My 4GB Ipod Mini Doesn't Work

My Ipod Mini stopped working and anytime I try to charge it, the screen displays the Apple logo and then a low battery logo. I tried charging it for more than 12 hours, but the two pictures remain the same.

  • IPod mini doesn't play ANY songs!!! Please Help

My iPod mini doesn't play any songs. It doesn't play purchased music from the iTunes Music Store, ripped CDs, or ANYTHING. On the iPod I go to play a song but the music time counter remains on 0:00. When it does this faint sounds of the song trying to start can be heard, but then a lot of static comes up. A song did start once but it stoped at 7 seconds. I've tried the 5 Rs and everything I can think of! Please Help!

in iTunes on your computer, how do I switch to an Ipod nano from and old ipod that doesn't work any more?  It has all the folders and songs I had on my old ipod, but does not recognize my ipod nano and cannot sync with it?

    Hi bob12345S,
If your iPod nano does not appear in iTunes when connected to your computer, you may want to troubleshoot using the steps on this page -

  • My ipod mini si not working and I can't find the answer.

My ipod mini is not working. I have done all the R things. It won't switch on unless I toggle the hold key, once switched on it asks me to choose a language but pressing the select button does nothing. Can it be saved or should I throw it in a heap with my Dyson vacuum?????????

It's no longer under warranty? Rather than throw it away, there are 3rd party repair site here in the UK (iPod Doctor is one).
Might be worth a try because it seems like a hardware issue rather than software.

  • How do I play my iPod Mini on my work computer using iTunes 7?

I had iTunes 6 on my work computer and I could easily play songs from my iPod Mini while I worked. Then I downloaded iTunes 7. Now I cannot play music from my iPod Mini. iTunes 7 wants me to sync my iPod Mini. But this erases my iPod Mini. Does anyone know how to play music from an iPod on another computer using iTunes 7?

Is your ipod set for "Manually manage music"?
If not, that would explain the problem. Mine is currently set to manually manage music and I'm using it on my work PC with iTunes7
There are however, alternatives to using itunes to playing music from your ipod if you can't get it working...e.g. Pod Player (http://www.ipodsoft.com/site/pmwiki.php?n=podplayer.Homepage)
    Hope that's of some help

  • IPod mini doesn't connect in Windows after doing an Update

    Please help!
I promised to put some music om my friend's iPod (1st generation) from my computer. When I connected it with my computer, i first did a new update. After that the problems began!! After completing the update the ipod showed a picure of an adapter, so i connected the iPod (2 days ago) to the adapter. But now, after reading of the internet about updating a 1st generation iPod, the logo still shows on the screen!! When i disconnect the iPod, it doesn't respond on anything but a reset, but when i reset it, i still get the picture of an adapter on the screen!!
I've tried all the 'solutions' that are written on the Apple website, but they didn't help. And i still can't RESTORE the iPod, because my computer doesn't recognize the iPod anymore AT ALL!!
My own iPod (2e generation) still works on Windows and is recognized everytime, but after the update my friend's iPod just doesn't get recognized on my computer!!
Can somebody please help me to get a solution for this problem?!

  • IPod Mini doesn't appear in iTunes

It seems I'm having a similar problem (but not exact) as some other folks. My iPod Mini (4GB) suddenly stopped showing up on the finder and in iTunes. I checked the support Web Site, and followed the "5 R's". I followed all of the steps, including resetting the iPod, re-installed iTunes and the latest version of iPod Update software, and finally completely restored my iPod to the original settings (thus deleting all of the content on the iPod).
Now, the iPod shows up in the finder, but still doesn't automatically launch iTunes nor show up in iTunes when I launch the application myself. The support section then leads me to believe that I may need to archive and re-install my OS X (10.4) software. I wanted to check here before I took that step to see if anyone had any other ideas, or to see if I was heading down the right path.
For what it's worth, the iPod performs as expected when I hook it into my iMac, so I don't think there's anything wrong with the iPod itself. Finally, my Powerbook (1 GHz) and iMac (G4, 1 GHz) are both running OS X (10.4.3).
Any help or advice that any of you might have would be greatly appreciated. I hope all of you have a great New Year!

This is a little creepy. My daughter's iPod Mini is doing the same thing. We bought it for her a year ago, Christmas. Not only does it not appear, but when I tried to "Restore" it, I get an error message "No iPod Attached". We've had to shut down the iMac to disconnect it (just to be on the cautious side). Is there any way of saving songs before restoring? Thanks!

  • IPod Stuff doesn't work with my new iPhone

I finally sprung for the iPhone three weeks ago and I love it. But I think I'm going to have to buy more new stuff. Neither set of my portable speakers that I use with my iPod (5th gen. video) work with the iPhone. When I put the iPhone in the dock, I get some message about Airplane Mode. Music does play through the speakers, but they won't charge the iPhone. When I put the iPhone on its own charger and tried to use the auxiliary input on the speakers, there was only silence.
Do I need a special cable or something?
Also, my car charger for the iPod doesn't work with the iPhone.
Am I going to have to spring for another set of portable speakers? I've read that the Pure-Fi is compatible with iPhone.
    Thanks!

Both my mini and my video iPod were USB -- not Firewire.
Both your Mini and your iPod with video synced via USB and charged via USB when connected to your Mac, but they also support charging via Firewire and most of the older 3rd party devices charged iPods via Firewire - your iPods include firewire pins in the connector for charging via firewire.
The first generation iPhone also syncs and charges via USB when connected to a computer, and the first generation iPhone also includes firewire pins for charging via firewire also, as your iPods include. The first generation iPhone does not support syncing via Firewire, but it does support charging via Firewire.
Apple removed the firepins from the iPhone 3G connector as they have done with all new iPods released after a certain date and for all new iPods to be released in the future. 3rd party device manufacturers were made aware of this so all new 3rd party devices must support charging via USB only or include charging via USB in addition to charging via Firewire if a new device is to be backwards compatible with older iPods.

  • Help! my ipod mini doesn't respond AT ALL

when i plug it in, it doesn't do anything. when it's plugged in, i tried resetting it, and it says "do not disconnect" for about 5 seconds and goes back to the menu. i've tried different usb ports and it's just not working.. any help please?

    Hi,
I think I found the answer...I had the same problem, and now my ipod mini works again.
How did you reset your ipod? did you just go the menu>settings>reset?...i tried that..and it didnt work.
I found another way of resetting. On your ipod, hold down "Menu" and the centre (select) button for a couple seconds until the apple logo appears. After that, connect the ipod to the computer again. Hopefully this works for you!

  • My iPod Nano doesn't work as it should...

I have just got my new iPod Nano. It's the 2gb model from the second generation. I was extremely happy, because it looks awesome and I thought that it would work same way.
The player is working perfect. Plays songs, really awesome.
But I have really BIG problems with iTunes. As I said I have got iPod today and everything is new and up-to-date - iTunes and I even somehow managed to update my iPod. Why somehow? I have extremely big problems with updating it. I think that it works okay now, but not at all. Everything is okay when I use an automatic system. I copy music I want to library, conect iPod then and everything copies perfect. The problems are starting when I try to manage iPod on my own - copy music etc. This simply doesn't work! When I try to change the system on non-automatic the error (-50) occurres and iPod cannot be updated. I even can't do this simple thing so there are no talks about deleting or copying music to iPod.
What can I do? That's simply driving me crazy :/
PS. Sorry for my English, but I'm from Poland. I don't know if the apple service exists here at all...

And I have one more question, when I connect my iPod,
iTunes turns on automatically and the iPod is seen,
but it's not seen in "My Computer". Is that ok?
Since you have the iPod set at auto sync the ipod would not show in "My Computer" (someone correct me if I am wrong). If you were able to successfully switch it to manual it would show as it would be in disk mode. So I would say that this is ok.
I have done a search for the error -50 you keep getting and can't find anything. At this point I would suggest contacting Apple support to see if they can give you some insight on this error. One thing though...have you tried uninstalling iTunes from your computer completely and then re-installing it to make sure it's not an issue with your current copy of iTunes? Also, have you tried to go through the 5 R's?
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
If you have not gone through the 5 R's, please try that first and see if it helps. If not, then try un-installing and then re-installing iTunes. If that does not work, then it would probably be beneficial to call Apple Support.
