My 2008 Macbook froze (though iTunes kept playing), and wouldn't turn off, so I had to take the battery out to turn it off. However, it is not turning on. The battery was in condition of "needs to be replaced soon", but is there any way I can start it up?
Last night, I was listening to a podcast, and my Mac froze. The mouse would not work, and neither would any of the buttons, but the podcast continued to play as if nothing was wrong. I tried to turn it off and on with the power button, but it did not respond. I had to take out the battery and put it back in.
However, the Mac is no longer starting up. The battery was old, and needed to be replaced soon. Because I have three important exams next week, and I have all of my notes on that device, I was wondering if there was a way to get the Macbook to work again, without taking the time to replace the battery? I've tried plugging it in, but it doesn't seem to charge.
Thanks!
Does the unit not run on the charger alone? (take the battery out and plug it in.)

I had files stored on a hard drive that were not on my Mac. I used the hard drive for my first Time Machine back up, but it was not enough hard drive space to finish. Now those stored files are gone. Is there any way I can recover them? No, they were not part of previous Time Machine backups, and I have checked both the hard drive the documents were lost on and the new one that I now use for backups. Any suggestions would be helpful, as the lost files are old pictures that are gone forever. :[ Thanks!
1. Yes, if both drives are formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
2. Reformat the drives if needed, open the Time Machine pane of System Preferences, and remove the drive with the pictures from the list of items set to be excluded.

my iphone screen is broken and i need to access it through itunes but my phone is locked. it cannot be unlocked on the screen but is there any way i can do it on itunes so i can access it?
Depends, if you've synced with this iTunes, while that passcode was enabled, you won't be prompted to enter the passcode when connecting your phone. If you have not synced, while that passcode was enabled, you will. So, if you fall in the later, there is no way to do what you want.

1. With just ONE inattentive sweep of my finger one page of my note disappered. Further more, the same page in my iPad was deleted automatically too! How could this happen? Is there any way it can be recovered without using the backup feature from iCloud? The data is vey important to me?
2. I havn't connect the power code to my iPad yet, the backup copy in the iClout was before the accident as I checked in iPad. Is there any way that I could open my notes in iCloud backup so that I can copy the missing page and move back to my iPad and iPhone?
Thanks a lot for any help!
XueyuSorry, no. The only way to restore this note is to restore from a backup that contains it.

I was syncing everything to itunes and I tried to do my contacts, not knowing quite how. I ended up erasing all of them from my phone without any of them syncing to my computer or itunes. Is there any way I can get them back? I really need them all.
There are lots of ideas floating on the web for this particular issue - all of which I tried. I had the same problem and it turned out to be my USB cable. I thought the cable was fine as it would charge my phone and play but the data transfer pin was bent. I replaced the cable and it fixed the problem. Worth a shot as it is an easy fix!

My MacBook was wiped of all my music and everything else, and now my iTouch is the only device with my entire music database. My iTouch is old. (Version 6.1.6, Model number: MC547LL/A) Is there any way I can put all the music on my iTouch back onto my MacBook? I hate that I could lose my entire music library by dropping my iTouch in the toilet.
I've tried to plug in my iTouch into my MacBook, but I can't seem to give the music-transfusion without subscribing to iTunes Match or just completely wiping my iTouch.
PLEASE HELP MEEEEEYour i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss. To use a device with a different setup you transfer the old library from a computer or a backup directly to the new setup, not the device to the library. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991 -
I just downloaded a video in HD, but I found out after the download was over my computer doesn't play HD videos. Is there any way I can return the video and get the SD version, or upgrade my computer so it will play the HD video?
From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3209
When you purchase an HD video on a supported device or computer, only HD video will be downloaded. To download the SD version, you need to download the video again from your Purchased page. Conversely, if you purchase an HD video on an unsupported device, the SD version will be downloaded. Then, you will need to download the HD version from your Purchased page. If your phone is offline, the ONLY way to find it is to look for it the old fashioned way. Your phone CANNOT be located electronically if it's offline.

My computer was formatted but I need to access my old content on my itunes backups. Is there any way I can acquire these iTunes backup files ever again?
I tried recovery software but had no luck! You reformatted the drive in your computer. The backup files you want to access were overwritten when you re-formatted the drive. They are gone. There may be data recovery services that can get them back. Search google if you want. This has absolutely nothing to do with using an iPhone at this point. You deleted files on your computer...

I have redeemed my iTunes giftcard (which was accepted without verification; it only needed my password)
However when I tried to make a purchase, I am required to verify my identity, and thus I cannot use the giftcard which I HAVE REDEEMED. Is there any way I can un-redeem it? I am currently trying to enter all of the possibilities for my questions, and my iPad is new, so the serial number is not registered with my account. According to support, no purchases have been made in my account, so I can't verify my identity through credit card. Please help!~You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.
If you just want to have the card un-redeemed, use the form.

I need to transfer up to two hundred Pages and Keynote files from my macbook running on Mac OS X 10.6.8 to my PC running windows. Is there any way I can convert all of the files to word-friendly documents as a batch change or will I have to open each individual file and re-save it as a word-friendly file?

We have a gift card for iTunes that was purchased in the United States and we live in Canada and iTunes won't allow us to redeem it. Is there any way we can exchange it?
Sorry, but as KP guessed, Apple will not exchange the card, and you are correct that you can't use a US iTunes card in Canada. You will need to give or sell it to someone in the US.

Can FCPX "upconvert" & export DVD video at 960x540?
My video needs are basic -- mostly editing short clips, but often they're imported from standard DVDs from the pre-HD era. But as an audio pro, I'm accustomed to very flexible and precise editing controls. Frustrated with iMovie, I'm considering purc

Hi, my Retina MacBook Pro 13' can't stream videos.
I just bought it like 3 months ago branch new and it will get through a 3 minute YouTube video and stop 20 seconds in and take an eternity to load anything else. Same with flash video, same with streaming like hulu. It seems to be performing fine. I
