My 1400 HP all in one printer sometimes prints gibberish.

The printer has always worked fine and just started this problem.  It doesn't happen every time.  Just random. It is hooked to a computer running windows XP.   Thanks for your help

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @BapuKusu ,
I read your post about how you can only print in color from Chrome. I have a suggestion or two that may help!
Try resetting your browser settings: Reset browser settings
If you are running Windows, try the Print and Scan Doctor tool.
If you are still having the issue, please let me know which OS you are running and any errors you may see and we will go from there.
Have a wonderful day!

  • All-in-One printer spasmotic failure

I run 2 computers, using XP, and an Officejet 6310 All-in-One printer.  Recently I have been having trouble getting the printer to print.  Usually this happens when I start up my computer and printer, and the 1st print job results in the printer to hang-up, and the small camera-type sign on the bottom left front panel flashes.  I unplug the machine, wait 30 seconds, and re-try.  Sometimes this works, and sometimes not.  What's going on, and what can I do?
I have tried re-installing the printer and drivers, but no change.  I checked all the connectors, and they all seem to be OK.
Should I start my computers befor turning on the printer?  or the other way around?
I have been using this printer for several years without any trouble, then this started.  Maybe I had an update in XP, or by HP, that it didn't like?  I automatically update software for these products.
    Help.

  • All-In-One Printer- bad characters when printing

I have an OfficeJet T45 All-In-One printer, and PC with Windows XP.  When I want to print multiple pages the first one often times prints just fine, but the remaining pages do not print the right letters and characters- it's as if you are printing a foreign language with the numbers and letters all jumbled up.  Sometimes it's just the numbers in a document that print like this but not the letters.  I find this to happen most often when I use the command box at the bottom of the page that comes up when you request printing a document, rather than the pull-down menu item on the task bar that says print.  I also have a Brother-brand printer and have had the same thing happen.  I can print the document to another printer and have no problem.  I have replaced the printer cable in the Brother printer but it still occurs.  Any ideas?

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a printer assistant

    Hi!
So, I replaced an HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Plus with an HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911. Subsequently the HP Printer Assistant desktop shortcut disappeared from my computer --  and apparently from the computer entirely because it eludes searches as well. So multiple times (like, 20 times) I have removed and reinstalled the printer on this computer because sometimes -- not every time, infuriatingly -- immediately after installing the printer from the online driver, the Printer Assistant opens -- but there doesn't appear to be a way create a desktop shortcut for it. As soon as I close it, it's gone forever, and it's just not practical to have the Printer Assistant open all the time. The next time I want to scan something wirelessly, I have to go through the process again. It's driving me insane.
Is there any way to download just the HP printer assistant software, or some sneaky way to create a shortcut for it? It's the only efficient way for me to interact with the printer for scanning (the bulk of the printer's usefulness) at my home office, and if I cannot get it to work consistently, this will be the last HP product I buy.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
Follow the steps below to repair the software installation when cliking the HP Officejet Pro 8600 will not launch the HP Printer Assistant software, these steps should resolve a such:

  • Hp 6310 all in one printer keeps automatically uninstalling

    HP 6310 All-in-one printer purchased in 2008.
The printer keeps automatically uninstalling itself.
    1.  I have tried everything including downloading drivers.
    2.  I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled from disc.  It still keeps happening.
    3.  I have tried leaving the computer and printer on over night so that the setup does not change.  No it still happens.
    4.  Even when I do get it printing.  It can print of some pages.  The after some pages it decides that it and the printer has again uninstalled.
    5.  It can take hours to get the printer to work.  Installing, switching the printer on and off.  Even when the printer is set up and states its all ok.  The printer won't work.  Well sometimes it might but mostly not.

  • Printing 4x6 pics using the hp 1410 all in one printer

Printer hp 1410 all in one
    OS Windows 2003
    Computer Dell
Pictures downloaded from the internet and saved into "my pictures"
I am currently  trying to print using 4X6 glossy advanced HP photo paper.  I go to print I select paper size 4x6 with tab.  On paper quality I select "other photo paper" as advanced photo paper is not an option(which I was directed to do so on the box of photo paper).   I changed the width guide and put photo paper with tabs facing me and hp symbol up.  The paper goes in half way and then the "check paper' light comes on. The picture paper jams and there is no ink on the paper.  I have referenced the user guide and I am following all instructions to a tee but to no avail. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Printer hp Photosmart C3180 all in one
    OS Windows XP Pro
    Computer Dell Optiplex 745
Photo is JPEG on my computer
I'm having a similar problem with hp c3180 all in one printer, trying to print on 4X6 photo paper.  I assumed it was because the back rollers were needing cleaned since that's always where the photo paper gets stuck (can't make the bend), so I did as I'd found in instructions elsewhere and cleaned those rollers with distilled water on clean, lint-free cloth.  Didn't help, still jams there in the back every time.  Printer thinks it's working OK sometimes, goes ahead and "prints" without getting any of the ink onto the photo paper since it's stuck there in the back and doesn't advance past that point.  Very frustrating, can't get even one photo to print.

  • Trouble with findig printer with Bonjour (HP all in one printer)

    Hi,
I have a problem with connecting to my HP Printer.
When the printer and the iMac is booted freshly I can connect to the printer without any problems, also I can find the printer trought the printer browser via Bonjour.
But after a while the connection is completely lost with the printer, the only way I can connect to the printer is by IP, the dns name (http://HPxxxx.local.) is also not working anymore.
The only solution is turning off the printer and putting it on again, even sometimes I have to restart the iMac.
Is it possible a new installed wireless modem/router is cousing this odd behaviour ? Because it looked like the trouble whas coming after the new router was installed.
When I ping to the printer I can see there are some timeouts from time to time and when the timeouts take too long, the result is that I can't find the printer trough Bonjour anymore.
    Thanks!

    Hi cowla1,
I understand you need the drivers for the HP 6500A on a Mac. I can help you but will need some more information.
I have provided a link for the drivers up to 10.8. The 10.9 drivers show the documentation to run the Apple Updates for the driver install. HP Officejet 6500A e-All-in-One Printer - E710a Drivers.
Select your operating system, click next and click on the software to download and install.
Make sure when you add the printer, it shows the printer name and not the printer name + Airprint.
What operating system are you using? Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)
Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.

  • HP Photosmart Premium Fax All-in-One Printer ( C309a) - won't turn on

Greetings everyone, I am hoping someone is able to help me.  Whenever I plug in my Photosmart Premium Fax All-in-one printer (C309a) it doesn't power up even though  the green light on the adapter is on. Has anyone had a similar issue?  Does anyone know how to rectify this problem?
    Thanking you in advance.

    Hi lmd2012,
I am linking the troubleshooting guide for the problem you are having.  Click Here
Sometimes, I have been able to resolve power problems by moving the power connection from one working outlet to another working outlet.  Be sure to plug the printer's power cord directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector, power strip or battery backup).

  • HP PhotoStupid C7180 All-In-One printer

I've had this printer since 10/07/2007 and have had to uninstall and reinstall the software close to 24 times. When it works it works but when it doesn't it is a pain. I sure as hell have not overused it. It's been a really light duty family printer of which I am the only one wirelessly connected to it. When I want a fax/copy/scan/photo I expect it to work but have been so disappointed. The scan module sometimes lurches back and stalls the machine so it has to be powered off/on. The fax buttons will not work due to the scanner issue. I f I go into the IP web screen for the printer it will scan . All settings always appear to be okay, the three utilities HP offers on the website usually find "everything is a-okay". I've downloaded the current full printer software but it doesn't fully work. I've even tried the reset with pressing * # at the same time. No Luck. Is there a total factory reset command? I haven't found it. This is my 2nd HP PhotoStupid All-In-One printer . The 1st was a 2510 which had an internal wireless adapter failure. I probably will not buy a 3rd.

There is a document for a partial reset here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00720603&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=1153754&tmp...

  • All in One Printer no longer scanning (C5280)

I have an oldish printer/scanner that was working fine until I downloaded the update that came from HP on Aug. 13th. Since then, I cannot scan. I got an error message that the machine was disconnected from the computer which made no sense since I can print from the computer just fine. I did all the things the error message suggested: rebooting, disconnecting the cable, redownloading the driver. The machine worked for about 5 pages of the scan after the redownload, then conked out again.
I saw some directions about going into the registry editor window but they were for Windows 7 and below. I have Windows 8. I did not see a folder for Digital Imaging in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/H-P
If there are updated directions for Windows 8, pleae let me know.
I have an All in One Printer (C5280)

Hello @Toonces , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing scan issues.  I would like to try and help.
I would suggest Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once it is uninstalled, I would suggest putting your system into clean boot mode within the Microsoft configuration.  You can do so by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest reinstalling the HP Photosmart C5200 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver.

  • Hp officejet pro 8500 premier all-in-one printer

The above printer is 1 1/2 years old and it has stopped printing.  When the printing became light, I installed new print cartridges less than a week ago.  Now, after five days, the printer is consistently cleaning the print heads and aligning the print heads and my documents are not being printed.  And, what is most frustrating, during all the cleaning and aligning, all of my new ink is gone and I'm receiving a message replace ink cartridges.
Re: Problem with HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer: cleans printheads every time it's turned on

    Well,
to this is say, "get used to it", or throw it away.  Many, Many, Many people have had trouble with this printer.
The following are common and frustrating issues that this printer exhibits on a regular basis:
    1.  Constant Self-Checking (usually every 20-30 pages of print)
    2. Very persistant Printhead Cleaning/Checking, (Every startup and after about 20-30 pages printed).
    3. Worn-out printheads (usually within 1,100 to 1,500 pages printed).
    4. Paper mis-feeds.
    5. Paper jams.
    6. Nearly impossible to use once the printer reports ink-depletion.
    7. Nearly impossible to use CIS Ink for larger print jobs.
    8. Ink and printheads "expire" regardless of when they are placed into service. (get a deal on ink or printheads last year?  Too bad, the warranty is already expired, most likely).
In short, this printer is the most EXPENSIVE printer I've ever owned, and the most frustrating to use.
I have just over 2,000 pages of regular text printed matter with very little color, and have already gone through 4 sets of ink, and 2 sets of PrintHeads.
Although it's true that you can leave the unit on, and let it go into standby, you should NOT be punished with constant and time-consuming "self-checking" everytime it's turned on, or prints a handful of pages, BUT, it does NOT appear that HP will be standing behind this printer disaster.  AND, to make things worse, they've gone on to redesign it, giving it a different look, and so there are about 6 different models/versions of the OfficeJet Pro 8500.
Anyone needing a reliable print/fax/scan/copy solution should look beyond this printer, because it will leave you wanting more, and spending more than you ever imagined you would have to on a late model printer.ro
What is going on?  Why does it just automatically clean and align?  I also get alignment failed messages.  Any suggestiions?

    rammerjammer,
Thank you for bringing this to my attention, your feedback is very important and I want to do my best to help.  To answer what is going on, since the printing became light, started cleaning itself constantly, and fails the alignment, the printhead was damaged.  Click here to see and use the Limited Warranty for HP Ink Cartridges, Printheads, and Related Supplies.  There are many ways to contact HP.  The number to call is 1-800-474-6836 for HP and Compaq products for Home & Home Office use.  If you no longer have a warranty with the printer you can still use the warranty that comes with the printhead or ink cartridges.
If you have a carepack with the printer that extended the one year warranty then the troubleshooting will be covered along with the printer if the printer needs replacing.  Check product warranty here, see HP Out of Warranty Support Options for Select HP Consumer Printers here.
To order a new printhead you can go to HP Sure Supply and enter your printer or go to the HP Parts Store and order the printhead by part number C4900A for the Black and yellow and part number C4901A for the Cyan Magenta.  These printheads go by region also so be sure you are using the right region, these were found using the United States region.
The HP Officejet Pro 8500 Premier All-in-One printer has separated the ink cartridges from the printheads.  The ink cartridges are on the lower left and the removable print heads are on the carriage inside the printer.  The printer goes through a calibration process when turned on that will use ink.  Leave the printer on and let it go into stand by mode.  This type of printer is energy star efficient and made to calibrate on start up and be left on.  Allow the printer to clean or calibrate only if the printer must.  If it starts cleaning a lot it may be time to do a little maintenance to the printer (recommend once a month for maintenance).  Please see the following links for further details.
    Cleaning the Printhead Contacts
Printer Paper Tears, Wrinkles, or is Damaged while Printing from the All-in-One
Paper Path Issues in the Automatic Document Feeder
    Officejet Pro 8500 User Guide
The printer has a duty cycle of 7.5k page/month.  The XL cartridges have a composite page yield of 1.4k pages with about a third of the black ink left over.  To me it would seem that the printhead should last somewhere in between.  This printer was designed to save money on ink compared to the rest of the officejets.  I hate that it has been causing so much trouble, hopefully the information I provided will help.

  • Driver question - my all in one printer will print but not scan

    Hi
I have an HP c4280 (you know, the all in one printer you could get for free with the mail in rebate in 2007). I just plug it in and my mac recognizes it as a printer, and it prints fine, but image capture does not recognize it as a scanner. Before I upgraded to leopard I had all of HP's stupid software installed but after upgrading to leopard it didn't work (surprise). A lot of other things didn't work either so I did an erase and install and now everything works beautifully (I feel like I have old Tiger back, but better). However, I do not want to install HP's stupid overbloated and highly unnecessary mountain of software on my nice new clean system (I have turned into kind of an apple-only purist I guess ^_^). I checked HP's website and all they have is the same ginormous software bundle for download, and the installation wizard does not allow the option to install only components of the software (its all 28 programs or nothing). So, my question is, does anybody know where I can find only the driver I need (or WHAT driver I need) to make this printer compatible with image capture so I can scan?

You need to download the full featured driver from the HP site, and it also seems HP has an update for the Leopard installation as well.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=219&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&produc t=3192753&lang=en
I too have a C4280 and wasn't able to use my scanner until I had fully installed the HP software.

    http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/en-gb/app/hp-all-in-one-printer-remote/94883cdd-504d-4e94-871c-c70...
this eventually asks me to create a Microsoft account. I don't care to have Big Brother Bill Gates be involved in my HP printer driver.
But finding no way around this, I finally try to make one.  It asks for an email address, but the domain is restricted to either Hotmail or Outlook! HELLO? Are there only 2 email providers on the planet?  I am stunned. Did a single human test this software?
I finally did the traditional search for a driver, not an app, and find one on the HP site.
Lesson... if you're on a laptop, and see the word "app," run as fast as you can.

    Hello Seahorse1305,
    Welcome to the forums!
I am here to assist you with the printing issue you are having with your Photosmart B210. The first thing I do recommend, is running the HP Print and Scan Doctor to find and fix printing and scanning problems. If there is more of an issue that the tool cannot fix, it will let you know what the problem is.
Please let me know how this turns out for you!
