My Adobe Reader is not running

My Adobe Reader does not @seem to be working. I am being asked to check it is installed, which I have done and it is !! What do I do?

By "not running", what exactly do you mean?
You can't open it from "Programs"? You can't open it when double clicking a pdf file? You can't open a link to a pdf on a web page? Do you get any error messages?
More details please.

  • Adobe Reader will not run with limited user account.

I am trying to upgrade our Citrix Server Farm, from Reader 8.0 to 9.1, and am running into some issues.  First I uninstalled Adobe Reader 8.0 and then installed 9.1 from Adobe's site. Aftter the install completed I was able to run 9.1 without any problems.  However today, when some limited users started working, they started getting runtime errors.  This only happens with non-administrator user accounts.
    the error messages are attached.
After clicking OK, Adobe Reader terminates.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I do believe that I solved my own problem... almost.

"The affected user has a redirected Application Data folder and as a result the network path containing the Application Data uses a UNC path that begins with \\. This UNC path causes Acrobat 9.0 or Adobe Reader 9.0 to incorrectly parse the Application Data path and give the error message."
The article tells me to upgrade to Adobe Reader 9.1...   WTF!!!  9.1 is when this problem started, 8.0 worked great!  I would stay with 8.0 if I could, but some of our programs require 9.1.

  • Adobe Reader Plugin not installed in IE

    W7 64 bit Ultimate
I have Adobe Reader installed and running fine on my PC (Adobe Reader XI - 11.0.09)
It also works fine within Firefox .. plugin installed, enabled & working
However due to a specific requirement I have to use IE  (v 11 latest)
This currently will not work with on-line adobe forms ... "Read X" shows when I try to access adobe forms, when I look under add-ons .... only Adobe Shock wave shows, there is no Adobe reader plug-in.
I have re-run Adobe Reader install ... it comes back with message 'application already installed'
How can I install the IE browser plug-in?
Within Manager Add-ons I click on 'find plugins & toolbars' but it has nothing for Adobe or reader (pretty useless)
Anybody know how I can install it .... Adobe web pages just say enable it, but can't as it does not show.

Slight typo .... the form on screen was all in RED tables lines ... and above it a large Red 'X'
In show all add-ons    it did not show ... full de-install & re-install of Adobe Reader XI made no difference.
I then deinstalled IE and re-installed and it seems to have fixed it.
At least on IE ... still does not work on FireFox

  • Why does adobe reader 11 not allow you tube videos to be viewed on my MAC?

Adobe reader does not allow me to view you tube videos on my MAC.  Why?

Every time I install the newest version, for whatever reason, if I want to watch a video, I get a missing plug in message.  I don't get the usual "allow or deny" message with it, it just won't allow me to view the video.  I watch a lot of art lessons on line and participate in blogs and this becomes very frustrating.  The odd thing, is that when I un-install Adobe 11, I can view the videos but, of course, then I can't download PDF files.  The weird thing is, other people in my neighborhood are having the same issue and don't know what to do about it.  I may just download an earlier version of Adobe because I didn't have this issue until I updated it some months back.  Maybe my 6 year old MAC can't handle the technology even though I am running on the latest Safari version?

  • After upgrading, Adobe reader is not working.

After upgrading to 10.10.2, Adobe reader is not working. It is asking for user agreement to be signed. I cannot find this again. I have uninstalled and re-installed but still does not appear. I have tried to contact Adobe with no luck. Can anyone help please?

Since you are running OS X 10.10.2, you do not have an iMac (PPC) so you have posted in the wrong forum. I have requested the Hosts to move your post to the correct forum where hopefully someone will see it and help you.

  • Adobe Reader could not open InDesign PDF...

Just installed InDesign. I can "EXPORT" a PDF, but cannot "PRINT" a PDF. Error message says: "Adobe Reader could not open your PDF because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged. (For example, it was sent as an email attachment and not properly decoded)". What does this mean? My PDF's print from all other programs on my computer. Running Windows 7.

  • Adobe reader will not download

Adobe reader will not download.  I've disabled my firewalls and anti-virus program.  I click on down load icon.  Bow will say 2 of 3.  I never get to 3 to run or install program.

You can try using the full offline Reader installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • Adobe Reader does not fully open

Adobe Reader does not fully open - it starts and then disappears - windows 7 - nothing is new

    Yes, nothing is new...
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
If you cannot open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode in the registry; download, unzip, then run the registry script from https://workspaces.acrobat.com/?d=8yDBdUZCTE9FUcJJjZzHvQ
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

  • Error message - "Adobe Reader could not open....

I have Vista and I have Adobe 8.1.2 and I can not open PDF files. All I get is "Adobe Reader could not open "file name" because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)." I can send the same email to my work email and open the file just fine so I know the attachment is okay. Does anyone else have this error and if so have you been able to resolve it?
    Thank you!

I too am getting this message every time I try to open a pdf. I am running XP on both my laptop and desktop. Ever since I updated to Adobe 8.2 I have gotten the message. I can still open them on another desktop I have that is still running with adobe 5. I have even tried to uninstall 8.2 and reinstall 5 but it will still give me the same message. What do I need to do to resolve this issue?

  • Google search box in mid screen accepts text but is inactive. Adobe reader does not now function with Firefox. Both are new since update. Thanks

    1. The google search box in the middle of the FF page accepts text but is not active since my update. The search bar box works.
    2. Adobe reader does not seem to work with the new update. eg. Epost suggested I update Reader which I did but it still doesn't work. New since update. It works with Safari which I dislike or i would simply change.
    Thanks
    David

Does that box still Shows the Google text?
Try to use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.
Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).
Current Firefox versions use the default search engine (pref: browser.search.defaultenginename) to set the search engine that is used on the about:home page.
Check the <b>browser.search.defaultenginename</b> pref on the <b>about:config</b> page and make sure that it is set to the default value Google.
    *browser.search.defaultenginename
You can check if you still have the XML files of the default search engines including Google in the searchplugins folder in Firefox program folder.
If not then you need to reinstall Firefox.

  • After completing my upgrade to Adobe Reader 11.0.10 When I attpemt to use "Tools/File/File Save As" from IE 11 I get a "Adobe Reader is not Responding" and my browser is locked up.

After completing my upgrade to Adobe Reader 11.0.10. when I attempt to save an online PDF to my local drive I receive a blank window where I would expect to see file directory structure to save to.
No local directories are displayed for "Saving To", it is all blank.   When I try to Close (by clicking X)  the "File Save As" box a message pops up on top that says "Adobe Reader is not Responding"  It locks up all of my IE windows, not just the one with the PDF doc.
I then need to go Task Manager and stop the IE task.  All my browser windows are then closed.
That is the only way to recover from the "Adobe Reader is Not Responding" message.
This was not happening in previous versions of Reader.
Tolls/File/File Save As always worked properly.
    I have installed IE 11 (11.0.9600.17690)

  • Adobe Reader could not open 'A9R7D1F.tmp'

    Greetings~
I have seen others with this issue, but none of their solutions have been able to fix my problem.
When attempting to open a PDF document from a web site, I receive the following error:
"Adobe Reader could not open 'A9R7D1F.tmp' because it is either not a supported file type of because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."
This is limited to a specific set of computers.  Others within the organization function appropriately.  As such, it is not a web server or network problem.  Here are the specifics of the offending machine(s):  Windows 7, Internet Explorer 8, Adobe Reader 9.3.2.  Note that other machines with this same specs function appropriately.  I have confirmed there are no differing group policies and all are within the same subnet.
Here is what I have tried.  After each item, the browser was closed and/or system rebooted.  Everyone of these tests resulted with the same error.
Deleted all history in IE (cookies, temporary files, history, etc.).
Uninstalll Reader, reboot, re-install Reader, reboot.
Saved the PDF to the local desktop and tried to open that way.
Installed an older version of Reader.
Ensured the following Reader settings are selected: Display PDF in Browser, Allow Fast Web View, Allow Speculative Downloading in the background  (which match machines that are successful).
Ensure IE browser settings are configured to "Automatically" check for newer versions of stored pages.
Ensure PDF document is smaller than allowable disk space limit within IE.
Can anyone help me with this?  I am out of ideas!
    Thank you.

If you are generating files with anything before %PDF, these files are faulty. It's never been allowed, but Reader used to tolerate it for compatibility with an obscure Mac format.

  • Adobe Reader will not open PDF in browser simple answer.

I just had this problem and was able to work through it with the help of tech support from TD Ameritrade.  The fix is simple so read on.  After uninstalling and reinstalling all things adobe and trying other recommendations on these forums I was stumped.  I called my broker tech section since I couldn't open their reports and we identified what my specific problem was.  For me, and I imagine some of you this will help and prevent a lot of wasted time.
Nothing was wrong with my Adobe Reader.  My problem was that I have a 64 bit operating system and both of my default browsers were 64 bit browsers.  I did not know my internet explorer default browser was the 64 bit one until the technician that assisted me informed me that a recent windows update made all 64 bit systems default to 64 bit internet explorer browsers.  You cannot change that default by choosing between 64 bit and 32 bit, because you can only choose internet explorer.  That explains why my attempts to open with a 32 bit browsers always failed.  I also tried with Firefox thinking it was 32 bit and it failed as well.  The technician informed me Firefox is a 64 bit browser and then it made sense.  I guess the recent Adobe reader update caused a change that no longer allowed my 64 bit system and 64 bit browser to open PDF's through the browser. The technician who assisted me has a 64 bit system and only uses 64 bit browsers and can still open PDF's through those browsers.  That confused us for a while until we realized he had his Adobe updater turned off and therefore had not been exposed yet to the update that originated my problems.
****ANSWER FOR MY PROBLEM*******The quick answer is use Google Chrome or some other 32 bit browser.  If you set a 32 bit browser as your default, the PDF's will open.  You cannot set Internet Explorer 32 bit browser as your default if you have a 64 bit system and also have 64 bit Internet Explorer.  The windows update prevents you from doing it.  At least that is my understanding.
The bottom line is I have the newest Adobe Reader on a 64 bit system and can open any web PDF with Google Chrome set as my default browser, because it is a 32 bit browser.  The new Adobe Reader will not open PDF's with a 64 bit browser in Vista.  A 64 bit system is fine as long as you use the 32 bit browser to open your PDF's in Vista.  I hope this helps some avoid some headaches.  I wish it had been posted when my problem first arose.
I think you can use a 64 bit browser in Windows 9 or later, but for Vista the above applies.

Yes I can create a short cut to internet exp. 32 bit on my desktop and I can even be using Internet expl. 32 bit, but when I try to open a PDF with adobe reader it won't work with internet exp. as my default browser b/c windows will always choose Internet exp. 64 bit which isn't supported yet by adobe reader.  With google chrome as my default browser windows can't choose an unsupported 64 bit browser in its place b/c google chrome doesn't have a 64 bit version.
My post was for those people who may not have realized yet that windows would not ever choose Internet expl. 32 bit over Internet expl. 64 bit if both exist on their system.  For them it is easiest to just choose a default browser that only has a 32 bit version.
If I understood your reply correctly, you were telling me how to create a shortcut to Internet exp. 32 bit on my desk top.  However, having that shortcut on my desk top and opening my browser through it will not prevent the problem of windows choosing my Internet exp. 64 bit browser for pdf's I try to open from the web.  Thank you for your response, but I think the problem that I have tried to explain does exist for many users and can only be fixed by using a 32 bit browser that is not Internet explorer as your default browser.  At some point if windows fixes the update that always chooses Internet expl. 64 bit over Internet expl. 32 bit, then this will all be irrelevant.
    Thanks
