My address bar and panels have disappeared

My address bar and settings panel's have disappeared

In Firefox 3.6 and later on Windows you can hide the menu bar via "View > Toolbars" or via the right click context menu on a toolbar.
Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the menu bar temporarily.
Go to "View > Toolbars" or right-click the menu bar or press Alt+V T to select which toolbars to show or hide (click on an entry to toggle the state).

I can't remove Bing. I've tried Control Panel, the article "Removing the Search Helper Extension and Bing Bar," and I have had no luck for Windows 7 and Firefox.
I wish I could share the two screen shots I took, but this question site doesn't have the option, so I guess I'll describe where Bing is showing up.
In the left hand of my browser, just to the right of the back and forward arrows, there is speech bubble with a black eye ball or something. I found out it's Bing-related by clicking on it. There is no option to remove it with either left or right clicking on it.
Also, in the right hand corner of my browser, at the very end of all my tabs, there is a white rectangular box with an orange "b" and a magnifying glass symbol. It will not respond to anything I try to do to it either, but if clicked it opens a new tab with a Bing search dialogue box.
Finally, any new tab I open automatically opens to the Bing search dialogue box (versus Google).
I need to get specific, step-by-step instructions for removing this Bing stuff from my computer. As I said, I have already gone through all steps outlined in the article I mentioned above as well as not been able to locate Bing in my control panel.
Please help. I'm certain others are having this same issue. I use Windows 7 and Firefox. Thanks.

Apologies for the formatting there. No idea what went wrong...

"Reply" and "Forward" and "Move" have disappeared rom my email, so I have to go into "mailbox" in the top bar.   How can I get them back?

under the "view" menu open custimixze toolbar.  Then drag those from that list back up to your tool bar.

  • The address bar and all the command & tool bars disappear from my web page as soon as I log on. The leaves me with no way to enter a web address or navagate.

When I attempt to use Firefox, the address bar and all the command & tool bars disappear from view as soon as I start the program. I can see the scrolling our of view at the top of my screen. This leaves me with no way to enter a web address, navigate or even exit the program.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F).<br />
If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.<br />
You can click the Maximize button at the top right to leave full screen mode or right click empty space on a toolbar and use "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press F11.

  • Has anyone downloaded Yosemite and found that there are no ore scroll bars? I have to move the window (of any window, Skype window, browser window etc.) in order to find the scroll bar and then it disappears so fast I can't even use it.

Has anyone downloaded Yosemite and found that there are no ore scroll bars? I have to move the window (of any window, Skype window, browser window etc.) in order to find the scroll bar and then it disappears so fast I can't even use it.

Not sure why that was unchecked but good to know!
Apple's new default (since at least a couple of OS releases back) is to have it off so OS X matches the behavior of an iPhone or iPad.
I almost never need a scroll bar, and when I do, I just move over to the edge of the window when scrolling and a larger scroll bar appears.
Yes, for the most part, users don't really need the scroll bar. That's what the scroll wheel on almost all mice is for. Saves the trip over to bar to physically grab and move it. But, I do like it on all the time regardless. That way (especially with a long article) I can just take a quick glance over to the bar to see about where I am on the page (a third of the way down? halfway?). Otherwise, I have to move the page just to make it appear to give me the same information.

  • Why can't I see the URL in the address bar when I click on a hyperling, as opposed to typing in a URL? I send a lot of links, but if I can't copy and paste them from your address bar I'll have to abandon Firefox and use another browser.

I just gave you the details. When I click on a hyperlink, the URL of the site/page is not in the address box at the top of the page.

Type '''about:config''' in the Location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key. When you see a warning, click '''I'll be careful, I promise!''' button.
-> In the '''Filter bar''', type '''browser.urlbar.formatting.enabled'''
    * Right click the preference '''browser.urlbar.formatting.enabled''' and click '''Toggle'''
    * The value is now set to '''False'''
-> In the '''Filter bar''', type '''browser.urlbar.trimURLs'''
    * Right click the preference '''browser.urlbar.trimURLs''' and click '''Toggle'''
    * The value is now set to '''False'''
-> Close the '''about:config''' tab and then Restart Firefox.
Check and tell if its working.

  • Why is it every single time i download something, it disapppears off of the download tool bar, and I have to maunally search for it?

Why is it every single time i download something, it disappears off of the download tool bar, and I have to manually search for it? And sometimes I still cant find it, even doing a detailed search.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== Every since I have had it.

Tools > Options > Privacy > History: "Remember download history"
To see all the History and Cookie options, select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
See [[Options window - Privacy panel]]

  • When I go to a webpage it isn't registering in the address bar and firefox won't let me go back.

Another odd thing that has happened, Bing took over my blank page and had a searchbar on it, but that has suddenly disappeared, I'm not sad at all, but am wondering if it is connected.

    * Make sure that you not run Firefox in [[Private Browsing]] mode
    * You are in Private Browsing mode if you see "Tools > Stop Private Browsing", possibly grayed
    * You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
    * To see all History settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting <b>Firefox will: Use custom settings for history</b>
    * Uncheck: [ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"
You can reset the warn prefs on the about:config page via the right-click context menu.

To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

  • I poofed away my address bar and can't get it back

I was trying to get a URL for an image this morning, but for some reason couldn't drag the picture up to my address bar. Everything just kept highlighting instead. This was frustrating, so I tried "right" clicking and saving the image address, which I then tried to paste into my address bar. For some reason, it wouldn't let me paste anything. I tried doing it from the "Edit" tab, and I tried doing it through "apple+v"
None of it worked. I tried this at least three times. Somehow, the third or fouth time I clicked on the address bar and hit "apple+v" my address bar literally poofed away. Like I was taking something out of my dock. The back, forward, reload, and stop buttons are all still visible and functioning, it's just the specific "Address" and "Search" bars that I'm missing.
I didn't know this was possible! I tried to get it back through the "View" tab: I tried going through "Customize Address Bar" and "Hide/Show Address Bar" and I restarted everything at least five times. Apparently, my roommate tried the same thing and managed to poof his address bar away too (who knew!) but was able to get it back through the "Customize Address Bar" tab. For some reason, it's not letting me drag anything anywhere. (Or cut and paste anything! I tried copying something from Safari and pasting it into another application, and that didn't work either.)
Does anyone have any suggestions? I was going to google it, but I can't figure out how to get there :/

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Quit Safari, find the com.apple.Safari.plist file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder, drag it to the Desktop, log out/in or restart and let us know what happens.

  • When clicking on name in address book -the email address appears different in the email address bar and can't be sent -why?

I have been using thunderbird for some years - in last month when I have been trying to send some emails I have a problem with some of them in that part of the email address has changed when I insert it ino the address bar and has inverted commas around the first part of the address before the @. I have tried deleting the addresses and re-inserting them but the same thing happens. If I go into the address bar and delete the commas the email is sent - can I overcome this problem without having to go into each email? I send out emails to many people and changing each one that has the problem takes a long time. Not every email address has this problem. Many thanks -Tim

ok, I've spent some time doing various scenarios.
I have managed to replicate one scenario which does as you say.
If my contact in the address book:
With name details as Peter Foo
    email address: [email protected]
where there is an inserted space before the name peter, of course this is not instantly noticeable, but it is as if you hit the space bar just before typing the email address.
Then when I use the Contacts Sidebar in a Write message, it will add the email address like this:
    Peter Foo <" peter"@somewhere.com>
    which of course in invalid.
but in the address book, if highlight the contact, in the section below the email address in blue -if I click this to send an email the email address is printed exacly with the space and it will send as if nothing is wrong.
So i'm asking you to check those email addresses which insert incorrectly via the Contacts sidebar. They only do this for me if there is a hidden inserted space at the start of the email address.

  • After installing the add-on compatability add-on, Firefox will no longer load web pages or allow me to enter anything in the address bar and has added an additional title bar at the top of the page.

When I open Firefox now, instead of opening up the standard Mozilla start page, it simply opens up a new tab page. Typing in the address bar and then hitting enter results in the address bar being cleared and the page staying the same. Attempting to send feedback via the add-on just opens another new, blank tab. For some odd reason, the Windows title bar has also come back above the orange Firefox button and the tabs.
I am unable to access the add-ons page to uninstall the add-on compatibility add-on to see if that will solve my problem and I have tried uninstalling the beta and reinstalling it, but the problem still remains.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    * [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • PS elements 11 panels have disappeared

I am using PS elements 11 with MacBook Pro OS X 10.9.4. My panels have disappeared. The layers box in the windows tab is ticked. I have tried resetting panels and have uninstalled and reinstalled elements but there's no change. What can I do to get the panels back. Thank you in anticipation. Martin

Go to the editor's preferences>general, click this button and restart the editor:

  • I am trying to get the most speed out of the browser, instructions say to type about:config in the address bar and hit enter, I did this. It now says to rt. click, from the menu select "New" then "Integer", I cannot find "New", I need better directions.

when I typed in about:config in the address bar and hie enter, what appeared looked like a lot of files, pages of them, I didn't know where to right click from the menu select "New"

Which prefs to you want to change?
It is not recommended to change prefs in order to tweak some settings.<br />
    Do you have specific problems?

  • How do you increase type size in menu bars and panels?

I recently abandoned my Mac Pro 1,1 for a shiny new Mac Pro cylinder running Mavericks 10.9.5. I have paired it with an LG 27" IPS display. The reason I am using the LG is because I was frustrated that Apple pays absolutely no attention to the pleas of their pro users for a non-reflective display.
And now I find that the type in the menu bars and panels is so small that it literally causes me eyestrain - and that I can't increase the type size. I am older (62), but I still need to use my Mac to survive. Unfortunately, though, it appears that Apple designers have again ignored the needs of their pro users -  in this case, older ones.
I have been a graphic designer and a producer of technical and marketing publications for over 35 years, and I appreciate good-looking design -  but the real measure of design is usability. Even great-looking design must be user friendly.
So now I am wondering if Apple interface designers are amateurs, or if they just don't give a @#$% about their users.
Did I miss it? Is their a way to increase type size in menu bars, etc.?

    Did I miss it?
    Yes.
    System preferences > Displays > Resolution ...
choose "Scaled" and pick an alternate resolution.
When you do this, text will be drawn as if your screen were actually set to that revolution, but graphics will be drawn full-scale at the native resolution.
This feature was invented for Retina Displays, and has finally been made available for additional displays.
