My AMD Catalyst Doesnt Work

My Laptop's AMD catalyst Control Center Doesnt Work. It used to Work But I Accidently Deleted One of the AMD catalyst Files. And then After that I cant use it. I got no Recovery. Everytime I click Configurable graphics. It shows a CLI.exe - Application Error. The exception unknown software exception (0xe0434352) occured in the application at location 0x788d8b9c. I tried Redownloading The AMD catalyst thing with the suitable one But it still doesnt work And happened the same thing again. Anyone can help me solve this problem? I was using AMD Website to download it.

Means you need to go to your HP driver site and redownload the AMD driver for your O/S and reinstall it again and hopefully this should fix the problem.

  • [SOLVED] AMD Catalyst + Xinerama + Compiz

    Compiz + xf86-video-ati = works
Compiz + AMD Catalyst = works
AMD Catalyst + Xinerama = works
    all three, no so good.
I believe the issue is related to this:
    $ compiz-check

    Distribution: Arch Linux
    Desktop environment: Xfce
Graphics chip: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Barts PRO [Radeon HD 6800 Series]

At least one check had to be skipped:

Any idea how I set a rendering method? I did some research with not much luck.
    All the other tests pass:

    GL_ARB_draw_indirect, GL_ARB_draw_instanced,
    GL_EXT_copy_buffer, GL_EXT_copy_texture, GL_EXT_direct_state_access,
I've already enabled indirect rendering and generated a xorg.conf via
    aticonfig --initial=dual-head --screen-layout=left
Of course after creating the xconf I had to use CCC to switch to xinerama. Is xinerama the only way for me to have a single desktop which spans both my monitors (while using the propriety ATI drivers of course)?
After creating xorg.conf I edited it to include
    "Section "Extensions"
    Option "Composite" "Enable"
    EndSection
    and
    Section "ServerLayout"
    Option "AIGLX" "True"
    EndSection
    and I restarted X.
    Solved:
    gksu amdcccle
    - Disable Xinerama
    - Display Manager > Multi-Display > select "Multi-display desktop with display(s) 2"
    - Reboot

  • FFMPEG screencast is not working for WoW under Wine (AMD Catalyst)

Hi all. I'm trying to record game video using ffmpeg, but each time when I actually switch my focus to the game window, the picture freezes. Here is the example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4kfKpgcTAE This is World of Warcraft running under wine. I use AMD Catalyst beta-driver from the unofficial repository (mentioned here) on x64 system (lib32-catalyst-utils also installed).
    I tried this:
    ffmpeg -f x11grab -r 30 -i :0.0 -f alsa -i hw:0,0 -acodec flac -vcodec ffvhuff test.mkv (from wiki)
and some variations I found over the Internet:
    ffmpeg -f x11grab -r 30 -i :0.0 -f alsa -i hw:0,0 -acodec flac -vcodec ffvhuff test.mkv
    None of them worked.
I guess it's due to driver, because when I tried recordMyDesktop tool a few days ago with xf86-video-ati driver it recorded wideo. But when I switched to proprietary drider, both ffmpeg and recordMyDesktop are not working. I'm not going to change video driver because it's performance in video-games, so I'm wondering if there is any solution to my problem (except windowed-mode!).
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I had similar problems when trying to record OpenGL games with FFMpeg CLI. I use the catalyst-test drivers for my AMD HD 6870.
You could try downloading SimpleScreenRecorder via yaourt; get both, including the lib32-simplescreenrecorder.
There will be some conflicts, but choosing to replace some files hasn't caused any problems.
Make sure you have both  lib32-libpulse and lib32-alsa-plugins installed (pacman).
Once everything is in set, open SSR (SimpleScreenRecorder); set audio input to:
    - Record Microphone
    - Backend: PulseAudio
    - Source: Monitor of Built-in Audio Analog Stereo
    I chose to output as MKV ; H.264 ; MP3 @128
Select Start Recording and fire up WoW. I was able to playback the game-play video (full screen 1920x1080) with audio.
You may need different settings from what I have, notably the audio, but it should record in full screen mode.
    Good luck !

  • I cant go on youtube with the wifi from airport express, its alway show that the webpage not found so I try to connect the lan to my mac ,its work. Anyone know why amd how to fix it. (only youtube and google doesnt work)

  • AMD Catalyst with Linux Mint

    Dear all,
I ahve a Lenovo G10 laptop, which has an AMD RADEON R5 M230 graphic card. I have downloaded the linux drivers  AMD Catalyst for my OS (Linux mint 17.1) from their site but when I start the installation process said that "hardware doesnt support the drivers". If anyone has a solution let me know

It's up to you to decide wheter it's enough or not ! If it works for you...
As mentioned above you can use vgaswitcheroo to verify. For this you need to enable _early_ KMS. (Forgot the _early_ in above post.)
    What would be the advantage?

  • MSI GF4 Ti-4200 doesnt work with WindowsXP

I can't get the MSI display tools to work - it crashes,
the vbios.dll doesnt load, it also crashes.
the tv in doesnt work ,it crashes
the tv out doesnt work ,it crashes.
all the supplied software also crashes "application has encountered an error and cannot continue. sorry for any inconvenience"
the intervideo software (windvr, wincoder, winproducer) and MSI PVI software all crashes as well.
what's the deal with this stuff?  ?(
I have a Dual AMD athlon Tyan thunder k7 motherboard,
MSI Ti-4200-VTD video card and MSI tv anywhere card.
is there any resolution for this?

I'm sorry gfilitti if I don't have my system listed, but I thought my question was pretty simple...
Has ANYONE been able to make the InterVideo WinProducer 2 software, that comes with the retail version of the MSI G4Ti4200-VTD64 card, work successfully under the Windows XP Home or Pro operating system?
If the answer is YES, then I will begin investigating why my system can't.
If the answer is NO, then I only ask for other people's recommendations of what software WILL work in place of that. I NEED those functions to work. That's why I paid extra for the VIVO.
All we've heard so far in this thread are NO votes. I would like to see just how widespread this is. If I can find ONE person who claims it works fine on his/her computer under Windows XP, then my NEXT question would be if they had to do anything different to make it run, or was it just a straight install? Did they add the program patch available from the MSI website? See where I'm going with this?
If you would REALLY like my system details, here ya go...

BTW, I would think when investigating a program's FLAT refusal to run, that the MOST important things aren't listed in these signature files. It has to do with what ELSE is running at the same time. Which services are running and which are NOT? What memory resident programs are loaded at boot-up? Any service packs installed? How about any security patches from Microsoft? Which anti-virus software (if any)? Which DirectX version? Personal firewall? Etc., etc.
Granted, the hardware DOES have a factor, but I feel all of these are MORE important factors than the speed or brand of a persons hardware. I look at the signitures more as bragging rights than anything else.
Now, this is just my opinion and may not reflect the feelings of the more sane people around me.
    Cheers!

  • Amd catalyst & built-in display driver clash

    Hello,
I have a core i5 HP pavilion dv6 entertainment notebook pc with the following specs:
    Processor: 2.53Ghz
    RAM: 8 Gb
    Operating system: Win 7 x64
AMD Radeon HD 6500M/5600/5700 Series: 1 GB
    System Model: 3141se
I had a recovery partition on my laptop but a while back when I tried to run it, I kept on getting the same error message " your partition is of GPT style or something like that" and I had to wipe the whole drive and tried recovering from the backup DVDs, without any luck.
Having said that, I installed another copy of Win 7 with the original key provided and it was working fine. A couple of days back I installed a fresh copy of windows and now the problem I am facing is something like that:
Built-in intel display and AMD display driver installs, but I dont see anything in adapter section. Which means no graphics card is installed. When ever I install AMD catalyst driver, my windows turn black and stay that way forever (even though windows in running normally).
Whenever I disable built-in display driver from "device manager" it  works fine. But I have had no luck installing AMD catalyst control, I tried literally every version available.
Kindly, help me fix this issue. My Laptop is a crap without the graphics card.
    quick help would be appreciated.
    Thank you

Use the recovery media to install the AMD graphics driver softpaq.
Choose the AMD video graphics softpaq from the list that appears. The following image is an example from a former HP product loan I was provided by HP. What you see will be a bit different since the notebooks are not in the same model range.

  • [AMD Catalyst] problem with "major" file

Hi, I'm using now the free driver xf86-video-ati for my [Radeon 9200 SE] card, and for several reasons, I want to switch to the proprietary driver, Catalyst.
I followed all the steps of the wiki, but when I "startx", it display:
ukiDynamicMajor = failed to open /proc/ati/major
I would precise that the command "modprobe fglrx"  says "fglrx is not a valid expression". I hesitated to use aticonfig, but people say that creating one xorg.cong is bad; thus I have deleted this option.
    What I have done:
    pacman -S catalyst-hook catalyst-utils catalyst-libgl opencl-catalyst (install succeed)
pacman -R xf86-video-intel xf86-input-evdev (uninstall succeed exept for xf86-input-evdev because of his dependence on xorg-server)
    modprobe fglrx (doesn't work)
touch /etc/modules-load.d/catalyst.conf (the file already exist)
    less /etc/modules-load.d/catalyst.conf ("fglrx")
    touch /etc/X11/xorg-conf.d/20-catalyst.conf
    nano /etc/X11/xorg-conf.d/20-catalyst.conf

rnmod radeon (doesn't work => rnmod is not a valid program)

I have already seen this link and he explain that installing from AUR has resolved his problem, but the wiki says:
The second method you can use is the AUR; PKGBUILDs offered here are also made by Vi0L0 and are the same he uses to built packages for his repository. Lastly, you can install the driver directly from AMD.
My aim is to install Catalyst
    Thank you for your help

I don't think that card is supported by AMD Catalyst anymore, even by the legacy branch...

    Hi @Ahmed-Aslam
I understand that you are have problems with hibernate and sleep on your notebook.
I would review the attached document. I realize from your post that you have tried some of the things listed, but just check it and see if anything there was missed, perhaps the section on malware issues.
Troubleshooting sleep and hibernate issues in Windows 8
You can also try using system restore to roll back to before the software update to see if that resolves the issue.

  • Pavilion dm1-3000 - AMD Catalyst Suite 12.1

Has anyone tried the new AMD Catalyst Suite 12.1 with this laptop? Does everything work properly?
    Cheers!

Since no one seems to have tried it, how about you try and tell us how it goes. I tried it on a different HP notebook and it didn‘t work, but HP said my notebook had a hardware problem and is currently replacing the motherboard.
    Good luck.

  • Deploying AMD Catalyst software via task sequence

I am trying to have the AMD Catalyst software installed on all machines with an AMD video card. Right now I am using a WMI query in my task sequence on the video controller. When I image the machine, the AMD software does not install via task sequence along
    with the OS.
Here's the WMI query I'm using,
SELECT * FROM Win32_VideoController WHERE Name LIKE '%AMD%'
The application package itself works fine when I push it out to Software Centre after imaging.
The machine I currently have is a Dell 790, with an AMD Radeon HD 5450 card in it. I've tried changing the query to
SELECT * FROM Win32_VideoController WHERE Name LIKE '%AMD Radeon HD 5450%'
    That didn't work either
I am fairly new to doing this in SCCM, so any advice is appreciated!

  • AMD Catalyst breaks TTY

    Hi,
I have installed AMD Catalyst. When I boot, virtual console appears as usual (since I don't use a display manager), I am able to login, and I can run Xorg.
But once Xorg has been launched, if I try to switch back to TTY, only a black screen appears. The console does still work though, if I type startx, Xfce starts again. There is just no text.
I already tried this, but without success.
    GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6870
    /etc/default/grub Kernel parameters:
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet nomodeset vga=0x0346 cryptdevice=/dev/lvm/Root:root root=/dev/mapper/root resume=/dev/mapper/swap"
    /etc/mkinitcpio.conf hooks:
HOOKS="base udev autodetect modconf block keymap lvm2 encrypt filesystems keyboard fsck"

hi, I suppose than like me you use xorg 1.17 and catalyst-test from AUR, if is the case here a  comment in the package page from packager and maintainer of catalyst stuff:

    updated to 15.3-1:
    - borrowed from ubuntu.
    - brings xserver 1.17 support
    - its buggy
I was thinking for long time about uploading this driver because I think it sucks . On xserver 1.17 xv video output doesn't work at all, as well as tty terminal, which is sad . After switching to xserver 1.16 it gets back to normal. I remember that in the past AMD did release ubuntu driver which had same bugs.
So it sucks, steam games are working fine, maybe better, but still.
And since this package is called catalyst-test i decided to make this update, you can switch to catalyst-total in no-time.
I also dropped many patches and left only most neccessary, so 1) for intel iommu, 2) for agp 3) for 4.0 kernel support. You can still uncomment dropped one if you want.

  • Gf4MX440-VTP TV-Out doesnt work.

    I've just buyed a dual gf4 mx440 with 64Mb and TV-Out, TV-In.
When I installed it I began working with two monitors witout problems, but when I've tried to connect de TV-Out, it doesnt word.
I've checked a hundred times the cable connecting, and it's ok because with my old graphic card I could.
I tried to upgrade the BIOS with an unofficial version and it didn't work, I downdated to the original version of BIOS again.
The graphic card detects the TV because it enables the TV-Out option in the configuration, but when I enable it I get a strange screen of one color on TV. The TV get's of a color brown or orange or something like that and I can't see nothing.
I've selected my country format (Pal/B, Pal/G). I've also tried all other formats whitout any result.
    I'm running Windows 2000 Sp3
My motherboard is a DFI AD70-SC (With AGP 4x)
    AMD Athlon XP 1.500
    512Mb DDR RAM
I've tried all but it doesnt work.
    Thank you very much.

Dunno if this thread is still going, but I figured why not
Well, I bought the GF4-mx440 VTP (8866) back in october, but haven't actually gotten around to testing it until last night, and I ran into the same issues.
For reference, the drivers on my cd are 30.00.
It was quite frustrating, but I did a ton of research and here is what I was able to find out. THis information isn't terribly organized, but bear with me because it's hopefully useful
TV-out on nvidia cards is not as simple as some may say.  (Ie. all those who say nvidia has way better drivers than ati ).
Different detonator versions have WIDELY varying tvout support.  In Some versions it works, some it works well, some it works poorly and others it doesn't work at all. Quite shocking, but sadly this is true.
Bits of info about the MSI-mx440 vtp itself.  The tv out is based on a Seperate chip, the Phillips 7108. This chip handles the tv in and out features.  (Geforce4 chips have themselves an "on chip" solution for tvout.  But typically when manufactures use a Video In chip, you let that chip handle video out also).
Regarding the 440's bios.  There is only one version (as listed through the live update running win9x).  HOWEVER there are issues with this card and WinXP, to which the fix is to apply a bios update.  I have not tried liveupdate on winxp (I run 98se), but I think that this bios update is only available upon special request to MSI.  I'm not sure how it affects the situation(s) under win9x, but supposedly it fixes some winxp issues.  (I will be installing  XP in a dual boot config shortly, so I'l know for sure soon ).  So according to the MSI support FAQ's, there is a bios update to address issues in winXP, that you can only get through special request (assuming you have winxp).  I am not sure what the affects would be on  win9x system, but since I am giong to dual boot soon, I'll probably have to apply the new bios and find out.
Okay, so how to find out if it's a software (driver) problem, or if it's hardware (a broken card that you can return).  Here's what you do:
Unplug all monitors (vga connections) and plug in the TV out (I dont' have any s-vidoe tv's, so I just use the composite (RCA) jack) to a tv, and make sure the tv is on.  Now boot your computer.
If you get output to the tv (usually the post info from the motherboard, followed by the win98 startup screen) this means your hardware works fine.  (This is what happened to me).  Strangely, it made it all the way into windows (on the tv), but typically what happens is that once windows loads you end up with the messed up   pinkish brown screen.  (I've never been able to have it boot into windows on the tv since then, heh).
SO if you do get picture during startup (before the os loads) then it means your card is fine, and it's a driver issue.
*Note: One thing I've noticed is that your tv-output is affected by  which VGA out port you put your monitor on. For me, when booting with both connected (vga and tvout) if it's plugged into one socket, I see both monitor and tv, if it's plugged into the other socket, I don't see tv at boot.  Not a big issue, but worth noting*
Okay, so now if you did see otuput on the tv during boot (before windows), you know your hardware is working.  So you have to find a driver version that works for you.  I'm going to list my own experiences.
MY cd came with the 30.00 MSI drivers.  These gave me that icky pinkish brown flickering screen.  Tv-out didnt' work with them.  Tried the 31.00 MSI drivers, same thing.  This was odd I thought, as the two most recent MSI drivers didn't work.  So I tried the MSI 28.90 drivers, same thing with them too.
Finally I tried the MSI 27.20 drivers, and voilla, tv out worked!  I was able to extend the desktop, and clone it, was even able to tape a downloaded episode of 24 on my vcr .
Of course using year old drivers is less than ideal (especially for 3d gamming).  However, these are the ONLY MSI drivers that have tvout working.
I decided to move on to the nvidia detonator reference drivers, ideally you'd stick with the manufacture MSI, but what can you do.  Here is what I have found so far:
27.20 MSI - Works with tv out
27.20 Nvidia - Works with tv out
27.30 Nvidia - This one is interesting, tv out works in extended desktop mode.  BUT there is no tab in the options for cloning (the 'nview' tab is missing).  So you can't clone, or overlay, only the extended desktop.  So it's an "extended desktop only" driver.
27.42 Nvidia - Works with tv out (works same as 27.20s)
28.90 MSI - NO tv out
30.00 MSI - No tv out
31.00 MSI - No tv out
30.82 - Most resent 41.09 Nvidia  - Tried them all, no tv out for any of them.
I have yet to try all the 28-29 nvidia reference drivers, so dunno if tvout works with them.
So what does this all mean?  FIrst off, check if your cards hardware works (boot only with tv on and tvout connected, NO VGA).  If your hardware works, then you have to find drivers that work with tvout.  Give the ones that worked for me a shot, see if they work for you. (I typically plug in my vga and tvout at same time, so a see the POST in BOTH of them. Boot the computer with everything on, and then go to the settings and try to enable tvout).
This situation is less than ideal of course.  It looks like you have to pick your drivers based on 3d performance, or tvout. But not both!  Either use the most recent drivers for the best 3d support (but no tvout!), or 1yr old drivers for tv-out, but not the best 3d support.  I'm an avid gamer personally, so this situation sucks.
What I find odd, is that MSI's own drivers (28.90, 30.00, 31.00) have these issues.  They are privy to the peculiarities of the MSI cards, so they should be able to address it.
What the pattern (some drivers work, others don't) suggests to me is that MSI cards aren't fully compatible with the reference design.  Possibly an issue with the bios.
I will try and get a hold of the bios update for the WinXp issue, and see how that affects the situation in win98se.
      Hopefully this was helpful
    (For reference, my system:
AMD xp1700, 256-DDR Kingston - Samsung chips, ECS k7s5a MB, seagate barracuda IV 40gb HD, LG 40x cdrw, onboard ac97 sound + lan,  Usb keyboard + usb mouse).

  • Foldingathome doesnt work

    Hi,
foldingathome doesnt work. the file /opt/fah/FAH502-Linux.exe wont execute. anyone having same issue?

Beta fah5 binary for SMP client (x86-64 bit only) is available from their download page
    folding@home SMP faq wrote:
We are also releasing another type of client: the Folding@Home SMP client. SMP means "Symmetric Multi-processing" (...)
The goals of the SMP client and the GPU client are similar: in order to tackle many of the problems of interest (especially related to protein misfolding and aggregation, such as in Alzheimer's Disease), we need to not just have lots of computers participating, but we need results returned more quickly so that we can simulate trajectories of sufficient length. Right now, we achieve this by running for many months to years (indeed, our first Alzheimer's Disease simulations ran for almost two years straight). That's where the SMP and GPU (and PS3) clients come in. They give us considerably longer trajectories in the same wall clock time, allowing us to turn what used to take years to simulate even on FAH, to a few weeks to months.
Moreover, the SMP and GPU clients are complementary. The GPU client can greatly (~30x) speed up a specific type of calculation (implicit solvent calculations), whereas the SMP client can lead to a 4x speed up over the complete range of calculations we need to run. (...)
Our goal is to apply this new technology to dramatically advance the capabilities of Folding@Home, applying our simulations to further study of protein folding and related diseases, including Alzheimer's Disease, Huntington's Disease, and certain forms of cancer. With these computational advances, coupled with new simulation methodologies to harness the new techniques, we will be able to address questions previously considered impossible to tackle computationally, and make even greater impacts on our knowledge of folding and folding related diseases.
This is a beta release and we expect that there will be several bugs, flaws, problems, etc. To minimize problems, we have been testing the client and cores extensively in house and they run well there. However, it's our experience that running in the controlled setup in our lab and running "out in the wild" are very different situations.
Note that it may not be as simple as launching new fah5 binary. From Folding-community forum, i can see
fah5 binary itself is 32 bit : the guy on Ubuntu Edgy x86_64 needs to install the 32bit compatibility package "ia32-libs".
Anyway there's no solution yet for single proc x86_64 like my amd 64 ?
Will give fah5-beta a try just in case.
    EDIT
Well, that was worth a try :
    $ ./fah5

  • [SOLVED]Are X11 and AMD catalyst drivers friends again?

last time i installed linux on my laptop X11 had dropped support fro amd catalyst drivers (proprietary video card drivers), did amd do something about it? did X11 team reconsider? can i use the catalyst drivers on X11 again now?  my laptop and it's stupid APU or "dual graphics" aren't playing so nice with the open source radeon drivers.
Last edited by rabcor (2013-06-20 19:16:00)

If wine supported skype, i would be more dead set on using linux than using the amd proprietary drivers.
The reason this isn't a big deal to me is mostly because i only use this laptop for 3 things, regardless of OS. Teamspeak 3, Skype, Playing Videos.
I have it set up on a dual boot because neither windows nor linux seem to be reliable on this laptop, the reason is hardware-side, this APU is driving me nuts.
The reason i'm having problems with the radeon drivers is that even if i set my computer to disable the "switchable graphics" on boot it sometimes seems to randomly re-enable it without even notifying me. The reason this is bad is because the switchable graphics cause my laptopt to overheat. If this happens in windows it usually just enters hibernation mode while the heat levels are just barely critical, in linux however it keeps running for a while at critical levels before it'll finally just overeat. I'm hoping that the AMD proprietary drivers can help me solve this on the linux side.
Whichever operating system i can manage to make stop ever using the switchable graphics (thus preventing all overheating) will be the one i will use in the end, but i'm not in any big rush, windows is working decently for me on the laptop right now, and i can patiently wait for the amd proprietary drivers to support X again, since i  don't interact much with the computer at all anyways. Using linux would mostly just be to make the laptop look better. Linux seems to be the more likely one to succeed with this task in the end however (because i can optimize/customize it a whole lot more than i ever could windows, and because i'm scared of updating the catalyst drivers in windows because my laptop has often just completely broken upon catalyst driver update in windows.)
