Try a hard reset and go from there.

Yes, I've that and it didn't work. Today, I reinstalled printer software on one printer and the "paused" message changed to "offline". It's a three-in-one printer. I turned off and on again and it still says "offline"

The 2G can only go as high as iOS 4.2.1. To find apps for the 2G
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
Vintapps 3.1.3 - paid app.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
To update to 4.2.1
The Settings>General>Software Update comes with iOS 5 and later.
Connect the iPod to your computer and update via iTunes as far as your iPod model allows

Did the programs say they work for an iPod touch or another iOS device?
Many only work with other iPod that do not use the iOS .

I have HP Pavilion TouchSmart with Windows 8.1 and current version of iTunes. I downloaded 2 apps to my laptop and am attempting to sync my iPod Touch but keep getting an error stating my computer is not authorized but it is. How do I fix this?

Each time I try to sync I get the same error message. Each time I authorize my computer. And each time I get a reply that my computer is already authorized. I cannot get this to sync.Any ideas?

1st Generation Ipod touch keeps crashing/going into stand by mode 3.1.3

I have a 1st generation ipod touch that I recently restored to the newest firmware 3.1.3. My problem is that after this restore and subsequent restore attempts is that the device keeps clicking off to a black screen when I use wifi or transition from different desktop screens. The device does not completely crash as once the screen goes black I can hit the home button an slide to unlock. I have found that if I disable wifi this problem does not occur. I have tried to both reset and restore with no success. Any suggestions or ideas?

If a restore did not help, I'm afraid you have a hardware issue there.

The Genius playlist and the 1st Generation ipod touch

I am just wondering, is the genius playlist ability not available to the 1st Generation iPod touch or does it only work on certain songs?
Because it would be really annoying if they limited to the 2nd Generation iPod touch only.

Another post here said to just go ahead and resync your iPod and it should start working. And it did for me. If that does not work make sure that genius is enabled on your iTunes, otherwise it will not add the functionality to your iPod.

Does the 1st generation iPod touch not "recognise" [recognize if you are American] these functions? I am talking about the microphone and the button on the new earphones.

Because the Touch is primarily a music player, that is what I purchased and I'm quite satisfied with it as it is.

This maybe because the hardware is simply incompatible, they cannot cover every eventuality, had they done so the Touch would have been more expensive and I would not have bought one.
Technology moves on, fact. I you don't feel Apple are playing fair then just avoid their products, that'll learn 'em.

Can I run the Netflix app on a 1st generation Ipod Touch running 3.1.3?

I have a 1st generation ipod touch running ios 3.1.3. I want to run netflix on it but when I try to install from itunes I get the message "The app "Netflix" was not installed on the IPOD because it requires a newer version of IPOD software." I have read from goggling this issue that netflix streaming on the 1st gen ipod is possible. What am I doing wrong? Or is this not possible at all?

This is untrue, as was stated earlier:
I was running netflix on an itouch first generation ios 3.1.3 untill the glich with the app store. The newest update will not run on it now and I lost the original version when I reset the Itouch thinking the problem was on my end.
If you had said it's "incompatible" instead of "cannot handle it" or specified the version of the Netflix, perhaps the new Netflix app is so incredible, or rather it "does so much" MORE, you might be within the realm of having some useful input, but the following:

Why isn't the new iOS4 update compatible with the 1st generation iPod touch

It makes me extremely angry that i have wanted what the new update contains ever since i got my ipod and now I can't have it because whoever made the update didn't make it compatible with the 1st generation iPod touch. Ig someone could give me a good reason as to why this happened that would be much appreciated.

Does it happen with the apps that came with the iPod?
Does it happen with all apps you have downloaded/installed?
Have you ried deleting the apps and redownload/install the apps? You will not be charged again if you are signed into the same iTunes account that originally purchased the apps.
Next would be to restore from backup
Last would be to restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

By updating the iOS on the iPOd. The 1G can go as high as 3.1.3. That works with a lot of apps. But some apps require a higher iOS and/or newer iPod.
