My 5g touch has temperature warning go off when I plug in headphones.

It works fine until I plug in headphones. Within 15 seconds of plugging in headphones, the temperature warning comes up and says it is too hot. It will stay on for a few seconds to a few minutes then go away but within a few seconds of unlocking, it appears again. If I restart it, it will work fine until I put headphones in again.

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a hardware problem.

  • Why does my 3rd Gen iPod Touch still play through the speaker when I plug my headphones in?

When I plug my headphones into my iPod, it plays through them, but it also continues to play through the built in speaker. Does anyone know how this can be fixed? Thanks

    - First see if it woks OK with another pair of headphones.
    - next, to rule out a software probem:
    - Reset:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore the iPod from backup
    - Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod
If still problem you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.  It is liklely a problem with the headphone jack i the iPod.  There are third-party places that will replace he jack.

my ipod touch has been disabled and needs to be plugged into itunes to reset it. However, the computer it was last synched with has broken and I don't know what to do!

You need to place the device in recovery mode.

  • My ipod touch has entered restore mode, but when I attempt to restore it I get the error code 1604.

My daughters ipod touch has entered restore mode, but when I attempt to carry out a restore I get an error code 1604.
Any easy solution to this problem?

Error 1604: This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, uninstalling and reinstalling USB ports, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections, device not recognized properly, computer won't recognize a FireWire or USB device). If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for error 1604.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while iPhone remains connected.
iPhone should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

  • When i plug my headphones into my ipod touch 5 i cant hear any music i tried 2 different headphones what should i do

when i plug my headphones into my IPOD touch 5 i cant hear any music i tried 2 different headphones what should i do

Hey Ehlam Managua, You have tried a different set of headphones, still no joy-- OK. (1st step in trouble shooting completed). Just to be clear the sound still works through the speaker, correct? If so, try quickly plugging / unplugging the headphone jack about 12 times, there is a tiny switch inside the port that may be stuck closed. If so the plugging / unplugging should free it up. If still no joy, have you tried turning your iPod off then turn it back on? If that doesn't work go into Setting>General>Reset then tap Reset All Settings. If still no joy, connect with your computer, make a full set of backups from this iPod to your computer, then Restore to Backup. If still won't work, Restore to New. If still nothing, could be dealing with a hardware issue. Contact your Apple store and set up an appointment to have your iPod evaluated.

I just received a brand new iPod touch as a gift. But when I try to play music on it the speaker is extremely slow. When I plug in headphones I hear nothing. Tried multiple headphones. Tried a restore.  It never dropped or anything

    Try here:

You said you restored the iPod. Was the restore successful, that is, it went though all the steps without errors?
Try a restore to factory settings/new iPod if yuhave not doe so so far.
Are you  using the headphones that came with the iPod? Are you inserting the plug fully
Have you tried another set of headphones in the iPod?
The speaker is not that loud.

When i plug my headphones into my Ipod touch and listen to music, the volume automatically reduces slowly so I can't hear anything. Please help.

Thank you. That is good information.
Does this mean that there is nothing I can do about the delay? When I think of a delay, I think of maybe 10 seconds. I am having to wait for a minute or more for my audio to switch. While I wait, I have no audio and any audio program hangs. Is there a setting I can change? It seems rather ridiculous that I have to wait so long just to switch from internal speakers to headphones.
It is like this on other Mac machines? Or it is just my iMac? I hate to compare Mac to Windows, but on Windows or Linux computers the switch is instantaneous.

    No, but try restoring it:
Make sure you are following the instructions in this procedure to the letter. Here they are, with emphasis on some easily overlooked requirements:
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release only the Sleep/Wake button.
Continue pressing and holding the Home button while you reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Note: If you see the "low battery" screen, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears (iTunes icon and USB connector) release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the "recovery mode" alert ("iTunes has detected a phone in recovery mode").
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you do not see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. Be patient since it sometimes takes several of these attempts before you are successful.
If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
Select the device in iTunes and choose "restore from backup".
If you still can't get it to work, you have done all you can and only Apple will be able to help.

  • Why does my ipod touch 4g do this when i plug my headphones in? (not your usual headphone question)

Can anybody help me out? I bough my Ipod Touch on December 26th at about 11 am. I took it home registered it all all of that stuff, downloaded some apps and put music onto it. I then proceeded to use my headphones with my ipod and everything worked fine. Then at about 9:30 pm i went to listen to my music once again and when i plugged in my headphones the weirdest thing happens. The screen changes to the black screen with the apple logo on it (like the one after you restart your ipod) but it also has a little (i would call it) buffering symbol (the circle made up of 12 individual lines) located at the bottom of the apple (Apple logo). That screen stays up for 5 seconds and then switches to my lock screen which stays up for only 1 second and then the cycle begins again. It never ends! I don't understand!!! I didn't even have it up and operating for 12 hours!! I am looking to see if anybody has any ideas about what to try. I have tried doing all of the below:
    - switching off the password lock
    -switching the lock to 'never'
    -restarting my ipod
-turning it off and then plugging in my headphones then turing the ipod back on
-started playing a song over the speaker and then plugged in the headphones
    -turned off all applicaitons etc.

*** The headphones still work I can hear an alert sound through them as the screens change, and i have tried a multitued of different headphones with my ipod***
i am in the middle of downloading the latest version of itunes/software for my ipod because i am also trying to get imessages-- i was hoping that that would work to get it on there- and now i am hoping it works for my headphone problem (do you think it will) .
*** as soon as i unplug my headphones the ipod goes back to the lock screen, i unlock it, and it works normally (even if i dont have the lock screen/password turned on)
please please please please help This is my first ipod touch and i have no idea how to solve this problem
**ps if you can tell me how to get imessages that would be awesome too

Not an expert, but plug it into your computer.  If it comes up hit sync.  Unplug it and see if it works, if not, plug in again and hit reset (I don't have the screen in front of me, but I know you get a main screen on iTunes you get an opption to upgrade or reset.)  When you reset it's kind of like nuking and paving.  It will erase your internal memory completely and reinstall everything on it.  Make sure you have updated your computer using software update first.  It takes a while, but that should fix it.
