My accelerometer(gravity sensor) doesn't work

my ipod touch 4 accelerometer(gravity sensor) doesn't work, it has no response when i play games, watch video or photos,browsing web.....i update and restore many times...but still doesn't work...
also,once i lock the ipod,it can't be unlock and remains black screen. I need to press the power and home button together in order to force in re-open again...

I would try in order:
- Reset your iPod. From your description you may have already tried that.
-Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes on your comnputer
- Restore your iPod to factory defaults/new iPod via iTunes
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since you may have a hardware problem.

I´am experiencieng a problem that many other iphone users may either.
The proximity sensor doesn´t work. When i answer a phone call, the display doesn´t turn off, and everytime i keep dialing numbers, endind calls and a lot of other little things that are getting on my nerves.
It seems apple couldn´r care less for those problems we are having, and nothing has been told or done. Thats good for us to see how much apple is concerned with customers.
Anyway, is there a way to fix this annoying thing???

this could be a few reasons,
1. try and update the device to the latest firmware via itunes, to check you on are on 4.3 go to settings>general>about and under version, if is lower than 4.3, update the device
2. if this fails remove any cases or screen protecters (silly, i know) that may block the sensor
3. if that fails, take to the nearest apple store, and describe your problem, they will either replace a=or repair

Remove all apps from multitasking bar. Double click Home button then tap and hold an icon and tap on little x on every app. Then reset. Hold down Home and Power button until Apple logo appears.

N97 Proximity Sensor doesn't work quite as well?

I just recently updated my phone and it seems like the switch from portrait and landscape doesn't work quite as well. The angle at which I have to put it on landscape is steeper and it's really annoying. Anyone else have this problem?
edit: I know the firmware went through coz the lock bug isn't there anymore. but when I connect via USB it still tells me "charging" . Just saying

hey there, what you are referring to isn't the proximity sensor lol. the proximity sensor is basically used to detect when your face is close enough to the phone (i.e. when pressing your ear against earpiece), so that the display switches off to stop accidental presses of the screen, and to conserve power by turning the backlight off. anyways what you are referring to are the sensor settings for the accelerometer in your phone. i don't have a N97 so can't vouch for what you're saying, although it may not exactly be a bug, rather a tweak of the accelerometer settings. from memory, the N97 charges via USB, does it not? this behaviour will be automatic upon plugging the cable into your PC. i doubt that there is an option to turn it off, though i am not exactly 100% sure about this. this behaviour may be changed in future firmware updates or it may not, as the phone relies on USB charging as its sole charging method. but its not really a bug as such.

Sony xperia z3 compact proximity sensor doesn't work while calling...

Hello there, I have an issue, when I make call my prox, sensor doesn't seem to be functioning... The sensor it self works just fine, I checked them via internal check + few external apps.I already reseted my phone to factory settings. Ps: Yeah I have tempering glass screen, but that shouldn't be an issue because like I said with the testing app the sensor worked just fine ( tested with my finger and ear, worked fine)... Regards

Hi, I have the same problem, proximity sensor not working. My phone is in mint condition, not even scratches. This happened just after the latest update, every time I get a call the screen won't turn off. I followed the repair instructions using the PC Companion Software, I errased all the data and restored the phone. I still have the same problem, I tried Safe Mode and the problem remains. I emailed support and they said I can't go back to the previous software version that actually worked just fine. Is very frustrating to run out of options on a "High End" product from sony. I used to love this phone and even convinced some friends to buy it. Now every time I need to make a call I just want to throw it against the wall. Try removing your case. If still an issue, take it in to Apple. You have a 1 year warranty.

Proximity sensor doesn't work correctly after 4.3 update

The proximity sensor disables the screen when I place the phone near my face when in a call, that's fine.
However, it never re-enables it when I move it away. This happened prior to the 4.3 update, however I could press the home button and it would light the screen up.
That doesn't happen anymore, so I can not hang up a phone call once the screen goes off.
This is a major defect

I have the same issue with a 2 month old Galaxy S4 and I noticed it after the last push from Verizon whihc may have been the 4.3 update. Proximity sensor won't light up the screen again when you move it away from your face. Verizon told me to do a factory reset, Samsung told me to do a soft reset then clear the cache. Did all and still have same problem. Had a call yesterday and person on other end did not hang up so I had no way to hand up on my end. Am turning off the proximity senson durring calls for now but it will use up more of the battery with the screen lit more. They need to fist it.

Delete and Re-enter your fingerprint. It is also helpful to enter the fingerprint of the finger you use the most several times, instead of just once.

My proximity sensor doesn't work after call waiting

My proximity sensor works fine during calls. Until someone calls in while I'm on the call. Whether I answer or not, when I pull it away from my face it activates the screen as it should, but it never turns it back off when I continue the conversation. This ONLY happens with call waiting. once i press on the home button and unlock the phone it works fine, knowing that i had a replacement for the phone for the same fault and now and i don't know what to do as my brother's phone is exactly the same however it works fine.

MSI R5970-P2D2G Woes: Lockups in 3D Applications + Fan Controt doesn't work.

Yesterday (5/10/10) I received my MSI R5970-P2D2G in the mail. I've been in the market for a HD5970 for quite a while, but living in Latin America it's been next to impossible to get one. I finally managed to get a brand new R5970 through the Amazon marketplace. Anyhow, since the card arrived yesterday I've been trying to get this thing to run properly.
The card locks up mere seconds into any 3D application, roughly when the GPUs reach around 75C. A Furmark multi-GPU stability test will make the card hard lock my system in mere seconds, whereas 3D Mark Vantage actually manages to get through most of GPU Test #1 before hard locking. It usually hard locks somewhere in between the end of GPU Test #1 and the beginning of GPU Test #2. I've only been able to complete the 1-minute Furmark benchmark once. Let's not even get started with trying to play any games. My system just hard locks minutes in.
The other problem I have is fan control. Manual fan control through CCC doesn't work. If I tick the "Manual Fan Control" checkbox and try to move the slider and hit "Apply", the fan immediately jumps to 100% speed regardless of where the slider is. Unchecking "Manual Fan Control" leaves the fan running at 100% for a few minutes before it starts slowing down. MSI's own Afterburner utility doesn't even let me move the fan slider (odd, because it lets me do it on my Diamond HD5870).
My PSU is overqualified to run this card. I've run it through OCCT's 1 hour test with no problems. Same deal with my CPU/RAM overclocks: they've endured hours of Prime95 as well as OCCT with no issues at all. My mobo's BIOS is updated to the last version. I don't think it's a hardware problem.
I've tried:
-Using my old 5870 to uninstall ALL ATI software and drivers, then running CCleaner and Driver Sweeper to get rid of all ATI driver remnants. Shutting off the PC, switching to my R5970, and installing brand new drivers.
-Using a spare drive with a fresh installation of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bits to try and get the card to run.
-Underclocking the card to see if it ran stable.
-Returning my CPU/RAM to stock values.
-Checking all connectors, trying different PSU connectors, and physically examining the card for any signs of damage.

You can go check it out if you want to find out all the stuff I've tried. About the only thing I haven't tried is flashing the video card BIOS, but there's nothing to flash it too! AFAIK there is only one version of MSI's BIOS for the R5970.
Basically, I'm sort of stuck with a $700 paper weight right now. The few seconds (or minutes) the card manages to run, FPS is sky high and it works like it's supposed to. It always causes a hard lock when GPU temps are nearing 75C though, although I've tried "manually" changing the fan speed to 100% and it still crashes after what seems like a set amount of time. This is all at stock values, mind you. I haven't tried OCing at all. I'm just baffled at the whole thing, as the card is clearly capable of running like it should, it just seems like it can't handle running like it should for more than a few seconds or minutes in some cases. To me, it really seems like the card is borked. Oh yes, the VDDCI Phase #1 sensor doesn't work, reporting a flat 0 on GPU-Z.
Any ideas before I contact the person that helped me buy this card to arrange for a return?

My MSI HD5970 is working like it should, tested it all day.
I used MSI Afterburner and MSI Kombustor to watch the temps on full load, the fan is working and no problems.
(at 65C, 70C, 75C, 80C the fan goes faster, 81C was my max temp on full load)

HP dv6t fingerprint sensor suddenly doesn't work anymore

I own a dv6t with fingerprint sensor.
When coming back this weekend, which I didn\t spent at home and forgot to turn off my laptop, the fingerprint sensor didn't work anymore.
Usually, when you come close, there is a white light on the left side, and when scanning a fingerprint, it becomes orange.
But when sliding my finger above the sensor, no light is switching on and the sensor doesn't scan my print.
I restarted the laptop already, but it didn't change anything.
Did I switch it off, like you can do with the wireless adapter?
There is another question, for which I should open a new thread, but maybe someone over here knows a quick-fix:
My "FN" key is permanently locked, which means to reach the F1, F2, elc. keys I have to hold the "FN" key.
I would like to have it the other way around, where the F1, F2, etc keys are default, and you have to hold the "FN" key to activate the special functions.

Try a hard reset, works sometimes.Disconnect all external devices first.
1-remove power cord and battery
2-press power button for 30 seconds
3-reinstall only power cord for first startup.
4-power on
As for the Fn key, some models have a setting in BIOS for this.

When I go to Window->Message Viewer from the menu bar....This is what i get and I can't even close it. I have to force quit mail app completely. I just installed AmunRaa2.0 (it's a theme to change the look for low light consumption. I didn't realize but I installed a a file called MailFix which is supposed to be the fix not the actual installer. I am including the file as well.

IPhone sensor ( auto rotate ) Doesn't work !!

I bought an Iphone 4S-16G last week and I understood that on of my Iphone sensor ( auto rotate ) doesn't work it means when I landscape my iphone my messages or photos or in a games doesn't rotate , Now what should I do ?
I already restored and turned off and turned on and checked rotation option in portrate oriention by double clicking but it didn't work .
Please Help me .

oops my bad, you did say exactly that you had tried that. Sorry. Also you already Restored too. Only thing I could add, is to Restore as New iPhone, at end of Restore when prompted Set Up as New iPhone. And then see if better. Anyway, iPhone 4S has full Warranty, make Genius Reservation and take iPhone to Apple for resolution.
