My 1820 went mute! Please help! :)

Hi there! I already sent mail to the support, but they haven't answered yet and since I produce semi-professionally I kinda need this fixed asap, (eventhou thou the card is only in use at my homecomp.)
Anyhow, let's get down to it. Few days ago, I installed an internal PATA HDD, which wasn't a big deal, just few bolts... I don't really think this even had anything to do with it, but I just realized the problem afterwards: no sound output what so ever. The dps patchmix clearly shows the incoming signal and everythings seems to be fine, but I just can't hear anything. The leds are ok in the dock, and when I deliberately clipped my mic, the clip-led lit just fine. I even restarted my comp without the new hdd and cd-rom incase I ran out of power. This didn't help at all. I got monitors hooked to the dock, and a headphones but they are both mute. I've only received one error message so far, when I turned on logic 5.1.1 I got an error saying "can't synchronize midi with the external device", or something similar. I'm a bit scared that the problem is in the hardware but I can't figure out a way to test it for sure...
any help would be really, really appreciated...

I re-installed the entire windows and now it works! Still no idea what was wrong there...

I've done an ample amount of Internet research to find an answer to this problem however nothing yet found is quite like this. I will start from the beginning.
I am traveling through Europe, and I normally live in California. When I arrived in Ireland my MBP early 2011 15 inch, began crashing constantly when I had several tabs open on Chrome and maybe one or two low CPU/Memory using applications, nothing the 8gb RAM &750gb hard drive can't normally handle. Thus I began trouble shooting. I ran disk utility once started up and repaired both disk and permissions. Still crashing. It didn't seem like it had anything to do with a kernel panic shut down, I never would receive the usual message indicating so. After that I did an SMC reset. It was still crashing. I then upgraded the OSX from 10.8 to 10.8.4 believing it could help. It did momentarily, but then crash again. (When it crashes screen goes black suddenly and upon pressing power button does a regular boot on my single partition). I decided attempting to repair using the Internet recovery option but it appeared my MBP had not yet have it installed, so I downloaded from Apple and began installing. Here I made a mistake, I unplugged the power source as it was restarting. When the gray screen and apple appeared, the loading bar shows up as it says it will when installing the update, but when the bar fully loads it crashes every time. I've tried starting in safe mode, which then loads but never goes further (I let it stand for two hours such as that and nothing). Then I decided to allow the MBP to fully charge overnight to give it time and charge. This morning the problem has stayed the same, even with power source plugged in. Please help I need this to work.

Your constant crashing problem is probably some type of hardware fault which no update can fix. Doing the 10.8.4 update and then the firmware update just caused further problems. you need to take thr system to a apple store to be diagnosed and fixed if cost effective.

Red Media suddenly went offline - Please Help!

I am aware that this is a reccurent problem. I remember seeing a similar post last week but for some reasons I can't find it anymore.
Here is my situation.
After months of endless editing of a feature film, I am about to export the final cut and send the project out for DI and VFX.
Today I opened PPCS6 and part of my timeline is offline.
Of course I tried to relink the media, but all I get is an error message saying "Unsupported File / File damaged".
This was an ongoing problem at the times of CS5-5.5,when I was spending weeks trying to understand the origin of this problem. Now it appears that CS6 is having the same kind of issues with RED media (or simply with the red importer).
Here is what happens in details:
When I relink the original r3d files I don't always get the "unsupported file" error. Long clips with more than one segment can be relinked with a little trick.
To give an example:
In the case of long clips, when Premiere asks "Where is A002_C001_100742_001?" if I select the first segment of the file (001) I get the "unsupported file" error.
Although if I select the second or third segment, like A002_C001_100742_002 or A002_C001_100742_003 the clip gets re-linked without problems. This makes me feel there is something wrong in the way Premiere imports RED media.
Although the real probelm is when I have short clips, where the camera only generated on r3d file/segment. In that case I get the error of unsupported format, and the clip stays offline. I can't think of a workaround for short clips.
I have the latest CS6.02 version.
This is driving me crazy, and right now 1/4 of my timeline is offline.
Please, if anyone experienced this problem and has a possible solution let me know. I need to export this project and I am currently stuck with no possible solution.

I tried, but Clearing the cashe/cashe database made it even worst, more clips went offline.
Today I uninstalled the software and reinstalled it, now everything is back to normal.
Problem is that it happens very often, not only to me.
It would be great to understand if there is a better solution. Uninstalling the software in the middle of a job made me feel a bit uneasy.

IBook went crazy - please help!

Hey,
I was just downstairs surfing the 'net when all of a sudden my iBook went flooey. The screen went black, and then red, green, white, blue (I'm not sure of the exact order of colors). I tried holding down the power button to force it to restart, but that didn't work. I had to unplug it and take the battery out to get it to stop. When I tried restarting, I got the same funky screens. Oh, and now the fan is going like crazy.
What happened??
I have AppleCare, but I'm still hoping this something I can fix myself with appropriate software. I hate parting with my iBook while it's getting fixed!

ETA: I just realized that the iBook wasn't shut down despite me taking the battery out and putting it back in. So I took it out and the fan has stopped.

You have Sync Music selected under the Music tab or selection for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes on your PC?

My itunes library went nuts. please help

I noticed today, that some of my compilations started showing up in the wrong parts of my cover flow. Before they would all sit nicely towards the end, then I saw that two of them where now mixed in with the V's, listed under various artist. Weird. I manually fix those two artist, and they seemed to go back to where they belonged, by editing the ID3 tags myself, even though those albums I purchased on itunes.
Then I noticed another soundtrack (compilation) was listed in another part of the coverflow, this time in the O's, and now I'm thinking my library somehow got messed up.
I rebooted a couple of times, and now when I view my itunes library, it list the artist as if Group by Compilations isn't checked. So now my soundtracks show up several times, mixed in with regular artist. I keep checking, and unchecking, and rechecking group compilations in the preferences, but it just doesn't work. The songs are still marked as part of a compilation.
This is really irritating me! Anyone have any ideas?

I turned off the Album by Artist tab.... and there it is.

My account went haywire, please help!

Today I booted up OS X (on my MacBook) and it looks like it did when I first bought it. The dock has all the icons it did when I first got it. All my settings and changes are gone, iTunes is empty, documents are empty, my links in safari are gone, it's like a new computer.
The only explanation I can think of is that yesterday I was fooling around and in the finder I renamed the little house icon from "thansenapple" (what it always has been) to "Trent" (my own name). I renamed it by 'rightclicking' the text and chosing rename form the little menu.
Nothing happened at that moment, but when I was using Word later that night, it wouldn't look into my regular document file, it would instead look in a document file that was all blank, and I had to do some searching to find the file I wanted.
Well today I booted up and I got a new computer or something. After some more searching, I found that all my files are still there, they are under USERS. There are 3 files under the Users file: shared, thansenapple, and Trent. Also, right now my little house icon in the finder does not read "Trent" it reads "thansenapple".
I'm scared and confused. Did I just screw myself or is there an easy fix?

You can enable keyboard sounds via Settings > General > Sounds . If they are enabled but you can't hear them then have you checked that you haven't got notifications muted (which will also affect most apps) ?
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. Most of your sources are illegal; friends, LimeWire, etc... Anyhow, try first updating your iPod's firmware; iPod Updater - Version 1.1.1. If that doesn't work, restore your iPod with that same updater. Restoring your iPod will erase all the files on your iPod. You'll have to put all the files on your iPod back on your computer. Check out the following programs...

Both will rip files from your iPod, and place them in a specified folder on your computer.

This means that the phone you have was software unlocked to use on any carrier, or hacked. When you installed the update it restored the lock that originaly came with your phone. Not much you can do now. Apple will not support hacked phones. You will need to find out the carrier your phone is locked to and see if they offer official unlocking, or start googling to see if you can find a way to unlock 4.2.
