The prompt is asking me for a serial number (which I wouldnt have since I downloaded the trial from the website. How do I activate it with my Adobe ID? "activate with Adobe ID" is not an option on my screen. It only asks me for the serial number.

From what you say, I understand that you already installed Windows 7 on a second volume. Is this correct?
In that case, it doesn't make sense to use VMware Fusion unless you want to run Windows and OS X at the same time. If you do that, you will keep all your data.
If you haven't installed Windows 7 and you want to install it in VMware Fusion, you will be installing it in a virtual machine, so you won't lose anything.
I recommend you to have a look at VirtualBox first > http://www.virtualbox.org It's free and it's sufficient for most of users

Thank's for your efforts, and I just wish that this was the solution. Unfortunately, it isn't because, after double-clicking on the pdf in the website, it simply "opens" in another Safari window as a black screen - the pdf is there, somewhere, but not visible (either as an icon, or as a document).
When I right-click in the black Safari window, where the file is supposed to be, the only option available to display the file is to "Open file in Internet Explorer" (which is not what I want to do). Other options include saving or printing the pdf, which I don't want until I've confirmed that it's the form that I want. The same options are offered if I right-click on the file icon in the website.
Any other suggestions, please?

There should be an option to enter the serial number you have, either in that dialog box or from the "help" menu "Lightroom Registration".

To add to what BenB advised, make sure you have proof of purchase when you call Apple for a replacement serial number.
For future reference, it is a good idea to keep all software serial numbers in a database or text document. Considering the cost of the software, keeping a list of serial numbers can come in very handy at times like this.

If you paid for CC-full-suite or CC-Photography-Plan then you should have a CC-licensed version of LR available, but only if you uninstall the serial-number-licensed LR you apparently have, now. At least try that, uninstall LR 5, log out of the CC app using Gear / Preferences / Account / Sign-Out, reboot, log back into the CC app, and see if LR is one of the items listed.

I have had itunes on my computer (Vista) for years. It suddenly "disappeared" could not be opened at all although still in programme list. I ininstalled it and have tried to download again. I get a message it cannot be downloaded, no explanation. Help!

I have had itunes on my laptop for years, no problems. A couple of weeks ago I could not open it at all. It still showed in programmes. I uninstalled it and have tried on a number of occasions to download again. I have been unable to do so. No explanation just "couldn't be downloaded". The Apple page just goes immediately to page "Now that you have downloaded itunes", but of course it has not downloaded.
I have another newer laptop and the itunes on that is fine. Recently got automatic updates - no problems.

Download them to iTunes abd then sync the apps. Make an appointment with Apple and see what the problem is.

I can't search any videos on YouTube/Download any app from the App Store

Hi,
I am using movistar 3G network (Spain), full signal. Everything works fine, Stock app, Weather app, Mail, Safari... but I can't search for any videos on YouTube and can't download any app from the App Store.
I can see videos on YouTube app but only the featured videos, when I try to search the ones I want to see I get an error message "Cannot connect to YouTube".
The only problem is when searching videos on YouTube app.
When I try to download an app from the App Store I get a similar error message, "The download can´t be done, connect to iTunes" more or less, that's the sense of the message.
I can connect to the AppStore, surf it but when I press Install... I get the error message.
I know that my carrier, movistar (Spain) has an issue with secure webs (https), it's impossible to surf any secure web by now but I don´t know if this is related with my problems.
This happens with 2.1 and 2.2 firmware version.
I have the iPhone set in spanish from Spain and the time is right. By the way, using WiFi everything works fine, everything, I can search for videos on YouTube app and download apps from the AppStore.
I don´t know what more can I do, can someone help me? please. = (

FWIW, the only part of Java not installed is the Java Runtime Environment. Launch the Java Preferences.app in /Utilities and DL it when prompted. Then, enable plugins and Web Start apps.

The serial number that you might have is an upgrade version & it will be asking for a previous qualifying version serial number.
