 Hi ,
First of all ,
1.uninstall the  printer and scanner  from your PC.
2. Now  restart the PC .
3. Install the  full printer  software driver  now.
4. wait till the  full initialization conpletes
5. After the installation  completes,  restart the PC.
6. restart the  printer  too.
You should be able to scan and print now.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 plus wont scan

I have a MacBook Pro and the printing is working fine but it wont scan at all. I'm not on a network. I am in my home office with my laptop connected directly to the officejet pro. Help!

    Welcome to the forums kmcgee
I saw your post about how you are unable to scan from your Officejet 8600 to your MacBook. I would first suggest that you check to make sure you can make copies from the printer itself to ensure the printer hardware is okay!
    Next, try these steps:
Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
    Repair disk permissions
    Restart the computer
Re-add the printer (do not use the Airprint driver)
Now test scan again and hopefully it will work for you!
If there is still an issue, reply with which Mac OS X you are running please!
    Have a great day!

    Hi Newbie111
I see that you are unable to scan with the Photosmart 1315.
    What driver are you using?
The driver listed in the url below is a basic print driver that will allow you to print only.

Hello pf1tarac, I don't believe that is possible. In order to create a PDF file, you would need Adobe Acrobat or some other PDF compatible product to save a scan to the PDF format.
There are some free PDF programs available.  Here  is a link to one of them.

  • HT204135 Help! My printer still wont scan

I have just installed an HP laser jet printer  with my imac, and even though i have updated the apple printer software it still wont scan.  There is no icon in the driver window, and preview and image capture do not work either.
    Can anyone suggest anything please?
    thanks

To scan with Image Capture / Preview you would need to have an ICA scanner driver installed on the Mac. If you refer to this Apple KB article about drivers that are available, is your model of HP in the list and is there an S in the Scan column?
If not, then check with HP for a scanner driver and possibly a supporting scanner application.

  • Help Needed for scanner wont scan properly.

I have an HP Deskjet 3055A that has all of a sudden started acting up and wont scan things properly anymore.. No matter what I scan everything comes out as the same vertical coloured bars and I don't know what to do about it hence the reason I'm here in the hope someone can shed some light on my predicament.

Yep, same here.  My scanning was out of order for a long time, I put notices on here about it.  Then I had a message that there was a new icon to fix it, and I clicked on that and it worked.  BUT waste of time, and product not doing what it says on the tin.

I am happy to help!  To verify the printer's hardware is functioning properly, are you able to make copies from the scanner glass? Copying Documents. in the meantime, please try the steps in this scanning guide, A 'Computer Not Found' or 'Connection Error' Message Displays for HP Deskjet 3520 e-All-in-One Printer Series. • Officejet 7410xi scans only fully black

my officejet 7410xi scans and copies only fully black. The light comes on and passes under the original but I only get a full black page for scans and copies. There must be a problem with the electric eye that reads the original.

The document here might help resolve issues with your Officejet 7410 scanning and copying only in black.

  • Officejet 4630 scanning to Chromebook

    Hi
I have just bought a Officejet 4630, primarily to use with my (Toshiba) Chromebook
However, when I want to scan documents to my Chromebook it asks if the software is loaded on to the Chromebook but I don't know how to load it on?
Also, how would I load scanning software to my Android tablet (running Lollipop) and Tablet (running KitKat)?
    This question was solved.

    Hi @ UpperSydenham
    Welcome to the HP Forum,
So I understand you are having an issue with scanning and the software required. The first obstacle is with software.
Unfortunately software can not be installed on the Chrome operating system and the same can be said about Android devices. I'm sorry this answer seems bleak, but all is not lost.
I would like to address the android devices first.
Yes, they cannot install software but they can install apps (yeay)
HP has created the All-in-One Printer Remote for the android devices. It is Free and can be found in the Google Playstore on both you devices. (Android version 4.0 and higher)
You still wont be able to scan from the front panel of your 4630, but load the document in the feeder, or place it on the glass as if your were going to scan that way. once the document is in place open the All-in-One printer remote app.
The first time you do this you may have to select your printer. Once that is done you will see several options, and the one that will save the day is scan. Touch this and it will scan the document to your tablet. make any adjustments as needed then save the document or picture.  If you encounter any "hiccups" with this please let me know.
    Now for the chrome book.
Bottom line:  Chromebooks do not support drivers and the printers were not originally designed to work with that particular OS. There is Webscan. Webscan may have unpredictable results, as it wasn't designed with the Chromebooks in mind. Scanning from the chromebook isn't supported.
The following steps work on a MAC or a PC and may not work with the Chromebook, but it is worth a try.
    1. Touch the wireless icon on the printer and take note of the IP address.
    2. Open a new browser on the chromebook
    3. In the address bar type the printers ip address and press enter (return,go, ect...)
If all goes as planed you will reach the printers EWS (embedded web server). If you do not Please let me know we may have to go through some basic network trouble shooting.
    4. Once in the EWS you will be on the Home tab, you will notice others. Click on the tab labelled Scan
    This is the Webscan.
If you get a message about it being disabled, click or touch the Settings tab.
now touch Security (column on the left) Please do not get tempted with the section that says password
I have encountered nothing but pain an misery when a password is added to the printer.
Then touch Administrator Settings, you will now see to the left a little box to check so that webscan can be enabled.
Check the box and click Apply.
    5. Adjust settings and click or touch scan at the bottom of the page. Once you see the image on the right, save it. (This is the part that sometimes does not work well on the Chrome OS)
What I would do, is use the AIO (All-in-One Printer Remote). It has the capability to share the scanned item. The one i am suggesting is your email. once the Item is in your email you can easily access it from the Chromebook.
If you have any questions, issues, or difficulties, please feel free to contact me.

  • HP Officejet 6700 - scanning problem, "device is busy. please try again later"

I am using a windows laptop (Lenovo Yoga II). I have an HP Officejet 6700 printer/ scanner. The printing functions seem to work fine but the scanning function is now not working at all (worked previously).
When I use the HP Scan and Capture app is comes up with a message "Device is busy. Please try again later". I have installed the full software and also run the HP Print and Scan Doctor and it fails the driver check even after a full restart of both printer and laptop.
I have tried everything wirelessly and also connecting the laptop to the printer via USB and nothing seems to work.
When I try to scan direct from the printer/ scanner to the computer (ie. using the panel on the front of the printer) it recognises the computer but doesn't scan and suggests that the "scan application on the computer is currently in use".
I have McAfee LiveSafe running and also tried switching that off but didn't seem to make any difference.
Any ideas welcome. I really need to scan some things today and this is very frustrating.

  • Decent Mac OS 10.9 HP Officejet J6400 scanning software

Up until Mountain Lion or Mavericks I used to use a nice scanning utility from HP called HP scan that added to the OS X built in capabilities for my OfficeJet device.  That software is not compatible with Mavericks and the scanning interface provided by Mac OS is just awful.
Does anyone know of simple scanning software that will work with the HP OfficeJet J6400 series and Mac OS 10.9?
I have to scan a lot of receipts for work and loved the control and multi-file support of HP Scan.

Thanks for the info.  I've started using Image Capture and it is working good enough.  I haven't been able to find a suitable HP Scan download and for my purposes I'm not going to pay for the VueScan software (although I'll keep it in mind in case my needs change).
Image Capture gives me the basic control I was looking for, just have to get used to the different interface than what HP Scan had.
I guess they call this progress.

  • HP Officejet 5740 Scan Noise

My brand-new HP Officejet 5740 (which has the latest firmware) seems rather grumbly/rumbly when it scans.  It's not very smooth-sounding.  Copying, however, has a less loud grumbly/rumbly sound.
5740 owners/users/HP employees: I know sound is subjective, but is this normal?  I don't scan that often and could get used to the sound if that is a "normal" sound, but if it is an indicator of something being wrong...
(Note: I have also recently been using a HP Officejet 6830, and it is much quieter/smoother-sounding when scanning.)

    Hey @HPPrinterUser10,
Thanks for posting in the HP Support Forum.
I understand that you're finding your HP Officejet 5740 e-All-in-One Printer to be loud when it scans.  I would like to assist you with this.
Is your printer situated on a flat, stable, 'wobble-free' table or desk?  Sometimes printer location can contribute to the overall audio output of regular printer functions.
I do have access to both of the printers you're referring to and was able to test scan from each.  The sound quality and volume output seemed pretty close between the two units.  If I am interpreting the 'Acoustics' specifications presented in each model's datasheet correctly, the 5740 is rated to be slightly louder.  Click here and here for reference.
In your setup, I would only be concerned if the printer's emitting a squealing sound or grinding sound, as this would indicate a potential hardware issue.
So, to answer your question more directly, I wouldn't be overly concerned about the sound of your 5740 scanning unless it intensifies or if it's concurrent with a decrease in functionality.
I hope this helps.  Let me know if you have any further questions or run into any issues - I'm always happy to assist.
    Have a great day!
