My 160GB ipod classic doesn't sync properly because of silly accident - HELP pls!!

By accident my iPod classic got disconnected in the middle of the sync process. Ever since, it can sync onlt 1GB of my 50GB music collection. Now while it syncronizes, at times it stops and reads "connected". It freezes for a while and then the -69 error pops up and also and a dialog appears that my iPod cannot be accessed. Below is what the Diagnosys mode shows. Do you think it is too screwed up??
Thank you!!

Yes have it replaced, You Realloc numbers are too high, it will keep increasing, as the Hardisk start and stop trying to locate some good sectors to write data.
Most likely your iPod  battery drained out fast too.
If it is under warranty, bring it in to APPLE store for a replacement.
Have a nice day!

160gb ipod classic won't sync since update to 11.2.2, system wants to wipeout all current info on device

same has happened to me,  on and off,   for the last 6 months.   Its an issue with the Mavericks system and ipod classics.    works great for a while -  then one day for no reason - erases the entire iPod.   some days the copmputer will not recognize the iPod and you have to start over.  Apple will tell you that "you" may have a disc problem in the device.  that is all the help I have received.

  • IPod Classic doesn't sync all music in my library

My iPod Classic doesn't sync all my music.  When I view my music files, the files that do not sync re not bold like the ones that sync correctly.  All files play on my computer.

The iPod can only Sync with one Library.
Your best option would be to add all the songs to one Library and then Sync with that.

  • IPod Classic won't sync properly?????

I have a 160gb iPod Classic and I'm using a 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5 Macbook Pro, Early 2011, running on Yosemite.
So I was using my iPod the other day and it hanged so I reset it like how I normally would by holding the center and menu button but the next thing I knew, all my music was gone. I plug it into my computer and it tells me the iPod is corrupted so I have to restore and stuff, which I do, and then I try syncing all my music again (only about 4,000 songs, 30gb) and the same thing happens, my iPod tells me there are no music.
I've tried resetting, restoring, and resyncing countless of times and I figured it was broken so I brought it to the Apple store, only to have the personnel tell me there's absolutely nothing wrong with it, and they even managed to sync the store's playlist into my iPod.
So I bring it home again and try and try and try and it just doesn't work. It's frustrating because it takes forever to sync all my music in and then nothing shows up and it freezes a lot and I've to reset it and it takes forever to reset because it gets frozen at the Apple logo. And it doesn't always show up on my iTunes, even when I put it in Disk Mode. Ugh not sure what I'm doing wrong, there might be something wrong with my iTunes but I've managed to sync the same content into my iPhone so I'm not so sure. Plus I don't know how to troubleshoot my iTunes since there's no way for me to uninstall it on my mac. I'm using the most current iTunes.

    Hello Stevie A B,
The article linked below provides details about this error and steps to help resolve the issue.

  • My 160gb ipod classic won't sync to itunes on a mac (I've tried everything)

Just got a 160gb ipod classic off of craigslist. The slate grey one.
It says "connected eject before disconnecting" on the ipod when I plug it in and nothing shows up in itunes.  Every once in a while the "sync" circulating arrows start up, then stops and goes back to the plug symbol.
    It isn't available under "devices".
I updated itunes, I restarted my mac, I put the ipod into and out of recovery mode (while plugged into itunes and on it's own), and still nothing.
Everything on the ipod works perfectly fine.
One thing to note, is the ipod is completely full. It has like 3kb of free space. Could this be part of the problem? Is there any way to delete directly off the ipod not through itunes?
Is it possible that it's formatted for windows and needs to be reformatted for mac? If so, how do I do that?
    Please help!

  • ITunes 9.1 on early 2009 mini w/160gb ipod classic can't sync

Having all kinds of problems syncing from iTunes to the iPod. At first I was getting the error saying it couldn't read or write to the iPod. Now it's saying unknown error (-50).
Went to Apple store yesterday. Guy there said Their solution? Delete itunes and download and reinstall. So I did. No change in problem. Now they want me to bring my ipod AND my mac into the store (at least it's a mini).
This is ridiculous and utterly unacceptable! Especially if this turns out to be the result of Apple's screwing with Palm as was suggested on another thread.
I'm going to try an old version of iTunes, I found 8.2 for mac and will see if that fixes things.

Have wasted untold hours since Friday on this. Am totally disgusted right now!
Have been trying to sync my itunes library with my ipod. Hasn't been synced for a while so there are a lot of things to update. That failed, so I restored to original (downloading and updating the firmware, wiping the ipod to factory and starting over) and it still failed.
Have moved files from the external hard drive to the internal hard drive (this is a mac mini). Still fails.
Tried a powered USB hub - still fails.
Tried manually copying files to the ipod - still fails, though because it's manual I am able to more easily control what gets copied, when, etc. and recovering a little less painful, but it's all manual at that point, and it still regularly times out with errors.
Tried iTunes 8.2 - still fails.
Yesterday I visited the Apple store and the guy said my ipod classic was pristine, and not making any abnormal noises or indicating any other signs of problems. He said to drag the iTunes app to the trash and download and reinstall iTunes. Still fails.
He said the only thing left would be to bring my Mac in and make another appointment. So after spending the entire morning trying to get this to work I finally begrudgingly make an appointment for when I thought I'd be able to come in. And then started a backup (clone) of my drive (just to be safe!). As it grew time to leave, the backup was still running, so I rescheduled the appointment.
The backup was STILL going, so I rescheduled again. And of course it was STILL going, so I tried yet again! The concierge page said 2:20, 2:40, 2:50, (4-6 times in the afternoon and 9 in the evening, for iPod visits) were available. I selected what I thought was reasonable (about an hour 20 minutes later - because now I had to come up with lunch for my daughter, I had planned on stopping on the way in to the store) and was told I was not allowed to have any more times today.
No worries, I figured I'd call the store directly. After sitting on hold for who knows how long (no big deal, at least it told me how long I was in the queue and that was tolerable) the guy says there's no more times available today, they are all booked up. SO - they are all booked up? 13+ appointments all went poof in less than 10 minutes? On a Sunday? Really? I mean, maybe they did, but it sure seems odd given what I was seeing throughout the day.
All because the backup was taking longer than normal, no doubt because of all the futzing around I did trying to get things to work. Normally the backup takes about 45 minutes - it's been going 90 minutes now and is still going. And just so I could bring the computer in with the iPod so they could see "Yup, it's not working!" I don't know what I expected - I seriously doubt they could do anything I've not already tried.
There are only two possible issues that I have not been able to isolate - the mac mini itself or the cable I'm using. That's why I was even willing to go through all this hassle and go to the store.
Fortunately 90%+ of my library are MP3s and not AAC, so I'm not locked in (Amazon has some great specials on MP3 albums) - and to think, I had been planning on getting a 64gb ipod touch. Not any more!

  • New computer, new iPod Classic - doesn't sync my purchased tunes

In a perfect storm of technical catastrphies, my desktop PC went belly up, followed by my iPod. When I bought a new PC, the dealer transfered all My Documents, including Music to the new PC. 2 weeks later, my old iPod likewise demised but my wife bought me a new iPod Classic for my birthday. It was easy to sync my iTunes library to the new iPod except I have notice that many tunes are not being synced to iPod. Looks like none of my purchased tunes are being transferred and I get a message informing me something to the effect that this PC wasn't liked to this iPod or somesuch.
Any body know how to get around this?

    Hey there,
Before you can transfer of play any songs from iTunes you have authorize your computer first. To do this just head to +Store->Authorize Computer+ and see if that does anything for you. Hope this helps.

  • 160gb Ipod Classic does not sync

Hope someone can help. Purchased a new Ipod classic for my mother two weeks ago and created a new music iTunes library for her. The Ipod charged up but when it came to syncing it just would not work.
It appeared in the iTunes window with the correct Ipod name (although it showed up as a Mass USB storage device on my PC rather than an Apple ipod), the sync started and showed various songs being copied but then suddenly cut out saying that there was an error, that iTunes had stopped working and had to close.
This happened on a couple of occasions and even when I tried it with my own iTunes library that crashed as well. I reset the factory settings on the Ipod - no joy, same fault; however, I tested my own Ipod nano and that was fine.
Spoke to Apple and they went through various steps with me - none of which worked. Asked me to shut off my firewall and PC protection, remove iTunes and all associated software from PC and then reinstall - they would call me back the following day to see if that helped. I did this but exactly the same problem is occuring, no music copies to Ipod and even the few tracks that are shown as being copied.
Phone call from Apple and after a couple of tries at syncing they got me to into the disc menu on the Ipod but it would go no further so whatever the next step would have been I am not surer, it has now stuck on that menu and will not even switch off!
    Any ideas?
    Thank you.

I have had a similar problem with my iPod not syncing all my Trailer Park Boys episodes. What I did to fix it was in iTunes, if you go to the TV Shows tab, you'll need to make sure you check all TV Shows get synced to the iPod not just unwatched episodes. Once you do that you'll see that all will work nicely.

  • 160GB iPod Classic Won't Work Properly with speaker systems

My 120GB works fine with my iHome, and a new speaker system I just purchased... because I thought my iHome was broken, because when I used my 160GB in it, it didn't respond to "play/pause" commands with either the remote or the speaker command. When I tried the 160GB on the new system I bought, it didn't respond either. Should the 160GB work fine with those systems if they play the 120GB without a problem? I'm a bit confused on the issue.

    More info would be helpful
What do you see on the iPod screen when you connect to the PC?
Which version of iTunes are you using?
What is the iPod software version as shown in iTunes summary page, the last time you connect successfully.? Or just, on the iPod, press Settings->About
press the select button 3 times and you will get the software version.
    HAVE A NICE DAY!

  • New 160Gb ipod classic will not be see in in Itunes V11.3.1(2)

I bought a new 160Gb Ipod classic. I bought it because my previous 2, older ipod classics, stopped syncing. One day they worked the next they didnt. I swear this happened after an Itunes update too. Anyway, I took one to Tekserve (local Apple service provider) and they told me one of the pins in the ipod i brought to them was damaged so the connection couldnt be made. I didnt really buy the answer, but since the ipod was older i figured, ok, I'll get a new one. Well I just got a new one. opened up the box, took out a new USB cord, plugged it into my computer and boom, NOTHING. The computer recognizes it in the Finder (MAC OS 10.6.8). Then again the MAC recognized my other 'broken' ipods too, Itunes just doesnt.
So I had hunch before this this problem has to be a software bug. Now its confirmed. There is no way a brand new ipod should not be seen in Itunes. Trust me i tried all the normal 'Ipod doesnt sync support stuff' and it doesnt  solve the problem. This is an advanced problem and one that i need  real answer on. Does an ipod classic work with Itunes  V11.3.1(2) running on a MAC 10.6.8 OS? Ipod classics still cost $250 which is ridiculous since the technology is 5 years old, so if Apple stopped supporting them on the new Itunes without making that know I think there should be some serious press about this!
    Please help.

Well I finally figured out the problem, not thanks to anyone from Apple for that matter. You would asume this problem has happened before and is still happening. The problem was I couldn't copy certain songs anymore from iTunes to my iPod Classic. When trying to copy certain songs I got an error.
If you have this problem it means your song file is corrupted. You can simply check this by trying to copy it from your hard drive to an external hard drive. Here you will also get an error message.
This means you need to replace all the corrupted files by a back up on your hard drive or download it again. I did this and now everything works fine.
Hope this will solve a lot of problems.

  • IPod Classic will not sync since installed iTunes 11

iPod Classic will not sync properly since installed new iTunes. Always stops at or around song 2 and just hangs there, even if left all night. Tried restoring the iPod, made no difference. Tried syncing just some songs, sometimes it will do 20 or so but not more than that - and I have 10,000 songs.
Saw something about problem with Winsock and reset that but no effect.
Recently been re-recording CDs in Apple Lossless with 'Convert to AAC' selected for iPod. Maybe the conversion process is causing the block? But it did not before.
I also tried moving the itunes material from the Synology NAS to the PC as I thought the processing power might be the problem. It synced once after that, now it is blocked again. Tonight I tried selecting only the original AAC files and it seems to have worked for them, my problem therefore seems to be the Apple Lossless - unless the syncing of AAC files is another one-off.
Not for the first time I wish I had not updated iTunes because it so often leads to problems of some kind. Why do they not care?
    Any

Update: following successful sync of AAC files, I changed the setting to 'manual' for music & videos, used the View menu to restore the old sidebar, and manually added the Lossless files to the IPod. That actually seems to be working (very slowly). But it would be better if Sync worked as it should.

  • Are device sync tests meant to work on 160GB iPod Classic

I have a 160GB iPod Classic that fails the synch test. Tried on two different computers (Windows 7, Windows XP) with same result. Is this a problem with the iPod Classic?

Is there any other symptoms like the fatal red X on the iPod display? Or no music after an iTunes Library sync?
If there are then do a disk diagnostic on your iPod, most likely hardsik is dying.

  • How can I make my brand new 160GB iPod Classic work?

I bought a 160GB Ipod Classic in January and have just tried to use it for the first time and it has been a disaster! I have spent hours trying to use it and failed. I have been using iTunes for some time now and have recently successfully set up Squeezebox to use the iTunes music I have uploaded from my CDs.
All started well - my system recognised the new hardware and iTunes started. I registered and said I wanted to synch my music and my photos and away it went. After 2-3GB of uploads I got an error saying
"The Owner's iPod cannot be synced. The required folder cannot be found." On pressing 'OK' it then said I'd got an unknown error. Pressing 'OK' again took me back to the first error message. I then tried everything I coould including relaoding iTunes and eventually got it started again. This time it got up to about 8GB (of about 10.5GB) before abending in the same way. Since then I have failed to take another step forward in many hours.
When I connect the iPod to my PC sometimes it appears briefly in 'My Compter' then disappears. Then the errors loop thus:-
START:The iPod itself says "Connected" the a few seconds later it says "Ejecting"
The device manager has a USB Mass Storage Device with an exclamation mark on a yellow background which then says
"Windows cannot use this hardware device because it has been prepared for'safe removal' but it has not been removed from the computer (code 47). To fix this problem, unplug the device from your computer and then plug it in again"
Doing this the causes the process to sytart again from START above.
On one occasion only, after a few hours trying, I got a message "Your iPod need to be reformatted to work with Windows" and it opened up iTunes and then sat and did nothing.
Running the diagnostics in iTunes says "No iPod found". The diagnostic information is set out below:

Have solved my own problem. My PC sits on the floor so I have a four-port USB hub on my desktop with one port in use. I use one of the other three ports for USB-related task. As I was shutting down for the night I had a - what turned out to be inspired - thought about whether there was an adequate power supply from the hub. I then tried the iPod USB connection directly into the front of my machine and everything worked. It seems that an inadequate power supply was the cause of this strange set of conditions.
