My 8 year old got an itouch for Christmas but has forgotten his passcode.  How do I reset or unlock itouch without passcode?

My 8 year old got an itouch for Christmas and has forgotten his passcode.  How do I reset passcode if I can't even get past the passcode required screen?

Connect the iPod to its syncing computer and restore via iTunes.  If you have difficulty, place the iPOd in recovery mode and then restore. For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
For how to restore see:

  • I got an ipad2 for Christmas but I am unable to connect to itunes

I have downloaded OS 5.0.1 and restored factory settings. I can connect to the internet without problems, but when I try to connect to the app store or itunes the asterisk just keeps spinning and it says "loading" until eventually it says it cannot connect to the server. Without these it is basically a $600 PDA. If it matters, it is a 32gig WiFi 3G model. Can someone please help or is it defective. I have contacted Apple support and they will get back "within 48 hours". It will probably be returned before then

Assuming you've created a proper Apple ID and filled out all of the info from iTunes on your computer, you should be able to access the iTunes app and App Store App on your iPad.
Before going to exchange this for another tablet, at this point, I am at a loss for a fix, but there is one more thing we can try. If this doesn't help, if you have , reasonable, access to an Apple Store, I would and see if they can fix the issues you're having and/or see if they can give you a replacement if they feel it's defective.
They, also, maybe able to get your iPaf working from the store since most Apple store have Wifi access.
If your iPad works fine there, you know you have a problem at home with your computer and/or Wifi setup.
I forgot to ask if you're using a PC or Mac,  if using a PC, you need to, temporarily, disable virus protection and any firewalls before activating your iPad. Return the iPad to its factory condition, then try hooking up the iPad to your computer, again, to start the activation and loading process, again.
If successful, then try using over Wifi, again to see if this clears up any issues. If still the same issues, it could be issues with your WiFi router. I believe, when using an iPad, you need to disable any firewalls that are setup in the router and may have to adjust the router's settings. You can keep any internal firewalls on your computer, but I believe that firewall security at the router level will prevent the iPad from working properly.
If this still fails, if your iPad is fully operational, try doing a reset, by holding down the home button and the iPad's on/off button until the iPad shuts down and restarts itself.
This is all I got, if still no go with any of this, take it to the nearest Apple retail store and see if they can get it to work or replace it there. The staff at the store will be able to help.
I forgot to mention, if you don't want to wait a long time, call your nearest Apple retail ahead of time to make an appointment at the Genius Bar to have this looked at.
Here's some info about troubleshooting Wifi/router issues if your iPad is still wonky.

This is all I got. Good Luck!

I set up an apple id for my 12 year old, a verfication email was sent, but google has locked her out because of age.  How do I get the verfication email?
Should each person in my house have their own apple id and password?
Can each of the different ID's be linked back to my apple account so that when they purchase apps and music it will be charged to my credit card?

Ask Google... they locked you out of the email account.

Check how many applications are starting when you log in, I found that if there was a lot of activity at login Finder did not display the icons on the desktop correctly, again like you it did not occur at every login, just occasionally.
For Safari have you tried resetting Safari, if that does not help you could disable plugins and extensions one at a time. You may find one of those is causing the problem.

  • HT204053 I have had an iphone and itunes id for years.  Now 2 of my kids got ipod touches and 2 got ipod nanos for christmas.  How do I add them on to my account and download songs and apps I already purchased for myself?  HELP!

I have had an itunes account for yearsfor my iphone.  Now 2 of my kids got ipod touches and 2 got ipod nanos for Christmas.  I can't figure out how to add them on to my itunes account so I can download games and apps that I have previously purchased.  Please help!!

For Messages they will each need their own iCloud accounts. You should also enable Restrictions in Settings > General > Restrictions and disable auto-download on the other devices.

I received LR 5 for Christmas but have not downloaded it yet on my computer. I have had LR 3 for about 4 years.  I am due to buy a new computer soon but need to know how many licenses/downloads I will get before downloading LR 5 on my current computer.  I may also purchase a laptop in the next year so that would require 3 licenses altogether (current iMac, future iMac, future macbook).

    You have one license.
You can download and install it on an infinite number of computers, as long as it is only installed on two of your computers at any one time, and in use on only one computer at any given time.
So in your case, current iMac, that's would mean its installed on one computer, no problem. Future iMac and future MacBook ... so if you uninstall from current iMac and install on Future iMac and future MacBook, it's now installed on two computers at a time, no problem, as long as you're not using Lightroom on both simultaneously. And if after that, you got two new computers and uninstalled Lightroom from the previous two, you're still good, it's only installed on two computers at any one time.

    iOS- Understanding passcodes
If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
             necessary to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup. If you do not have a
backup to restore, then restore as New.

Even a four-year-old MacBook should have come with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. Leopard can run the latest version of iTunes; it will download and install pretty much automatically if you run Software Update.
You might first have to be sure that you are running the latest version of Leopard, which is 10.5.8. This, too, will download and install for you if you run Software Update. Just keep running Software Update until there is nothing left to download and install (you might have to run it more than once because some updates require previous updates to be installed first).
If you have a version of Mac OS X earlier than 10.5, then you can't run the latest version of iTunes. You will need to buy a more recent version of Mac OS X. You must be running at least 10.4 Tiger, and you can upgrade directly to Snow Leopard from Tiger. Apple still sells Snow Leopard for about $30 and you might find it slightly less at a retailer or on eBay. After upgrading to Snow Leopard, you will be able to upgrade to Lion using the Mac App Store for another $30 or so if your MacBook meets the minimum system requirements.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
If you have the cable, just connect it to both and the desktop will show up on the external display. Then, you can select different modes, changing arrangement in System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement, or using shortcuts > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5019

  • I'm trying to setup my new iphone and the Apple ID it asks for is my friends old Apple ID that she no longer has access to. How can I fix this?

I'm trying to setup my new iphone and the Apple ID it asks for is my friends old Apple ID that she no longer has access to. How can I fix this so I can use my new phone? The first step asks for my iCloud info but then asks for my friends after I agree to the terms.

The iPhone is new, has never been used. When asked if I want to set it up as a new phone, restore from an iTunes backup, or my iCloud backup I selected iCloud. It then askes for me to sign in with my Apple ID, I then agree to the terms, then it asks for me to sign into my friends Apple ID. She and I have used each other's computers in the past so I assume this is where her information is coming from. The problem is she no longer had that email or Apple ID and has no way of gaining access to it and therefor I am unable to proceed.
I suppose my question is, how can I remove her information from mine so I can setup my new phone using iCloud. Also, I have already checked my Apple ID online and nowhere on my account is her information listed.

    Hi,
Here's the Bottom Case Replacement Link

It doesn't answer your specific questions about cost... but it does advise to contact an Apple Store or an AASP...
Anyway have a look at it... if you haven't already..
