My 100 gb partition for windows is only showing up as 28 gb???
Basically i partitioned my macbook twice. The first time, i assumed 28 gb would be enough... and it wasn't. So i followed the instructions on Bootcamp help for creating a larger partition. I partitioned off over 100 gb the second time. This memory amount showed up when i booted up windows for the first time but when i restored windows from the disc image that i made before deleting the first partition it went back to 28 gb. When i opened up disc utitlities, it said i have over 100 gb on the windows partition. Windows just doesn't see it... help!
Thank u verrrrrrrrrrry much FoxFifth u save my life thank u.

If i create a partition for Windows 7, and boot up in Windows using Boot Camp, can I still access the files from the Mac partition (Photo's Music etc.)

Ok Great,
Will installing Boot Camp drivers allow me to both read and write to the OS X Volume from windows?
This is important as if it will it means i can make the windows partition a lot smaller and keep all my files on the OS X partition which would be preferable.

No, OSX will be read only (from Windows) and vice versa. (you can install 3rd party utilities on either or both partitions, to make read/write possible) -
Having an issue with creating a partition for Windows 8?
Hey, all. I'm trying to make a partition for Windows 8, but now it's stuck on the "shrinking the disc" phase of the partition. It's been over two, and it's only about 25% through. It's been there for a good hour and a half. Should I let it sit through the night, or do a full reboot?
Likely you have already figured it out by now and this is just a guess.
I suspect that if the flash skin is linking to it's embedded assets (not embedded) or is using css (same difference) then the flash player is not able to access the assets from the context of the page in which it is being included. Check for problems with the way that the paths were defined to those assets.

Do I have to partition for Windows as soon as I start my new MB Pro?
I have a new MacBook Pro coming tomorrow and want to partition for Windows. Do I have to do that right away or can I do later? I also have Parallel 6 Desktop coming in. Does that make any differecne before I start using my new Mac?!
Message was edited by: ITunesDadYou only need to partition for windows if you're using Bootcamp. If you're using Parallels than no partition is necessary.

Mac Mini won't boot to Mac after partitioning for Windows 7
system:
Mac Mini, late 2009
Intel
4 gig ram
500 gig hard drive, brand new
OSX
Mtn Lion with Mavericks just installed, runs ok
problem:
Adding 90 gig partition for Windows 7, now won't boot to either Mac or Windows
After a little bit sticky install of Mavericks, I had the thing running fine. I downloaded support sw onto the USB drive as per Bootcamp instructions, and started going through the wizard to install Windows 7.
First try: "error" while creating the partition. I ran the Disk Utitliy, Verify Disk, found an error, ran Repair, it fixed the error
Second try: it started making the partition again, and then apparently just zipped through the partition making real fast (it finished so fast I could hardly catch it), then shut down in an apparent restart (as it's supposed to?), and from then on it won't reboot all the way. I get about 15 seconds of gray screen, the Win 7 disk jerks a little, then screen goes blank and silence. No hd activity. Tried restarting with all the usual key combinations (Command-R, "X" key, Option key, etc, etc). Nothing will bring the Mac login screen up again.
What gives? It is such b.s. for this stuff to be so flaky. This is all totally current software on the Mac side, running fine for days, and an apparently ok partition created. Fix me, Apple.Got it. Thanks for the help. Isn't there any boot disk thing that I can just stick in there that will jerk the OS sideways and give me the Mac login screen, or did the Bootcamp/partition attack just wreck everything? I don't see why I have to do an entire scrape of my totally updated and formerly working OSX just to retry a routine Bootcamp partition, which the girl at the Mac Store in Seattle here assured me has worked for them all the time. It really is a crock. Maybe I shouldn't bother trying to put Windows 7 on there at all if all these latest versions are so flimsy. I wouldn't want to have to do it all again. But it looks like I'll have to at least once. And send Apple the bill for my wasted time. I ain't feelin' the glamour.

Strange error when Bootcamp attempts to create partition for Windows
I get a strange error when I tell Bootcamp to create a partition for Windows. I get to the Create a Partition stage. I select 20GB for Windows leaving 91GB (39GB free) for OS X. I then click Partition and it gives me the following error
*The disk cannot be partitioned because some files cannot be moved.*
Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again.
My disk is formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled), I have closed all applications (besides Bootcamp Assistant) and I have even restarted and tried again to see if that might help. Nothing. I can't get it to partition. Any thoughts? Can I partition my disk manually through disk utility and then select it in Bootcamp?Hi,
this gets asked at least a thousand times by now.
Have a look at this thread for solution http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10540273

After upgrading to OS Mavericks, I realized that the Partition for Windows is gone. I have really important data on this drive without a back up. Is there any way I can get this data before reformatting. Is there any third party software for receiving the data or any possible way? Money is not a limitation to this fix. Please help!!!
sure pretty simple. make a backup of your current settings
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766?viewlocale=en_US
then restore device from old backup you need pics off of
then import pics to computer
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
you may need to save pics to camera roll first
then restore the new backup and sync pics back to phone via itunes

The larger the partition for windows, the slower it will run?
Hello Everyone,
Someone has told me this was the case, The larger you put your partition for windows, your computer or windows will run slower. Is this really the case? i was planning to make windows 500GBs and Mac 500GBs, will this cause any issues?
Thank YouYep, even if you put them to 500GB each.
If this were true, 500+GB hard drives wouldn't be very popular. Also, IF there is any connection between HD size and speed, it'd be very very hard to notice. Generally, at least in the past, HD's with more storage feature slower drive speeds, so this is potentially where this untrue statement came from, however, I do believe that is a thing of the past and Windows will run fine on your 500GB partition, without any noticable speed difference from a smaller sized partition. The drive still spins at the same speed, regardless of partition size. -
I am getting an error when resizing the Mac HD. I had a separate partition for Windows, but have deleted it and want to add the empty 50GB partition to my Mac HD.

Help? Trying to create partition for Windows...
Okay so I'm trying to create a partition for Windows XP and I go to the Boot Camp Assistant and I have it set to 32 GB and I click partition and it says that I have to "repair the disk." So I go to the Disk Utitlity and I tried verifying my Mac HD and it couldn't even verify. Here's the description:
Verifying volume "Macintosh HD"
Performing live verification
Checking Journaled HFS Plus volume
Checking Extents Overflow file
Checking Catalog file
Incorrect number of thread records
Incorrect number of thread records
Checking multi-linked files
Checking Catalog hierarchy
Checking Extended Attributes file
Checking volume bitmap
Checking volume information
The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired.
Error: Filesystem verify or repair failed
Someone please tell me what does this all mean and tell me how to make the error go awayHello akl88066
To repair the Macintosh volume, you will need to boot and make the repairs from the install disk as described in the link below!

"...have tried all different sizes with no luck" tells us nothing about what size you tried. If indeed you tried all different sizes then you don't have enough space. What size did you try? What happens when you try? What error messages do you get? -
I have a MAC laptop, there used to partition windows XP but I want to change it to windows 7. and after my intstal do not want the road and a partition for windows missing. how to restore windows partition?
Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You have an Early 2008 Mac Pro. You have the specs that your Mac Pro needs for more memory > https://support.apple.com/kb/HT4433#4 As you can read, that computer should have come with 2 GB of memory.
You can buy memory at OWC or Crucial > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Mac-Pro-Memory#800-memory Those sell compatible memory with all Macs. You can use another memory, but you can be sure that the memory that these brands sell are compatible -

you can use WinClone for this http://www.twocanoes.com/winclone/ and in here http://www.twocanoes.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=515 you find a how-to.
(Topic: My current Windows partition is the wrong size, and I want to make it larger. How do I do this?)
Other people have used CampTune http://www.paragon-software.com/home/camptune/ successfully.
Prior to doing this you should make/have a backup of your OSX and Windows files for safety.
