My Airdrop doesn't work

My airdrop doesn't work even though I have it turned it on the 'everyone' setting. It's the same for my friends that have iPhone 5's/iPod touch 5's or above. When I go to share a photo or website the airdrop section comes up saying that no one has it turned on. The only time it's ever worked was when I got my iPad mini and 2 iPhone 5s with it turned on but even then it's taken over 1 min for everyone to come up? Please help

For those who have the same problem I took my iPhone into Apple on Saturday to see what was going on and they did a diagnostic test and didn't find any problems so they took it away to open it up and as well see if it could connect it to some Bluetooth devices. When they came back they said that the Bluetooth wasn't working and so they replaced the phone for me. So if u do have this problem it's probably best to take it to apple and see what they can do

  • AirDrop doesn't work on my MacBook

    Hi
I have a macbook pro retina display, bought in early 2013. Running with 3 GHz Intel Core i7 and 8GB RAM.
I used to have OS X Mountain Lion and i upgraded it with the Mavericks version 10.9.5 (the worst OS) and since then my airdrop is not working.
I tried removing my ID and re adding it in "users and groups",  I turned off my firewall, I enabled both SMB and AFP file sharing and yet still I can't get my macbook to pair with either my iPhone 5 or iPhone 6. the radar just keep spinning and other devices won't show on my airdrop page.
    Any help will be appreciated!

AirDrop between Macs and mobile devices is an announced feature of OS X 10.10 ("Yosemite"), which hasn't been released yet. It doesn't work in Mavericks.

  • Airdrop doesn't work at all - Yosemite/iOS 8

I have two MacBook Airs (2012 and 2013 - both support AirDrop) in front of my and one iPhone 5s. I'm trying to AirDrop a file from the iPhone to either of the MacBooks at this point. It doesn't work.
    Here's what I see:
    1) Both MacBooks have the AirDrop window open.
    2) MacBook 1 sees MacBook 2 in the AirDrop window.
    3) MacBook 2 DOES NOT see MacBook 1.
    4) iPhone does not see either MacBook and is not seen either.
All devices are on the same WiFi network, have BT turned on. The iPhone and MacBook 2 are on the same Apple ID, while MacBook 1 is on my girlfriend's Apple ID.
    Can anyone explain/help?

For anyone who might be interested: the problem actually solved itself. I tried it a couple more times (later) and then on the next day it magically started working by itself (I did not change a thing on any of the devices). Problem solved, although I don't know how.

  • Iphone 6 - Airdrop doesn't work

i have a problem with my iphone 6, ios 8. When i try to send files thru airdrop from iphone to mac, it doesn't work because my iphone doesn't see my mac. Although when i try to send file from mac to iphone, it work. Can you help me?

    Nothing,
    it doesn't work
Apple need to find a quick solution to this buggy "feature".
I'm tired of having my Samsung-loving friend show me they can exchange files via bluetooth.
Ok, they can also share malware, and we don't, but the sad truth is we can't share a thing
    Willingly or not...
It's far quicker to send pictures via email
(which is something of a paradox, given that the email server is God knows where and the distance between my iPhone and my Mac is 20cm...)

  • Airdrop doesn't work since upgrading to Yosemite

    Hi,
My wife and I have an MBP each, both running Yosemite with all available patches.  If we open airdrop on our macs we both see each other.  If I drag a file over her in airdrop and drop it, nothing happens.  She doesn't get a prompt and nor do I, the file doesn't seem to appear on her computer either.
If she sends me a file however, it works as expected.
Before Yosemite when I did this it would bring up a bubble asking if I wanted to send, I'd click it, she'd click the bubble asking if she wants to receive it and the file would appear.

    Hello nzgeek,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like AirDrop works in one direction but not in both on one computer. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

  • Airdrop doesn't work

    Hi,
I cant seem to airdrop files from my macbook pro, when clicking on airdrop in finder, it doesnt seem to find my ipad mini or iphone 5, nothing is displayed.
the ipad and iphone can see each other, but not the mac.
ive tried adding the ipad to one wireless network, and the mac to the other (as i had read that having them on the same SSID didnt work) - but thats made no difference.
so i have to enable airdrop on the mac?

Right now, Airdrop works fine when your transferring data between, say, a Macbook Pro, iMac, and MacBook Air. Or if you want to Airdrop between mobile gear, like the iPad, iPad Mini, and iPod Touch.
For some reason, it isn't possible to Airdrop between, say, an iPad and MacBook Pro. To remedy this, I use DropBox for my transfers, and it works almost as easily.
    Post with your results!

  • Airdrop doesn't work on my iPhone 5s

i have my iphone 5s and i use to sen my files via airdrop but since two week ago is not possible . i don't see anyone of my contacts and also the same problem with my imac

You cannot use airdrop between an iPhone and a Mac. Only between iPhones and iPads.

  • My airdrop is not working

I restart my computer and use airdrop and after that use airdrop doesn't work again. It seems to only work once. After that one use I open airdrop and I cannot see other people's macbooks on airdrop. Why is this happening? Can I fix this? or do I have to keep restarting my computer over and over to use airdrop?

Also, we have wifi on in both the systems and also the airdrop window is open in both.
Also both the Machines are MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion installed in them.

  • I tried to airdrop Civilization V from a Macbook Pro with Mountain Lion to a Macbook Pro with Lion and it doesn't work. Other apps have but Civ V has not.

Likely because it's a not self contained and/or it's game and copy protected, so install it via the developers instructions instead, which likely means it will have ot be uninstalled off the first machine, the developer contacted for a new license key before installing on the newer machine.
If you want it on both machines, you will need to likely buy another license.
Most developers are fine with transfering license between machines, you have to contact them.
They just want to make sure it's only on one machine so they are not getting robbed.

What are you trying to AirDrop to? Another iOS device or a Mac?

  • Airdrop using "contacts only" doesn't work on my iPhone 6+

I have an iPhone 6 Plus, an iPad Air 2, and an iPad Mini, all running iOS 8.1.2 and would like to use Airdrop to move documents between them.  In addition, I would prefer to use the "Contacts Only" feature of Airdrop.  It works between the iPads, but only works between the iPhone when I set Airdrop to "Everyone" instead of "Contacts Only".  Is this a software bug or am I doing something wrong?

Yes.  I use the identical contact list in both the iPhone and the iPads.

  • Airdrop isn't working on random devices

I'm using an iPhone 5s, and have Airdrop set to 'everyone'. My girlfriend has an iPhone 5s (also set to 'everyone'), and I use two Macbooks, one for work, one for personal use. None of these devices are showing up on any of the other devices Airdrop lists. iPhone to Macbook, iPhone to iPhone, Macbook to Macbook. Nothing.

    Levi,
Mobile Safari on iOS usually doesn't work well with the javascript behavior you've coded. It should ideally bring up a pop-up dialog asking for permission to open a new pop-up window. If disabled, it wont open a new tab.
Instead, you could use a method that is written here: http://css-tricks.com/unobtrusive-page-changer/
It rules out Javascript, uses plain form and submits via PHP, not JS.
