My 1year old dunked ipod touch in fish bowl

1yo dunked ipod touch in fish bowl last night.
The ipod was still working and after a restore I thought everything was back to normal.
However I have found the following problems now and was wondering if anyone had any ideas.
1) Wifi does not work
2) iPod is stuck in headphones mode (speaker does not work, headphones do)
3) the letter "u" does not work.
That is what I have found so far. I have read about putting the ipod in an oven, bag of rice but have not tried any of these.
My thought is that it is knackered. Any other opinions?

" I have read about putting the ipod in an oven, bag of rice but have not tried any of these."
You would do this before trying to power on the iphone.
Once it is powered on while wet, the damage is likely done.

  • HT4623 My old school iPod touch won't update.  Does apple mess it's customers over by not allowing updates for older models of the touch?  My last update is Ios5.  My touch says its up to date.  So has my old school touch reached its pinnacle?

Correct. The 3G iPod does not have the hardware to support an iOS version higher than 5.1.1
To more easily find compatible apps:
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
Starting when iOS 7 was releases, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

  • Can i exchange my old apple ipod touch for a new one, can i exchange my old apple ipod touch for a new one

Not really. Apple will only give you a 10% discount for recycling for turning in an old iPod and purchasing a new one.

  • How do I track an old (stolen) ipod touch if I already synced a new ipod touch with the old information without knowing it would not allow me to track my old ipod but my new one instead?

I lost my iPod touch (4th generation) over a week ago and did not think I installed the icloud on it. When I was setting up my new iPod touch (4th generation),
I saw that it automatically shows an option for icloud. That made me realize that I probably did install icloud in my old ipod. The problem is that I synced my old ipod with my new ipod on the computer. I thought if I didn't I would loose all of my old infomation. So now evertyime I use the app to find my iPod, it finds my new one. It shows only one device located under it. Is there a way I could find the old iPod? Or could I restore my new iPod and find the old one that way? I'm afraid if I restore it I would loose all my information from my old ipod.

That makes no difference in finding/tracking your lost/stolen device.
The old device will only show up in icloud.com if you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

  • My 12 yr old daughters ipod touch was stolen by 1 of 2 people, how do i find the location of it to see wher it is?

she worked VERY hard for it so she could buy it for her bday n 4/12, and on 4/12/12 my dad n mom helped her buy it for her bday whix=ch was the next day...$217.XX for it, my daughter had $114.58 n they did the rest. she is devastated becuz our 4yr old is disabled n we have vids n pux to use in case the worst happens... we need it back. help....

Find my iPod Touch (iOS 4.2.1 and greater) - http://images.apple.com/ipodtouch/built-in-apps/find-my-ipodtouch.html - has to be enabled before device is lost.  It also requires the device be on and connected to registered WiFi network, and not having been restored by the finder (if it was really stolen then the thief has probably restored it).  If you have activated the "Find My" feature, go to https://www.icloud.com or use the Find My iPhone app - http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/find-my-iphone/id376101648?mt=8
Setting up iCloud (requires iOS5) - http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/ios.html - includes activating the 'Find My' feature.
Frankly in the case of a stolen iPod this almost never works. Report it to the police.  Change passwords on accounts. Go shopping for a new iPod.

  • A way to use my old 1G Ipod touch with Icloud?

Can I use an 1G Ipod touch with ICloud if I set up a PC with Itunes 10.6 and then sync the Ipod on that PC? (Currently I do sync the Ipod to a Itunes 10.6 library on the PC but have not set it up it ICloud yet)

We are all fellow users on here and not Apple employees so have freedom in what we say and opinions expressed.
I fully agree that it can be frustrating to have to make replacement decisions when a piece of equipment is working fine.  I have an iMac G5 that has been working great since 2005...but the operating system is way out of date, and now the computer is starting to act up so have decided to go ahead and replace it.  Also have a MacBook Pro that is great, iPad, iPod, iPhone, PC laptop and Sun Sparc workstation, so your compatibility questions and concerns are very familiar.
If your components are playing nice at this point, keep doing what you are doing, in the engineering world we have an expression, If it ain't broke don't fix it.
As to the iPad, that device can be wonderful or just a toy according to how you decide to use it.  It is almost a computer in itself...I say almost because you cannot just download applications other than those in the app store, and some things like word processing are not quite as straight forward as with a computer.  But with AirPrint, if you have a compatible printer, you can seemlessly print directly from the iPad.
I carry mine almost all the time, and often on travel do not bother with the MBP.  The wealth of apps makes it a very powerful tool.  The downside, in addition to not having certain applications I want to use, is the virtual keyboard.  It works well, but for my hand size is slow to type on.
Best advice on that score is go to an Apple store or reseller and spend some quality time up close and personal with an iPad and get to know it before purchase.  And keep in mind it is very powerful but is not intended to actually replace a laptop in every function.

  • Can you get a new 5G Ipod Touch by taking your old 4G ipod touch and paying a fee ?

I am form argentina, there is no apple retail shops here, only authorised distribuitors, so i cant have it replaced here. i have somebody traveling to the states next month so ill ask him to take the ipod touch 4G witch works perfectly but has a shattered screen. I understand Apple has a replacement policy. Id like to know if this is possible and how much money id have ton give my friend.

Apple only offers a 10% recycling discount. New iPods start at $229, so you'd have to give your contact around $207 + tax, if applicable.

  • HT1904 I  have recently bought my 6 year old an iPod touch I have set an email and password for it but wen we try to download free apps in the app store we have to go through verification and then it says that there is a minimum age restriction and disall

When trying to download free apps it says there is a  minimum age resriction and disallows

The apps are getting the age of your 6-year old from the Apple ID. I am not sure if there is anything you can do about it.

  • Help ive dropped my ipod touch in a bowl of water and now the sound isnt working! what do i do?, help ive dropped my ipod touch in a bowl of water and now the sound isnt working! what do i do?

    Help please:'(

After the iPod was retrieved from the bowl of water did you leave it off for about a week or so to let it dry out.  Perhaps even placed it in a sealed container of rice or desiccant to help absort the moisture from the device?  If not, it's like that the internal speakers were fried when they came into contact with the water.
If a reset and restore of the device via iTunes (both from backup and to factory settings) fails to resolve the issue, it's more than likely hardware related. In that case, you'll need to take/send your iPod in for service either to Apple or a third party service.
To reset the device, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

WWhy can't I finish reading some of my books I bought in iBook? I synced from my old 16GB IPOD TOUCH, I only get about a third or half the way through and it freezes.

    Try:

    Hi,
I've had my iPod touch for a really long time and it recently starts to shut off or freezes all the time.  There is always batteries in it and I am getting annoyed by restarting it all the time.  Is there any way to fix this and will apple do anything about it because it is a old generation iPod touch.  Thanks!

Have you tried restoring to Factory Default (setup as new).
