My 16gb 5th gen iPod Touch says it is connected to the internet, but it is not. What do I do?

Please help me.  I have iOs 7. I tried going on safari but I says I'm not connected to the internet. I went to settings>wi-fi and then my router is displayed under the switch to turn on and off the wi-fi. Here is a picture : (It's in French)
What do I do to be able to use the internet?
Thanks

  • I lost my ipod touch and it is connected to the internet but the location services are turned off anyway i could turn them on??

Hi, I was wondering if anybody here knows how to turn on location services without the ipod in your hand it is connected through find my iphone and it says its online but location services are turned off if anybody here knows or think they know it would be greatly appreciated

    No.
    - If you previously turned on the FIndMyiPod feature and location service is on, and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud, sign in, and go to FindMyiPhone. It the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - Report to police and change the passwords fro all accounts used on the iPod.
    - Apple will not help

  • TS3798 I have a new Ipad, it says I am connected to the internet but will not load . When attempting to go to a web sight, the green bar goes 1/2 inch then nothing

I have a new ipad, it says I am connected to the internet but will not work. When I attempt to go to a web sight the green bar moves 1/2 inch and nothing.
I have a used linksys router that I got from work. I tried connecting with a older ipad and every thing works correctly. any ideas?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

    Hello @laidbacklady,
I have read your post on how you are not able to access the Internet, and that the web browser keeps loading up. Are you using Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or FireFox? Does this issue occur when you use a different browser? Are you able to connect to the Internet using a different computer? Are you connecting your computer to a wireless or wired network? I would be happy to help you, but first I would encourage you to post your product number for your computer. Below is a is an HP Support document that will demonstrate how to find your computer's product number.

  • IPod Touch 4G can't connect to the internet

I've seen similar posts, but there doesn't seem to be an answer.
I can connect my iPod Touch to my wireless router but cannot connect to the internet. Safari gives the following error:
"Cannot open page. Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet".
Other devices (wireless and not) can connect to the internet.
In the Wi-Fi settings, I have an IP address and subnet mask, but nothing for Router or DNS. I have reset the Wi-Fi settings a couple of times.
The router is a SpeedStream 6540.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem on older dsl modems if your IP address is 169 you must connect to your router even if it is showing bars that your wii-fi is available & working. It took some time for me to figure this out but you must go to settings click on wi-fi (even if its showing your wii-fi signal name & that it is on it will only do this if you put in a password which is usually on the back/bottom of your modem in form of a sticker that reads device/access code or something similar  or it may do this automatically remember just because you are connected doesn't mean you have access as of yet) Ok so here's the trick to it all you must select other then type in your network name same as your wii-fii name for example mine is a # yours maybe speedstreamer560 etc  and then enter security code which is usually found on the back or bottom of your modem it will usually be a very very long # if it is wep you may also have wpa wpa2 etc your modem's sticker will let you know what you have so make sure under the security tab you press the > to select the security that applies to you. then yousave it or press done I forget it says and you will be connected but you must make positively sure you typed in all the right info especially those of you with wep theres like a combo of letters & #'s totaling 26 so just one mistake & no connect. Hope this has helped

I searched up EVERYTHING of how to fix your wifi connections & stuff, & nothing worked. my ipod keeps telling me to put the internet password in when I aleady did (and its the right password). When I am only close to the router, it'll give me wifi, but when I am upstairs or some other place, it will not give me wifi. I don't know if it's the wifi or my iPod because my iPods connects to other networks but not my home wifi. its also updated to iOS 8.1.

  • Says I'm connected to the internet, but browsers won't work

Hi everybody. Here's what happened: I was loading a program on my eMac, which was connected to the internet fine, and my mom shut the computer off. It seemed like the computer crashed--I couldn't access any of my files. So I realoaded the operating system. Most things worked OK, but I couldn't connect to the internet, and when I tried changing certain things, it asked for an administrator name and password, and wouldn't accept any of the accounts as an administrator. So I found a code the allowed me to create a new administrator, and used it; I can now finally edit my internet settings. But I can't connect. I finally got it to say I was connected in Network Status by clicking the checkmark next to AppleTalk; there's the little green light and it gives my IP address and everything. But none of my browsers will load, and Itunes can't connect either. Any suggestions?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Powering the machine down from the on/off switch typically is not recommended, because during a software shut down, some documents that are open are properly closed. What can happen is directory damage. Perhaps a key document for your Domain Nameserver got damaged. Try switching to OpenDNS DNS numbers from http://www.opendns.org/ on both your router and Network System Preferences. Restart the computer. Then it might fix the issue. Any proxy settings might need to be turned off as well.

  • Hi, my Macbook says its connected to the internet, but it's not working.  It's about 2 years old and has been fine up until now.  Its the same internet provider and I have a work PC laptop that is connecting fine.  Any help greatly appreciated.  Liz

    Hi,
My MacBook Pro won't connect to the internet, although it says it is connected.  The laptop is about 2 years old and up until now has worked fine.  My work PC laptop is connecting to the internet fine so I know it can't be the connection.   I've checked for Adware/Malware (just in case) via safemac and that all seems fine.
    I'm running OSX 10.8.5.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Liz

Believe it or not, that article helped me find a temporary solution. After reading it I realized that the problem did have to do with my DNS settings. I had taken the DNS settings that my ISP gives me when I dial up and plugged them into the configuration for my AirPort card. This apparently caused a problem because, although my wireless network is always on, it's not always connected to the internet. So those DNS settings were invalid most of the time.
I found that as long as I leave the area for DNS servers blank, the computer logs in normally. This further confirms my suspicion that something was trying to access the internet at login. I guess as long as I don't specify any DNS servers, the computer realizes it doesn't have an internet connection through my AirPort card.
So I just created two network locations: one for when my network is connected to the internet and one for when it isn't. In the first, I kept my original DNS settings because they work as long as I have an internet connection. In the second I did not specify any DNS servers. This seems to work fine, but I'd still like to know what is trying to access the internet at login. I've disabled the automatic update feature in all my programs that have it, but that doesn't seem to help the slowdown at login. Does anyone know how I could figure out what program is trying to access the internet?

  • My brand new ipod touch 5 says it is connect to the internet but I can't access anything

I just opened an Ipod touch 5 and it says it is connect to my wireless internet at full strength, but when I try to use an internet based application it doesn't work. I can't connect to anything that needs internet.

The problem could be caused by a firewall in the router.  For reasons that I do not understand, that will affect IOS (iPod/iPad) communication but will not affect computers or other devices.
You will need administrative access to the router.  If a firewall is present, turn it off and test the iPod again.  If it works, turn the firewall back on but weaken it a notch and test the iPod again.  Repeat as required.
