effective workflow this way.
Any thoughts on why is this happening?
    NOTE:
    - Updated twice all machines - first to 6.0.3, now to 6.0.5 = no result
    - Copied presets from a working trial installation = no result
    - Microsoft based OS core i7 with 12Gb RAM, 3Tb HD and Nvidia Quadro 4000
    Regards, RicardoM

I've read a lot of suggestions towards similar issues. None worked.
    - installed codec packs incluiding different mpeg variations = no result
    - copied /common preset files from premiere to AME = no result
    - copied and replaced the full directory of AME from another working AME (with MXF exporter) = no result
    - re-installed CS6 = no result
    - updated CS6 twice = no result
    - added MXF Preset zip file available in the official Adobe support (although it refers to mac presets) = no matter... no result
I really don't know what else to do.
It's difficult to accept suggestions like "format c and start over" cause of the impact on the production room, so I really need more options other than the extreme ones...
    Any ideia Jim Simon?
    Thanks in advance!
BTW: Must add that in all processes above, MXF exporting was allways possible in Premiere, just not in AME.

  • Photos won't import

Connected my iphone to sycnronize with itunes.
    itunes/iphone did not recongnize device
Opened up image capture. Unplugged phone and re-plugged it and then device showed up in image capture.
Attemped to go through the process to pull photos off phone and import into iphoto.
iphoto pulled all photos successfully - I clicked "delete photos" from device after import. Photos sucessfuly deleted from phone.
    Closed image capture
When back into iPhoto. When I clicked on "import photos" it would bounce to the "last import" screen and then an error message popped up that said jpg file is unrecgonizable.  I tried several times. Even tried deleting photos that it highlighted as unrecognizable to no avail.  Finally go frustrated and disconnected device and now the photos are gone. :-(
Are they gone gone?  It looks like icloud did a back-up last night.  If I restore my phone to the back-up on icloud will the pictures come back to camera roll?
How do I get them to import correctly?
    I'm sick over this!  Thanks!

Can you drag them to the Clips Pane? Sometimes the Timeline is fussy and won't import, but the Clips Pane should.
Are they accessible from the Media Pane in iMovie?
Do the photos function correctly inside iPhoto? Specifically, can you view them at full size, and will they open for editing?
