Try this. Open one of your files. The window that contains your picture is named at the top. Command click on the name and you'll see the entire path starting with its name and then moving to the folder, the folder it is contained in, etc all the way to down to the hard drive volume name. This should tell you where to find the folder.

MAC Book Pro DVI-VGA stopped working

So I purchased a DVI to VGA converter to plug my MAC Book Pro in to a LCD TV. It worked great for the first week, then suddenly stopped working. It seems to not detect the adapter. When first plugged in the screen on my MAC goes blue, then back to my normal screen display. I even tried with my girl friends 13" MAC book pro to get the same results. Any suggestions? I've tried the detect displays option to get nothing. Thanks

Since I updated my macbookair(late 2009) from 10.6.4 to 10.6.5, this problem occurs, and now it is 10.6.6 the problem remains. Every time I go to stage I need to keep my air dead, plug in the mini-DVI to VGA, and start my air, to get it works, but sometimes even this solution fails. When I click the detect display button, turns blue and nothing happens. really dont know why.
in 10.6.4 everything works fine!!!!!

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. My mac book pro suddendly became really slow, and I don't know why. What can I do?

A few days ago, my MPB started to be really slow. Everything takes time, I cannot use several applications at the same time anymore, or nothing works.
I tried cleaning the disk and I deleted all useless applications. I have 422Go/499Go of free storage memory, and nothing seems wrong in the activity monitor.
What else can I do?

How did you try 'cleaning' your disk? Did you use Disk Utility>First Aid and Verify and Repair the HDD?

I have had my mac-book pro for almost a year, and have just got OSX Mavericks, and now the sound on my laptop is working in a sporadic way, can I change this at all on system preferences or will I have to get it repaired?

On my mac-book pro the sound isnt working after I have installed OSX Mavericks, should I take it to be repaired, or can I do something on System Preferences?

In addition to checking system preferences/sound/output and selecting built in if that does not work, make sure volume is up and mute not checked.
You can try the following, Take a set of headphones and plug theim in and out several times (there is a micro switch that sometimes gets stuck)
Go to applications>utilities>Audio MIDI set up, see if you can select built in there, make sure volume is uo mute not checked.
Try a NVRAM/PRAM reset:
Power off, power back on holding the following keys OPTION + COMMAND + P + R
Continue to hold these keys till you hear the start chime 2 times, then release,reboot

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.

I to use iphoto library manager to save corrupted iphoto and each time it saves some and the first time it brings up iphoto, iphone goes into "not responding" mode. Using mac book pro, iphoto 9.5.1, and maverick 10.9.2.

I've had issues with my iPhoto "not responding" and as a result I am attempting to save my photos to an external hard drive using iPhoto library Manager but each time I start the program it saves some, and then when it starts iPhoto, iPhoto then goes into not responding mode. Using mac book pro, iphoto 9.5.1, and maverick 10.9.2. I have completed all of the photo library first aid steps several times, but it makes no difference, iphoto eventually goes to "not responding." Initial issues started with Time Machine back ups stopping because of iphoto. Thanks......

Do you have a back up?
If you're just trying to recover the photos you can do that much more simply:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Originals' or 'Masters'. (varies according to the version of iPhoto)
Your photos are inside - these are the originals as imported from your camera.

A PowerPC Mac, if that's what it is, won't be able to see an Intel Mac's formatted data. Also ExFat formatting is not supported by 10.6.3 or earlier. I would try viewing the backup on another Intel Mac with at least 10.6.4. If it isn't there, then the backup never really took place. I much profer a hard drive with Carbon Copy Cloner.

Apple keep telling me I need to update to icloud but I'm not sure if Lion will work on my Mac. I've upgraded to snow leopard which seems to have knackered my .me or .mac account (whatever it's called now), so I don't seem to have any option but to upgrade to Lion if I every want to see my emails again.

If you have a Core Duo model then you cannot upgrade to Lion. You can upgrade to Snow Leopard, but iCloud is not available for Snow Leopard.
Open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. Look for the Model ID in the displayed information. If you have a MacBookPro 2,1 or later then you have a Core 2 Duo model and can upgrade to Lion.
