My address contacts did not transfer to my new computer

I just got a new Macbook pro and I migrated my files over from my old computer but it didn't transfer over my contacts. Anyone know how I can get all my contacts onto my new computer without having to type them all in again?

  • IPhoto did not migrate photos to new computer

    Actually 2 questions. Some background.
Old computer: iMac late 2006 running 10.6.8, iPhoto 8.1.2
New computer iMac late 2013 running Mavericks iPhoto 8.1.2
During set up of new computer had a power interruption and did a recovery.  Instead of Mavericks the
recovery was  Mountain Lion and I had to upgrade to Mavericks. The Mavericks upgrade did not include iLife updates.
So, back to the original question.  When using Migration the photos on the old iMac did NOT transfer to the new iMac. How can I transfer the library?  There are too many photos for a dvd.
And finally, The latest version of iLife did not D/L with the Mavericks upgrade and they would like me to pay for it even though it was on the new iMac originally.
    Any way around this obstacle?

The Mavericks upgrade did not include iLife updates.
That is normal.  The iLife applications come with a new computer or have to be purchased. They are not standard applications of a system upgrade.  With Mavericks you need to purchase an upgrade to iPhoto 9.5.1. if your new computer did not come with iPhoto '11 installed.
When using Migration the photos on the old iMac did NOT transfer to the new iMac. How can I transfer the library?
Which options did you use to migrate?  By default the setup assistant or Migration Assistant will transfer your complete Home folder, if you do not deselect it. Or is your if Library not in the default location in the Pictures folder?
You could copy the iPhoto library to an external drive and transfer it this way or connect the two macs in Target Mode:  See: Transfer files between two computers using target disk mode
The latest version of iLife did not D/L with the Mavericks upgrade and they would like me to pay for it even though it was on the new iMac originally.
If iLife was installed on your new Mac, look at the "Purchased" tab at the App Store. You may need to "accept" the iLife applications to your Apple ID. See this document:
Accept iLife: OS X: About OS X Recovery

  • I backed up my iphone 4 and got the new iphone 4s but my contacts did not transfer over how do i get my contacts, i backed up my iphone 4 and got the new iphone 4s but my contacts did not transfer over how do i get my contacts

my iphone 4 was backed up but my contacts did not move over to my iphone 4s anyone know how to get my contacts back

If you're using your phone as recommended, your contacts reside on your computer in Outlook, Address Book, or with a cloud service.  Just synch your contacts to your phone from your computer or cloud service.

  • My Starbucks Passbook balance on my 4S did not transfer to my new 5S.

I bought a new iPhone 5 and gave my 4S to my daughter. The 4S had a $ balance on the Starbucks app from within Passbook. I had backed up my 4S to iCloud from within iTunes and subsequently "restored' my data to the new iPhone 5. My Contact, Calendars, Email, Music, Pictures were transerred to the 5 as expected. The apps stored on iCould had to be reactivated but no problem. HOWEVER, the Starbucks app from within Passbook (with a $ balance) did not transfer, even after signing in to the Starbucks app on the new iPhone 5. I lost the $ balance. The 4S was 'wiped' clean before giving it to my daughter, however she could briefly see the Starbucks balance on the phone once activated. I believe this Passbok platform is unique to each device and cannot be transferred. Conclusion: make sure your Passbook $ balances have been depleted before upgrading from a 4S phone to a 5. Comments???

Does the balance show up as zero in both Passbook and the Starbucks up or does it show up correctly in your Starbucks app on the new phone?  If the latter, you could try removing the pass from Passbook (tap i and then tap the trash icon) and then re-adding it from the Stabucks app (Go to Card tab and then tap Manage, then Add to Passbook).  Hope that helps.

  • I resently upgraded my OS to Snow Leopard, but the information in my address book did not transfer.  How can I recover the lost information?

I upgraded to Snow Loepard OS.  But not all the information in the address book was transfered.  How can I recover the lost information from my old address book?

No I did not make a copy of my address book.
Some information was moved over, many did not.
I do not see a pattern.
I think all the info is still on the hard drive, I just don't know how to recover it.

  • Upgraded to version 5.0.1 contacts did not transfer but apps did.  Do I need to select a setting for contacts to transfer from backup?

Restore worked on version 4.X but not 5.01.  Apps transfered but contacts and pictures did not.  Save original backup that worked on version 4.X when I had to get new Iphone.  What do I need to do to get my contacts and photos back?

    Sync from iTunes.
Connect your iPhone to your computer.  Select iPhone under 'Devices' on iTunes left Pane, then select 'Apps' tab on the right Pane.  Make sure SYNC APPS box is checked then click the SYNC button on the lower right window.
Alternatively, you can re-download individually from your Device
APP STORE > UPDATE tab > PURCHASED > NOT ON THIS IPHONE

  • All of my photos did not transfer to my new phone

Back in the beginning of October, I purchased the iphone 6, an upgrade from my 4s. I did an iCloud restore and everything was there. I sent my 4s off to be traded in so I could get money for it. Now today, I was going through my photos and noticed not everything transferred. A bunch of my photos are missing. Is there a way to get them back? I wish I had known about this before I wiped my 4s and sent it off to be traded in.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.

  • HT4527 used instructions to transfer pc windows 7 to pc windows 8 with external drive, files moved to proper directory but songs did not show up on new computer.

I solved this problem as follows. The instrunctions should tell you to delete the itunes folder that is created on your new computer when you install itunes for the first time, then copy the itunes folder from your previous computer. It looked okay when I did not do this the first time, but did not work, so I deleted the entire itunes folder on my new pc, then recopied from my external hardrive copy that I made from my old pc. Everthing came over: playlists, ratings, all "database" info.

Here are typical layouts for the iTunes folders:
With iTunes 11 you might also have a Home Videos folder inside iTunes Media.
In the simplest cases you copy the entire iTunes folder from <User's Music> on the source computer to <User's Music> on the target machine, install iTunes, and it "just works"TM.
If the media folder (inside the red outline) has been split out to a separate location then you can copy the library folder (outside the red outline) as before and connect the drive holding the media so that it has exactly the same path as before. If the drive appears as D: on one system and E: on the other then the library won't be able to find the media.
The crucial file is iTunes Library.itl - this contains a record of the tracks that have been added to the library, ratings, play counts, playlists etc.

  • ITunes song purchases will not transfer to my new computer

31 of my iTunes song purchases have been refused transfer privileges over to my new MacMini. Doesn't matter if I use my backup or transfer directly from my other computer (iMac running Tiger). The MacMini is authorized and all of my other purchases transferred with no difficulty. The message is 'this computer is not authorized for these, etc, etc. I used IMToo software to copy playlists from my iPhone to the MacMini but those 31 songs would not transfer--same message. Help is appreciated from polite forum users. Many thanks.

Continuing dilemma...I have discovered that all songs disallowed on my current computer were purchased with 2 old iTunes accounts I no longer use. They are (mylogon)@aol.com and (mylogon)@comcast.net. These songs had all been purchased prior to my previous new computer purchase (a powermac) and there was no issue transferring them over. The problem seems to have occurred because of the move from OS 4x to OS 6x--that is, I had been using Tiger, then jumped up to Snow Leopard. Perhaps my iTunes Library was apparently not as updated as I had thought. I was able to load songs over from both my iPhone and iPod and I believe I have recovered all but 4. The song files are in my system but iTunes won't permit me to play them without logging into the old accounts--which I can't do any which way the message goes. Help? Comments?

  • Photosmart and Photo imaging had on old printer did not come over on new computer.

Hi, I had a HP photosmart poto imaging on my old computer but it did not come over onto my new computer.  I really like this program because when I was copying home pictures for my family it allowed me to choose size of film, size of image and several at one time.  I have tried to find something compatible and so far no luck.  I tried copying it from old to new and that didn't work.  I am hoping that there is a new program with the same abilities.  Print shop and Publisher does not do what I want even though Stables said it would.  These programs allows me to bring it over to Works but when I do that and I want to ajust size of image for several or to reduce size of a larger picture it can become distorted.Any suggestions about getting a new software program.  I think they program originally came over when I had a camera and was transfering the images from it.so help

Hey ,  Welcome to the HP Support Forum.  I see that you're looking to acquire some HP software that you had used previously on an older system. I would like to help.  Do you recall which HP camera or printer model you had that would have came with this particular program?  Also, what version of Windows are you working with?  Please reply with these details and I'll be happy to assist.  Thank you,

  • Migration Assistant did not transfer my network or computer settings as I expected. Do I have to manually reconfigure all my laptop settings after an erase of the hard drive and reload of the OS?

Snow Leopard (10.6.8) became corrupted resulting in not being able to shut down my 1/2007 Intel Core 2 Duo MacBookPro and not being able to download numerous programs and updates. I backed-up my laptop, took it into the Apple Store where they wiped the hard disc clean and reloaded the OS. They suggested I use Migration Assistant to restore my backed up information to my laptop, but ALL of my settings from Desktop, to the Dock, to Finder, to screen savers, to Safari bookmarks, to all of my Mail inboxes, archives and smart email boxes, and to Documents and all of my files and their organization, to iTunes, to Address Book, to Calendar are GONE.
Do I need to do some more formal kind of a restore from my back-up drive to recover/restore this information and "get my laptop back" or is it all lost?

When a newly installed Mac is started up the first time, Setup Assistant runs for that only time and can migrate everything over, including user accounts. Later on, Migration Assistant can migrate some of the stuff but not all, since the computer already has a config and data on it that MA can't overwrite.
If you reinstall SL again, wiping the HDD, SA will run at first start one more time and can do the full migration from the backup.

  • My custom ringtones on iOS8 did not transfer

My custom ringtones did not transfer to my new iPhone6.  What happen and how do I recover them.  I noticed the iOS8.0.2 update stated something about Ringtones.  I also don't see them in my iTunes but still have them in my previous iPhone5S.  How do I transfer them between the two devices?

Y'know, this is an inSANE process.  Apple should be ashamed of themselves for doing this.
It's possible - but it's hardly 'intuitive'....as Apple so euphemistically likes to portray their software as being...
In macro terms, you have to:
1 - import whatever track or mp3 you want to make your ring tone into Garageband...on your laptop....as a track.
2 - edit it to whatever length you want it to be in GB.
3 - 'Share' it as a Ringtone-to-iTunes from GB to iTunes.
4 - Plug your iPhone into your laptop.
5 - Somehow, some way, locate the stupid track as a 'Tone' in iTunes...which really isn't intuitive at all.  Good luck on this step.
6 - Click and hold on that track to force iTunes into opening up the device list on the left (this is REALLY ridiculously UNintuitive)
7 - Drag and drop the track to the iPhone device that has now magically appeared from the abyss on the left. You will get ZERO indication that it actually happened.  I guess they think you should trust them that it happened.
8 - Knock on wood and go to your phone's Settings; Sounds: Ringtone...and hope like heck the title of whatever track you've babysat throughout the process somehow miraculously shows up under "Ringtones" - and click on it.  A checkmark will appear if you did it right.
Reaching back to my Android memories, the steps involved with it were:
    1 - Music
    2- Highlight track
3 - Click on settings button
4 - Choose 'Set as Ringtone'
I love many things about Apple, but iOS isn't one of them.  It pretty much stinks.

  • HT204053 I recently changed ny Apple ID but it did not transfer over to my iCloud account. How do I change my iCloud ID? The login popup for iCloud will not go away so I cannot get into my iPad since it pops up as soon as I turn the device on.

I recently changed my Apple ID but it did not transfer over to my iCloud account. How do I change my iCloud ID? The password for the new Apple ID does not work since the iCloud default user name is imbedded in the login box. The login popup for iCloud will not go away so I cannot get into my iPad since it pops up as soon as I turn the device on and re-occurs every few seconds.

You have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPad on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iPad when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.
