My 32 gb ipad shows a 28 gb capacity, is this normal?

My brand new and unused 32 gb ipad shows a 28 gb capacity. Anybody knows if it is normal. If so, thank God I didn't buy a 8 gb iPad. Thanks

Ipad shows 12.5 gb capacity and 1.0gb available but cant find that much data on ipad

i ipad shows that i have only 1 gb of storage left but i dont have very much on it as far as apps less than (2gb in total when i add them up). i do have 2 gb of movies and less than i gb of music and pictures combined.

I would suggest the following steps;
1. Back up your iPad to iTunes on your Computer.
2. Disconnect your device once done.
3. Back up to iCloud on your iPad.
4. Sign out of iCloud on your iPad, then sign back in again.
5. Reset your iPad by pressing the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button simultaneously for about 15 seconds. After a few seconds, the display will go black - keep both buttons pressed all the time though - and then the display will come back on white, with a black Apple logo. Then let go of the buttons, and let your iPad reboot as normal, entering your passcode if used, when prompted.
6. Then reconnect to iTunes on your computer, and you should see your data has come down.
Don't worry, you won;t lose any data at all by resetting your iPad as described above.

I decided to first "restore" my phone in the itunes store and then i "Erase(d) All Contents and Settings". Its been taking longer then a couple hours and it is not showing the apple logo is is showing the circle loading screen. Is this normal? Please help!

Try a normal reset; just turn your phone off and then on again:

Then connect it to your computer (with iTunes already running) via the USB cable.
Give it a few seconds, then look for your phone's icon in the left-hand column of the iTunes window. Click on it once.
In the right-hand (large) column of the iTunes window, look for RESTORE TO FACTORY SETTING. Click on that and let it happen; it will take a few minutes.
Do not bother with the Erase All command from your iPhone's Settings app - unless you have a significant security concern, it is not necessary to do that.

I actually have this problem with an old iPad. I have used it for over 3 years, and in the last few weeks, both my wife's iPad and mine have started getting very hot during extended use. I don't see anything in the discussion, but is this a function of IOS 8.0.2, rather than dependent on the iPad? I cannot say for sure we noticed it right at the time we did the OS upgrade, but it seems like it was about that time. Just to be really clear, the heating is recent behavior. It did not happen for the first 3 years we had our ipads. Now they get so hot we cannot keep using them on our laps after 20-30 minutes. And is is not the weather or ambient temperature. It happens when it is 65 F. Have not been able to find out why, or how to limit whatever processes are generating the extra heat.
also, battery life got shorter. Probably because so much energy is turning into heat.

Yes I understand this. I have done this, even deleted songs which I did not want on there. My concern is songs have showed up which I did not purchase. (And currently my music library is designated as "show all" off). I would like to know how this is happening and is there a way to prevent it from happening

Freshly restarted mbp shows 390mb of active memory, is this normal?

Note this is only active memory not includig wired. It is a 4gb week old brand new model. Just double checking thanks. I guess these new computers take up more RAM than what I am used to. I dont mind as long as its normal because the controls are sooooo smooth.

Thanks, I noticed that when I hadn't restarted for a few days active RAM quickly got up to 2 gigs but Im sure that is expected.

I do not know if it's relevant or not, but I got a message on my ipad while on safari saying that my iPhone has a virus. I looked it up and it seems it might have just been an ad from the website I was on, but it happened around the same time YouTube stopped working.

Did you try resetting the iPad?
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears- let go of the buttons.
If that doesn't do anything, try this for the issue with iTunes not seeing the iPad.

You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.
To get back to having menus again. "Firefox" button -> Options (second column) -> (check) Menu Bar
