My 10G iPod-Volume Levels Erratic + Freezing...HELP!

Admittedly, I have a 3 year old 10G iPod. But I'd prefer to getting it working well if I can instead of junking it for a new model. We've been through a lot together...ha ha
The problem with mine is that the volume levels jump in-between songs pretty often. I will be listening to it on the bus and then suddenly a new song will start at a mind-numbingly LOUD level, even though I have not touched the pad. At first I attributed it to how albums are randomly mastered at different volume levels, but I generally make a point to equalize them before loading onto the iPod. I also have the sound check function clicked ON.
Anyone heard of this problem? any suggestions?
It will also freeze playing occasionally, even though the song timer continues to play out. I'd say this happens every 20 songs or so. What's that about?
Should I try to revert back to factory settings? Or should I just throw in the towel?

Hi, i bought my Ipod touch 8g last week, now, when i play my music ( without earphones ) the volume is very low even though it is on full, in fact its pretty useless, it was much louder, has anyone got any ideas please? Thanks.
Maureen.

  • Ideal ipod volume level for vehicle use?

what is the ideal volume level to have your ipod at when used in your vehicle, considering volume control would then be controlled from the vehicles head unit? clear signal and sound quality are my concern. thanks.

It depends on far more information than you are giving.
How is it connected up to to the head unit?
Eith some connections, teh volume of the iPod is self is irrelevant and makes no difference.
I have mine connected thru a cassette tape adapter.
I set the iPod to about 2/3 way up. This seems to eliminate any distortion/static caused by the head unit trying to amplify too small of a signal (thereby boosting the noise also).

  • Speech Volume Leveler settings

    Hi,
I'm recording voice overs, and I have a few clips on a track that are louder or softer than others. I'm looking for the best track compression effect to keep the volume consistent. I'm trying  the "Speech Volume Leveler" effect (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/audition/cs/using/WS2bacbdf8d487e5822ff37ac212ce304d19b-8000.h tml) , but I can't figure out what values to select for "Target Volume Level" and "Leveling Amount".  I apply a "hard limiter" to -3db as my last track effect.
    Thanks for the help.

The "Speech Volume Leveler" effect (under Effect > amplitude & compression) creates an artifact or noise in my  recording.
    * Here is the recording with all track effects disabled:  No speech leveler
    * Here is the exact same clip, on the same track, with only the "Speech Volume Leveler" effect enabled : with speech volume leveler . There is a suction sound towards the end.
    * I've tried the default setting , I've also tried reducing the leveling amount, but I still get the same noise at the end.
    * All other tracks are muted.
    I'd really appreciate any solutions.
    thx

  • Showing volume levels from sound extract

    Hi
Is it possible to show the volume levels of an  mp3 by using the sound extract.  I have seen examples of representing  the  sound in wave forms, but im really looking for the volume levels.
    Any  help, would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I have been struggling with the same behavior. I find this not being a bug as pulseaudio just gives the control to the site. For example vimeo.com or youtube remembers the volume setting on it's internal volume control lever and restores it back from a cookie. Pulseaudio doesn't interfere with that and doesn't force it's volume levels.
Anyway, I would like to force the volume level for me. Is there such a possibility?

    Hi saiyed adil,
Thank you for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
It appears that your iPhone 5s sometimes produces low sound, but a restart corrects it.
It can take some time to isolate and resolve intermittent issues like this one, and I'd recommend going through the steps in this guide the next time it occurs:

  • Is there any "mechanical" helper to get my volume levels the same?

I create playlists from ratings,(and comments),- and albums have different volume levels. As I always use my ipod to go to sleep, it is very destructive, to not be able to hear my music one minute, and then have it much too loud the next.
Is there ANYTHING, free or chargeable, physical or software, that can help me get my itunes library to all the same volume level. My problem is agrivated by the fact that I do have some shared downloads, and also someone put my vynils onto cd for me, but at a lower volume.
I might add, that I'm still a learner on the computer. I have been told to change the soundcheck -playback -preferences -itunes. I have tried it, ticked and unticked - it doesn't make any difference.
I'd be very gratefull for some advice. Please HELP, this has been going on for ages. Thank you, in anticipation.

I'm SO very grateful for your help! Have downloaded it, and have started to use it, but havn't listened to results yet.(just about to) THANKYOU SO MUCH.
Thankyou so much again, this could be the end of a long (negative) era!
A bit later: have listened to a little, seems a huge amount better. will update when used properley.
I'm anticipating some being way out. Though it says it can overcome old changed volume levels, is it best in your opinion, to put them back to original setting?

  • Why is the volume level different from song to song in iTunes & on iPod?

When I play back songs in iTunes and most of all on my iPod the volume level is different depending what songs I am listing to. The biggest problem is with the songs that I get from my CD’s because the volume is very low. Why does this happen and can I fix it? Thanks, Robert

iTunes uses a feature called "SoundCheck" to attempt to equalize playback volume. There are actually 3 Sound Checks: 1 is for iTunes playback (set in Preferences), 1 is for iTunes burning (set on the Burn Disc dialog), and 1 is for iPod playback (in iPod Settings).
Make sure they are all enabled.
They are far from perfect, but they should help.

  • SAME VOLUME LEVELS ON IPOD MINI...

Is there in any way transferred music from itunes to ipod be played on the same volume level?..my itunes plays it in all on the same level but when i transfer it ipod it changes...
    thanks for any help guys...
    :>

The question is how does the iPod Mini play songs at the same volume - in other words how do you avoid having to turn the ipod up and down when playing files back as some songs will be played back louder than others.
iTunes has a facility called 'Soundcheck' which adjusts song playback levels so that all songs are the same volume. The iPod does not seem to have this facility and it can be annoying.
Any help with this issue would be appreciated

  • Sound check (volume leveling) not working newest ipod

    Dear Apple community,
Thank you for your help with this problem.
I am extremely disappointed with my new iPod. I have been using iPods for 15 years. Many years ago I solved the problem with volume leveling by using a fantastic program called iVolume. I have over 25,000 songs (collected over 20 years) in my music library and I have never had a problem with the different sound levels when I play them back through my various Ipods and Iphones over the years.
Unfortunately when I recently purchased the latest generation of iPod I quickly found out that volume leveling no longer works.   The discrepancy in the sound playback is most apparent when I use the bluetooth connection but is also present even when I play through the audio jack.  I have tried turning sound check on and off, and have done a complete reboot of my ipod, and have not seen any difference.
Any help with this problem would be most appreciated.

  • Volume levels on IPod Classic

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but the early generation IPods I have had all played music louder in my cars than the later version Nanos, IPhones, ITouches, etc.  I know this because with my Gen 2 IPod Classic (wasn't called Classic then) I listened to my music at volume level 48 and it played as loud as I like it.  With my IPhone, ITouches and Video Nanos, I turn it up to 58 and it's still not as loud as the Classic.  And, yes, I have the sound limiter all the way up, and I have kept sound check settings cosntant.  Were the early Classics known for reproducing louder sound vo

  • Increasing volume levels from Ipod

I have loads of AAC & MP3 files loaded on my Ipod but the volume levels are too low when played through the car AUX is there a way to increase the volumes before or after they download to the Ipod.

If you boost the volume of the songs in iTunes, you must then sync the iPod to iTunes once again in order to reflect the changes. If you have done this and still cannot hear a difference, then there is something amiss.
Same with iPod Volume Boost. It matters not that the iPod was manufactured for the European market, it should works with all iPods.
It work with two iPods in our family that were purchased in the USA.

  • Volume level on my Ipod Nano

I bought two iPods nano for my daugthers, after load both iPods the volume level is not the same in both, is there a setting to be modified in order to get the same level of volume in the second one?

Go to Settings>Volume Limit and make sure the triangle is in the same place for both (the end if no limit is set). If it's the same, make sure that you use identical settings and audio conditions when comparing the two, and then try with a different set of headphones. If there's still a difference, then the one with the low volume might need to be sent back to Apple

  • Help. Playback volume levels

I have downloaded several songs from CD, purchased and podcasts onto a playlist. They are saved at different volume levels and hence the volume varies from song to song on playback. Is it possible to equalise the volume of all songs in a playlist? Thanks

Use the soundcheck feature to level out the volume somewhat.
Apply it in iTunes using the edit/preferences/playback menu (Windows).
    iTunes/preferences/playback (Macs).
Turn it on on the iPod using the settings/soundcheck/on menu.
After applying it in iTunes, sync your iPod to reflect the changes made.
There are 3rd party programs that do this more effectively (at least in my opinion).
    For Windows there is mp3/aacGain.
However, this 3rd party software won't work on any DRM protected files such as those purchased from iTunes.
