My addressbook is not communicating with iTunes!!HELP!!
I can't sync my IOS devices with my last version of the address book! I updated my address book in my Macbook Pro OS X 10.6.8 and then it is not communicating with iTunes. I tried the 28 step troubleshooting to this issue, my iTunes cache is clean but still not syncronizing... Tried to use iCloud online to upload the vcf cards but in each group it losts a lot of contacts (and I don't know why, because they are far away from the iCloud limits...).
For Windows Vista/7 http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes
For Windows XP http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925.
Make sure you follow these instructions completely with the phone disconnected from the computer. After the reinstallation, reconnect the phone and it should load the new USB driver.

i was able to connect and synced songs yesterday.
but when i tried it again today. i cant connect again.
i tried to disconnect and reconnect million times and i even dropped

When I open iTunes a dialog box pops up saying "The software required for communicating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly. Do you want iTunes to try to repair this for you?" To which I answer yes, click the "Continue" button and wait....iTunes then opens up and another dialog box opens saying the same thing "The software required for communicating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly. Please uninstall and reinstall iTunes" Tried this a couple of times but no success. And as instructed removed all the other apple programs as well (bonjour etc) Any help or ideas??? i'm just making sure that i know what you've tried already, before we try working through some of the exotic causes of this error message.

Can you tell us more about your issue?
Are you using a mac or pc? Do you know if your computer has usb 2.0 ? or better?
Do you have itunes installed on the computer? Have you checked to make sure itunes is up to date? Dose your computer recongise the iPod Touch when you connec it to the computer? if so, what happens when you connect it?
I'm trying to figure out where your having trouble with syncing. -
Atv not communication with iTunes
Ok, first, after downloading 8.2 and 10.5.7 my Atv wouldn't stay synced with iTunes for more than an hour or two at best. Miraculously, that problem seems to have resolved itself this week as I can't remember the last time I got the message that no TV shows were synced with my Atv.
Now, I can't rent movies. Everytime I try to rent one I get a screen saying the iTunes store is having trouble communicating with Atv. ***? I can't go a week without some sort of issue. I have restarted Atv as well as iTunes on my Mac to no avail. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
TIAYep, their servers must be down...can't rent from itunes off the PC either. That's pretty bad. I love how they don't even have an update page with status so we can save ourselves hours trying to solve the problem when it's on their end. Frustating!!!!

Ipod nano not synching with itunes: HELP!!
I just purchased an ipod nano and tried to synch with the latest version of itunes. I'm unable to synch and get an error -53. Does anyone know of this error? I tried calling support and was on the phone for over 3 hours and was unable to receive any help from them.
The error messeges that I get when trying to update my ipod to 1.1.3 from 1.1.2 is 1417. The error when I try to synch or restore is -53. Does anyone know what they mean? I just purchased an Intek21 high speed USB card. I also get an error on the diagnostic regarding no IEEE 1394 host controller. I'm not using a firewire though, it's a USB connection.

I have a bunch of songs on my ipod that I have from my previous computer and they will not sync with Itunes on my new computer. I have authorized the computer, I have also selected the "transfer purchases from ipod" option, I have spent the last day reading through FAQs but have found no solution. How do I fix the problem? The transfer purchases option only works with music purchased from iTunes and you don't say if this is the case.
Here's some other option for Windows users.
First, try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player. -
My first generation AppleTV will not sync with iTunes anymore. I get an error message that says: "The Apple TV is not responding Check that any firewall software running on this comptuter has been set to allow communication on port 3689" firewall is turned off.. Any ideas?

I will try with ethernet but will be a pain in the butt if i can not fix it with wifi for long term fix
I may end up trying to do a named IP address vs DHCP for this appleTV (not sure if i can do both and do not want to remove DHCP as i have a bunch of sensors and other devices that I prefer to dynamically add to the network via DHCP vs. assign each one
Will keep working on other fix options (factory reset, etc.)

You've managed to permanently damage the phone. As gdgmacguy suggests, buy a new one. Preferably from a legitimate source.
You may also want to keep in mind that it is illegal to use the Gevey SIM in pretty much every country on the planet. It may still be legal on the continent of antarctica, but that's only because penguins don't use cell phones as a rule. -

After an recent OS7 update my iPad2 requested a restore which I did, at the end my iPad jumped into "communicating with iTune" but it never communicates. I restored 3 time alreaady and I am not able to communicate with iTune to be able to use my iPad which is my working tool.

Help DSCC agent not communicating with AppServer or Tomcat?!
Installing Directory Server Enterprise Edition 6.3 From Zip Distribution on system running Solaris10 11/08.
Cannot get DSCC to work with either AppServer or Tomcat.
Both AppServer & Tomcat deploy DSEE WAR file and I can look at things that I have manually registered via command line. Cacao agent is running it is just not communicating with AppServer or Tomcat so it cannot commit any actions such as starting and stopping directory instances or creating new directories instances within the web app.
Is this a bug that occurs only when doing a new install using the Zip Distribution?
The Error message I get regardless if Appserver or Tomcat is:
"Could not contact the DSCC agent on <server>. Use the command cacaoadm to check that the DSCC agent is installed and running on port 11169."
I changed to port 11169 because it had a conflict on default port 11162.

Thanks!I started over and installed Glassfish and everything just worked. After the fact I think the real problem was related to the server.policy file. I think this was the problem because using the default appserver 8.2 that comes with Solaris has a different path and I got this same error when tried using tomcat also. When installing glassfish it uses this default path as in the server.policy example as follows so it just worked.
Add the following lines in the {install-dir}/domains/domain1/config/server.policy file

grant codeBase "file:${com.sun.aas.instanceRoot}/applications/j2ee-modules/DSCC/-"
permission java.security.AllPermission;
Hope this helps some as I was really stuck and confused at the time and just started playing with the stuff. Growing pains. Thanks to those that replied.

BrianI have had exactly the same problem before, I have followed the guide as suggested to the letter and still no joy, each time (3 times now) that I have reinstalled the latest version of iTunes it is recognised and syncs with my iphone but with the next reboot of my computer it is gone again.

Is your iPhone connected to your computer using the lightning cable or are you doing WiFi sync?
Sometimes the iPhone doesn't show up in the side bar if you're using WiFi syncing, if its not working, then be connected to your WiFi on your phone and on your computer (Same network) let me know how it's going, if it doesn't work still. Turn your phone off and on again and put in your pass code then try to sync it (keep your phone unlocked and not in sleep mode) tel me if it appears in the side bar.
