  • MacBook Pro 13' Inch Won't Turn On

WWell, basically tge computer was working perfectly, then it just turned off. One time it turned back on, but I had to reset the entire computer, couple days later, same thing, but not entirely. Instead of reseting, it won't even turn on. Even with the charger in or out. It's been like this for a few weeks now, & I've tried everything, by leaving it off for a few days, and I even took it to the Apple store, they said tgey don't know whats wrong it. They said I would have to send it back to the factory, but before I do that, any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service. Send it back to the factory.

  • My macbook pro 13 inch won't turn on!

It appears to be charging, and the button on the left says that it's charging, but it won't respond to anything (power button, screen closure, anything.) help!!
I bought it almost exactly a year ago, and it has worked like a dream until now.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, Rachel, but if the hard drive's dead, that's it.
    You've lost everything.
I've been there three times, with lots of legal documents, and lovely e-mails from countless women on dating sites, so I know how it feels.
    Nightmare.
    Total nightmare.
The data can be retrieved by specialist companies, but it costs about $ 2,000.
Put the hard drive in another, working Mac, and then you'll know whether it's the hard drive, or another issue.
    Good luck.
Let me know how you get on.
    Best,
    Michael

  • Late 2008 MBP 15-inch corrosion on logic board (photo) -- won't turn on

My MPB  late 2008 15-inch won't turn on.  I get a black screen, the sleep light is solid, the hard drive hums, but then after 3 seconds it turns off.  POST portion of bootup won't run.  After reading some on these boards I figure its the logic board.
Took it into the apple store, they say water or user-caused damage.  $1200 bucks to fix (i'm out of warranty, but i guess it wouldn't be covered on warranty any how).  Might as well buy a new comp at that price.  I have never spilled water or other liquids on this or used it in otherwise wet environments, but it is what it is.
Went home, opened up the comp to see the logic board's damage, and it does look like there is some corrision (see below in photo, copper/salt covered bit).
So I'm looking to repair on my own with third-party.  I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this sort of "corrsion" before and succeeded in switchign out the logic board and getting the computer working again?
If its salvageable, i've got a quote from a local guy who can do it for $330 with one year warranty on the whole computer.  Is that a decent price?
    Thanks for any help.

sure, make sure you unplug the power, take out the battery and hold the power button for like 15 seconds or so with the battery out and the power not plugged in.
make sure you're on a static free surface or make sure you've grounded your body .
let it sit for a while after you've done this, and make sure you're using the right rubbing alcohol. There is one that is 99% I believe.

My MacBook Pro 13" won't turn on 90% of the time I try to get it running, and when it does turn on, even on a charger, it shuts down if I stop using it for 2+ seconds and it won't turn back on. Should I replace the battery?  It doesn't hold a charge either...

    EmadJamal,
the battery won’t melt because of long connection to the AC charger, although that has the potential of reducing the battery’s life.
Do you have access to a second 60 W AC charger to test with your MacBook Pro, or access to a second 13-inch MacBook Pro against which your AC charger could be tested?

  • My MacBook Pro died and won't turn on

My MacBook was playing music and suddenly started skipping the song. It then died - black screen and won't turn on. The little button on the bottom left side still allows the tiny circles of green to come on, but no sound, no nothing on the screen.

  • My relatives 2009 Macbook Pro won't turn on and isn't taking a charge.

Holding down the power button has no effect and when the charger is inserted, there is no green or red/orange light. All outlets are functioning and the computer was working as it always had the day before. Help?

    Hi Cygnus and Lyra,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If the MacBook Pro doesn't respond when the power button is pressed, or seem to recognize the charger, these troubleshooting steps can help:
If the wall outlet is working and you continue to have no power try another power cord or adapter if available. If it works you may need a replacement cord or adapter.
Note: See Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters for further troubleshooting with MagSafe adapters.
Disconnect all accessories that are plugged in to the computer, such as a printer, hub, or other mobile device.
If your Mac supports user-installable memory, solid state drive, or hard drive, and you recently installed any of these, make sure they are installed correctly and are compatible with your computer. If possible, reinstall the original memory or drive into the computer to find out if the behavior persists afterwards.

  • Macbook Pro won't turn on more than a few seconds.

    Hi everyone,
I have a Macbook Pro 13" that I bought in November 2011. Last night it began having issues and won't turn on. I can hit the power button and the light in the front will turn on, the hard drive and fan turn on, but then after maybe 5 or 10 seconds it shuts off and then starts trying to reboot again. It does this over and over. First the light, then the hard drive and fan turn on, then it turns off and starts to try to turn on again. I can leave it on the table and it will just keep doing this. Every once in a while it sounds like it is completely booted but the screen stays black. I know it isn't the hard drive because I tested a brand new one in it last night and it did the same thing. I recently had to replace the dc in-board part because it wasn't connecting to the charger. I didn't have any problems until I did this. Could anyone tell me if they've had the same problem and what you did? I've tried holding down different keys (option, control, etc.) when it starts like other boards have suggested but so far nothing has worked.
Below are the directions I used to replace the dc in-board. Maybe when I took it apart I injured another part that causes the mac to be able to start.

  • My iBook G4 won't turn on

My iBook G4 won't turn on. I was charging my iPod. I took out the iPod charger and the computer suddenly went dead. When I pushed the power button, the fan comes on but nothing else happens. I've tried taking out the battery and plugging the computer directly into the wall without the battery in it. I also tried all the troubleshooting tricks on the Apple website, and nothing has worked. I need help!

I am having this same problem. I let my iBook g4 12 inch (purchased in Jan 05) stay sleeping on low battery a few times recently and when I was later working with it the screen would go black, and after a reboot attempt I got nothing but the fan running full blast. At the suggestion of others on the internet I pinched it on the left near the track pad and it started up. Is there a permanent fix to this or is it just a matter of time before I have to kiss my laptop goodbye? How much time do I have to get all of my information off of this machine?

  • Brand new iMac 21.5" won't turn on - straight out the box

I just picked up my new iMac today and unpacked it etc, but it won't turn on. The wireless keyboard and mouse are supposed to be paired with it and ready to go, but the on switch on the keyboard won't turn the screen on (as far as I can tell there is no on switch on the iMac itself). The green light on the keyboard keeps blinking but doesn't connect to the iMac to turn it on. I've tried a different power cable in the iMac but that makes no difference. Does anyone know of a solution, or will it have to go back to the shop ( ) ?

The power switch is locate in the back on the lower left side as you look from the front. Did you connect the power cord and plug in the computer? There is no power button on the keyboard.

  • PowerBook G4 17in 1.3ghz won't turn on

My Powerbook won't turn on. Before that it was being slow waking up from sleep. I was using it and it frozed, had to force shut down, then it frozed while loading osx and I had to force shut down. After that it won't start. Sometimes I have been able to hear the chime, a couple of times it started up and gor frozed in the login window but most of the times it won't start at all. I changed the ram and nothing happened. The caps key light can be turn on/off. I read about leaving it charging without the battery to charge the backup battery and nothing. The power cord is in green light. Please help I need to work

    Hi n,
    You wrote,
I would just get it replaced. The PRAM battery is not that expensive and should resolve the problem you are having.
The only new PRAM batts for PowerBooks are for the 1.67ghz 17-inch models:
Newer Technology Replacement PRAM/clock battery for PowerBook G4 17" Aluminum 1.67GHz systems
    The OP has a 1.33Ghz
In addition, the battery installation takes a fairly deep teardown that's beyond the typical user. A casual recommendation to replace the battery is not always appropriate unless you probe enough to determine the OP's comfort of opening up a notebook full of tightly-packed tiny parts.
I think he is saying the PRAM battery might be dead.
I, like japamac, don't need a translator. Please don't do this. You did it in the past, were cautioned, and stopped; please stay with "stopped."

I successfully upgraded to Mavericks 2 weeks ago and have been having sporadic problems.
Today my Mac Book Pro 15" 2012 edition (not retina) turned off while I was using it and will not turn back on.
    Anyone have a similiar problem?

    Hello ColeSF,
It sounds like you have been using OS X 10.9 for a bit and suddenly in the middle of using it, the computer shut down will not turn back on. I was researching what could be causing this to happen and found this article that should help you troubleshoot the issue named:
Troubleshooting: My computer won't turn on
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1367
Verify you have a good connection from your Mac to the wall outlet by confirming the power cord and adapter if present are securely connected and plugged in. To check if the wall outlet is working, plug in a lamp or other electrical device.
