MY 17" IS THE GREATEST THING ON THE PLANET!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trolls...take note...the quality of the Mac experience is too powerful. Try as you might the tide is shifting. People will not be swayed by your efforts to smear Apple on the support site.
My 17" arrived yesterday. I've run it through the ringer since and it responds perfectly...in my home wireless environment or my school wireless. No hum...no moo...no heat...sounds great and it's blazing fast (I bought the 1GB and installed another 1GB that I purchased for a lot less $).
I surfed this site for two weeks before pulling the trigger. I emailed David Pogue for a recommendation and, amazingly, he answered back twice and gave me his view of the 17". He said it's "wonderful" and it is...
MacPro users of the world...unite against the trolls!

I bet you say that to all the girls

  • Does The Best Buy Exclusive of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes come with a 2D version?

Does The Best Buy Exclusive of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes come with a 2D version? Because I'm really thinking about ordering it.

    Hi there TheTimelordspy,
I've heard good things about Dawn of the Planet of the Apes but sadly haven't had a chance to see it yet! After a quick review, it would appear that the version you speak of (SKU 7713034) should include a regular 2D Blu-ray disc version as well. If you should have any questions, please let me know!

  • Aperture 2 Library backups, Time Machine, differental and saving the planet

I understand Time Machine now monitors updates to Aperture 2's library. It must sniff within the Library package to sense differential changes from its last backup to tag files for the next TM update. If this is true (and i hope it is), does this mean we can safely use other packages, like chronosync to run regular backups of our Libraries without having to copy the whole Library ? esentially cloning the library ?
Chronosync has been package aware and can sniff within them for changes, but i was always nervous messing with the Library structure outside of Aperture. Currently i run chronosync in the wee hours to backup my libraries which take hours for 2x110+GB Libraries. Keen to save some electricity and say Aperture 2 also saves the planet ;->

I've not experimented yet - this'll be a job for if I get a spare moment at the weekend - but I suspect it will be implementing some form of compatible file locking only, so that Time Machine won't try and back it up whilst it is being written to by Aperture, or, alternatively, Aperture will start writing to a temporary update log whilst Time Machine has it locked for copying.
I don't think they'll suddenly have grafted differential backups into 10.5.2's Time Machine.

  • Why has Rise of the Planet of the Apes been pulled from iTunes Store?

I wanted to rent Rise of the Planet of the Apes but it no longer is available to rent or buy in iTunes Store. It was just there two days ago. Any ideas why it has been pulled?

Because its copyright holder decided to have it pulled for some reason.

  • Is scanning with Photoshop Elements 13 and windows 8.1 the most ignorant thing on the planet?

Using WIA and its moronic default settings is like going back to being a caveman.

Please try out the instructions mentioned on page:

  • The worst macook on the planet.

Seriously. I know I must be the one to own it. But on to my issue,
When I start up I get the perpetual gray loading screen. It loads for 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 3 hours, and NEVER goes past it. Before this my computer was experiencing a slowdown. Applications i could run fine before (photoshop, dreamweaver, 12 FF tabs) now I could run for more than 5 minutes or the entire system would lock up. I snooped around and my RAM, HDD, everything was in tact and working fine... So I couldn't find a source of my slowdown. I went about my life, living with it and dealing. Then one day not too different from others photoshop sent my computer into a spazztic fit like usual and I have to hold the power button and hard reboot. Thus, now i'm at the gray apple loading screen... Not loading.
I actually tried to do an archive install after trying resetting the PRAM and all the other usual things. And wouldn't you guess it, it froze up then too.
    headdesks please help?

If its not working, not a lot
Do you have Applecare? How old is the MB?
Try a re-install and see what happens, unlikely to be worth selling if its broke. Would be worth contacting Apple to see about a service also.
If you have an Apple Store locally its definitely worth making an appointment.
And its probably not the worst Macbook in the world

  • TS1363 i phone 4s in recovery mode not working cut off from the planet

does anyone out there know how to resart when the i phone constantly asks to be plugged into i player and i player asks for you to get out of recovery mode?

    Hello agardner37701,
I found some steps you can take when your iPhone is not recognized by iTunes when in Recovery Mode.  I recommend reviewing the steps in the section titled "If the device is not recognized while in Recovery Mode" under step 5 in the following article:

  • Best IDE on the planet??

    Hi All,
We have been developing JSP's & Servlets using Borland's JBuilder5 Pro, which is crashing from time to time. So we are looking for alternatives.
I had a look on sun's FORTE for Java, but unsure about its performance.
Are there any other bullet-proof IDE's optimised for JSP/Servlets in the market.
We are using jakarta's Tomcat 4.0.1 Servlet container.
Thanks in advance for any recommendation.
    Cheers
    Trajano Roberto

We're using IntelliJ's IDEA 2.5 and love it!
It has all the features you'd expect. Download the trial edition and give it a try. Reasonable price as well.

  • Is Logic 911 the worst audio recorder on the planet?

    Disk too slow.
I'm recording one mono audio track to a dedicated audio drive inside my Mac Pro.
Or rather I would be if Logic wasn't interrupting my recording with a "disk too slow 10004" message.
When it's not doing that it's locking up with the flashing screen error no matter what key I press.
And just for good measure it slings the dreaded burst of noise at me from time to time.
It's like paying for a slapper to beat me up.

    Bee Jay wrote:
Can you record to an external drive, or a different one to the one you are currently using? Same results?
I've just wiped the audio drive and am reinstalling, it may be a fragmenting issue, even though that's a reach.
I've also swapped the FW400 cable to my FF for an 800, I had read this had solved another's 'disk too slow' issue.
I'll be Bach, as Handel once said.
I've had the odd instance of this - menus not initialising and key commands not registering, and other funkiness. Does this always happen (ie, quit Logic, reload it, then load your song - does it always load in this state? Are you sure there isn't a dialog box being displayed, perhaps off screen somewhere?
It's not a constant. For instance yesterday I was working most of the afternoon and it occurred three times. It's happened on other songs too so it's doubtful the song is corrupted. No dialogue boxes, I've been caught out by that a few times so am on the lookout for it now. I can start and stop playback from the numerical keypad (playhead doesn't move, though) but every other key including the spacebar causes the flash of doom. I've yet to see what happens if I leave it and go off for a coffee or something.
It's the cumulative effect - flashing screen of doom, sporadic blasts of noises, disk too slow. I have a simple acoustic guitar part to lay down and so far it's been two days of in the zone, out of the zone, in the zone, etc. I'm sick of the song now, and mightily sick of Logic issues to the point of downloading the Presonus One demo this morning. It's looking pretty tasty...

  • Not Australian Fair - why should I pay more because of where I am on the planet?

Why do I have to pay $1.69 in Australia for the same tune that costs 99c in the US? I'm not buying anything else from iTunes until its a level playing field

Why would you think that pricing on itunes music would be the same all over the world?
Almost nothing is priced this way.
You may by from whomever you choose..

  • Apple has done it again! They are the best innovators in mobile computing technology on the planet.

I am so proud to be a part of this new generation of mobile technology.

I am so proud to be using the ipad and the iPhone in education. Now I can finally say that I am proud of its new operating system. It is about time Apple. You were the game changer with the first iphone and now you are changing the world of mobile computing again. Thanks for listening to our suggestions, complaints, hopes, and dreams.

  • Sometimes it's just the little things...

I just updated all the video apps and I am very pleased.
    1) I am THRILLED    that we have the OPTION of having sequence markers ripple. I begged for that as a feature request for I don't know how long. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This single feature is worth the update for me alone.
    2) When CS6 was relased I did not really like the "Fat" trim/ripple trim indicators. I am very happy they went on a diet and are nice and "tight" looking now lol.
Along with the slew of new features in this update (and last update), PP CC is rockin' !
As minor as they are those are my top 2 fav features.
The PP Team is doing an excellent job. I run Win 7 Pro on a very modest machine and PPRO and the oher video apps run like butter for me.
PP, AE, PS, AU, PL, AI, AME...the best software on the planet IMO for $50 a month? I feel like I'm stealing.
Now Encore was still a part of the "All Star" team I'd have to start blowing kisses...hahaha!
Seriously, keep up the GREAT work PPRO team!
    Shane

    1. That is nice, but I found out today, it doesn't quite go far enough.  I usually add sequence markers to the editing sequence, which serve to mark where I want to put the Chapter Markers in the final output sequence.  It's great that when revising that edit sequence, the markers move, but I'm still faced with manually moving the Chapter markers one at a time.
    So close...
    2. Yeah, that is a nice design change.  Makes selection a bit easier.

  • In the new Firefox 4, what happned to the save tabs and quit feature, is there a way i can still use this function?

''Duplicate post, continue here - [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/815571]''
I just downloaded Firefox 4 and i had a problem about my Norton spy-ware toolbar not being compatible, but anyway the most important thing that makes me pick Firefox over any other web browser is that i am able to save tabs and then exit. I think this was the greatest things because i could leave turn my laptop off and save power and when i got back i cold resume what i as doing. My question is just will you ever have this save tabs and exit function again or at least a way people would turn the function on by will.
