Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

Step 1

Edit out excessive repeats and personal information, if any.
If the log doesn't go back far enough in time, scroll down in the Console file list to /private/var/log/system.log.0.bz2. Search the archived log, and if necessary the older ones below them, for the same information.
Step 2
Do the same with kernel.log.
Step 3
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the most recent one, if any. For privacy’s sake, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please do not post shutdownStall or hang logs – they're very long and not helpful.

You need to force quit Safari, but hitting Command-option-esc, and force quit Safari.

You may want to try this:
1. Backup iPad
2. Setup iPad as new. Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings
3. Test iPad thoroughly
4. If everything is fine, restore backup to iPad

If your iPad shuts down intermittently, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting - note: the article is for iPhones but this section is relevant to iPads as well.
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.

Report Builder get shut down... without generating any Error Message

Hi Every One,
I am generating the reports in Report Builder 10.1.2.0.2. And the report is based on the view, when I want to generate the PDF, the report builder get shut down without generating any error message. But I can run the report to see live Preview (Paper Design ).
What can be reason that its not generating PDF file format.

I don't think so that .. I have memory problem or some other issue on the hardware side .. bcos I used the same report builder on same machine against the same instance.. to generate the 70K pages PDF file ... but nothing happened ...And this report is fetching only 10 records. during the execution of the report, Report Builder get close. without generating any message. without keeping any processor busy.
I am feeling that report builder try to write in the PDF file format .. but unable to write.. may b some thing is wrong on the privileges side of the VIEW. But I have Select Priv on the view.
When I try to trace the report, I got the message in the trace file that " Report Aborted on user request"

This is free software for system information and it can show/measure the temperature of some of the computer components.
In my opinion your problem looks like overheating issue. When the computer's fan is not working, it overheats (especially if the CPU/HDD are overloaded with some tasks) and stops working (powers down unexpectedly with no messages) to prevent damage. If this is the case, it would be good to monitor the temperature.

How long before it gets shut down?

It seems when someone has an unflattering complaint about Verizon it quickly gets shut down to a "private portal" which is a fancy name for the private chat with some random rep. I've been a customer since the end of July, last month not only was my bill completely screwed up, but the wrong amount was also overdrawn! I was promised things were resolved and again I receive a bill for $25 over the amount I was promised for internet!! I'm working with the BBB, well trying to, it says that my complaint was sent to Verizon and I'm guessing no word back yet.
I'm not wasting 20 minutes in chat or on the phone. I only write with he name of the Rep that I'm told has to fix this, asking her to please call. I actually don't blame her, she's been very apologetic and helpful. Her own coworker that sits next to her didn't pass on a message once. So it's Verizon as a whole that does not work as a team and there is simply too much going on at once for proper customer service. If you want to provide exceptional internet, fix the system. Offer the same prices over the phone as online. Don't lose customers orders. And if you promise a price, HONOR IT WITHOUT A HASSLE!!
And please, don't usher me into a top secret private portal. Be brave, leave it open for comments. I'm not looking to resolve it here. One website has over 1,000 reviews of Verizon and most of them are negative. I'm obviously not alone and something needs to be done about offering top prices but horrendous customer services.

I have been helped many times with the private resolution option. If you don't want to use it, don't. I have gotten very quick resolution to my problems by using it. But, if you don't, my problems will be resolved even quicker.
I have been with Verizon for 5 years, Lenore, and what slows up the help process is really all the people who use these forums to vent their anger. We should give them all a special place to go to do this and the rest of us could use these forums for the purpose intended.
So many very knowledgeable people on these forums have helped me and their help is free. I thank my lucky stars for each and every one of them.

2nd, you already mentioned Virtual XP, so if a direct install doesn't work, that would be the way to go... or, to just do what SHOULD work from the start, just do Virtual XP

Satellite L40 won't shut down with power connected, and won't go in standby

Hi everybody. I hope someone can help me. Basically, there are two problems: one with shutting the laptop (Satellite L40-17U (Vista 32-bit Home Premium SP1) ) down when the power is connected, and one with closing the lid and putting it to sleep.
1. Since a few weeks, it suddenly doesn't want to shut down, whenever the power is connected. When it is on battery, it will shut down. When the power is connected and I try shutting it down, it seems like it shuts down (all activity ceases and the LEDs go off) for about 1 or 2 seconds, and then it goes back on.
2. When I close the lid (all settings in Vista are set to put the laptop in 'sleep' status when the lid is closed) the laptop goes into a state from which it can only be recovered by shutting it down by pressing the on/off button for about 10 seconds to completely shut it down. When closing the lid, only the battery LED keeps blinking orange (the way it should be), but apparently the laptop keeps consuming power, because when I reboot it later (first having to shut it down as described above) the battery tends to be quite a emptier than it was before rebooting it (like going from 100% to 65% in 30 minutes, while being in 'sleep' state). Also, when I open the lid, the other LEDs do go on again (green), but nothing happens.
After rebooting by first pressing the on/off button for 10 seconds to shut it down, I frequently get a message that Windows could not be started, and have to run System Repair.
I've just done a completely clean installation with the product recovery CD (didn't install SP1 yet), upgraded the BIOS to v1.90, but the problem remains.
I'm afraid my only option will be to bring it away for a warranty repair, but knowing that these repairs can take weeks, I'd prefer to try a solution anyone here could recommend me first. If you have any ideas, please let me know.

Never had such issue on my notebook but regarding to another users here in the forum the BIOS might help to solve such strange notebook behavior
To be honest the shut down issue is not known to me I noticed an standby issue on my notebook but the BIOS update helped.
Therefore I recommend updating the BIOS firstly.
If the issue will still appear, then the ASP should take a look into the notebook.
