My 12v chargers no longer charge my iPod why?

I have several 12v USB chargers that I have used in the past to charge my iPod v 5.0.1 model C008LL either in the car or on my boat.
Now I either get a "Charging with this accessory is not supported" Griffin Power Pod or the adapter charges (Griffin Power Jolt) but turns off
the play back making using it in the car impossible.  Whats up with that?

Did you do as suggested by Skydiver?  If you did and you still can not charge your iPad, you either have a defective charger, or you have a hardware issue with your iPad.  If you can try a different cable, or charger (do you know anyone who has an iPad?) to make sure it's not the cable.  Other than that, it might be time to make an appointment at the Genius Bar at your Apple Store.

after updating iOS on my iPod touch 4th gen my Philips speaker dock DC290B/37 no longer charges the iPod.  It will play music but not charge, is there anyway to find out if Apple is working on an update/fix?

    Try:
    - Reset the dock
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
Otherwise you are out of luck. Apple is not making any more update for the 4G.
Also check with Phillips. Maybe they have an firmware update available

  • My iHome no longer charges my ipod. How do I fix it?

I have an iHome model H120B that I have had for a little over a year. Until recently, it worked perfectly fine and I loved my little cube of an alarm clock. Then, one day it decides to no longer charge my iPod. It worked perfectly the day before, and then when I plugged in my iPod it said charging is not supported on this accessory. I have an iPod Touch 4g, if it helps. Any solutions on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

What system and iPhoto versions are you running?  Did you exoprt directly to the flash drive or the hard drive first?  If it was the former try the latter (to the hard drive) and check to see if the music syncs correctly.  What is the format of the flash drive?

  • My iPod 5th gen is no longer charging. I've cleaned out lint, switched chargers, and reset the device more times than I can count. I'm just wondering if there's anything I can do to fix it, or if it's a lost cause.

I've had my iPod touch 5th gen for a little over 2 years now. a few weeks ago, I went to plug my iPod into the charger. After about 20 minutes I went to go get it so I could reply to texts and clear some notifications and I noticed that it was still at 20%. So I tried a different cord, different outlet, cleaned out any lint that might be in there, and reset the iPod more than once. Nothing worked. Eventually the problem corrected itself. But then it happened again a few days later. And then it happened just recently, and now it's happening again. In total it's happened 4 times, the first 3 times its corrected itself, but this time it's not. I'm not sure if there's anything else I can do, or if it's just a lost cause.

  • My iPod Touch will no longer charge from a wall socket, only my computer. HELP!

My 4th generation iPod Touch will no longer charge from a wall socket, only my computer. I tried buying a new cable and USB charging socket (and I bought one made by Apple), but that did not fix the problem. I restored it from iTunes, hoping that would work as well, but that failed. I am at my wit's end. Can anybody here help me? I've bought new equipment, tried rebooting, restoring, etc. but nothing so far has proven successful. If anyone's got a solution, please help!
    Thanks!

  • My iPod Touch is no longer charging since iOS update

Hi, so I have three iPod chargers, and as far as I know, they should both work perfectly fine. One is super old, I've had it since my first second generation iPod Nano, and one is practically brand new, I've had it for a few months. The new one and the middle one are both store bought chargers, non apple brand, and whenever I try to charge my iPod with these chargers, the same error message comes up, saying that charging is not supported with this accessory. All I can think is, they worked perfectly fine until the latest iOS update. Now, neither are charging my iPod, and I have to use my old iPod charger from my old Nano. This would all be fine if (a) that charger wasn't falling apart with electrical tape holding it together and (b) it wasn't shared with my mother. I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this problem with store bought chargers. No way do both of these chargers just decide to stop working around the same time. I'm just wanting to know because I don't want to find out Apple created a new thingy in their update that stops non-apple accessories from working. (They already did that so that my car charger never worked with my new iPod).
Oh, and in case it matters, my iPod is the iPod Touch 4 (bought just a couple months before the iPod Touch 5 came out, so I think it's a 4s).

Does it charge on a computer? Does it appear in iTunes?
    If so:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings

  • Ipod will no longer charge on docking station or car dock

My ipod will no longer charge while it is playing on my docking station or on the car dock. The only way I can charge now is with the genuine charger which means I can only listen for a couple of hours and then have to charge up again. Any ideas?

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer

  • IPod no longer charges

After the unfortunate decision of updaing to 7.0 and the 1.2 firmware upgrade, my iPod was a brick for about two weeks. I stumbled upon a potential solution: download itunes 6 and the previous firmware update for my iPod, and all was going smoothly, until when I plugged in my iPod.
The battery was understandably low, as it had been a paperweight for two weeks, and didn't seem to be charging. It finally ran out of battery, and will no longer charge on my computer, my roomates computer, my Xbox360, nothing at all. However, Windows explorer recognizes it as a removable disk drive, but with nothing in it.
I was wondering if anyone else had this problem, and if anyone knows any potential fixes/solutions?

I've just this minute identified a similar problem.
Noticed my iPod hadn't been charging through USB to my work PC, and the iPod itself stuck on the dim "Do Not Disconnect" screen after I'd ejected the hardware on XP. However, once I reset it (center button and menu) it seems to have charged ok.

  • Ipod touch no longer charges in car after software upgrade. Wants app?

I have an Ipod touch 4th generation. It was working beautifully connected to the USB port in my 2012 Honda CRV until I upgraded the software to 5.1.1. Now it says that I need an App but it won't tell me what App and it no longer charges through the car's USB. It still plays through the car stereo but I have to disconnect it from the USB to control it.

You can try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
If still problem then the iOS broke full compatibility. you have to then wait for either Apple to fix the problem in an iOS update or for Honda to fix it via a firmware update/
    Have you contacted Honda?

  • My daughters ipod 4th gen will no longer charge past 20% and will not connect to a pc in order to back everything up. the cable is working fine, otherwise it would not even charge to the 20%. i have tried the reset to not lose any data and no luck. help!

my daughters ipod 4th gen will no longer charge past 20% and will not connect to a pc in order to back everything up. the cable is working fine, otherwise it would not even charge to the 20%. i have tried the reset to not lose any data and no luck, home+power for 10-15 seconds. I really would like to not lose everything she has, again, because I can't back it up this time. I have tried charging via a wall outlet and PC and both charge fine, just only to 20%. I am using the cable that came with it so no aftermarket issues there. Please help so I don't have to reset everything again.

Because once it has charged enough to be powered on as soon as you turn it on it says battery is at 20% and will not charge anymore after that, it just runs for about 5-10 minutes before the battery dies again. The battery cycles discharge/recharge daily and its not on the charger at full charge for more than a couple hours and is never totally dead for more than a couple of hours.

  • IOs4 upgrade, 3gs no longer charges on Altec radio / iPod player

Ever since my iOs4 upgrade, my 3gs no longer charges on my Altec radio / iPod player.
    Any ideas?
    TIA

No suggestions. Sorry. But to share the pain. 4 must be the Vista of Apple. Since upgrading my 3gs gets physically very warm, which never happened before. I can't leave the phone charging connected to my notebook via a USB cable, which I could always do before: the phone actually drains. The multitasking feature is lousy: every app I run stays on, I can't control what is running unless I physically turn off the app, which is a design defect. How do I return the phone to the old OS unless and until Apple gets its act together?

Try a Reset of the Phone... You will Not Lose Any Data...
Turn the Phone Off... ( if it isn’t already )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... (But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    Turn the Phone On...
