Try shutting down all items on your network and erstarting them one at a time. Most likely your DHCP server device has gotten stuck.

Should my text messages be blue instead of green after the iOS 5.0 update on my iPhone 4?

Blue messages are iMessages. Dont worry they work pretty much the same as txts
Instead of being sent via the sms service through your operator they're sent either as cellular data or wifi if you have it. The idea being that it functions in much the same way as BBM does on a Blackberry.
You can IIRC turn them off.
iOS 5 automatically determines if the intended recipient is using iOS5, and if they are, automatically sends the message as an iMessage rather than a txt. The colour change is designed to let you know whats what.

  • Help please? Programming the Phillps 144 Remote's Colored Buttons ABCD[Yellow,Blue,Red,Green]

I have the Phillips 144 Remote. I wish to program one of the Colored bottons at the bottom of the remote by learning from the output of an other remote.
    I have a Panasonic TC_P50UT50TV.
Today I successfully programed my Phillips 144 remote for this TV.
There is one TV function that I need. It isn't obvious if it is available already on the Remote. Tried most of the buttons-none seemed to act upon the INPUT control of the TV.
    The single function I wish to have on the REMOTE;
To be able to vary the TV's INPUT [such as HDMI 1,HDMI 2,AV1,AV2]
Can I use the colored buttons,? If so, how can I program those buttons by LEARNING from my TV's remote?
If I can't program the colored buttons, is there any other button that I can program for changing the TV's INPUT?
    Solved!

    Thanks for the suggestion.
    It works!
    Exactly as you told me.

Assuming you have programmed the remote correctly to turn on and off your TV, have you tried hitting the TV button at the top of the remote and then the A/V button (also labeled Input) at the bottom? Works for me on all of my TVs.

  • Airport Express will not allow any downloads over the network, why is this and what can I do to fix it?

I own an Apple Airport Express station. I am attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the airport is hooked into the network via ethernet cord. While the first few months of operation have gone smoothly for this router, over the last few weeks any and all downloads have failed to complete over the airport. I moved outside and used the official University's wifi and the downloads worked, meaning it's not a UNC network problem (to my knowledge). All file types affected include song downloads through iTunes, app downloads on my iPhone, software downloads like Google Chrome, Finale, Microsoft Word updates, etc. I have tried this on both my Lenovo with Windows 7 and my Macbook Pro to troubleshoot hardware problems and it doesn't work on either of them. I have restored the router to factory settings twice now and still it does not work. Sorry for the length of this, just wanted to pass along as much info as I could.

The fact that you can access all downloads while the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) is not directly attached to the University's network indicates that the University's IT department may not allow downstream routers connected to their network without first registering it with them. This is often the case, and it is not uncommon that most universities do not allow you to do so in the first place. I would suggest that you start by contacting your IT department to see if this is allowed, and if so, they should be able to assist you with the proper configuration of your AX.

  • My PC is connected to my airport by Ethernet. I can connect to the network, but not the internet. My wireless devices can access the internet

My PC is connected to AirPort Extreme by ethernet, I can access the network, but not the internet. The wireless devices on the extreme can access the internet

    Hey DM,
Is the Wireless(WL) router signal coming through the wired-router?
My ISP requires that my Wireless Router is identified from their end. I use AirPort Express, so they need its MAC address from the router. Without that, my network will show up, but my ISP doesn't recognize it and won't allow it to route he internet. I don't know your exact situation though.
Can other wireless computers access the internet? If they can through the WL router, then it might be the MacBook. If they can't, then you might want to contact your ISP and ask if they can see your wireless router?
    Let us know.

  • How can I force my Second Generation Airport Extreme to use 2.4GHz when extending the network of my Fifth Generation Airport Extreme?

    Hi,
Would be great if anyone can help.  I have setup my Second Generation Airport Extreme to extend the network of the Fifth Generation Airport Extreme.  The 2nd generation Airport extreme seems to automatically get set to use 5GHz vs 2.4GHz.  I would like to force it to use 2.4GHz so my older devices can connect to it.  Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mike.

Enable the option to assign a different name to the 5 GHz network on your 5th Gen AirPort Extreme.
Then, the 2nd Gen Extreme will only "see" the 2.4 GHz network, and extend that signal.
If you are not sure how to do this, post back to tell us what operating system you are using on your computer so we will know what version of AirPort Utility you are using....so we can provide the correct steps for the setup.

  • Whats yellow warning sign icon at the network drive icon telling me?

    Hi!
I thougt I was clever by building up a Linux Server hosting 1,5Gb Harddisk via AFP, so it looks like a Mac to al others in the local net (Gbit network) - copying to it churns out 70MB/s so it's way faster than the FW400 port my iMac 17" allows.
Now after copying all 650 GB DV-Movie material to have it neatly organized under iMovie 08,
I can't get iMovie to open that network drive to show its DV-Contents.
Same procedure with a FW400 drive succeeds.
    Any clues???

Phoned up 3 they still had my problem on file.told me to go to my local 3 store and ask for a replacement sim.Got the sim the assistant inserted it hay presto no red dot, just waiting for the new sim to be activated.
Thanks for your advice much apprieciated

  • My airport light is yellow

It blinks yellow, instead of being steady green, most of the time but I see no difference in my internet connection. Could it be going out?
    TIA,
    Connie

Suggest that you do the following on your Mac.....
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilties > AirPort Utility
    Click Manual Setup
Click directly on the word Status (2nd line)
A window will open to explain why the AirPort Express is whining
It might be something as simple as a notice that an update is available.

  • My Airport Extreme is flashing yellow, but I still have internet connections and iPhone access to the network.  Does this mean that my network has been hacked or something else?

The light on my Airport Extreme is flahing yellow, but I still have network access to the internet with no issues.  PLus, I can still get into the network with my iPhone, too.
DO I have a problem (such as net work being hacked)?
Was going to shop and don't want my cc number scattered all over creation.
    Thanks.

    Suggest the following:
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click Manual Setup
Click directly on the word Status (2nd line on the summary page)
A window will open to explain why the amber light is blinking and offer suggested actions to remedy things.
If everything seems to be working OK, it might simply be a message that an update is available for your AirPort Extreme.
Now you know what to do next time the amber light is blinking.

  • Airport Network status says Internet failed and I can not connect wirelessly. Ethernet connection works fine. Why can't I connect?

A few days ago, my Airport Express wireless connection stopped working. The network status lights for Internet and Servers are RED and indicate failure. My Ethernet connection works fine. Any idea what my problem is?
    Thanks,
    LivingSuccess

You could try a Safe Boot - restart holding down the shift key until the grey progress bar appears. When it's booted restart as normal from the Apple menu.
If that doesn't help you could try an SMC reset:
    SMC Reset
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer’s power cord and disconnect peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.

  • The ethernet ports suddenly stopped working on airport extreme wondering why and how to fix the problem

I use the ethernet cable to connect my airport extreme to a linksys router to extend the network but suddenly all the ethernet cables on airport extreme stopped working and now the linksys won't get a connection. I was wondering why this might of happened and if there is a solution to fix the problem. Also i wondering if i should get rid of the linksys and get and airport express to just extend the network.

The Extreme to Express without the Linksys router is the most compatible way to go but I would first check out the Extreme by itself and make sure everything is working properly

  • Mac G5 Airport "NO internet Access" but is connected to WRT54G network

I have read thru prior threads and nothing has worked. I have connected to the internet once. I have upgraded the firmware to the wrt54. I have tried both PPPoe and DCHP to connect as well as using the built in ethernet. Why will it connect to the network but have no internet access?
The network status on my G5 says "Airport connected and You have internet access through Airport. But when I try through Safari, the screen comes up "no internet connection". Currently my wrt54 is 192.168.2.1 and I have set the security to allow access to the router. Can someone layout what my mac and router settings should be, If they are working for them? After trying somemany different things, I worry that I am not trying the right sequence of settings anymore. Help!
    Many thanks!

I have upgraded my router firmware to the latest, at least what is available here at linksys. The airport does retrieve the address from the router, but no go. Should it be set to PPPoe or not? If it isn't. it doesn't look for the host. When its off, the network status says connected to the linksys network, internet access through Airport, but still no Safari. I don't understand, if it is connected to the network, what is preventing it from connecting to the internet, which is available on the router? My DHCP server is enabled, I have changed the address to 192.168.2.1, 50 clients, but there are no DNS static address'. Should I input some DNS Address? My router is connected to a DSL modem and hardwired to a PC through the net connection. This is how I access the router. Whoops gotta get to work...........
    Thanks for your help

  • Airport express to extend the network

    Hi all.
I was using a Mac connected to a wireless access point (acer) which is gateway to the Internet.
When I installed the Mac everything went smooooth!
Now I added an Airport Express thingie, in order to have more signal strength and use airtunes.
If I set up the airport as a separate network, Airtunes works and I have to 'switch' networks to go online.
When I try to integrate both networks, everything fails, and if I go with the wizard, I end up with hard-resetting the airport express to make it work again.
I suspect it is something in the network configuration, that I understand I NEED to do manually.
However, I didn't figure it out yet.
    I have the AP-gateway-to-internet at 192.168.1.254
    Airport at 10.0.1.1
And the mac switches between the two neighborhoods when I switch network (192.168.1.100 or 10.0.1.2)
    Hints?

You are doing two things wrong.
First off, both airport express units need to be on the same subnet (using the same IP address range) in order to extend the range of your wireless network.
Second, and more importantly, Airport docs state that Airport Expresses can only be used to extend the network from another Apple Airport Express or Extreme base station. Sell your acer on eBay, and pickup another airport express.
Once you have two Airport Express units, just follow the Airport Admin Utility instructions for setting up WDS and Air Tunes. Auto config of the remote airport express will place it on the same subnet as the main airport express.

  • Airport status has yellow dot instead of green, why?

trying to set up a computer to computer network between my old ibook g3 (osx 10.3.9) and my mini (10.4.2). If I look at network status on the ibook, the airport card has a green dot. the status on the mini has a yellow dot. I'm unable to see either computer from the other. I have the same share settings on both computers. In Finder just tried Go/Connect to Server/Jerrys-iBook.local, and the same from the ibook the mini, and neither comptuer would connect.
What am I doing wrong here? The only difference besides the OS is the mini has an Extreme and the iBook has Airport (b vs. g).
    Any help would be appreciated.
I want to set up VNC, but I'm not going to even install it until I get this sorted out.

You need to "create" the computer-to-computer network on only one of the two Macs; the other Mac should be configured to "join" the wireless network that has been created. You might start by reviewing http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=166640 and see if it corresponds to what you did.
If you think this has been properly set up, follow this advice I've copied from elsewhere for setting up file sharing between the two Macs:
The first step is: on each computer, go into System Preferences, then Sharing, and turn on "Personal File Sharing". On that page, you'll see, at the top, the computer's name (which you can change), and at the bottom, the IP number (eg 10.0.1.2), which you may need as an alternative.
Then, on each computer, go to Finder, then click on Network. You may straightaway see the other computer appear - you can click on it, click "Connect", and then either log in as a user (it has to be a user that's been set up on that machine), or a guest.
As a guest, you can access all Public folders on the computer.
As a user, you can access that user's Home folder
As an admin user, you can access the whole hard drive.
So, if you have different user accounts set up on the computers, it's best to use Guest access and then put the files you're sharing in your user's Public folder.
Now, if that computer doesn't immediately appear, go to the Finder, click cmd-K (to open the Connect to Server dialogue), and type in
    afp://ip-address-of-other-computer
    eg afp://10.0.1.2
You'll then get the same login dialogue as above.

  • HT5211 Airport Express 802.11n (2nd Generation) flashing 3 yellow then 3 green.

It reports Error -6742 when access is attempted using the Airport Utility and connecting directly to it via the Ethernet port. I have tried resetting several times with no change in the condition.
