My 4th generation iPod Touch randomly deleted a bunch of my notes. How do I get them back?
Sometimes my notes just randomly disappear--how to I get them back and/or avoid this?
You can try restoring from backup.
A few other have reported the same but I have not seen a solution

I have two accounts with itunes, my first one i had a ton of music i downloaded to and now i've lost my password to my yahoo account and its been long enough now they have deleted and recycled my email account, how can i get them back on my account i'm no
You are going to need to change the email address you use with your old ID. Once you have got access to your old account you will then log into both accounts at the same time on your Mac and transfer your data to a single account. We can do this later, but need you to get access to your old account first.

Ever since I started using iCloud, all the older events in my calendar have disappeared. I need to get them back, and keep them in my calendar on my iPhone. How do I get them back and change the settings so that I keep all my calendar events?
Thanks! Thanks to AKRBTN for this reply to a previous poster. I had a similar question (not that iPhone was deleting past events, but that it just wasn't synching past events). I called APPLCARE; the rep said since my phone is out of warranty, I could either pay $20 to get help from her or go online. Easy choice to check the Apple community. Nice to find where the setting is.

I just lost all the notes I'd kept on the notepad of my iPod Touch. Any help would be appreciated!!

Today I completed a software update for my iPhone 5 without backing it up because I did not receive a warning that all my data would be erased and so, did not realize it would be an issue. Upon completing the update, I realized my mistake but figured it was too late to revert the damage and continued with the restoration of my phone to its factory settings.
After completing the update, I realized just how much data was lost (including important notes with financial information and images and videos of recent trips around Europe). Now I am desperate to try to recover the data deleted in the update. Is there any chance at all that I can recover something? The notes and videos are most important to me. I am also missing many Messages but that is less important to me.
Can anyone please help?
Any response is greatly appreciated!
Here's the official article from Apple on how to update your iOS.
Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support
Before you update
Back up your device to iCloud or iTunes.
That's virtually the very first thing it says to do.
There's no excuse to not have your data backed up prior to updating. Tell me, what would you have done if, instead of this being an issue where you updated your iOS and had an error, if instead you had dropped your iPhone and it was damaged beyond repair, or if it was stolen or lost, etcetera.
Perhaps you'd been backing up to iCloud and didn't realize it? Maybe the missing Notes data is linked to a Mail account? You might be able to reconstruct the data, but it's going to be an uphill battle.
Best of luck. Make sure to backup more frequently in the future. There are two types of people in the world; those who have lost data, and those that will lose data. The only difference is how prepared you are for that event. -
I have an iPod touch 4th generation with the latest version of iOS available (6.1.6). And recently my iPod has become unable to receive photos and videos on iMessage from other iMessage users, it will receive text messages in iMessage however. I was wondering what has caused this problem only occuring recently.

Hello there!
This vacation I made pictures with my iPod touch (back-camera) but somehow the pixels I get on the pictures when I sync with my MacBook Pro are 480 x 640?! How can I up this resolution (either on the camera, or on the already taken pictures)? It should be higher, right?
Thank you in advance for your reply!
Pieter KroonEhmm... okay, after reviewing I understand what is going on. Some of the pictures are taken by the front facing camera and the back-facing camera is just not very good... It seems everything is good I am sorry for asking this stupid question, I should've investigated things further.
Anyway, thank you very much for your reply. -
My 4th generation ipod touch is in recovery mode and will not restore
Everytime i try to restore my ipod it loads until there is a little bit left to load and then shuts off and itunes says that there is an unknown error (9) and can not restore. Does anyone know what that means and/or what i can do?
Hi @rchangel - Thanks for the ideas...
Yes - it won't let you install the 32 bit version on a 64 bit machine.
I've had a cursory look at the SP1 release notes, and couldn't spot anything vital - what critical stuff do you know of in SP1?
I don't want to have to go through all the pain of setting up VM's, reinstalling iTunes, getting all my album art back in etc. (though I could, as I do have Win7 pro). I've also heard that running iTunes in Windows 7 compatibility mode might help. Can anyone confirm whether that actually works?
I think it's in Apple's gift to fix this issue, given that they say that they support Windows 7. So far I've had no feedback from a mail I sent to Apple, and the number of users reporting this problem keeps going up and up.
I want Apple to recognise that there is a problem, and then I want them to fix it. -
hiu i have an ipod which shares same itunes/icloud account as my iphone. i deleted the contacts off ipod and they have now gone off my phone too. anyone help, how can iget these back on my phone?
When you share an iCloud account between devices, any action you take on one device (such as deleting contacts) is synced to the others. (That's want iCloud does; syncs data across devices, keeping the data on the devices the same.)
The only way to recover them now is to try restoring your device to your last backup, or restore them from another backup source. -
I accidentally deleted my quicken files today. how do i get them back?
I accidentally deleted quicken today!
Is there a way i can recover the files?
all my financial data was in itDid you delete all of Quicken - the whole folder? Or just the application?
Edit: Did you empty your trash? Do not use the computer for new entries or you may write over your deleted file spaces.
Meanwhile up in the right corner search area , enter: "retrieve deleted files". Lots of help there. -
I've deleted all my applications... how do I get them back?
Well, after an overnight red-eye, a long day then an early start I managed to do something weird to my Pearl. Basically all my applications have gone... when I press the applications button I get a blank screen, all the applications down the lefthand side (on Zen) are blank.
I can see my mail if I press the camera hotkey and then do switch application (all my mail is still there), I can make calls by typing the name/number of who I need to call.
It's just all my applications have disappeared!!!
Anybody know how I restore my unit... i've tried hard reset, loading the latest software but it's getting me no where.
Really appreciate any assistance possible.I would first recommend another powered-on, battery pull reboot.
When you do, if the homscreen does not return, go to Options > Themes, and try changing themes, and see if you get your applications icons back.
You can also switch applications by simply pressing ALT + ESCAPE (the key right of the trackball).

I lost it when I reinstalled Firefox, but I was already using the latest version. I think I must have installed an add-on or a plug-in, but I can;t seem to find whatever it was that I had installed.
Hi polarman,
Thank you for you question. This information is stored in the Profile Folder. However since you reinstalled Firefox I do not know if that information is still in that Folder.
The add on [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/open-profile-folder/ Open Profile Folder] can be installed to open the folder that should have that information. If it is there[[Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles]] may be useful to you.
If you have a back up of that Folder from before you reinstalled you can import stuff from an old folder: [[Recovering important data from an old profile]]
If it is not there, it is pretty easy to rebuild the profile. Go to Tools > Add ons and search for the features you had there before.
If you have any other questions please start a new thread :-) -
i just updated my ipod and now all of my songs are gone. how do i get them back?
You can get iTunes purchases back by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
For other items you need to get them from whee yuo got them the first time.
The iPod backup that iTunes makes does not include synced mediai like apps and music. If those ore not in the iTunes library on the computer on which you performed the update they are lost. -

i deleted notes fom my old iphone and surprised to see that they have been deleted from my new phone ..how can i get them back ...i dont have any backup??
Why would you be surprised? You were syncing your Notes with iCloud or a Mail Account. Synchronization means when you make a change on one device, it affects all other devices that are synched for the same purpose. Like when you delete an email (usually) it also disappears from your other devices as well. -
I have given my 4th generation ipod touch to my husband and he wants to download some in app purchases, so I am trying to reset it via itunes. I dont remember setting parental controls but I must have at some point, maybe when I lent it to the kids. But I cannot remember the password and nothing I have tried works. So I have backed the ipod up and am trying to reset it but after speding 10 minutes doing a download I get a message that says:
"The softwaar for the iPod was corrupted during download. Disconnect and reconnect, then try again. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later"
I have tried many times. All the settings are correct, and the network seems to be working fine in all respects.
Any advice very much appreciated.
Thank you
UPDATE - decided to try one more time after trying for hours and it has worked! I now suspect it may have been because my son was playing an online game. Though we have plenty of bandwidth. But in case, I guess it could be a bandwidth problem.A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (or if you forgot your passcode)
iTunes 10 for Mac- Update and restore software on iPod, iPhone, or iPad
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
iOS- Understanding passcodes
If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
If you need to restore your device or if you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to
update.
2. Connect your device to your computer.
3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
4. Select the Summary tab.
5. Select the Restore option.
6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
necessary to create another.
7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
you see "iPhone is activated."
9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup.
If you can not restore your device then you will need to go to recovery mode.
Placing your device into recovery mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the other end
of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the
red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake
and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake
and Home buttons.
3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device.
The device should turn on. Note: If you see the screen pictured below, let the device
charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then
start with step 2 again.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
Additional Information:
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.
