My airport express and utility won't connect....

I'm receiving errors when trying to connect either Airfoil or Aiport Utility.
Airfoil keeps telling me that I need to turn it on.
Aiport Utility recognizes that the express it there but yet won't connect in order for me to configure.  It gives me the error message "Make Sure your Apple Wi-Fi base station is plugged in and in range of your computer or connected via Ethernet and try again. (-6753)"
I've restarted the Express, I've hard reset it.  I've reinstalled the Airport Utility and still no luck.  I've even tried connecting through itunes and it won't connect.  Itunes recognizes that my express is there it just won't connect.
I've upgraded the aiport utility to 5.5.3  and the Airport Express to 7.6.
Is anyone experiencing this problem and if so, have you resolved it?  After doing extensive searches online it doesn't seem that anyone has figured this out and possibly a problem with the firmware!
Let me know please!
Andrew

  • HT1145 I have an older plug in version of Airport Express and am trying to connect it to my wifi network to boost coverage but it is not connecting to my network.

I have an older plug in version of Airport Express and am trying to connect it to my wifi network to boost coverage but it is not connecting to my network.

What is the make & model of the wireless router that you are trying to "boost" with the AirPort Express? Is your Express an 802.11g or 802.11n model? Is the connection between routers going to be a wired or wireless one?

  • I am on my 2nd airport express. It won't connect to the internet anymore. How long do they typically last?

I have an airport express. It hasn't been used in almost a year. It was working perfectly then. I tried to connect it to the internet and it won't connect. I've done a reset. This is my 2nd one. It seems that every time I move, i have to get another one. Anyone else have this problem?

    Hi Melissa518,
If you are continuing to have issues with your Airport Express after a reset, you may want to try a Factory Default Reset as outlined in the following article:

  • Solved: AirPort Express and AirTunes Audio Distortion Connected to a Stereo

*The problem*: Terrible sound distortion while using AirPort Express AirTunes features. Even when nothing was plugged in, there would be a buzzing noise.
*The setup*: AirPort Express connected via 3.5mm stereo jack to a pair of computer stereo speakers. Note: This post does not apply to you if you are using an optical Toslink between the AirPort Express and your speakers. iTunes installed on a Mac. AirTunes setup to allow music to stream wirelessly to AirPort Express and speakers.
*The solution*: The AirPort Express needs to be grounded. The included AC tip is only two prong. In the US, the third prong (round) is used for grounding.
Therefore you just need to attach the three prong AC tip. This is not included with the AirPort Express. What you need is the Apple Power Extension Cord which has a 3 prong tip.
    Example:
    http://www.amazon.com/Adapter-Extension-Apple-PowerBook-Notebook/dp/B002V4XKRS
This is the same extension cord that comes with most Apple notebooks.
    Hope this helps!

    Bob,
This is really simple so no instructions are necessary.
Plug in the new Express when you get it and have it "Join the existing network"...
Give the iTunes Music section a name like "Front Room Stereo" and that's it...
Plug the stereo into the Express and select it in iTunes for playing music.

  • Can see Airport Express, but iTunes won't connect and more..

I'm running Mac OSX 10.4.2 on an Aluminium PowerBook G4, connected to an Airport Extreme Base Station - which can use the internet etc easily. I have an Airport Express, which can be seen & changed in Airport Admin, and can be seen in iTunes - but can not be connected to in iTunes - it tries for about 30 seconds, and then gives up, not even an error message? I'm not sure if it's a related issue, buit an old iBook running OSX 10.3.9, connects to the same Airport Express, no problems. But the PowerBook, whilst it can see the iBook, won't connect to the iBook via Airport - it tells me it is not operational, or something.
Can anyone think of anything that may fix the problem?
    Thanks in advance.

Is this a new problem on this Powerbook - or has it never worked? While there are many (and some very obscure) causes for this problem, one of the more common causes is firewall software of some sort. This also includes applications designed to monitor outgoing network data (like spyware) on a Mac, like "Little Snitch".

  • Airport Express and Samsung 7000 TV connectivity, won't engage

Got an airport express to extend range to tv room.
Set up via wireless computer working, green lite on
Samsung TV recognizes primary network, but not guest network
Will not accept password from primary network?
Experimented Changed wpa2 around didn't work
Reset many times still no luck
    Any help out there?

Welcome to the discussion area, Thomas!
I haven't worked with Samsung products, so I downloaded the user manual to get a better understanding of the connection process with this product.
The manual states that "You must use the “Samsung Wireless LAN Adapter” (WIS09ABGN, WIS09ABGN2, WIS10ABGN) to use a wireless network"
    You have this adapter, correct?
The manual also states that "If you select the Pure High-throughput (Greenfield) 802.11N mode and set your AP's Security Encryption type to WEP, TKIP or TKIPAES (WPS2Mixed), your Samsung TV will not support the connection"
I'm not sure that this is saying, so you may want to check with Samsung about this. Apparently, if you select the +Pure-High-throughput (Greenfield) mode+, this is in effect saying that most wireless networks will not work or be supported since almost all wireless networks use WEP, TKIP or TKIPAES encryption.
Is there an option to not use the +Pure-High-throughput (Greenfield) mode+ ? That appears to be your only chance to connect using wireless with this model if the statement above means what I think it means.

  • My airport express 802.11g won't connect to my mac mini

    Hi
I have recently purchased an Airport Express 802.11g and I can't get it to connect to my Mac mini. It shows up in the wifi menu at the top of the screen but when I click on it it says
This version of AirPort Utility doesn’t support this base station. Go to AirPort Service and Support for more information.
    Can anyone help?
    Huntymc

Have you tried restarting the system? Many times that will resolve the issue?
If you are still having problems do you have a USB mouse that you can use to open the Bluetooth preferences and then either reconnect to the mouse, or delete the pairing, then reconnect to the mouse?

  • I changed my password on Airport Express and now can't connect in iTunes. It does not ask for password ,I just see trying to connect and it fails. How do I enter new password in iTunes when it just keeps trying to connect ?

When I select the Airport Express as Remote Speaker in Itunes I just see trying to connect and it can't connect.
I changed my password on the Airport and I don't see where I can put in the new password in Itunes.
This problem is on my Imac. On my Mac Pro a window came up asking for password to connect because it was the first time.
I can connect on the Mac Pro but not my Imac.

Update on my problem connecting in Itunes with my Airport Express. Not sure if anything I tried made a difference
but I finally got the Pop up window saying this device requires a Password. I entered the password and I can once again use the Airport Express as a remote speaker.

  • When I restarted my apple airport express 1 it won't connect

    Please help me

Also make sure you're using the latest version of the AirPort Utility software on your computer.

  • ITunes 7 - Airport Express not visible, won't connect to remote speakers

I upgraded to iTunes 7, and now my Aiport Express does not show up when I open either the Aiport Admin Utility, or the Airport Express Assistant. The remote speakers I have do not show up in iTunes. Evenything worked perfectly on the previous version of iTunes. Anyone have any idea?
My wireless LAN (which is enabled through the Airport Express) is still working fine.
    Thanks!

    hmmmmm.
i'm not trying to get rid of you here, but it might be worth also checking-in/reposting over at the Airport for Windows forum. when Airtunes things get sticky, i generally defer to iFelix or RJ in WI, and they spend a lot more time over there than they do here.
(traffic is so heavy in here at the moment that this thread might be buried out of sight before an AirTunes guru gets to see you.)

  • Airport Express and AT&T Microcell connectivity problems

Anyone have a solution to connecting the Airport EXPRESS to the Microcell tower? I have only one jack in both the modem and the airport and cannot get the tower to work. I've looked at some forums and none had a solution that worked for me. AT&T cannot figure it out and I'm frustrated! I've gone back to my old Belkin router and now have an unreliable connection and no airtunes
    Any tips? Thanks!

    Variations on a theme
So my "free" MicroCell finally arrives and I hook it up between the DSL Box and my Time Capsule. After the waiting period and a very long call to AT&T MicroCell assistance we determine that the "third party" (that would be the Time Capsule/Airport) might be the cause of the varying DSL signal strength to the iMac and via Airport to my wife's iBook in the other room - the iBook suddenly isn't connected to the network anymore and tells me that the network has timed out....and after a while and several attempts to connect to the network the iBook is on line again. Didn't have this problem before the MicroCell. AT&T did offer that I could talk to their connection specialists and what a surprise - for only $49. Did I mention that my DSL service is from AT&T? and that only the lowest possible service level is available at my address, here on the dark side of the moon.
It would appear that the MicroCell does not have to be between the DSL Box and the Time Machine, but could be plugged into the Time Machine and still operate - of course then the Time Machine would really be a "third party device" and responsible for any slow down of DSL signal to the MicroCell. Anyone had any luck with a hook up like this?
I understand that the MicroCell needs a minimum of 1.5Mbps Download speed to operate properly. I have actually seen the signal strength that high a few times here....of course that is signal coming through the MicroCell and the Time Machine before it gets to the iMac

  • Printer connected to Airport Express USB port won't come online after firmware 7.6 upgrade. I've tried backing up to 7.5.2, but it still shows offline. It is a Canon iP4600 printer and I'm running OS 10.6.8. I've powered everything down and still no go.

Printer connected to Airport Express USB port won't come online after firmware 7.6 upgrade. I've tried backing up to 7.5.2, but it still shows offline. It is a Canon iP4600 printer and I'm running OS 10.6.8. I've powered everything down and still no go. I've connected the printer directly to my MacBook's USB port and it works fine. Any suggestions?

I have an iP4500, which I assume is quite similar to your model.
I had to reset the printing system to get things printing again. Only takes a few minutes and no problems at all since I did it a week ago or so.
Plug the printer into the USB port on the Express and restart the printer.
Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock) and then open Print and Fax
Right-Click in the printer area on the left and select Reset Printing System
Then click the + (plus) button at the bottom of the printer list to install the printer again.

  • I have an airport express and want to know how to set up two different wireless networks. One with 5GHZ and one with 2.4GHZ so different devices can connect to either.

I have an airport express and want to know how to set up two different wireless networks. One with 5GHZ and one with 2.4GHZ so different devices can connect to either. I have an iphone 4 that will not connect to 5ghz.
    thank you!

Your AirPort Express is already providing two separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, but each band is using the same wireless network name.
This is the default setup for the AirPort Express, which is recommended for most users. The theory here is that devices will automatically connect to the best quality signal based on their capabilities and distance in relation to the AirPort Express.
It is possible to assign a different name to the 5 GHz band, and then "point" devices at that network to connect. Some users swear by this option.....(I am not one of them).... but you might want to give it a try to see how it works for you.
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click on the AirPort Express
Click Edit in the smaller window that appears
Click the Wireless tab at the top of the next window
Click Wireless Options near the bottom of the next window
Enter a check mark next to 5 GHz Name.....which will automatically add "5 GHz" to the network name....so you can identify it
Click Save, then click Update and wait a full minute for the Express to restart
Now you will need to "point" your 5 GHz capable devices at the 5 GHz network name.  2.4 GHz devices will connect to your "other" network name.

  • My airports express and airport extreme have started saying they can't be read by airport utility. How do I fix this?

I have recently been re-jigging my network and in the process have restored my 2 airport expresses and one airport extreme to their default settings. Everything was working 100% fine until suddenly my netywork won't work and when I click on any of my airports to see what's happening airport utility says they can't be read. Can anyone help me solve this?

It is on DHCP & NAT under router mode yet my isp is still the one issuing ip addresses to my devices instead of the router issuing them
