My access to microsoft products are now blocked
after updating my mac to leopard, snow leopard then lion, why is it that i can no longer access microsoft word or excel?
If you are unable or unwilling to update to Microsoft Office 2011, you can continue to run Office 2004 in Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) installed into Parallels 7 in Lion:

I receive a message when trying to open Photoshop CS6, Illustrator CS6, etc., then when I try to follow the directions for troubleshooting, the installer fails to initialize.
Error message: "Adobe Application Manager is needed to resolve this problem. However it is missing or damaged". Then, after download, the program fails to load and displays this message: "Installer failed to initialize. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem". a nutshell, the application is crippled and incomplete.
Only if you have the luxury to purchase the Developer version, then that’s a different scenario altogether.
I know the intention of Microsoft is to make money but consider other less unfortunate people (Forget about Dreamspark!)
In a way, this has become a hindrance to students and workers out there who wanna learn more about C#, VB, SQL, etc.
It wasn't the case when I installed other IDEs like Eclipse, Oracle, which were very easy to install and comprehend.
I hope in the future, Microsoft would follow the examples set by Oracle, Ubuntu and other Open Source IDE providers who provide IDEs free of charge and most of all COMPLETE.

In attempting to add a music lesson program for my daughters band lessons we have messed up our computer. I now have both a managed account and an administrator account (both in my name). It is using the managed account now and not letting use the Internet because parental controls keep popping up. I would like to delete the managed account and get back to the admin account but I have no idea what my login is for the admin account. We have never had to use it before this problem started and what we thought it was when we set it up does not work. Any ideas?
If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know that account password, the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
Otherwise, boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select Utilities ▹ Terminal from the menu bar.
In the Terminal window, type this:
resetpassword
That's one word with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window opens.
Select your boot volume if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
Select ▹ Restart from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but you won't be able to unlock the Keychain. If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it. You’ll need to reset your keychain in the preferences of the Keychain Access application. -
apple replaced my hard drive (1tb seagate) and now I can't access my Microsoft office because the license was compromised. is this fixable? or will we be adding this to the list of lawsuits..
You can reinstall MS using your install disk(s) and the original registration key(s).

1) I have multiple accounts at the iTunes store and none are now associated with my purchases...I think because passwords have been associated with various id’s and I can’t log in and access those purchases. I want to get back to being able to use one id and password and be able to access those purchases.
2) When I upgraded my iPhone 3gs, to the latest version 5.0.1 (9A405), is when I noticed that i couldn’t update my applications. There are two names/accounts on the phone and prior to the update there was just the one. I have tried entering every conceivable password that I have ever used and get the incorrect password error every time. The apps on the iPhone are apparently associated with several/different accounts. I just want to get everything back to the way it was. Does anyone else think that the AppleMac group of products are marketed in a greedy way? I have MacBook Pro 10.5.8 with Leopard and am now told that I have to upgrade to Snow Leopard so that my system can download the relevant iTunes upgrade to sync my new iPad and get my audiobooks (which don't appear anywhere on the device right now). Of course there isn't enough memory on the MacBook and Snow Leopard costs more also? I don't have financial resources to pay for all the new memory requirement and related upgrades they say I need just to sync my iPad with my purchases.
Thanks for the reply but I already knew this. $20 for Snow Leopard which asks for 5gb free memory. I can only see that I have 4 gb (which I feel is rather a pathetic amount of available memory for any computer). To upgrade this computer's memory will cost another fee (I haven't researched this yet but gather it's more than $20). Then of course I could also be told that the OSX Mackbook Pro that I have can't be memory upgraded - which means I'm being told to buy a new computer - hence my very frustrated last email. I have been given a lovely iPad 2 as a present and now can't sync at all with anything because of this ongoing upgrade nightmare. How on earth am I going to be able to sync my movies, audiobooks etc to this new device??

i downloaded an adobe flash update and my computer after next logon got a blue screen. I could only start in safe mode and until uninstalling the flash player could i start in safe mode with networking. i cannot open any microsoft products now. I get a message saying adobe acrobat 10 is not designed to run on windows or uninstall and reinstall it ....but it will not let me uninstall it. What do i do? is this all an adobe issue or a windows problem?? thanks Tim

Parental Controls are not working correctly. There are websites I've listed under Allow Access, however they are still blocked. - such as: Yahoo mail and USAA banking. How can I fix this?

Just thought I'd let you know. Our suspicions were correct, it was the OS. After I installed Snow Leopard (10.6.8) all the problems were corrected. I also updated the RAM from 1 gb to 6 gb. The mac is working all around better. Sorry it took so long to get back to everyone. My superdrive had pooped out. Rather than replace it I got an external drive from OWC connected with firewire 800. So far everything is running very well, as far as I can tell this external drive is better than the original superdrive. My superdrive has always acted funny, infact I returned the first mac I got after a week because its superdrive was also malfunctioning. Anyway, all that to say everything seems to be fully functioning again.

It does not help, because it only shows the photos on the camera roll and do not show the photos synchronized with that pc that i dont have access anymore.
The photos/albums all appear on the ipad, i can see it without problems but i cant get them out of the ipad to save onto pc for backup.
And i reaaly need it, as it is the only place that i actually have these photos now... -
Our company have just upgraded to iOS 6 and the majority of the users are now receiving the following error 'Cannot Get Mail – Server error. Contact your server administrator' when accessing ms exchange this never happened on iOS 5 can anyone help

I am unable to update latest version of Itune, I get error R6034 C runtime library incorrect. My windows are up to date and I have been able to access itune until today and now I don't have it.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

Hundreds of blocked cookies and "allow for session only" cookies that used to be in my "exceptions" privacy list are now gone/erased. Where did they go? Where on my computer is the list? This list tooks years to accumulate and I tried to find the file that contained the list so I could save it or copy it but I never could. Is this list somewhere on my computer so I can restore it?

My creative cloud started doing an update on Photoshop, then it just said cancelling, now it is hanging there and just saying cancelling and other products are waiting to update and just saying waiting. I have tried to restart several times, shut down etc, just the same.

What security products are suggested for scrubbing rootkits from a Mac? There are good articles on similar repairs for other makes online. I would like to investigate whether a machine can be truly scrubbed or if it's best to retire it. I haven't done anything yet as it is a candidate for more extensive forensic recovery.
Also, I am not sure if various malicious spoofing and cloaking tricks (making Wi-Fi appear off when it is on, hiding unauthorized sharing/remote access, falsifying System Preferences preference panes, etc.) are resolved by a thorough drive erase or are more similar to APTs?
Finally, is there any emerging information regarding APT hiding places other than the recovery partition? I have heard mention of the EFI, for example, but it seems unproven and unlikely. Some people have also mentioned the RAM.

A straightforward question. You are correct in recognizing the difference between tentative conclusion and certainty. Here are our main reasons:
1. Incoming items noted on the console (or console sub logs) and Activity Monitor after defenses are overcome, and which are brought in by an unwelcome remote user, often have a process name and the word "kit." (Bear with me.) We soon observe the process is under attack, from terminal evidence and soon, decreased or lost functionality of the process. The terminal generally reports alteration of specific kernel behaviors. A simple example (that may or may not be accompanied by kernel changes and may simply alter permissions) is modifying Disk Utility such that key uses are unavailable. You can see how an attacker might value disabling partition views, mounting and permission repair. In retrospect, DU might not be a root alteration. I was thinking that its relation to fsck flagged it as a possible ring 0 item. I may need to know core parameters of a good example to pick strong ones.
2. Incoming folders hidden for possible later use contained bundles of similar root kits, including some not applicable to Macs. From what I have read from reasonably credible sources, root kits are sold and traded both singly and in bundles.
3. Root kits are a logical next choice for our attackers, as various prior techniques hindered us but did not paralyze us.
4. One of the most authoritative articles I found was about PCs not Macs. I noted the assertion, undocumented, that an estimated one million computers are infected by root kit manipulations, and underscored that the kits can be used by people with low computer skills.
5. MacAfee lists root kits (by description, not name) as a top pop five threat prediction in the coming year, though again, the emphasis is on PCs.
Linc, I am trying to show a spectrum of observations and info that have shaped my thinking. To retrieve better captured evidence requires significant legwork at this time, but it is something I am willing to do if you can be patient. Understand this long attack has been like a natural disaster to us.
