My access is denied when trying to save a file

I am having trouble saving a downloaded file.  I get a message "Access Denied".   I tried uninstalling and downloading again, but that did not help.

After the download the file is on your system.

  • Error when trying to save a file

    I get this error when trying to save any file (newly created or not) word document in MS word 2010:"You are attempting to save a file type (plain text files) that has been blocked by your File Block settings in the Trust Center".
    I followed the directions given by the Microsoft Knowledge Base article 922850, but I am still having this issue. I can still save files as PDF but not in any kind of word format.
    I also tried opening another file copy and pasting under a different name and it doesn't help.
    Please Help.
    Bruce

    Hi,
    Please try the following methods:
    Using Administrative Template files and the Office Customization Tool to disable the restriction
    Use a trusted location, or create an exempt location

  • Firefox hangs when trying to save a file, even after removing firefox and reinstalilng afresh

    I recently experienced firefox hanging/freezing indefinitely when trying to save files, such as pdf files. The same pdf files open fine within the browser if I do not select "save link as...", but the problem occurs when I try to save such a file. The problem is similar regardless of the file type (e.g., .mp3, .txt). Not only did I go through the recommended solutions that mozilla suggests when file downloads hang, but I uninstalled firefox completely (removing all files with user settings), and then reinstalled firefox afresh without any plugins or add-ons, and I still have the same file save problem. It may also be worth mentioning that this problem does not occur in internet explorer or chrome. Maybe a system file that firefox uses got corrupted (?), but I don't know which one or how to repair it if that indeed is the problem.
    My system is running XP, and I have McAfee AV installed (which has not been a problem in the past).

    Early on I tried starting firefox in safe mode as one possible fix, and that didn't solve the problem. I just tried again right now with the fresh installation, and still no luck.
    Any other ideas?

  • Acrobat X Pro v 10.1.10 (Mac OS 10.9.3) hangs when trying to save PDF files

    Acrobat X Pro v 10.1.10 (Mac OS 10.9.3) hangs when trying to save some PDF files, after opening or after commenting.  Applies for any of the Save options.  "Watch" then "spinning beach ball" appear and application is indicated as "not responding."  Mac OS Preview has no problem with the same files.  Files can be displayed with Acrobat, just not saved.  I would prefer to use Acrobat's commenting tools to mark up the document.

    "Mac Office 2008"? You must mean Microsoft Office 2008. Try posting in the Microsoft forums here:

  • Flashing screen when trying to save a file

    When i tried to save a file from Microsoft, when the screen popped up to show the possible folders to save, it started to flash at the folder preview (not the whole preview but half from mid point to bottom of the display). It was very lagging when scrolling down even though I still have almost 1GB of free memories. Most of the time I can't scroll anymore so I have to save the file somewhere without a folder and then drag to the desired folder in Finder. What should I do here?

    Save the file as a new name. Close and Open the new file.
    Most likely when a file transfer happens, Office makes the file 'Read Only'.
    If you have two opened files with the same name, the last opened file will be 'Read Only'.

  • Why do I get a program error when trying to save a file

    I've loaded and reinstalled photoshop elements 3 times. I can not save any files. all i get is cannot save file do to  program error message'
    this is a brand new product with a program error and they want me to pay them to fix there problem. it ain't right.

    which version of Photoshop Elements are you using? Also, do tell us about the flavour of Operating System you are using and the format in which  you are trying to save your file.
    You can also try saving your file to a different location( e.g. desktop) to check if your computer has any permission issues

  • Access Denied when trying to open a file that is encrypted on network share with EFS

    I just recently enabled EFS on the default domain policy and created a new network share, encrypted a file and added myself to that file and tried to open the file from my workstation.  I then receive an error "Access denied", I also tried
    to create a file and encrypt it on that same share and get an error "The requested operation cannot be completed.  The computer must be trusted for delegation and the current user account must be configured to allow delegation."
    My steps.
    1. Enable group policy for EFS, removed the expired certificate that was already there and Created a new Data recovery agent.
    2. Created a network share, created a test file, enabled encryption on the file
    3. certmgr.msc, personal and requested a new certificate, Basic EFS
    4. On the network share and properties of file, advanced, details and added the user
    5. from the workstation tried to access the file, Access Denied.  I can create any file I won't just can't add attributes to encrypt the file or open an encrypted file
    Now if I go to the server where the CA is located which is also the AD server and create share and run the same process it works as expected.  I'm guessing I have to export the cert from the CA server as a pfx and import that to both the server that
    has the network share and the workstation but that still doesn't seem to work.  Maybe I don't understand how EFS works and this is not possible?  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    You are correct in not understanding how EFS works.
    When you connect to an encrypted file via a network share, the encryption/decryption takes place *on* the server. To enable over the network access, the server's computer account must be trusted for delegation.
    The server actually impersonates the user and creates a user profile on the server (containing the defined EFS certificate and private key). The important thing to remember is that the files is transmitted in clear text from the server to the client.

  • Permission denied when trying to save document

    My wife is trying to save a Pages document and when she gives it a name to replace "untitled" she gets a drop down dialogue that says "Permission Denied." I ran Disk Utility to repair disk permissions, she has tried saving it under several names to avoid duplicates. Any idea why this would suddenly crop up?

    I couldn't all the sudden get pages to save or change or update any document in my external hard drive, when I dragged the document to a flashdrive suddenly I could do it, it is still a mystery to me, this is a Macbook, as far as I know my external drive will still do it in my iBook

  • "Access is Denied" when trying to RDP to Server 2012

    When attempted to RDP to a Windows Server 2k12, occasionally I will receive a "Access is Denied" error after entering credentials. Direct console access works fine. Attempted to RDP to 2k12 server with Win XP, Win7x64 Pro, Win 8.1, WinServer2k3
    and WinServer2k12, however no connection was made. If we reboot the Win2k12 server, RDP works fine for an unknown amount of time. Usually this issue will happen on a Friday, we reboot, RDP works, come in Monday morning, and it does not work.
    Followed steps in the following article, however issues persists.
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/8405bed7-57a8-4b54-b968-6b0e00f367dd/access-is-denied-remote-desktop

    http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2010/07/08/the-case-of-the-mysterious-access-denied-aka-more-on-service-hardening.aspx
    I'm gathering more information such as Event Viewer logs, screenshots, and Registry entries.
    Thanks in advance!

    I have found the answer. This server is a Terminal Server, and it could not connect with the RD Host. After changing some local DNS settings and disabling un-used NIC's, I was able to get a good connection and RDP successfully.

  • "error: \lib (access is denied)" when trying to deploy

    I have a sql server stored proc that I have successfully created the artifacts for as specified in documentation I had rec'd in a prior thread. Now, when I go to deploy, I immediately get the error:
    "error: \lib (access is denied)"
    I have verified the path to the lib folder as specified in my genterate.bat file to create the artifacts. It is shown below. I am not sure what I need to do.
    SETLOCAL

    at which step do you try to navigate or generate something to this lib folder? (can you paste that code? )
    you do this by using a full path or relative ?

  • ORA-22835: buffer too small when trying to save pdf file in LONG RAW column

    Hi,
    I get "ORA-22835: Buffer too small for CLOB to CHAR or BLOB to RAW conversion (real : 125695, maximum : 2000)" when i trying to save a 120k pdf file in an Oracle Long Raw column using dotnet 4.0 and Entity FrameWork.
    Dim db As New OracleEntities
    Try
    Dim myEntity = (From e In db.TEXTE _
    Where e.TEXT_ID = txtTextId.Text _
    Select e).Single
    With myEntity
    If txtTextypeId.Text <> "" Then
    .TEXTYPE_ID = txtTextypeId.Text
    Else
    .TEXTYPE_ID = Nothing
    End If
    .TEXT_NUM = txtTextNum.Text
    .TEXT_NAME = txtTextName.Text
    .TEXT_DATE = dtTextDate.SelectedDate
    If DocAdded Then
    .TEXT_DOC = Document
    ElseIf DocDeleted Then
    .TEXT_DOC = Nothing
    End If
    End With
    db.SaveChanges()
    Document is an array of Byte and TEXT_DOC also (mapped to a long row column).
    is it possible to increase the size of the buffer ? how may i do it ?
    Thx in advance.
    Regards.

    Using a custom UPDATE or INSERT stored procedure for LONG RAW column with
    exceed-limit data may still get the following error.
    "ORA-01460: unimplemented or unreasonable conversion requested".
    One option is to use BLOB instead of LONG RAW in your table and regenerate your
    data model from the table. Then using the default UPDATE or INSERT statement
    (created by EF) should work.
    The following will modify your LONG RAW column to BLOB column.
    Disclaimers:
    1. It's irreversible--you cannot modify BLOB back to LONG RAW.
    2. I have not tried that when there are huge data in LONG RAW column.
    So be careful.
    alter table <your_table_name> modify <your_long_raw_type_column> blob;

  • Error when trying to save .ai file

    Hi,
    I created a business card in Adobe Illustrator CS2 and now I want to change my email address on the card. I did that and tried to save it but when I did this error message came up:
    "The path does not exist".
    I don't know why it's doing that. I want to be able to edit and save it later on if need be so how can I fix this? Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
    ashmic19

    Thanks SkaldiArts I appreciate the help. I did what you said and created a new type layer and then input the text. I deleted the old type layer and everything saved. So thank you! I would have not known I needed to do that. That's kind of tricky.

  • When trying to save a file under Excel 2008, ver 12.3.3, with extension .xlsx or .xlx, I am told it can't be saved because it is "read only." How do I change the file from read only?

    When I try to save a file using Excel 2008, ver 12.3.3, with extension either .xlsx or .xls, I get a message saying it cannot be saved because it is "read only." How do I change it from read only? (And how did it ever get to be read only?)

    Save the file as a new name. Close and Open the new file.
    Most likely when a file transfer happens, Office makes the file 'Read Only'.
    If you have two opened files with the same name, the last opened file will be 'Read Only'.

  • When trying to save a file, no file dialog appears

    The last 2 weeks, often when I want to save a file --- any file, eg an image, I right-click "save image as" and then wait for a file dialog to ask where to save, then nothing, no matter how long I wait.
    If I exit Firefox and restart it it may work normally for a while, i.e., the dialog appears, but soon the same problem comes back. This is of course infuriating when you have gone through some tedious procedure, typed a captcha, a password, etc, etc before a website allows you to save a file.
    The other r-click options work -- I can open a file with an application, I can even use "DownThem All", but Firefox's own save dialog is unusable.
    Firefox 27.01 on XP

    You can check it DTA or another extension isn't causing this problem.
    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
    *Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
    *Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
