My 32 gig iphone 4 shows 15.5 gig used for "other" what is it?

when I sync my iphone I can see what takes up the space in my 32 gig. I show 0.9 gig for audio, 2.1 gig for photos, 5.3 gig for apps and only 3 gigs available. I'm trying to make more space but it shows a whopping 15.5 gigs for "other" How do I figure out what the other is?

i thought the photo stream only holds 1000 i usuaaly take each month and save them to iphoto but if thats the my ipad should say the same amount and it doesnt - it shows 2.5 gig which is correct for iphoto. and i havent ever had that much but if for some reason icloud has that much saved how do i delete and again if it does why doesnt ipad show that amount _ HELP!

However, I can tell you that if you power cycle the phone, Other will diminish significantly in size. So it probably contains caches, app workspaces, whathaveyou. Just had close to 4GB, but after force quitting all apps and then turning it off and on, Other went down to a tad over 1GB.

Insert a SIM card. If the phone is carrier locked, it must be from the correct carrier. You MUST have a SIM card present to activate the device. The SIM does NOT have to be "live". That is to say, the account it is/was tied to, does not have to be active.

I got bad advice at the Apple store - ended up with an iPhone 6 I can't use properly. What now?

I'm hoping I have some options that I can leverage.
The story goes like this:
- I went to the Apple Store in Palo Alto as I was visiting
- I wanted to purchase the iPhone 6 with the intent of using it in Australia
- I spoke with the staff and they told me that I should purchase the device full price and they pointed me to a model on their product list as well that would work far east / Australia
- I proceeded to make the iPhone 6 purchase at full price
- When I reached back in Australia, to my dismay, it turned out that the phone refused to support 4G LTE because of incompatible frequencies. I was told by folks locally that the model I was told to purchase was the wrong one for the market (A1549) !!
Two questions:
- Aren't the Apple store folks supposed to know the difference between the models particularly as I'd specifically requested for it?
- Is there absolutely any recourse for me (now that the phone and I are both in Australia) ?

There is no guarantee that any US iPhone will get 4G/LTE in any other country but it should work on 3G. You also have no warranty with that phone. The only unlocked iPhone currently sold at the Apple Store is the T-Mobile model although the Verizon model is also unlocked.
To get a model for the Australian market that works on 4G/LTE you should purchase the model A1549 in Australia. If you purchased your iPhone from the US in the past 30 days you can return to the states and return it.

300 Gig drive shows as 128 Gig

So, I've been moving things around and swapping drives in and out of my G4 and various enclosures. I put a new 300 Gig drive into a Maxtor FW enclosure, and for whatever reason (I'm assuming because of settings on the enclosure), when initializing it with DiskUtility, it formatted as 128 Gig. This was after I'd already formatted it once inside the G4 as 300 (or 278 or whatever it is). Now, I've got it back in my G4 and what to get it back up to it's real size, but can't get DiskUtility to do it... it keeps formatting to 128, even after a write zeros pass.
Anybody know how to get it to forget what size it thinks it is, so it can be reformatted correctly?

My best guess is that the bridge in the FW enclosure limited the drive to 128GB and now it's stuck there. I've seen this here before, with varying drive brands.
The following has worked for some folks, but not others:
Try to break the lock on the drive by first erasing it, using the option to overwrite the drive with zeroes. Then try to partition it, changing the partition scheme from "current" to 1 partition, 2 partitions, etc. If that doesn't do it try manually changing the partition sizes to something over 128GB and repartition.
If the above fails, return the drive and get another one. It seems that once they're really "stuck" and the above doesn't work, OS 9's Drive Setup and/or third party utilities don't help either. We've suggested reformatting them in PCs/for PCs, also to no avail, although maybe there the drive manufacturer's Windows-based software utility disk might do the trick (not tested).

2 X-Mas iPhones show negative black on the screen. What to do?

It's been a long time coming, but I finally got an iPhone! I was so excited until I watched my first video and saw that the screen was not as good as I expected. Anything black lost all detail and seemed to glow. After looking around a bunch I've seen that this is a slightly common issue. I've seen many screen shots of iPhones vs. iPod Touches with this problem, and all I can say is my iPhone looks like the iPod Touch. So, after having the iPhone purchased in California, I brought it back to my local Apple store in Soho. Well, sure enough, the new one is just the same? What should I do? I don't want to swap it out if another one will be just like this one, but I've waited so long, and this is a big issue to me. My black and white photos in my photo library look like crap too! Did anyone get a new iPhone with this issue, does it bother you? Have you had it fixed or replaced with a unit that looks good?

I was hoping the 1.1.3 patch would help. But it didn't. I am in the same boat as you. I had one replaced only to have the same problem. I know 5 people with iphones. Mine is the only one with the problem. They all got them for Christmas from the same store. I lost the iphone screen lottery. The apple store said come back in a week or so and try again.

Bought my 1st iPhone today (4S) Just started using for less than 5 minutes and it has a voice command that talks on Everything and the pages wont scroll up and down and cant change screens from the page it boots on. Wrong apps open when I open an app...

So I bought my wife our 1st iPhone 4S today w/ Verizon. I booted it up and it started having a voice repeat every command, and function (no, its not Siri).
BTW... Siri doesn't work, I can't scroll in the settings, when I open an app it actually opens the wrong app, and I can't find a way do fix any of it. I tried a hard boot by holding down the power button and the button on the lower midddle of the phone. When it rebooted, it got worse. Now what?
Not too excited about switching phones if this has already begun... Any advice would be appreciated.
