My 7th generation iPod nano will not turn on or be recognized by my computer.

I have plugged it into my computer. Nothing. Blank. Computer says it can't read the USB.
I update the version of iTunes. Nothing. Blank.
I hold the power button. Guess what? Nothing. Blank.
I've only had this iPod for a couple weeks, and I have not had any problems before.

If this is the case, I suggest you return the unit and ask for a replacement. Cheers!

  • 7th Generation iPod Nano will not connect to iTunes after iTunes 11.1.4.62 update

I updated iTunes to the 11.1.4.62 version last night. Now, when I connect my iPod Nano 7th gen device, iTunes gives me a message stating that an iPod has been connected but could not be indentifed properly, try reconnecting, unistall then reinstall iTunes, blah blah. Tried all that and none of it works. iPod worked fine on this computer on iTunes until this update. Windows 8.1 system.

  • 2nd Generation iPod touch will not turn on

My 2nd Generation iPod touch will not turn on.  I have held the lock button down for up to 30 seconds and it remains a black screen.  When I put it on the charger, the screen usually shows the battery amount, but it will not do that either.  I checked the battery about 10 minutes before it began this, and it was about 75% charged.  There is no way it could be dead.  It will not even show the apple, as if it were powering on.

    - Connect the iPod to your computer.  If iTunes sees the iPod restore the iPod.
    - Next see if resetting the iPod will make the iPod visible so you can restore the iPod.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next see if recoverymode  will make the iPod visible.  For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore

  • Ipod Nano will not turn off

My ipod nano will not power off. Even the sleep button does not work. I have reset everal times. Any thoughts?

I've been through 4 of those R's, as well as the Quick Fix and about 5 hours on the phone with Apple. It will now turn off, but it is still not visible to iTunes and the iPod updater won't run because it also can't see the iPod. Windows sees it just fine, so now I'm awaiting a 3-5 day response from an Apple engineer about what is wrong. This all started when I installed the 6.0 update. I'm now back to the older software, but it still won't reconize my iPod, so therefore will not update it with new songs, etc.
    Thanks for your reply.

  • My ipod 4 will not turn on, charge or connect to itunes/computer. nothing has happened to it to cause any damage to the hardware.

i have  n ipod 4th geration. it has no hardware damage or water damage. it will not turn on, charge, or connect to itues/computer. my computer will not even pick up any hardware connection when i plug it in. the screen stays black. ive tried holding the power and home button then letting go of the power button but nothing seems to be working. someone please help.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My iPod nano will not turn on no matter what I do.

I tried holding the play button to turn it on. I tried charging it for a couple of hours. I tried resetting it. I tried plugging it into my computer. None of this made it turn on or even make a flicker of light. What should i do?

The iPod will need to be serviced, to determine the exact fault and repair it (if possible).  You can get the current 7th gen iPod nano as an Apple-certified refurb for $99 (with a one-year warranty)
    http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/ipod
so the cost to repair your nano may not be economical.  If you are the good at such things, this web site has DIY repair guides
    http://www.ifixit.com/Device/iPod_Nano
Be sure to rule out the other possibilities.  If you have an Apple Store nearby, you can make a reservation at the store's Genius Bar and take it there (along with your docking cable).

  • My Ipod nano will not turn on

Yesterday mt Ipod nano was working, today it has no power, will not charge and even when plugged into my computer, Itunes does not acknowledge it.  I think it must kaput.  It is only 3 months old, it wasn't dropped or anything.  Any suggestion?

i am having the same issue have tried holding down the power button to reset but it isn't even bringing up the loading circle let alone the apple logo, the last time i used my ipod it was fully charged as well. this is frustrating as i got this for a christmas present due to my last one wouldn't hold it's charge it would fully charge then last 5 mins and die. (it is 2 years old though). my computer doesn't read the nano 7th gen and tells me that is an unknown device and to reset it and if this doesn't work to replace it.

  • My iPod Nano will not turn on.  The screen is always dark.

For no apparent reason, my 4th Generation Nano stopped working.  The screen is dark and when I attempt to plug it in to my computer, iTunes does not 'see' it.  It will not take a charge if I plug it directly into the wall.  Is there a way to reset it or am I missing something other than bringing it to an Apple store?

  • 7th generation ipod nano won't turn on

So this is what I was doing before my ipod went black: I was listening to a podcast, then paused it and turned it off. The next day, I went to go turn it on. However, I pressed the home button accidently and it was already on, and playing some music/podcast. I don't know what it was because after that, the screen immediately went black. I tried to turn it on but it didn't do anything. So, I charged it for about 2 hours. I pressed the hold button to turn it on again, but it wouldn't do anything. It doesn't turn on. I just got it like a week ago. Also, when I plug it in to my laptop or desktop, a message pops up saying that it is not recognized. Any help is appreciated!

  • IPod nano will not turn on, charge, reset, anything

I charged my ipod for 2 or 3 days, because I forgot about it. Then when I got it off the charger it would not do anything. I also noticed that I had left my earbuds in the headphone jack during that time as well. Did this ruin my ipod? I've tried resetting it several times, charging it up and then resetting it and nothing happens! Is my ipod done or is there something else I can try?

It very well sounds like the iPod's is completely shot, no longer able to build or retain any sort of charge.  Might be a good time to start saving for a new one.
As for the paid music, you should be able to download most of it again at no cost via iCloud.  See this article for more information and assistance.

  • Why does the 7th generation ipod nano not have games

I want to know why the 7th generation ipod nano does not come with:
    1- games
    2- voice memo

    1. The iPod Nano runs the Pixi operating system, not iOS and has too small a screen for displaying the game and controlling it.
    2. Plug in a headset with a microphone: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/ipod_nano_user_guide.pdf page 46.
