My 4s was stolen. how to disable it via IMEI

my iphone 4s was stolen and i changed all my information in the device
is there anything else that i can do to keep my information safe from the thief? and how to disable the device.
i heard can disable the device via IMEI by calling the service company but i called and they said they cant do anything.
is there anyway to block and disable my stolen 4S so they cant use my device?
need comments. Please.

i already changed them a moment ago. what a great loss i bought it while it released. lesson learnt. but its way too late.
luckily i used another sim card as in i travelled to other country. so im not using the sim card with the data plan.
i stay in Singapore. can singapore's carrier company disable the phone??

    The only way to locate/disable/erase any lost/stolen iPhone is through Find My Phone or a similar app. However, this requires that Find My Phone be setup/activated, on your phone, before it was lost/stolen. You would then login at iCloud.com & try to locate it. This requires the phone be turned on & have an Internet connection. There is no other way to locate a lost/stolen iPhone. Apple can't/won't help you, nor will your carrier. Report the loss to the Police, your carrier & Insurance company. Change all of your passwords.

    You can't. If you had set up MobileMe / Find My iPad on it before it was stolen then you could try locating it either via me.com on a computer or Find My iPhone / Find My iPad on a another device - but that will only work if it's connected to a network and the device hasn't already been wiped and/or MobileMe disabled on it.
    Apart from that you should report it to the police, and as a safety precaution you should also change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc.

    Not sure what you mean by "deactivate" but if you used Lost Mode your iPhone will be immediately locked, disabled, and effectively made useless to anyone lacking your Apple ID and password.

    If you have an iCloud account, change your AppleID and iCloud passwords immediately.  That will keep a thief from connecting and deleting your iCloud backups.  When you get a new iPhone, if from an Apple store, the genius bar staff can download the information you have in iCloud and restore it to your new iPhone.

    The serial number will be located in the box the device came in.
    However, having the serial number will not help you lock it.
    The only way to lock it would have been if you set up Find My iPad on iCloud.com and the iPad.
    you could then go to iCloud.com and lock it from the "Find my iPhone" section of the website.

    Can only be done if your carrier offers blacklisting. Some do, some don't. So, report the loss to your carrier. If your carrier does not offer blacklisting, the phone can be restored & reactivated.
    Apple does not maintain a database of lost/stolen Apple products & will not help you in anyway to locate your phone or block it.

    If you setup the Find My iPhone app, (This works with iPad too) with iCloud, then all you would need to do is log in to iCloud.com and it should find it.
    I think that if they have reset the device it might not show up on the map. If this is the case, contact Apple support and they might be able to help you.
