    Michael,
Thanks. I haven't mixed down the audio or checked the number of tracks in Prefs. Good points.
As far as a mixdown goes, I'll definitely give it a try, though I wonder whether or not the tracks will be recognized during mix down recording - given that you can't hear either of those segments in playback. Just have to try.
Re the preferred number of allowed tracks - I'll go check as soon as I send this off, but I'm not sure that applies in this case, since the two Channels containing the segments that are pinked out are not in additional tracks. I should have mentioned that other audio clips and segments on the same Channels in the SAME tracks ARE heard in playback. As are two additional track in the 2nd Sequence. It's only when the two sequences are joined that the pink tinted segments can't be heard. Within the sequence the same audio cuts playback as they should. Thanks again &
    Best regards,
    David

  • IM 4.0.1 won't import any sound fx or mp3...Anybody know why?

Just started having this problem when I really need to use iM. The program has no problem with recorded sound, but won't import any sound at all. Hmmmmm.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Coolrebel

the installer keeps saying the program is running when it isn't and won't begin reinstallation.
Open Activity Monitor and force quit iTunesHelper. Then you can install, but it probably won't help.
It says the disk is 'locked' or full - which it isn't.

  • My back two speakers aren't producing any sound when using iTunes 7

I've only noticed this problem since upgrading, and it doesn't happen when I'm watching movies/listening to music with other programs, and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I have a 5.1 setup, so two in the front, two in the back, and one in the center, plus a subwoofer. The back two speakers won't output any noise though.

I had the same problem. First thing I did was open Quicktime and switch the settings from 16 bit to 24 bit. I still only had sound coming out of 2 of 5.1 speakers and it sounded all distorted(this *****). Then after reading some posts here I turned up the volume all the way and sound came out of all of my speakers and was clear. I still haven't seen a real fix for the problem and I think it is unacceptable. In summary:
16 bit setting works at all sound levels but only plays through 2 speakers no matter what your other setting are.
24 bit setting sounds like static in all 5.1 speakers unless you turn the volume up all the way in itunes and then adjust your volume using your sound card volume control.

  • My external mic is detected in garageband but won't input any sound

I have a US-144 midi interface and a compressor mic I'm trying to record with. They record fine on iMovie and are inputing just fine into the computer. However, in Garageband, though it detects one midi-input and lets me choose the US-144 as the input in Garageband preferences, it doesn't detect any sound coming in. Help!

    ... a compressor mic ...
    Condenser maybe?
As for your problem: have you selected the interface in GB's audio prefs? Have you created a real instrument (not a software instrument track) and selected the correct channel of your interface in the track info pane?

  • Ipod nano (2nd generation) won't play any sound

as the title says, my ipod nano (2nd generation) wont play any sound. the songs still play just fine, but no sound or very little sound is coming out. i've tried different headphones, none of them working. and then i attempted using my speakers which worked at the highest volume of both the ipod and the speakers, but very little sound came out and it sounded fuzzy.
after this, i reset my ipod, then restored it, and still no sound. so i reset the ipod again, making sure that everything under the setting was correct for the sound. i even tried putting the clicker on "headphones" and that didnt work either. it connects to the computer fine and has a fully charged battery.
    help please?
      Windows Vista

thank you for your suggestions, but everything seems to be working normally except the sound coming out of the ipod. i reset the volume limit and nothing. also, there was no volume limit in the summary tab.
again, thank you for your help... any other suggestions/ideas?

  • My iPad Air won't download any apps or app updates.

Okay, so my iPad Air has not been downloading any apps, when I tap update it brings the download icon up but does nothing. I stop it then start it again and the loading icon just spins constantly. It's sorta the same thing when I download an app or anything else. my wifi is fine and I can connect to the internet with safari or any of my apps, I even tried it from a friends network and it did the same thing.
A List of things I have tried:
    1. Turn off/on IPad
    2. Reset iPad, (holding lock and home for 15 seconds)
    3.  Reset network settings
    4. Reset all settings
    5. updated iPad to iOS 8.1.2
    6. signed out of iTunes threw settings>iTunes and App Store>Apple id> sign out, then restarted the iPad and signed back in
    7. Downloading things from a different and working wifi connection
none of that has fixed it, I seriously do not want to back up and restore if at all possible because 1 it's such a hassle and 2 I have such bad luck with backups, last time I did a backup and restored from it I lost the app data for 5 of my apps 3 of them being games I loved playing (infinity blade 3, gangster vegas, modern combat 4) because no matter what I did or how many times I restored from the backup those apps would not sync over to the iPad. I had read something that I should check the Downloads tab in the ITunes store to make sure there were no downloads stuck preventing other things from downloading, but recently I noticed the download tab is no longer an option on my bar in iTunes and no icon for it in edit. same with my iPhone 6. (why would Apple remove something like that?) I searched every inch of the iTunes store and even in view your apple ID i can't find the download queue anywhere.
Am I overlooking the download queue? Did they remove it from iOS 8? Anything else I can try besides restoring? X.x this has been going on for to long now and I just got a Jot Touch for my iPad and wanted to download some apps i could use it with but I can't because of this, I'm also missing out on holiday stuff and new games :/ If anyone can help me with this I would love you forever.

Yeah, I know I can restore it, but I might as well go ahead and try. I just finished a backup for icloud and itunes to make sure, I'll go ahead and restore it and set it up as new and see how that works. Seems like I have no other options at this point, I'd still like to know what they did with the Download tab in itunes store, if they removed it or if I'm just overlooking it.

  • New iPad 2 isn't producing any sounds?

Received replacement iPad 3 weeks ago and I haven't had problems until today. Sound is not functionally properly. Sound will not work without headphones. Mute is not on and volume is turned up. Any advice?

I don't fully understand what the System Reset does but I've found that it cures many ills.  It's easy, quick and harmless:
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.
A System Reset does not remove any apps, music, movies, etc. nor does it cause any settings to revert back to default.
Also, you might wish to download the iPad-2 User Guide.  Pay special attention to page 162.  Note that this Guide also applies to the iPad-1 with IOS 4.3 except for those functions that are not supported by the hardware.
    http://support.apple.com/manuals/#ipad
Finally,  the User Guide can be downloaded at no charge via iBooks and a less   comprehensive version of the Guide is included as a Safari bookmark.

  • My MacBook Air won't open any picture, please help

When i tried to open my pictures it shows me the file couldnt be opened because you dont have the permission to view it.
    please help

    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked
Allow user to administer this computer
Then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR..; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_; chmod -R -N ~ $_; } 2>&-
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take a few minutes to run, or perhaps longer if you have literally millions of files in your home folder. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password dialog will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
In the dialog, select the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if it's not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if it's not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • My Creative Inspire 6.1 speakers aren't producing any sound!

I have an Audigy2 Platinum Ex with Inspire 6.1 surround speakers.A few weeks ago, I stopped getting sounds from the speakers. The green light was on, and when I plugged in some headphones I could hear sound. Also, I have my system connected via a S/PDIF to a 5.1 receiver. This only allows me stereo sound (unless I play something pre encoded with Dolby 5.1/6.1 or DTS). I'd like to know WHAT IS THE MATTER!?!
    Thank you for your time.

Okay... I plugged the head phones into the VOLUME CONTROL/CONTROL POD of the speakers. All the cables are attached. I just ripped, er I should say unplugged everything and and retried from scratch. Same problem.
I think the Sub/LFE hub died. That could be the only possible explanation. HOW DO I GO ABOUT GETTING A REPLACEMENT?!? Do they even sell these anymore? I understand that they have been discontinued. What do I do? Can I send it in to you as an RMA?
    Give me alternatives... PLEASE!

    Dustin,
On the first point, when you say you plugged in headphones and they worked, do you mean you plugged them into the soundcard directly, or in the volume control/control pod of the speakers? Try them with another source if you can, and make sure all the cables are attached properly.
On the second point, this is normal. The connection you're using (coaxial or optical SPDIF) can only pass over a stereo PCM signal, or an encoded stream. You can read up more on this topic here.

    Good Morning gmcres,
If you are not hearing sound from your computer, take a look at the troubleshooting steps below.  Is this only happening in iTunes?  Are you able to hear system sounds (alerts, etc.)?
