My address book on my MacBook Pro does not include changes made to my iCloud address book.
I have an iCloud account and use an iPhone and my MacBook Pro for my calendar and addressbook.
When I make changes to the addressbook from my iPhone, they appear on iCloud (from Safari) but do not synch with the addressbook on my MacBook Pro.
This just began to happen this week (August 10, 2012).
Any ideas?

A possible tip to add is the obscure option key solution to the question: to what groups does the selected contact belong? When the option key is depressed all associated groups are displayed.
On syncing: is there an Applescript or utility that will audit every linked iCloud account, Mac and iOS device for discrepancies between the Contacts databases? I thinking of the simple case like ours, where we want everything stored in the iCloud Account once-only-once, plus whatever Group-ings are useful. Even better - a script or utility that will force synchronization across all our devices and iCloud?
Another useful tip might be: here are all the things you must do to achieve simple syncronycity - everything the same everywhere, no private contacts. That is probably what 99.99% of users want, and it is not documented anywhere. Even Joe Kissel's Take Control of iCloud v1.3 doesn't address this.

Runnig 10.6.8 on a MacBook PRO.....The easiest fix if you're running Snow Leopard is to export all your contacts, then import them into something like google (I already had a gmail account), and then just use google to sync your contacts instead of icloud (via the sync with Google button in the address book settings).
Its a bit sluggish to update, but it works well. You can then point your iphone, and other iOS devices to use google for contacts too.
If Apple don't want to look after their customers, other companies will gladly do so.... -
ICloud sync with MacBook Pro does not work
I've installed iOS 5, updated Lion to 10.7.2, marked Calendar and Contacts sync in System settings for iCloud on my Mac. However iCal and Address Book sync between iCloud and Mac (MacBook Pro) does not work though there is no problem in syncing between iCloud and iPhone. Whether I create new event or contact, change existing one or delete existing one in iCloud this change is not reflected on my Mac and vise versa. I could not find a solution in this site or in forums.
Yep, worked for me, too and now contacts and calendar seem to be syncing perfectly. We'll see if it lasts.

iCloud is only available in Lion, 10.7. You will have to upgrade to Lion in order to get into iCloud. If you transfered a .mac or .me address to iCloud through mobile me, or you have another device iCloud enabled, then you can log into the iCloud.com website.

My MacBook Pro does not recognize my Android Incrdible 2 cell phone and therefore I can not transfer any photos from my cell phone to my Mac. I was able to do this in the past, but can not do so now. I have not upgraded to any new software. My USB cable is plugged in properly and I just get an error message -- "No Android Device Found". What could be the problem?
I had the same issue with the Galaxy S4 trying to see what the hype was about and was my first and last android phone. With that being said unfortunately it is a hit or miss with the Mac recognizing an android device or not. It worked perfectly fine the first time around and then it stopped working for no apparent reason. Through trial and error nothing I did solved the issue. I did however plug it in my Mac and left it connected for about 30-40 min to charge for a bit and all of the sudden it recognizes the phone. So I just launched Android File Transfer and everything else became fluid after that. I have no explanation as to why it happened that way, but what I gathered from this is maybe you just have to let it sit for a minute while plugged in before the Mac recognizes it, after all they are opposing software. On a side note this is why I will always be an apple user, Iphones and the like never have this problem

MacBook pro does not recognize my WD external hard drive anymore
I use TIme Machine on my WD external hard drive. Everything was working great up until about a month ago. My MacBook Pro does not recognize my external hard drive anymore...I have done nothing differently than usual. I did search in previous discussions and tried rebooting both the hard drive and the computer.
The USB port is fine as it does recognize another external hard drive and also pen drives....Please help! I haven't backed up in a month and need to figure out how to get this to work soon. Should I call WD?Does the WD drive show in Disk Utility?
Many times, a USB port simply cannot provide the power a hard drive needs. It is not uncommon for any electric motor to draw more power as it ages. A drive that worked before can stop working when it gets older because age has made it tak more power than any USB port can supply. There are a couple of cheap things to try:
1) A "Y" USB cable---two plugs go to the computer and one to hte drive, giving a power boost.
1 Meter USB 2.0 A to 5 Pin Mini B Cable - Auxiliary USB "Y" Power Design for external hard drives.
2) a POWERED USB hub. That takes the power delivery burden off the USB port so it can deal with data.
WD bare drives are fine but their enclosures are not very Mac-friendly. One thing that has reported helping is to get rid of the proprietary formating that WD puts on their drives. If you don't have to share the drive with a Windows computer, use Disk Utility to erase and reformat the drive to Macintosh Extended Journaled. -
I am a windows user that has converted to Mac and loving it but when I updated to Lion my wireless internet dongle would not work anymore and the Macbook Pro does not recognise the device at all so I am unable to reinstall it again. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The problem is that the iPhoto library is inside of iPhoto. Lightroom won't let you select it because it's basically a shortcut to iPhoto. Try exporting the images you need or all of them, depending on what you need. -

This article discusses what to do if your Mac won't turn on. To differentiate this from a display issue, be sure that when you press the power button:
You don't hear a startup chime.
You don't hear any fan or drive noise.
There is no video on your built-in or external display
If your computer has power but doesn't display any video, it may have one or more of these similar symptoms when you press the power button:
You may hear a startup chime.
You may hear fan or drive noise.
You may see a light from the Sleep LED (if your Mac has one).
Pressing the Caps Lock key on the keyboard causes it to light.

If your computer won't turn on, try each of these steps:

My macbook pro does not print through my PC to my EPSON RX 500 after loading OS X 10.7.4. It shows on the print queue "error" However, it will print if I directly connect my laptop to this printer via the USB connection. Any ideas?
It's all about setting up what ever version of windows you have running on your pc to share the printer. If you still get stuck post in a windows forum for help.

My MacBook Pro does not appear to have power.
I have a 13" MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.3) that will not turn on regardless of what I do. With the MagSafe Power Adapter connected, its indicator light is green. When I press the battery indicator button, it indicates the battery is fully charged. The sleep light does not blink. After disconnecting the MagSafe Power Adapter, when I press the battery indicator button, it indicates the battery has no life (the first light doesn't even blink).
The electrical power outlet has power. When I use a new second MagSafe Adapter, my MacBook has the same symptoms and won't turn on.
My MacBook Pro does not have a user removal battery. I've tried all the recommended resets.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.10.6.3 is pretty old for this machine but shouldn't create this problem.

Try a hard reset. Disconnect the battery (take the bottom off and unplug, use your fingernail.) and power adapter. Press the power button for 1 minute. Let the computer sit for 5 minutes, Reconnect and try to start up.
No? - Go through the same procedure and try to start without the battery connected.
The addendum to this would be to try a known good battery.
