My 5D Mark III needs Lightroom 4 from Cloud

I am a Creative Cloud subscriber. I have a 5D Mark III which generates RAW files that cannot be read by my current Lightroom 3. Would someone please expedite inclusion of Lightroom into Creative Cloud so I can get back to work?

Can you not just use Adobe DNG Converter and/or Camera RAW to convert your RAW files to DNG's so that you can use them with LR3?
Also, have you considered just using the trial for a few weeks as others have done to get you by? There is definitely options available to keep working.

  • Problem with S-raw from 1Ds mark III and Lightroom 2.5 (ACR 5.5)

    Hello,
We develop over 100000 Raws per day using Lightroom 2.5 and a Canon 1 ds mark III. For the past six months we have been using the S-raw format for compatibility with our program Workflow. We’ve been having stability problems linked to luminosity, particularly differences in yellows, reds, oranges, and beiges.
This artefact lightens the whole of the image, which gives us several light densities within the same image series.
We’ve done several tests with photos shot in S-raw and JPEG simultaneously. The problem does not appear in the JPEGs, or in JPEGs generated by the S-raw format.
This is why we have concluded that the problem comes from Lightroom’s calculation algorithm for S-raw. This hypothesis is confirmed as the problem is only in Lightroom 2.5 (we’ve tested 5 competing programmes and have not had the same problem).
    Ciao.

Problems with Lightroom should be posted in the Lightroom forum.
If you are having similar problems with some version of ACR, check the FAQ (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/311515?tstart=0) and provide more details, samples, etc... in a later post.

  • Canon 5d Mark III and Lightroom 4.3 tethered shooting issues.

I bought a new Canon 5d Mark III and upgraded my lightroom to 4.3.  I have been having issues shooting tehtered.  I'll shoot and get some frames coming in and when I start plugging away the program bar will spin and I'll only get a few grey frames and it just kind of freezes.  I don't know what to do.

LR4.3 was supposed to improve Lightroom's built-in tethering, but in my experience it still has some reliability problems - especialy in recovering from broken connections (not just unplugging USB but also if the camera loses power by sleeping or when changing a memory card).
Sorry if some of this is basic info, but I'd recommend you try a different USB cable - the cable end that connects to the camera is easilly damaged in a way that makes a connection possible, but unstable (I strongly recommend finding a cable with a 90 degree downward bend at the camera plug). Also, we often have to send a camera body in to have the USB port serviced. Canon has begun to provide a small rubber boot to reinforce the USB connection at the port, but they won't sell the part outside of a repair service. Be sure to use some kind of stress-relief for the cable at the camera. Tethertools sells one, but I've made mine DIY with a little string and a small binder clip... nearly free. Finally, be sure your cable is less than about 15 feet. If you need to go longer, I've successfully tethered with two cheap powered repeaters from Monoprice, but no single link should be over 15 feet.
Oh yeah, also set your camera to not sleep for a long time.
Beyond all that, is using EOS Utility for capture and LR Auto-import a viable option for you? It works very well for me. I use the Apple "Image Capture" app to tell my system to launch EOS Utility whenever the camera is connected - and set EOS Utility to launch into remote capture/camera control mode. It's very stable and recovers from disconnects or camera power loss and the remote camera control/live view can be pretty handy.
Another plus is that if you do need to disconnect USB and shoot to card, you can just copy new images from the card to your watched folder and they are imported to Lightroom with the same settings and location.
The only downsides for me is that there is no way to have a crop apply to new images using auto import -- and I have to re-save my develop preset each time I make a change. Using the "Same as Previous" option under develop settings in native tethering is so great for this and I'd love to see a similar option added to auto import.
    Hope this helps.

  • Canon 5D Mark iii and Lightroom 3

I recently got a Canon 5D Mark iii. I have Lightroom 3.0 and I cannot open the images in Lightroom.  Do I have to upgrade to Lightroom 4.1?

Yes, but you will find it easier to upgrade to Lightroom 5. That is the current version. Your other alternative would be to download the DNG converter and convert your raw files to DNG. The choice is yours.

  • Photographer only needs photoshop from cloud. Why pay for other apps as well ?

Is it possible to get and pay for only one app in creative cloud ? It doesn't seem to be a smart idea for people like me that are photographers and NOT graphic designers , etc. I only need photoshop. Why pay the price for 25 other apps of I will never use them nor have any interest in opening anything EXCEPT photoshop??

Even if you will use just PS, you need Bridge at some point for managing images ... and Bridge is now separate in CC.
I think that Adobe wants to use the popularity of PS for other applications (especially for some web applications according to me) ... and creates an illusion by pricing policy for forcing customers to subscribe for all.
Subscriber number may be a success for now, but Adobe hurted the loyalty of some customers who use PS for a long time ...
And, I think that Adobe created a huge number of customers who will escape from Adobe at the first occasion.
In my thoughts, CC model was a great oppurtunity for making new loyal customers in addition to the present ones ... but Adobe choosen the other way.
Adobe may right for now, but the customers are always right in the long run.

  • Lightroom 4.2 will not import from Canon 5D Mark III

When trying to import photos from my Canon 5D Mark III into Lightroom 4.2, the import usually freezes up at some arbitrary point.  It will either crash lightroom altogether, or it will have a message saying "could not import all files, files could not be read."  (something along those lines.)
I am using a 1 year old iMac with a 1 TB HD.  I import directly onto that hard drive.  Lightroom has never had an issue importing.  My previous camera was a Canon EOS T1i.  The problems started when I purchased my 5D Mark III.  Images from my T1i, in fact, still import fine with no issues.  I am running OS X version 10.7.5.  My compact flash card is brand new, a Lexar 1000x.  This question/issue may have been answered elsewhere, and if so I apologize, for i could not locate it.  I have seen some suggesting it may be a hard drive issue, however, the evidence points to the 5D Mark III not playing well with LR 4.2.  (T1i images still import fine.)

Here's a post concerning 5D MKIII file corruption, which may also be due to a camera malfucntion. Yes, there could be something wrong with your camera.

    SUGGESTION:
Install the Canon EOS Utility that came with your camera. Also check for an updated version of the EOS Utility after the install. You need to install from the CD first before you can install any updates.
    http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/slr_cameras/eos_5d_mark_iii#Driver sAndSoftware
If the EOS Utility can download the CR2 files to your hard drive, then your camera is not defective.

  • Will Canon 5d Mark III Raw files work with Lightroom 3

I have just tried to upload Raw files from a Canon 5d Mark III to Lightroom 3.  The file were not recognised.  I believe there were some update issues but my Lightroom 3 is updated.  Do I need to get Lightroom 4?  I need to know urgently as I have a shoot tomorrow and will go back to my Mrk II if I can't get an update for Lightroom 3.

    LR3 DOES NOT support Canon 5D3, 1Dx, Nikon D800 or Nikon D4.
Newer cameras wont work in it, and require LR4 for RAW processing (Tethering in LR4 STILL is not supported)
    However,
LR4 is massively buggy, and slow to a point where it is practically unuseable for anything other than a handful of images to edit.
Also, LR4 will not tether to the new cameras (for that, try ANY of the competing professional software, Aperture, Capture One - They work just fine)
You can, convert your 5D3 files to DMG, and then open them in LR3 that way, or you can get LR4 and deal with it's massively awful slow issues that Adobe has still not resolved 5.5 months after launch, or you can use other software.
    Those are your options.

  • 5D mark III lens correction problem with dark shots

Just found a new irritating problem with 5D mark III and Lightroom 4 (currently on 4.2). I shot quite a few shots in the dark over the weekend using high ISO (6400-16000), with EF 24-70 f/2.8L. If I enable the lens profile correction on the dark shots, the corners of the images all develop incredibly strong purple haze that renders the image unusable. Not enabling the correction allows me to use the images just fine. Also images that were shot with similar settings but were shot inside, with more light, don't have the purple fringing issue. Makes me wonder if this is some incompatibility between Canon's high iso noise reduction system and Lightroom's RAW processing when it does lens corrections.
    Anyone else seen this?

    Sulka Haro wrote:
Replicated the shot under a heavy blanket -> yes, the exposure looks the same. Whatever is causing the corner to be noisier than rest of the exposure doesn't seem to be caused by light.
At that very high of ISO you are actually seeing small differences in the sensor chip temperature due to heat from the electronics in the camera. The small amount of increased noise you're seeing in the corner at ISO 25600 is insignificant.
    Sulka Haro wrote:
Interestingly enabling long exposure compensation doesn't seem to do very much to really improve the shots at these sensitivities. When enabled, the exaggerated corner noise does disappear, but also it looks like some areas in the middle of the exposure become more noisy with non-uniform noise blotches appearing instead of fairly uniform slightly higher noise pattern.
I haven't needed to use Long Exposure Noise Reduction with my 5D MKII, so have no firsthand experience. My guess is that at very high ISO settings (above 6400) a lot of what your are seeing is random noise or "shot noise," which changes from frame to frame. This causes the dark frame subtraction to "fail" in the way you are seeing. Just a guess.
There is an excellent 5D MKIII review that compares noise reduction with several other high-end camera models. The reviewer also states,
"The 5D Mark III's ISO 51200 and 102400 remain a complete mess even with strong noise reduction applied - You have to be desperate to use these settings. ISO 12800 and 25600 remain very marginal for my uses. I always shoot in the lowest standard ISO setting that will allow me to get my desired shot, but begin to cringe when settings above ISO 3200 must be employed. Your standards and applications may be different."

  • 5d mark III download problem

    Hi,
I'm having problems downloading images from a 5d mark III to Lightroom. I'm shooting raw CR2 format. When the camera is connected to the computer, a handful of files download, then an error message appears saying the remaining files can't be read.
I'm on a macbook pro with the latest OS. The canon firmware is 1.1.2, Lightroom ver. 4.2.
The same images download to the computer fine, via a card reader. When the camera is connected to an older macbook, the download is also problem free.
    Any ideas gratefully recieved.
    Paul Thompson
    www.westyorkshireimages.co.uk

I've downloaded thousands of pictures using a direct USB port camera connection from Canon 300D, 600D, 5D MKII, and PowerShot A630 cameras without a single lost or corrupted image file, and the transfer speed is faster than a SanDisk USB2 and current HP System built-in card reader.
I can't speak for Mac OS systems, but Windows 2000, XP, and 7 OS systems have always recognized my cameras and download my images without a hitch.
One possible cause of Paul's error message is that the camera battery started to run low during the LR file transfer. Make sure the battery charge level is near 'Full' before downloading images.

  • Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Bridge does not recognize the raw files from my Canon Mark III 5D Camera.

Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Bridge does not recognize the raw files from my new Canon Mark III 5D Camera.  How can I get my files open to view and edit?  I am using LR3, Photoshop CS3 and Bridge CS3.  Do I need to upgrade these programs or is there another way to get these programs to recognize my files?
When I try opening the raw images in Lightroom, the thumbnails say "Preview unavailable for this file"  ... when I click "import" an error message pops up that says "The files are from a camera which is not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom."
When I try opening the raw images in Photoshop, an error message pops up saying "could not complete your request because photoshop does not recognize this type of file."
When I try opening the raw images in Bridge, it just shows an icon with the file name and CR2.
    Please help!!!

Unless I missed an announcement, today, LR6 isn't available, yet, right?  Only Adobe employees and beta testers would know what LR6 does differently at this point and they're all sworn to secrecy.
LR5 is available as a standalone version.
    PS-CS6 is available as a serial-number-licensed version.
PS-CC + LR5 are also available as a Photography Plan subscription for $10/month with a minimum OS versions of OSX 10.7 (and probably 10.8, soon) and Windows 7.
Bridge is part of PS, not a separate program.
LR5 standalone and LR+PS-CC plan are both available on this page:  http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/software.html
PS-CS6 can be found on this page:  Creative Suite 6 which can be found by searching www.adobe.com for Photoshop CS6 and clicking the Buy link in the on-the-fly search results.
As with any new Adobe software, it might be wise to run it in trial mode for a few days/weeks to see if it works well with your computer, before purchasing and finding out you might need a new computer, first.

  • Why does not Lightroom allow me to import RAW files from my Canon 5D Mark III?

Why does not Lightroom allow me to import RAW files from my Canon 5D Mark III?
Error message that it does not support cr. file

    Which version of Lightroom?
As Hal points out, if it's pre v 4.1, you can't expect an old version of the software to know what to do with a camera that didn't even exist when the software was released.
Given how many times a day this same issue comes up, maybe it's time Adobe changed the error message to something like "your camera is too old to be supported by this version of Lightroom. Please upgrade" or similar...
