My 32GB 5th gen iPod won't sync

My 32GB 5th gen iPod won't sync. There is still over 10 GB free and my itunes is only 17 GB yet it won't let me sync anything. Can anyone help?

My ipod 32gb 5th gen will not sync to itunes or any mac computer. An error message appears saying that my ipod touch requires itunes ver10.7. Does anyone know how to get this on my ipod touch 5? I cannot find it, does it need to be installed onto my ipod from a computer?

  • 5th Gen iPods won't sync

my 60 & 80 gig iPods won't sync to iTunes. When I connect them, they appear in iTunes, but I cannot add or delete music and several of the playlists don't show up on the iPod. My newer 120 gig iPods work fine. This started on 8-8-10. I am running the current version of iTunes.

I've been having the same problem ever since I upgraded to iTunes 9. Before the update I never had any issues syncing new songs or playlists. I have purchased several new albums and haven't been able to get them synced to my iPod. When I plug in my iPod I get the syncing message and the "Do Not Disconnect" message shows up on my iPod for about 30 seconds to a minute, but when it finishes nothing has been added and the storage amounts haven't changed.

  • 5th Gen ipod won't sync a video podcast

    I have a 80GB iPod, only a month and a half old, 5th Gen.
Thing is, I downloaded 5 video podcasts today, all from the same author.
One of these podcasts WILL sync onto my iPod, however the other four won't, saying that the video format isn't supported, when all five videos have the same format and type.
I have tried everything from renaming them to converting them and still nothing works.
    Can anyone please help? :]

I am having the same problem. The difference is that mine was syncing and then suddenly it won't sync anymore. Hope someone answers your question.

  • 5th Gen iPod won't sync using new iTunes and new Firmware

I updated the iTunes software and firmware for my iPod, and I was excited about how cool it looked. Unfortunately, it doesn't work. It synchronized once. Since then, it hasn't worked. iTunes just freezes up and the "Do Not Disconnect Screen" never goes away. It will just sit there for hours doing nothing and telling me that it is updating, when it fact it is doing nothing. I have even gone through all of the steps of reseting, re-installing, and reformatting it. It still won't sync, but now I have the pleasure of having a 6-month old 60 gig blank hard drive. Has anyone else experienced syncing problems? Any ideas on how I can get this to work again?

  • 5th gen iPod won't sync with iTunes

I have recently upgraded my iTunes to version 8. Now my iPod won't mount. I get the following error when I plug in the iPod: "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes." I've restored at least 6 times and nothing. I have also downgraded to the previous version of iTunes and it still won't work. Please help me. Right now I have a 30Gb lump of coal sitting in my desk. (The restore obviously removed all my music for it.)

Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? If not, have a look at the bottom section that covers what to try if the message keeps reappearing: iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore
Towards the end it says "If after restoring your iPod, the message described above reappears, the iPod drive letter may need to be reassigned. See the "Change the Drive Letter" section of this document for steps to assign a different drive letter" which contains a link to this article: Windows confuses iPod with network drive and iTunes may exhibit strange behavior in relation to the iPod.

    Help!!!
Tried the 5 R's. I have the IPOD in Disk Mode but whilst it will happily charge, it still is not seen by ITunes or Windows Explorer (though is visible inDisk Defragmenter). I have already un-installed and re-installed ITunes etc.
Prior to putting it into Disk Mode the IPOD still had my library on it and owuld happily work.

  • 5th Generation iPod won't sync video, says "format not supported"

My 5th gen iPod has stopped syncing video that formerly was happily synced, including a TV show I bought in iTunes. Only one video, a movie I converted in Handbrake, still syncs.
    Anybody got any ideas?

Maybe try to repair the iPod's HD using Disk Utility located in the Applications -> Utilities folder.  If that doesn't help, try a low level reformat of the drive using the same application.  Make sure you choose Mac OS X Extended (Journaled) as the file system format.

my 5th generation ipod won't sync anymore to my PowerMac G4.  It worked fine, but when I installed a new hard drive it won't work anymore.  I've re-installed iTunes, the latest version for Tiger, I've reset and restored my iPod.  The ipod shows up fine in the source banner and I can transfer files to it, however when I unplug the iPod the files are not there.

  • 5th Gen iPod Video not syncing all video podcasts

My 5th Gen iPod video is not syncing all of my video podcasts.
I did specify in the settings to sync all videos, but for some reason it only places 3 of each on the iPod. This is using the latest version of iTunes, OS X 10.4.8, and iPod up-to-date.
This did work fine with the previous version of iTunes and only seemed to happen since the "upgrade".
I've tried restoring the ipod - didn't work
    Reinstalled iTunes - didn't work
    Rebooted system - didn't work
    Undocked/Redocked iPod - didn't work
    Please Help.

Assuming you're running iTunes 7, connect the iPod and wait for it to appear in the iTunes source list. When it does, click on it, and click on the 'podcast' tab. Make sure it is set to sync all podcasts. Check the 'video' tab as well.
iTunes 7 included several new options for setting just how the iPod will update in iTunes. So, it's a good idea to go through them and make sure they're set exactly how you'd like them to be.
    Hope this helps

  • Podcasts listened to on classic (5th gen) iPod don't sync to iPhone

I have the feeling this has been covered before, but I get lost in threads of various ages talking about various versions of iOS, various versions of the Podcasts App, etc.
I have an iPhone 5C with the most current version of iOS (7.1.1) and the Podcasts (2.1.2) app.  My 17" MBP has the most recent version of Mavericks (10.9.3) and iTunes. (11.2.2).  I also have a 60GB, 5th gen iPod.
Before I got my iPhone, I would plug my classic iPod into the Mac to sync.  Worked flawlessly.  I would download new podcasts episodes into iTunes, plugging in to sync would update the played count on both the computer and iPod depending on where I played them, and mark the played episodes to delete, and push new episodes to the iPod.
When I set up my iPhone, there was some oddness originally with random old episodes showing up on the iPhone, which then propogated back to the mac.  I marked those as played, which got rid of them, and haven't had that problem again.  I have my iPhone set up with the Sync tab on, refresh at every 6 hours, limit episodes off, delete played episodes on, cell data off.  I have the download episdoes off for now, so the phone itself only updates episodes when I sync to the computer.  I recently changed that.  I'm not sure if it will effect anything.  I generally sync the iPhone over the wifi, although I do plug it into the laptop to charge at night - I'm not sure if this intiates a sync or not with the laptop lid closed.
The podcast app seems to work perfectly if I use the iPhone as my listening device.  I listen to something there, and it shows up as listened to on the Mac, changes propogate there well.  Later, if I plug in the iPod, it reflects those changes.
The only problem I seem to be having so far is listening to podcasts on the iPod.  If I listen there, when I plug it in to sync with the Mac, those changes show on the mac.  Later, if I sync the iPhone, however, changes that originated on iPod do not sync to the iPhone, even if the Mac is reflecting those changes, do not sync to the iPod.  So I play one of three new episodes of a podcast on my iPod, sync it, my Mac now shows only two new episodes of that podcast, my iPhone still shows three unplayed episodes, even after a sync.
    Is there anything I'm missing?

Well i have a solution that does not get messy.
    very simple:
    1. Make Sure your all your iPod songs are backed up.
    2. Restore iPod to factory settings
    3. re-sync iPod media
    4. enjoy.
    Hope this helped

  • 3rd Gen Ipod won't sync with Itunes since upgrade to Snow Leopard

    Hi,
I upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard and since then my trusty 3rd Gen Ipod will not sync with iTunes (9.0.3). It mounts in Finder, but does not appear in iTunes. The iPod will still charge, but it constantly displays the "Do Not Disconnect" message until manually ejected.
    Any help gratefully received.

  • 5th gen iPod won't show iTunes U

using an iTune 10 (latest update), and synching with the 5th gen iPod. The synch goes well and when connected to the iTunes i can see the iTunes U on the list but when I disconnect and I can't find iTunes U on the iPod lists and menus... I read in a related post (about 5th gen iPod nano) a reply asking if the guy had set the files to have the 'iTunes U' mediatype. What does it mean and how do I do that?

Have you set the files to have the 'iTunes U' mediatype?

  • 5th gen ipod won't connect to usb 3, is there a fix?

I have an ipod video (5th gen), and it won't connect to my new asus laptop since it only has usb 3 ports (I don't care if it will charge or not, I have a dock), my question is whether it could potentially connect to my computer so I could sync it if I use a usb 2 hub or something similar. My ipod recently formatted itself when it forced a reset, so I have to get my music all back. Anyone know a fix to it? Thanks for any help you guys can give me, really driving me crazy not having music to listen to when I'm out...

You did install the latest version of iTunes on your new computer, correct?  Installing iTunes is how the software needed for iPods to be recognized as iPod gets installed.  Otherwise, Windows sees it as a generic device.
    https://www.apple.com/itunes/
If the iPod is recognized by Windows, but not iTunes, you should go through this trouble-shooting document.
iPod: Appears in Windows but not in iTunes - Apple Support
FYI - My 3rd gen iPod from 2003 works fine with the latest iTunes; there's no such thing as an iPod that is too old.
