My 4th Gen iPod can't be recognized and Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is not there. What can I do?

I believe I recently got water in my charging dock and I couldn't charge my iPod Touch 4th Gen. I got the "Charging is not supported with this device" message whenever I plugged in my iPod. Me, not know what to do messed around and got everything out of order. I reinstalled everything, restarted the device manager applications and still nothing. I was wondering if I could do anything before I try and just go to an Apple Store for support. Literally everytime I plug my iPod in, it feels as if i plugged in nothing. Nothing is recognized. What can I do?

Start here and do not use the dock.  Just use a cable between the iPod and the USB port on the computer.

I use Windows 8.1 and so now also ITunes 12, both my Iphone 4S and Ipad Air have the latest IOS version.
I hope anybody can tell me how to solve this that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is back, thank you

Found a possible solution for me.
While the phone was plugged into my computer and iTunes is CLOSED.
    1. I went to Services in Windows.
    2. I selected Apple Mobile Device and right clicked and selected "Stop".
    3. Then I right-clicked again and selected "Start".
    4. Then I went to Device Manager and right clicked my iPhone with the yellow alert icon and selected "Uninstall".  You will get a warning about uninstalling the device.  Click OK.
    5.  At the top of Device Manager I clicked the Action menu and selected "Scan for Hardware Changes".
This re-installed the iPhone and everything started working again.

  • IPod touch 5th gen will not connect to iTunes, also apple mobile device usb driver does not appear in device manager. PLEASE HELP.

I recently purchased my iPod touch with no issues. After updating to iOS 8.1.1 I found that my iPod would no longer appear in the latest version of iTunes and when I searched for Apple Mobile Device usb driver in the device manager, it was nowhere to be found. I've already uninstalled and re-installed ALL components of iTunes and read every single help article. I've tried everything. What went wrong?

  • Apple mobile device USB Driver won't install (Code 37) on my 7th Generation iPod Nano

As a result, iTunes won't detect my iPod. But the iPod will charge when I plug it in to my comp, and there is an iPod folder in "My Computer". But after installing iTunes, it no longer says “connected” on the iPod (even though it still charges it). And, in Device manager, there is a yellow exclamation mark that appears in the DVD/CD-ROM drive directly after installing iTunes – there is also a yellow mark next to “Apple mobile device USB Driver” when my iPod is plugged in. For both, it says “Code 37.” I know how to fix the DVD/CD-ROM drive problem (by deleting the filters) but the Apple driver still won't install after that. I've tried troubling shooting this. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, but it hasn't made a difference. And I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes multiple times, too, and every time I reinstall iTunes the same thing happens: my iPod no longer says “connected on the screen,” and the  DVD/CD-ROM drive gets code 37 again. Also, I tried different USB cables/ports.
Any help of suggestions would be greatly appreciated. And I think I've already read a lot of troubleshooting guides on this site, but haven't had any success so far.

Sorry, I'm confused. What do you mean by “leaving all other USB devices disconnected”? Does that include my mouse, keyboard, etc? And does that mean I uninstall those things in the device manager?

  • I know that my Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is missing. It won´t reinstall or update the software. Where can I get the software so I can synch my Ipod nano again?

I don´t know where to look for the software to get the driver going again, so please help if you´ve got any solutions to my problem. I´ve spent hours and hours looking in the internet but i couldnt find anything helpful. PLEASE HELP
PS: I´ve got a Windows 7 PC so the guy from the Apple Store refused to help me

You need to completely uninstall iTunes from your computer and then download and install it again.
You do know that Microsoft has a web site, right?

  • I'm missing the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver.. iPhone isn't recognized in iTunes?

I have tried re-installing itunes, restarting computer/ phone, disabling security software, different USB cords, etc.. I followed a page on apple (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538) and concluded I am missing the driver but none of the suggestions have fixed the problem.

  • How can I download the apple mobile device usb driver?

Mine is missing.  I have followed the steps here : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
The device driver is missing.  I tried removing all things apple from my computer and reinstalling itunes to no avail.  Neither my computer nor itunes recognize either my iphone 4s or my ipad.  It isn't my usb ports as I have two and they are working with other devices.  It isn't the cables as my iphone and ipad have two different cables.  I can't seem to find info that addresses the driver specifically as this seems to be the problem.  I also tried another suggestion where I made sure the usb ports weren't in power saver mode.  Any suggestions?  I really appreciate your help.
