- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • 5th generation Ipod Touch won't charge past 20%?

I bought my 32 gb 5th generation Ipod Touch not more than 2 weeks ago at my local Walmart. Everything was working perfectly until today. All day, my ipod would charge until 20%.. run on this charge for approximately 10 minutes, and then die again. It does not continue charging after the 20% mark and I'm not quite sure how to verify that it does. I've tried using the charger with different usb ports/computers but still no luck. My ipod has been going through some pretty cold conditions temperature-wise the last few days.. does that have any affecton the battery maybe? Ahh, at this point I'm just frustrated.. hopefully someone knows how to fix this!

    - Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, cracked or broken plastic.

  • My 5th generation iPod touch is not loading music copied from cd's.  Restore only temporarily works and backup erased them from the iPod (with tech support watching).

I have had my iPod touch for only 3 weeks and it keeps removing the audio files from cd's that I have ripped to my iTunes library whenever I sync it to my computer.  I don't have an issue with purchased material through iTunes just music files from my cd's.
I am frustrated and here is why:
First issue I had was the day it was purchased.  That was fixed with help from tech support. I had to restore it to the factory settings and it downloaded all the music just fine.  However...
A week later I purchased some songs on iTunes and proceeded to sync my iPod to get the new songs on it.  Well, a great purge began of the cd files for the first time.  I had to again restore the iPod to factory settings, go through the whole process of setting up again, and it downloaded all my music. Another week goes by.....
I go to listen to my iPod yesterday at the gym and all the cd files are gone again.  I haven't synced it in a week and I don't have it set to sync over the WiFi.  But, amazingly and miraculously, the 3 songs I purchased appeared on the iPod without syncing at all. Strange, so I go online to chat with support and:
He says to restore the settings.  I told him I was going to have to do it for a 3rd time in 3 weeks for the same issue? So we try doing a backup.
The backup didn't work and he got to watch on my screen the audio files listed as being on my iPod (all songs show but only purchase play mind you) go from the total to just the total of the one's purchased.  I get an "oh my."
I am then told to uninstall iTunes and all related Apple software and that should fix it.  If not I should contact them again.
Well, that didn't work so after work it's again having them attempt to help me "fix" my issue.  This has to be a software issue with iTunes.
This is a ridiculous issue and shouldn't be so hard to fix.
Who can tell me how to fix this properly so I don't have to reset my iPod every few days or week if I buy something?

If still problem try on a another computer to help determine if computer or iPod problem.
The take action accordingly. If iPod then get Apple to exchange it at no cost.

  • HT1476 My 5th generation ipod touch refuses to charge. Help!

My original charger I had was damaged by water so I bought another one but now this one isn't working. I plug it in but my ipod is not displaying that its charging. Should I get another usb charger or get a wall charger?

    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use. Also, some third-party cables do not work or fail after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • 5th Generation iPod Touch will not sync music..

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I haven't been able to sync music to my iPod, but applications will sync. iTunes recognizes the iPod.  I just updated it to iOS 8 today hoping the update had fixed this problem, but it hasn't.  I've also tried unchecking/rechecking the "Sync Music" box; uninstalling iTunes; restarting both my iPod and my computer; using a different cable; restoring from a back up and i just set it up as a new device hoping it'd work that way. Highly disappointed in apple.. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as of now, i have a $300 paper weight.. (I am using Windows 7 and iTunes has been updated to the most current edition)

  • 5th generation iPod Touch speaker is not working with music and apps, but the alarm sound goes off fine. Why?

I have a 5th generation iPod Touch and it got a small amount of water in it around the speaker. When I tried to see if my music would play through it, it couldn't. But, when I tried my alarm to make sure I could still hear it, you could. The sound was fine from the alarm, not as loud as it used to be but I could still hear it. Why doesn't the sound work with my music and apps? Also, would I be able to exchange it if I have a warranty?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Apps on 5th-Generation iPod touch Not Updating

After updating my 5th-generation iPod touch to iOS 8.3, none of my apps will update.  It goes to the point of showing the square inside the circle, and all activity stops after that.  Does anyone know how to resolve this?

If the app has not data yo can try deleting the app and reinstalling
You can also download on computer and sync to the iPod.
Last, backup your iPod and restore from backup

  • My 5th Gen iPod touch does not keep time and the bluetooth will not turn on. Full restore did not fix.

Recently my 5th generation iPod Touch stopped keeping time. As long as the screen stays on, it will stay accurate, but once it "sleeps" the time reverts to the last accurate time it had. If I go to Settings>General>Date&Time> and turn Set Automatically off and on, it will catch up, but just for as long as the screen stays on. Not too friendly for battery life that way. Also, maybe unrelated, the Bluetooth function will not turn on. When I try to turn it on, I just get a constant spinning wheel.
I have tried everything from a simple restart to a full device wipe back to factory default. No change. I took it in to the Genius bar this afternoon. They tried a diagnostic and another wipe. Then they said they didn't know and I could pay $150 to replace it. Not a bad deal, but not what I wanted to hear.
    Any ideas?

    All I can suggest is
Try DFU mode and then restore again to factory settings/new iPod

  • 5th Generation iPod Touch Syncing issues

I recently receive a 5th Generation iPod Touch as a gift and I am having issues with it. I plugged the iPod into my Windows 7 PC with iTunes 11.4.0.18 and had issues from the start. First, my iPod would not even sync any media content from my library. So I messed around with the settings until the content was on my iPod. Once, it was on there I went to play a song that I had downloaded and it immediately skipped the song and kept going to the next available song , so I went back on to the forums to see that it could be a corruption on the backup and all you would have to do is restore your iPod and it would fix your issue. I did that got to the same step and a few songs played but most skipped. The album art is there for most of the songs not the music. I then went to iPod>On this iPod to find that every song I had just sync had an exclamation point error by the song. This is only happening on the On this iPod menu the music plays fine on the music menu without an issue. I am curious of what I am doing wrong here? I also read that it could be a much bigger problem in that I would have to delete all my music and re-install it. If that is the case I will deal with the iPod as is. It is not worth my time to spend hours trying to re-install 15+ GB on my PC again.

Verify that all play in iTunes on the computer.

A profile is used on iOS device to add specific settings and similar things to an iOS device.  Tryically, they are added when the iOS devices is controlled by a company or school.
However, some apps install a profile. If your iPod is not controlled by a company or school then it seems an app added the profile. You can good the title if the profile and see if that gives any info.

  • My 5th generation iPod touch issues

    Hey,
My 5th generation iPod touch is just over a year old. About a month ago I started realising that my battery wasn't lasting as long as it always had. I then realised it was getting really hot, and I have now noticed my front camera isn't working.
I have seeked lots of advice, I began dimming the brightness right down, closing all apps that were not being used, using airplane mode when I could, but still the same problems.
I then reset the iPod and then fully restored it but still no luck.
I live in the Caribbean right now on yachts and so getting to an Apple store is impossible. Is it a hardware issue and in need of being replaced?
If so how much is this going to cost me as it is now 2 months out of warranty?
    Thanks for any advice given
