I have an unknown error (1621) and my iPod is not being recognised in iTunes or the Finder, even in Disc mode.  Anyone know what's going on?

Try and force iPod into Recovery Mode:
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
    3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
    5. Release the Home button
    6. Open iTune
    7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
    8. Use iTune to restore iPod
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad

  • My ipod has frozen and isn't being recognised by itunes

Recently, my iPod has been having troubles. It's been freezing in the middle of songs and when I try to change track, and, up till today, it's recovered. It's now been frozen for three hours. I restored the factory settings a couple of days ago, and it workeds, but only for a few hours.
This morning, it froze in the middle of the song, and it's now not being recognised by iTunes. I've tried to do a hard reset, but it's not responding at all.
It's an iPod Classic 30GB, and I think it's a 5th Generation. I got it second hand, and so I don't think I can take it and get it fixed and whatnot without paying money. Is it worth getting a new iPod? There is an Apple store near me, so I can take it in and see what they say, but as I said, it's second hand and it's past the warrenty.

Charge the iPod for at least 2 hours
Do the iPod Hard Reset -> Press Menu and Center Button simultaneously for at least 10 secs till the Apple logo comes ON.
    Then release the buttons
Refer to this Apple Support article on the 5Rs.

If you plan to get a new iPod, get the iPod Touch and avoid at all cost the iPod Classic, the new generation of HD in the iPod Classic appear to be not very sturdy and reliable, in my Opinion, yours is still more sturdy, (6 years old), but the battery and hardisk would be  in the last lap. The full charge battery should last at least 20 hours of continuos music.
You can do the iPod Disk diagnostic to see the HD health, as posted by tt2.

Don't worry about the Mac user, the DD process refer only to iPod Classic.

  • My ipad (mini) and ipod are not being recognised by itunes?

When connecting both my ipad(mini) and ipod(7th gen) they are not being recognised by itunes.  I last connected just over a month ago and everything was fine.  When I last connected I also connected my old ipod(3rd gen) to add new playlists beforing giving to someone else.  When I first plugged in I got a message saying that the cable was not Apple authorised - both my cables are cables supplied with my ipod/ipad so came from Apple?  When I run diagnostics it says
"Most recent devices not currently connected,  - iPod Nano (3rd Gen) and iPad Mini running firmware 6.1.3"  This is the first time I have tried to connect since updated my iPad with IOS7?  Please help I wanted to put Christmas playlists on both devices.....!

  • IPod touch not being recognised by iTunes, recognised in "My Computer"

    Hello,
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate, I have iTunes 10.
I have tried restoring the iPod touch, I have tried switching it on and off. I have tried with each USB port, my security settings are fine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, I have restarted the computer. I have reset the ipod.
It has still not been recognised by iTunes.
What can I do to get the iPod touch to be recognised by iTunes?
vvv on "My Computer" at the bottom I can see this. Here I can access my DCIM folder, which contains some photos and videos.
    iPod information; Version: 5.1.1 (9B206) Model: MD057BT
    6GB 4th Generation
    Thanks,
    Aimee.

  • IPod shuffle not being recognised in iTunes in a new country

Hi there, I initially used my iPod shuffle (4th Generation) in Australia on my laptop and it was recognised in iTunes with no problem. Now I want to connect my iPod shuffle on a new computer in Greece. My iPod shuffle however is being recognised in 'my computer', but not in iTunes.
Help would be most appreciated ASAP, what should I do?
    Thank you!

The flashing light is good.  It means that the system (the OS) is seeing the iPod's "disk," and it is actually mounted.  When the light is flashing, it means DO NOT DISCONNECT (eject shuffle before physically disconnecting).
When do get this error code?  Is it when the iPod is syncing with iTunes?
If you have other USB devices connected, you may want to try it after shutting down (powering off) the computer and disconnecting all USB devices, including any hub.  You can leave standard keyboard and mouse connected, if normally used.  If your computer is a laptop, connect its power adapter, so that it's not running on battery power.  Do this to reset your shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1655
Start up the computer, run iTunes, and connect the shuffle to a direct USB port on the computer.  Any difference?

  • Possible fix if your iPhone 3G isn't being recognised by iTunes!

    Hi all,
I was having this problem, my iPhone was being recognised by Windows XP as a camera but would not show up in the left hand column in iTunes. After going through all the tutorials, checking services and drivers, I decided to *turn WiFi off* and try again. Bingo. It sync'd first time and I have tested this method and it works everytime. Seems being connected to a wireless home network interferes with iTunes or something like that.
Give it a try and let me know how you all go!

You're in luck because i just ran into this issue and fixed it.
For some silly reason your apple iphone device driver gets moved under device manager and itunes can't see your phone as a result.
    To fix the issue:
on your keyboard: windows key + pause/break key.  Then select Device Manager on the left of the window.
If you expand Universal Serial Bus controllers you will likely not see "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" listed.
You'll have to do some poking around, because it will be under one of the other headers... found mine under "Portable Devices", but yours could literally be under any of them.
Once you find "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver", right-click and select uninstall.  Follow prompts to uninstall.
Then right-click "Universal Serial Bus controllers" and select scan for hardware changes.  Your PC will then install it to the proper location and iTunes will be able to see your iphone and sync.
Dunno why it does this, but it does.
    Hope that helps,
    Cheers!

    Hi, can someone please help!
I purchased a new iPod touch (the one with the camera )the other day and yet so far iTunes nor my computer has recognized it.
    I have tried many things:
    Updating itunes
    Uninstalling and reinstalling itunes
Unblocking itunes related software in my firewall
    Trying different USB ports
Turning ipod off and on in different ways

My computer makes the noise when something is plugged in, yet my ipod is not appearing under devices on itunes. My old nano is being picked up fine yet my new ipod touch isnt!
I dont know whether i should return to the store i purchased it at or if it is a computer malfunction thats the probelm.
Please please help! I've reached a dead end!

    Try it on another computer.

  • My ipod isn't being recognized in itunes and not in my computer

when i plug my 2nd generation ipod up it won't go to itunes and it wont even register in the computer. But when i plug up the 30 gig ipod it goes directly to itunes and it shows up in the address bar. I ran the diagnostic and it showed that the 2nd generation was the secondary and not the primary ipod on the computer. I wonder if that has anything to do with that at all? I have no idea I've been checking for months i need some help.

"I ran the diagnostic and it showed that the 2nd generation was the secondary and not the primary ipod on the computer."
    What diagnostics?
If you are connecting both iPods at the same time this will cause problems. Disconnect the 30GB while syncing the Nano.

  • My sister's iPod isn't being read by iTunes.

My sister just got a new iPod Classic. We hooked it up to the family computer and Windows found it, but iTunes won't read it. We tried it on my computer and it worked fine. After updating iTunes and following the guide on this site, it still won't work. Any suggestions other than what we've already done? Is there a way to directly contact Apple? The family computer runs Windows XP Media Center Edition, by the way.

Well there are about a million "guides on this site" for the same problem.

  • My Ipod touch isn't being recognizd in iTunes or in my computer.

I need help badly lol. Ok as in the title my ipod isn't being recognized by iTunes or windows. Also it doesnt come on unless plugged into my computer or some power source. But when it does come on all it shows is a USB cord with an arrow pointing to the words iTunes. I don't know what to do, I've searched for about 5-6 hours trying to fix this blasted thing and no solution works yet. I've done the reset, uninstall reinstall itunes, restart my computer, uninstall the drivers from device manager and reinstall them after a computer restart. Absolutely nothing works, is it time i chunk the thing in the garbage or what?

    first try:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    next
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
