My 30 gig is only showing 750 mb of capacity.

I have restored my 30 gig after my computer wouldnt reconize it anymore...then i found that the capacity wasn't any more then 800 mb.
Why did this happen, and how would i go about restoreing it to its 30gig status.

Along with what Skydiver119 has already told you, my 64GB iPad 3 only had 57GB of available storage out of the box, so if you keep doubling the amount of already used storage on the device as you go from 16 to 32 to 64 and then to 128GB - I assume that the figure that you see is correct. The iOS and preinstalled apps account for the storage that seems to be "missing" to you on your iPad.
The amount that you see in Settings>General>About>Capacity is in fact, the available storage capacity for your iPad. You can't change it. It is whatever it says it is in that setting.

250 Gig HD only shows 182 gig after install

Hi everyone.
I have an issue that has been bugging me for about 2 years. I am getting ready to do a major back-up and reinstall and thought i would ask about this.
The beast is a 700 mhz flat panel G4 768mb ram iMac. I installed a Seagate (i think, its been a while) 250 gb hard drive but it only recognizes 182 gb.(about this mac/ATA)
I have upgraded to tiger thinking that an upgrade would help but that did nothing for the recognition issue.
Is there anything I can do about this?
It's not really a problem. just bugs me a little.

actually it says 186.31 capacity in the "more inf/ATA" heading.
I didnt split it up if thats what you mean by partitioning it. I just selected the basic single partition or all one drive option then let the Apple disk utility do the rest.
I have tried permission and disk repair but that didn't do anything for me. I was going to attempt another erase and reinstall but I havent had the time to get everything backed up on my external drive.

500 GB TC only showing 476.9 after erase.

After erasing TC to start a new fresh install, I only show 476.9 GB capacity. Shouldn't it be 500 since it's a 500 GB? Or at least a bit closer than 476.9?
I opened the TC and manually deleted all files and then erased through AirPort Disks.
Is 476.9 a normal true capacity for the 500 GB or have I lost 23.1 Gig somehow?

That is normal. When you format a drive you always lose some space. The bigger the drive, the more space you lose. On my 1TB drive, there is only around 960GB of free space. Just look at the hard drive on your computer and you will see that the total space of the drive does not match what you would have on paper (ie: if you have an 80GB drive you will see that you really only have around a 71GB partition.

Memory speed only showing 200mhz on post

so heres a strange one. I just moved the guts of my system into a new case this past weekend. When I booted up for the first time I noticed in post my memory speed is only showing 200mhz. I have 3 sticks of memory in my system and should run at 333mhz, which it was befor ethe move. Even mroe curious, I took out one stick and set the remaining two in slots 1/3 and the system only reads it as 333... not 400. I am a bit perplexed and have no clue how to fix this. My specs are below. I know that it is HIGHLY recommended to run chips that are similar but I've never had a problem until I moved the guts to the new case.
In bios I have memclock set to AUTO. I have changed the memclock to LIMIT DDR400 but that doens't change anything. I've tryed changing the CL/TRCD/TRAS/TRP with both LIMIT DDR400 and AUTO.... no changes. I have upped the voltage all the way to 2.85 with again both memclock settings. I have played around with my FSB, I've gotten it all the way to 215 without a problem, but memroy always stays at 200mhz. The only thing I haven't tryed is resetting the bios witht he jumper and starting over (though I had reset bios defualts, rebooted and then made all teh changes again).
I ran Memtest for 24 hours on all three sticks and they all came out clean. I also ran Sandra 2005 and the numbers are embarrassing for the kind of system I have. I'm stumped, any suggestions?
OH, one last thing, I booted the system with just one stick of memroy in each slot, thats 9 boots... each witht he setting of memclock at AUTO and again at LIMIT400... it either ran at 200mhz or 333mhz on post....
So there is my ordeal, system is stable but I'd like to get the memmory back up to where it was before the swap.

Ok... I shoulld clarify.
with 3 sticks of DDR3200 sandra ran a little over 1200
with 2 sticks of DDR3200 (slots 1 and 3) sandra ran a tad over 2108

Hold Option key at start up only show Mac OS but Windows

i have installed windows xp on my macbook(the new one with leopard).
and windows work well.
but when i hold option key at start up, it only show me mac os.
i don't know why.how can i make it show me 2 systems(mac and windows) after i hold option key at start up?

If I remember correctly, Bootcamp needs an NTFS partition for Windows in order to work correctly. This is the default file system for WindowsXP. The Bootcamp assistant tells you during installation that a FAT32 partition already exists and, curiously, gives you the default selection of leaving this intact. You need to ignore that and format using NTFS. If you don't, then Windows wont boot. To convert to NTFS, you will need to run the assistant again and reinstall Windows.
To overcome the problem of data portability between WinXP and OSX, I use a small 30 gig USB external drive formatted using FAT32 as a bridge between the two. Hope all this is useful?

Seagate Barracuda 200 GB only shows 127 GB

All,
Recently received OWC firewire enclosure OWCMEFW911UPL to put subject HD in. Drive only shows up as 127 GB when mounted. Confused as to whether the mac can handle a 200 GB drive; I've received conflicting information. Any ideas what's going on? OWC claims the enclosure should work with drives up to 750 GB.

Not to be a nitpick, but that's not the same problem at all.
The 128 GiB limit is because older enclosures (*) use 28-bit addressing, so they can only address blocks up to 128 GiB. Newer enclosures use 48-bit addressing and can use up to 128 PiB (e.g. lots. :)) Wikipedia link
(*) and older ATA controllers, like those in PowerMac G4 Quicksilver and older. There's software to help in those cases, just like there probably is a firmware update for the enclosure.

hey everbody and anybody! I have this very same problem with a 30 gig 5g ipod video and have found very little help or answers. I had 27+ gig, did a restore because I got write-delay errors, then went to update from itunes library and received an error that I didn't have enough space!! Meanwhile on my mac book pro, the "icloud" contact is still spinning like its trying to update the rest of the missing contacts. I have let the computer run for 2 days straight and still no progress. Is there a limit to how many contacts I store on "iCloud" I have upgraded to the extra 25 gigs per year. If anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it, because its also slowing down my mac book pro significantly causing it hard to do any other task on my computer....Any advice or help would be again greatly appreciated.

On the surface, it doesn't sound like you're reaching a limit in the number of contacts you can have.
I would first create a contacts archive (file >> export) for a backup. Then, go to system preferences >> icloud and uncheck contacts. Reboot. Return to those preferences and recheck contacts.
Also, review http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4489 just in case you have some contact cards that are reaching a different limitation.

After restoring to factory settings/new iPod you will then have to restore from backup
To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

OK, I solved it. Here is the solution if you have precisely the problem I had.
1. On the iOS device: delete the iCloud account.
2. Go to the Apple ID website and make sure the ONLY email there is the me.com email and that it is set as primary. If you Mac.com email is listed as a secondary email THIS will cause the problem. So delete the Mac.com email.
3. Log back in to iCloud on the iOS device.
Only you wanted to use the Mac.com address and not the me.com one, you could follow the above instructions just swapping me and Mac.

From my experience, the only way you're gonna get a PC afflicted with this disease to work with a 5th gen nano is to roll back to an earlier version of iTunes. Those affected have been exhausted by this ongoing issue. To update or not to update? And I always say never update unless you have to, and turn off all that auto update mess!
I have two core2duo lappies running 32b vista. My workflow dictates 32b fyi. One is acer aspire running itunes v 11.1 (.0.126), 5th gen nano was originally formatted and works just fine on this machine to this day. My other is the bigger badder lenovo thinkpad and the 5th gen will NOT mount using any version of itunes past 11.0 (.1.12) Windows mounts it just fine. itunes is not having it. no shirt no shoes no service.
I have both a 4th and 5th gen nano. The 4th gen works great on both machines, I even successfully tested it with the latest version (11.1.5) before subsequent deletion on the thinkpad! Weird huh? I think my next experiment might be to restore my 5th gen w/ a Mac and theeeeen plug it into PC itunez.
I'm at a loss on the thinkpad. Scanned for intruders. Cut the Lenovo bloat. Executed system and reg maintenance. Took down msconfig to a safe mode + itunes level to attempt to resolve possible sw conflicts but to no avail. NO NO NO. Every single dang port, every time on the thinkpad. Has me feeling like others might get the same treatment by the next itunes update. :|
So in summary for me:
5th gen nano and thinkpad are a NoGo on 11.1^ last working version for me = 11.0.1
5th gen nano is working on an acer aspire 11.1.0 but no way in the world am I updating
4th gen nano is kicking 5th gen nano's @zz so what would make me want to buy a new ipod?
