My 2014 MacBook Pro with retina displays crashes when I run Premiere Pro CS5
Hi,
I just purchased a 2014 MacBook Pro with Retina display with the following specs:
2.8GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 4.0GHz
16 GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
Intel Iris Pro Graphics and NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M with 2GB of GDDR5 memory
I am running Premiere Pro CS5 with Mercury Playback GPU Acceleration enabled, but my computer keeps freezing and I have to restart it every time. Any kind of help or feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
I had to call Apple and the tech made me enter a bunch of terminal commands to fix this. Unfortunately I can't tell you excactly what it was. I think the best way would be to call Apple.

Macbook pro with retina display , noisy when streaming
Yesterday I bought macbook pro with retina display 2.4GHz, 8Gb RAM, 256Gb flash storage ( 2088 SG$ ) from Challenger , Singapore.
If I watch online steaming ( e.g youtube.,etc ) , my macbook pro's fan start noisy and increase body temperature because of load .
I checked in activity monitor, CPU usage increased. So How should I do now ?I had this exact problem when watching streams on my Macbook pro retina 15". For the sake of testing, I tried opening the same stream i was testing in chrome, using 120 % of cpu, in safari, where it uses roughly 3-10 %. dont't know if this will solve your problem, but I advice trying it.

Macbook Pro with Retina Display crash 3 times on the first day
This is my first Mac computer and it's not a cheap one.
I upgraded the spec on the laptop so it took a while for it to ship.
But within the first day, I got three crash already. I google on the issues and it seems like I'm not the only one who having this problem.
From what I read over the web, the crash is related to the graphic card.
Will this issues be resolve any time soon by update?
Should I go exchange for a new one at the apple store? I really don't want to wait another month again.
System Spec:
2.6Ghz i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD.

From what we know so far, the problem is a software one (Apple's fault), not a hardware problem. Mountain Lion is supposed to fix the issue, which should be out in about a week. So you could wait til then, upgrade to ML, and see if its still crashing or not.

MacBook Pro with retina display freezes when streaming from Vudu
I don't know if anyone has experienced this before. I have been trying to watch Non-Stop on Vudu tonight with a lot of issues. After streaming for a while, perhaps some 15-20 minutes or so, the video starts buffering non-stop (ha!). The problem is that once that happens, I cannot click on anything. The buffering doesn't stop, but even if I try to quit Safari, the thing freezes Safari and freezes the entire computer. I have been working with Apple for the past 2 hours and nothing that has been done seems to fix the problem. I even ran a diagnostic and it said that I had no issues.
This is the first time I have streamed from Vudu. I never had issues streaming from anywhere else. I am running a Netflix video in the background to see if it will freeze. Since it's not a full screen, I don't know if it will do the same. Nothing else seems to cause a problem, but what is bizarre is that it freezes the entire computer. In the case that the website was messing everything up, I don't know why it has to freeze the entire computer.
Has anyone else experienced this, and if so did you get to a solution and how?
Thanks!I had this exact problem when watching streams on my Macbook pro retina 15". For the sake of testing, I tried opening the same stream i was testing in chrome, using 120 % of cpu, in safari, where it uses roughly 3-10 %. dont't know if this will solve your problem, but I advice trying it.

MacBook Pro with Retina Display 10.8.5 running out of memory
I have deleted a lot of files off my mac and still showing only
Available: 90.59 GB (90,587,054,080 bytes)
Capacity: 250.14 GB (250,140,434,432 bytes)
Trying to find out what is hogging all the memory. Or is there a way to clear out some cache in a hidden place?
Thanks,
VickiThis is a question painted with a bit of a "broad" brush.
Provde some more detil, and someone will be able to offer more deinitive advice/suggestions.
If you deleted the items, have you done a secure empty trash?
Are you talking about storage or RAM.
If RAM , yes you can empty Caches, for things like Safari/web, and other things that are system dependent. Also empty your trash if you allow things to build up there.
If you mean staorage (HD/SDD) moving music/pics/vids to an external "Archive" drive, checking that they have been sucsefully copied, you can then delete them from your internal drive to free up space. -
My Macbook Pro with Retina display stutters when scrolling
When I scroll my documents up-or-down with the trackpad or a connected trackball ... the screen visibly stutters (can't think of a better word). Doesn't matter what app or which User mode I use. Seems to be getting worse with each Mavericks update!
I had to call Apple and the tech made me enter a bunch of terminal commands to fix this. Unfortunately I can't tell you excactly what it was. I think the best way would be to call Apple.

Transfer iWork '09 to new MacBook Pro with Retina Display?
I want to transfer Pages, Keynote, and Numbers from my old MacBook Pro running OS 10.8.2, to a new 13 inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display which is also running on 10.8.2. The problem is, I got iWork from the disc and it's already maxed out on it's uses. So... I tried to transfer from a Time Machine backup, but when I went to Migration Assistant, it didn't read My Passport for Mac, even though my computer read it on Finder. Why isn't that working? Also, I know I would have to transfer the Applications folder, but will there be duplicates, like 2 iPhotos or 2 iTunes? Lastly... is there anyway to just transfer iWork? I already tried Aiddropping and just dragging it from a Time Machine backup into my applications folder, but it says that I'm not authorized, or something like that.
Thanks!I'm sure if you go to the Apple Store and explain that you're no longer using iwork on your old Macbook (are you?) they'll give you a copy of iWork. If you are using iWork on your old macbook pro, then explain that if you had have bought them on the app store, you'd be able to use more copies. Hopefully an employee will sort it out!

MacBook Pro with Retina display not transferring new songs.
I have the 15" MacBook Pro with Retina display. When I plug my iPod classic (4th gen) into my MacBook, my iTunes does not display that it has been connected as it does with my iPhone. However, screen on my iPod shows that it is connected. Also, my newly purchased songs are not getting transferred from my iTunes to my iPod.
What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue? Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your Mac? Have you tried another USB cable just in case?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the Mac?
How to reset iPod
Have you carefully worked through each and every single suggestion in this Apple support document?

How to install Windows 8 on Macbook pro with retina display ?
Hi - How to install Windows 8 on Macbook pro with retina display ?
I am pretty new to the apple world. Tried doing it through bootcamp but did not success.
I am not interested to install it through Parallels or Fusion. Plz guide.
Thanks !OK, use Windows 8 in Bootcamp. Be aware that there are no Bootcamp drivers for Windows 8 yet. So you may experiance not only delays but display problems, freezing, crashes and other problems.
Here is the Bootcamp forum. Make sure you read all the posts from people experiencing Windows 8 problems with Bootcamp. https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp -
How does Autodesk Maya run on the MacBook Pro with Retina Display?
Hello there,
I'm interested in using the MacBook Pro with Retina Display for Autdesk Maya and wanted find out what people's experiences with that are. It'd be great if anyone can help share their experiences!
Thanks! One thing I do know, is the the UI is very small and menu items/buttons are hard to see. Someone posted a video of a now removed autodesk forum response on how to adjust font sizes .cfg file style, but I tried and it did nothing to the small text in Maya 2014. If you plan on it and don't have button and menu locations memorized by feel, I wouldn't use this software on a macbook pro without an external display, or change the resolution out of retina to use Maya.

Hello, I have MacBook Pro with Retina display. How can I get retina support to my Adobe Acrobat pro? It is version 10.1.13 and it says it is up to date.
Problem is that my pdf files look terrible although I have MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014). I have Adobe Creative Suite Design Standard version 6.0 (Mac). I have installed every possible update. I think problem is that for some reason my CS doesn´t support retina display? If I view a pdf file in iMessage, it looks fantastic. But if I open the same document in Adode Acrobat Pro, it looks awful. What can I do?
Thank you so much for your help.

MacBook Pro with Retina Display Case?
I recently purchased the new mid-2014 15" MacBook Pro with Retina Display, and I wanted to buy a protective case in case of bumps, scratches, marks, etc. I bought the Tech21 Impact Snap Case, and I'm pretty sure it's making my computer overheat, as the keyboard and unibody feel much more warm to the touch when the case is on. Has anyone else experienced this problem with this particular case? Does anyone have recommendations for cases that protect the MacBook Pro but don't interfere with ventilation/cause it to overheat? Thanks so much!
Have you checked the Speck smart-shell cases . But regarding the increasing heat they will not help as well. I know that MacBooks are designed as aluminum in order to give the heat out of the body, but the cases prevent it to some degree. They work as an insulating agent rather to help the heat get out. I would recommend to use a good carrying bag to protect your new device while travelling. Not much will happen while it is at your desk when you are using.
